Q-See 8-channel Surveillence System 8 CCD Cameras w/ 40 Ft. Night Vision H.264 DVR w/ 500GB HDD Rem

Q-See 8-channel Surveillence System 8 CCD Cameras w/ 40 Ft. Night Vision H.264 DVR w/ 500GB HDD Remotely Monitor via PC and 3G Smartphone QS408 + QSDS14273X8I bought the QT4 from Costco to be used as home video surveillance. Depending on how many features you want to use, it will take you hours if not days to setup it up. The manual leaves some important information out regarding port forwarding. The dvr address (i.e. 192.168.0.100) does not always show up in your router listing so you must remember to enter it manually. The manual leaves that important step out. Also, port 80 is usually blocked by most ISPs such as Charter so I used 82.

Technical support is some of the worst I have ever experienced. They don't they even know how their product works. You will never be able to talk to them. Your only hope is to chat and even then, the technical support person will try to pawn you off on someone else when he or she does not know the answer.

If you want to access your dvr from your Blackberry, you can only do it if you leave the default passoword at 123456. It took three days before I finally got a tech guy to tell me that. The guy before him told me there must be something wrong with my Blackberry. Supposedly there is a fix due in 2011.

Now I am able to access dvr from anywhere on the Internet including my Blackberry plus it emails me pics when the motion is detected. The system is finally somewhat usable.
