Right out of the box, the remote is too small. I have a slender build and my fingers are always hitting the next key. It's impossible to use in the dark also because the keys are too small and close together. The unit seems to respond very slowly to any of it's tasks except skip forward. The title menu only works when it wants to, which is annoying when I want to switch to the next program. The aspect ratio choices don't come out as well on screen as my TV's choices so that's another minus. As someone else noted, some of the dvds skip (but work fine on my recorder) and the disc drawer opens 85% and thus discs get scratched, trying to load them. When it's working right the picture is great but because of all the drawbacks and annoyances I'm only giving it 2 stars.

I had to return this piece of junk on the first day. The picture on my TV was flickering.Get another DVD player.
I ended up buying a LG DVD Blu-ray from Walmart. It worked great and it was inexpensive.

This is a straight forward DVD player. Had to order the HDMI cable to use with it. Works perfecty fine.My only complaint is that the disc needs to be pristine in order for it to play without skipping. My previous DVD player (non HDMI) was able to deal with light scratches without any problems... My two cents.Default picture setting was very yellowish and saturated, and up-convert seems grainy. After setting contrast to max and reducing the "color", it is much better and as good as my Sony PS3 video out. I also turn off the audio on HDMI as I use analog audio out on the back of the DVD player. It seems that when it starts playing DVD, the picture comes up first with total silence, then audio comes on, a noticeable lag, but no big deal. Disc load time is a little slow. Push buttons on the player are not very responsive, but remote control seems ok. If you don't need blu-ray, this unit is great.
