So I bought this "pro" CD unit because it has SPDIF (coax) digital outputs which would work well with my digital board. Digital connection is clean, you don't worry about levels, it cuts down on cable clutter, it leaves my analog inputs open for other things, etc. I was borderline on the iPod feature but thought that for $30 more, it'd be handy to have.

Was VERY surprised to find out that the iPod dock does NOT WORK thru the digital outputs! So I have to either resort to using the analog outs for everything, which is NOT what I bought a "pro" CD player for, or I have to have an extra pair of channels available just to play the iPod. If I wanted to do that, it would be MUCH simpler just to connect an 1/8" to 1/4" or RCA cable straight from my iPod to the board.

I'm thinking I will return this product as this is clearly unacceptable.

Nice unit, but be aware that the Ipod dock does not work with the digital audio out connections. The Ipod and Aux only work with analog out. So, if you were hoping to get digital signal to your fancy DAC from your Ipod it's not going to happen with this unit.

We were living with a 300 cd juke box that a professional company had installed about 10 years ago. Found I was enjoying listening to my iPod more. More current selections and just the songs I like from the albums in the juke box. So I wanted to be able to listen to iPod through our stereo system but not get rid of capability of playing a CD once in a while. This device fit the bill. The analog output was no big deal for me as in other reviews. That was how my juke box was wired anyway. My only complaint is that the iPod tray requires an Apple universal dock adapter. Think they could have included that with price or at least warned me that I needed one so I would have ordered with player.But other than that, I love it

I was looking for an iPod docking station, and I came upon this Tascam deck, which has the docking station, but also allows you to play CD's! This definitely fills the bill for my purposes.

I bought an SKB 2U hard case for it, so I can take it on the road with me. I plug it into some JBL 210P speakers, and let the party begin!

We use this on our church sound system. We use an iPod for all of our background music. It works great and controls the iPod well. My only complant is the inability to enter CD track numbers on the face of the player. Unfortunately you have to use the remote to do it. Other than that we are satisfied with this player.
