It is a Sony, it is priced nicely...so I thought it would perform slightly better than it actually does. Decided to try this lapel mic for indoor interview shooting since it was inexpensive since my wireless system does produce a slight hum even with gain adjustments (can be removed in editing). As long as the mic is located very close to the speakers mouth it is acceptable without using too much gain (which increased the "noise" factor). It is perfect however for use with your computer for Skype, gaming, voice over, etc.

If you do work in the video interview or documentary field, save the $20 and use it towards a high end, wireless system or mic system with it's own power source.

Love the fact that this unpowered microphone picks up sound perfectly. I use it as a clandestine microphone in my shirt's pen slot. Most people never notice the difference. Pair it with one of the Sony digital voice recorders and you're good to go.

Well, it has great quality, yet the usability is quite bad since the wire that you plug into whatever your using is sooo short. I absolutely hate that. If you were to clip it on your shirt and put the wire under your shirt... You would barely be able to make it to the camera... To use this, you have to me almost standing directly in front of whatever the mic is plugged into. I would NOT recommend this product, the short wire is just a dead giveaway...

I use this to record class lectures at school, and I am very impressed. This is my first recorder and microphone, so know that I have no previous knowledge to compare it to. I always sit at the back of class, and this thing catches the lecture loud and clear still. It is multi-directional and picks up all sounds near you. It comes with some software called "sound organizer", which helps you edit and organizer your recordings. This helps a lot to clean up your recordings and even has options to cancel out background noises which makes a big difference. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends.
