Eclipse 180RD 4GB USB 2.0 MP3 Digital Music/Video Player & Voice Recorder w/1.8" LCD (Red)

Eclipse 180RD 4GB USB 2.0 MP3 Digital Music/Video Player & Voice Recorder w/1.8' LCD
  • 1.8-inch LCD display
  • 4 GB internal memory
  • Plays MP3, WMA, WMV, AMV, JPEG

I bought this player looking for a little throwaway device after reading the reviews, and was blown away with how much better this was than i expected. Looking at the old reviews i see a lot of complaints, and i think that the company must have had a design change at some point because the player i got is excellent. First it has an aluminum casing and not plastic. second the menu system is really similar to my ipod so i had no issues picking it up. it sorts by ID3 tags, letting me decide by artist. album, genre, etc. as well as just going in and sorting by folders. All in all i'm very impressed.

well the good news about this thing is the price its a very affordable MP3 player. That is about where it ends. The bad news I bought one of these took it home put music on it and everything seemed to be ok until i tried charging it. I turned the switch on and left it plugged into my comp as the directions say and it does not charge. Apparently several of these were shipped with bad usb cables. So i had to go to the company's web site and i am now waiting another week for them to ship me a new usb cord. so basically i bough this thing have had it 4 days and have not yet been able to actually use it. save your money and yourself the stress!

Unable to add music and now, it just does not work at all. Very unhappy grandchild. Had to buy something else that works.

This mp3 player looks like a good buy, when really it is trash. It freezes every 10 seconds and can't even play any music. Do not buy. If you want a good quality, inexpensive iPod alternative, buy a sansa clip zip for the extra $30.

Got this thing after an ipod died and looking for a cheap, bare bones replacement. This was the cheapest thing at best buy that seemed to advertise a decent enough set of features so I went with it. Well at first it seemed OK the controls are totally convoluted but it's still more or less usable. I actually like that it doesn't require any software and you can just open windows explorer and drag+drop files into this. This thing would be passable, but not good, if it actually worked. However, it will not hold a charge whatsoever. No matter how long you leave it plugged in (it only has a usb connection) it will only charge like 10% and die after a few minutes of use. I read that these are known for being shipped with cables that don't work so I tried it with a different cable and it still didn't charge (i tested the original cable on something else and it worked fine). So basically as it can only be used for 5 minutes or less before dying it is nonfunctional. AVOID!
