LUKAS LK-7900 ACE Full HD(1080p@30fps) Video Car Digital DVR GPS Recorder Black Box - 32GB + GPS

LUKAS LK-7900 ACE Full HD(1080p@30fps) Video Car Digital DVR GPS Recorder Black Box - 32GB + GPS
  • 1CH DRIVING REORDER, 1920x1080p Full HD, 30Frame, 135degree Angle, 0.5LUX
  • H.264 (AVU Format), Built-in 30-axix impact sensor, Sirf Star GPS Built-in(Saves driving information)
  • Security LED Motion, 37mm UV Filter, Real time video output of Blackbox using output terminal
  • Emergency Record Button, Sound Recording Button (High-performance MC)
  • Sensitive motion detection function, Auto Exposure Function,

To give this review some perspective, my tech savvy is about a 7.5 on a 10 point scale and this is the second dash cam I have used; the first was a Vacron Black Box CDR E-22, which I returned to Amazon (see my review) due to audio problems. I bought the LK 7900 on e bay for two hundred seventy one dollars, free shipping, and it included a power cord, 32gb SD card, GPS, a hookup for using the unit with the motor off (LK 290-12/24VT Auto DC Power Cut Off), a mounting bracket, wire guides and a manual.

3 stars for the manual. The ad said English manual, English firmware, English Viewer. The box contained a manual in Korean. Vendor said I need to go to lukashd.com and download and print the manual. Not good, but I did it. It reads as if it was translated from Korean to English by an app, and is in a very small font. Syntax and nuance are all screwed up and in many places it made no sense at all. The camera had Korean in its firmware, and the viewer was in Korean. Long, frustrating story short the manual, firmware and viewer were convertible to English (of sorts.)

5 stars for video. Using their SD (class unknown/undisclosed) and the default settings (except for time, which I changed to UTC-5 with daylight savings time on the US east coast), daytime video was excellent. License plates, road signs, advertisements, and inane bumper stickers were clearly readable. Night video was evaluated in a rural and suburban environment (none to very little public lighting) and was good; I could read the license plate of the car in front of me, and roadside signs. Using my SanDisk 32 gb class 10 Ultra, I plan to tweak the settings (using the viewer) to see if I can improve video quality. If I have a significant improvement, I will add it to this review.

5 stars for audio. Clear recording and playback. The mic is quite sensitive and will pick up road and wind noises if you leave the window open. It also picked up the noise of my engine running, however, that could be because I have a diesel engine. Overall, this clutter was partly avoidable (wind up the window), and not intrusive.

4 stars for viewer software. Easy to install in PC and use, but not explained very well. No way that I can see to change trip mileage from kilometers to miles. Video and Audio are also great on Win 7 version of Media Player. Replay using Lukas viewer or Win Media player on Win XP Pro does not work on my desktop PC, but this may be because I have an AMD 64 (Clawhammer) processor in this 8 year old homebuilt. Literature says it should work, but ...

Does not have a built in real time or in-camera playback viewer, like the Vacron and others. To me this is not a con. On-site replay can be done, if needed, via a tablet, using a card reader, and the screen would be much larger.

What got me interested in this specific device are the ISO certifications for the company, and the Sony chip. I took a chance buying it the way I did. I wish I could have bought it "Amazon Fulfilled" even if it cost me a few bucks more. So far, it is working out, but only time will tell.

May 12,2013

No noticeable improvement using my 32 gb class 10 SanDisk SD, day or night, after increasing camera settings. This device (Lukas 7900) is supposed to be able to use up to a 128 gb SD.

4 stars for the LK 290-12/24VT Auto DC Power Cut Off adapter. Hooked it up. Works great. See http://lukashd.com/eng/product_info/power_lock.html for a description and the manual. Minus 1 star because I cannot see how to change the running time setting, and the manual is so poorly written.

Overall Very satisfied with the camera; recommend it.

The item works well and has not yet frozen while taking HD video, as have other cameras I had bought from other manufacturers. I am using the 32GB card it came with.

Shipping was incredibly fast, the customs documents indicate it came from South Korea and I had it within a week (it was shipped to Canada)

Samsung AD44-00116B AC Adaptor for Camcorder

Samsung AD44-00116B AC Adaptor for CamcorderThere's not much you can say about a power adapter, other than if it works...and this one does. It's nice to use an OEM adapter rather than a generic equivalent. It may not be true in practice, but I always feel that OEM parts are higher quality than the no-name replacements.

The power adapter was well cushioned for shipment and arrived a bit late, but otherwise without a hitch.

I lost the original 3 years ago. Ordered this cause we just had a new baby. Not missing a thing now!

Motorola SLVR L7 Unlocked Phone with Camera, MP3/Video Player, and MicroSD Slot--International Vers

Motorola SLVR L7 Unlocked Phone with Camera, MP3/Video Player, and MicroSD Slot--International Version with WarrantyWe quickly received our SLVR L7 today from Amazon. The seal on the plastic phone package was already broken. The user manual looked like it had already been used, having bent corners and the binding already broken in. The Quick Notes pages, a feature on the phone available through its menu system, looked like there was already content perhaps in the Russian language. The battery looked like it was already fully charged but we plugged it in to charge anyway. It has a European to US adaptor. When my wife tried to take out the adaptor from the wall outlet the guts of the US adaptor part were left sticking in the socket and the metal clips inside the adaptor shorted out the electrical line and the lights went off in that side of our house. It turns out that the adaptor was missing a screw which connects the US style prongs to the plastic adaptor housing.

I'm not sure if this product came from a standard Amazon facility. We've been ordering items from Amazon for about 10 years and this truly is our first bad experience with a product.

I love this phone! It's easy to use & very durable. I'm usually very careful with my cell phones, but dropped this one a few times already, by accident, and NO harm was done!

I recommend this cell phone to anyone :)

Blackmagic Design UltraStudio SDI, USB 3.0 Connection to PC

Blackmagic Design UltraStudio SDI, USB 3.0 Connection to PCThe description of this item is EXTREMELY misleading. I purchased this and could not get it to work. I then asked someone in person during the NAB in Las Vegas what the issue could be. The answer I got from the rep was "The Blackmagic-Design" UltraStudio SDI's success rate on PC is slim to none. These were HIS words, other then that I was brushed off and that's when I decided to return the item. I went with another solution from another company after speaking with them about my needs and wants during the same NAB show. I got their item and I have been very happy with it so far.

It is very unfortunate that BMD did not seem to want to listen to my problem at all. This device will ONLY work with very few motherboard and CPU combinations. And they will NOT work with any DELL systems.

I have been using one of these for the past few months and it has worked very well for me with very few issues. I am a Script supervisor and I use the device by connecting it to an on set HD monitor via a BNC cable. For short runs of cable a standard def cable is fine. For longer runs you will need to upgrade to HD cables. It also requires a USB 3.0 connection to work. I have had no problem using it with my PC, but if you haven't upgraded your computer recently you may have trouble. My computer is outfitted with the following: Intel® Core(tm) i7-2630QM (2.0~2.9GHz, 45W) w/6M L3 Cache 4 Cores 8 Threads, 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3/1333 Dual Channel Memory, 60GB Intel® 520 Series SATA III Solid-State Drive, and Windows 7 Premium 64-Bit w/Full Version OEM + Drivers & Utilities. It will also not accept a standard def signal. It must be a true HD signal if you expect to see an image. There is one other issue that needs to be addressed. Under preferences you need to choose the video format that matches the signal you are receiving. I usually consult the Video Tech about this. The other alternative is to go down the list of options trying each one until you find a setting that works for you.

Buy Blackmagic Design UltraStudio SDI, USB 3.0 Connection to PC Now

In Manual I read Renesas Chipset is supported,(I have that!) but the driver or firmware may need to be upgraded. Didn't appear in Device Manager, alone or with other USBV3 devices. So spent 2 evenings upgrading firmware and driver on Renesas USBV3 card. Went from 2.0.26.0 driver to 2.1.39.0, and to firmware 3.0.3.4. This improved the USBV3 hard disk throughput 12Mb/sec, but neither before or after the driver & firmware updates did the "UltraStudio SDI" appear in Device Manager, or work. I tested it at another location, and it works on an Intel Motherboard USBV3, but not on my W7-64 system with the card that the manual says it's spec'd for. DARN!!

If this device is so picky on USBV3 driver and firmware, they should have sold a card with it... It never worked. I returned it.

SODIAL(TM) 2.5-inch HD Car LED IR Vehicle DVR Road Dash Video Camera Recorder Traffic Dashboard Cam

SODIAL(TM) 2.5-inch HD Car LED IR Vehicle DVR Road Dash Video Camera Recorder Traffic Dashboard Camcorder - LCD 270 degrees whirlThis unit goes under several names/models and is sold by several different vendors. The unit was not reliable. It would not keep it's date/time configuration. Video quality was so so, but served it's purpose. I had it setup for automatic mode where it would turn on automatically when the car was started and turn off when I parked the car (using the ignition switched assessory outlet). It would randomly not turn on or would not turn off. After having it for about 4 months, it stopped working all together. I would not buy it again.

It makes me cry... Product like this should be prohibited for sale. It fails every aspect of it's purpose:quality, settings... Someone can say: 20 bucks. Well, If I knew what it does I wouldn't spent even 5 on it.

This product mostly does what it promised, the only thing that could be disappointing is the night vision that is pretty useless. It can see a meter in front of you in the dark and that's it, not much use when you're driving in the night and trying to record, like, 50 meters in front of you, or even 10...

JVC XV-M555BK 3-Disc DVD Player

JVC XV-M555BK 3-Disc DVD Player
  • 3-disc DVD changer
  • 10-bit video, 24-bit audio digital-to-analog converters
  • Component-video, S-video, and composite-video outputs
  • Optical digital output for Dolby Digital and DTS decoders
  • Multibrand remote control

This was an absolutely great purchase. As far as I'm concerned it can go head-to-head with any of the more expensive models. As the author of the June 30, 2000 review notes, it handles many of the "problematic" titles with a breeze. This is truly a great machine. Another great JVC product. A company, which in my opinion, is leading the market!

Buy JVC XV-M555BK 3-Disc DVD Player Now

This is the first, and so far only, stand-alone DVD player I have owned, and I have to say, I'm very happy with it.

The convenience of having three separate loading trays means that one disc can be playing while the other two are being loaded; not really very useful for many people, I've noticed, but very handy when you're browsing through those multi-disc DVD packages. I've had some people complain about the lack of eject controls on the remote, but I've never considered that to be a significant problem--it's not like you can accidentally record over a DVD, like you can a VHS tape. Incidentally, the loading mechanism is hardly quiet, but it's not all that difficult to ignore--it's not really as loud as other reviewers make it sound. It's not the fastest loader I've ever seen though.

The picture quality is excellent, although I haven't seen a top-of-the-line system to compare it to, and I've had no complaints about the audio (note, I have this hooked up to a JVC 31" S-Video TV and a JVC Dolby Surround 2.0 4.1 [3.1 technically, with a subwoofer crossover] channel component stereo system; the S-Video hookup makes a significant difference in picture quality, especially on those freeze-frames; incidentally, this unit outputs video on both the S-Video and RCA-out connectors simultaneously. I assume it also outputs on the component connectors too, but as I don't have a component TV, I don't know).

I don't know how well CompuLink works with this unit, as I have an older JVC stereo system that doesn't recognize the DVD player as a component.

The unit is trivially easy to set up, especially by comparison to the rest of my setup, but I still recommend reading the manuals (all of them, including for your TV and stereo components) before starting to set it up--it may save you some grief, and might also remind you of features you've forgotten! Make sure you match up Left/Right pairs properly!! That's about the only tip I can offer.

This unit has only ever had problems with a tiny handful of discs, out of the hundreds that I own; I have played both region-locked (region 1) and region-free discs without any problems. Actually, I've had problems with two discs, but the second one turned out to be defective; the replacement worked perfectly. The only other discs that have given me *any* problems were 'Key The Metal Idol' discs one and two--and that was just in the menus. Disc three worked perfectly. I have also played VideoCDs on it, although I had to use a CDRW disc, rather than a CDR disc; it doesn't seem to like CDRs. It tended to lock up after finishing playing VCDs, however, and I had to eject and reinsert the disc before it would recognize it again.

I've had the unit lock up on me very rarely, and the few times it did all I had to to was turn it off (it did take a while to actually turn off--about 20 seconds) then on again--I have never had to unplug it or contact JVC, and I hope I never will.

It's nice to have 3 discs in the machine at once, but this machine has very limited programming options, the remote control IR emitter is weak, and I frequently get the universal "NO" symbol (a red circle with a red line through it) whenever I try to do *anything*. This is the first DVD player I've bought, so maybe they are all like this, but I hope not. My recommendation is to either spend the extra four or five hundred and get a 200 dvd changer jukebox, or spend the price of this model on a high-end 1-dvd player that has more useful features.

Purchased the item. Great service from Amazon and it arrived quickly. Product is absolute junk and a waist of money as it will not record with consistency. Perhaps I got a lemon. It will only record between 11 17 seconds, and then stops recording....totally frustrating!!!!!

The advertisement was to good to be true, so don't be fooled by the items advertisement as it does not work. Directions are complete crap and very vague! Went to review the 11 17 second clips that it did record, but could only see 5 seconds of the recording before getting an error message. Used and 8 gig mini HCSD, so size should not be the issue. Very disappointed with the product.

I bought one last week. It arrived very quickly. I tested it immediately after I got it. The manual is very simple. So it took me a while to figure out how to use it. The main problem for this product is that the quality of the acquired image is very very poor. The image is totally blurred, no matter whether the objects are far or close. After I played it for half an hour, I decided to return it.

I took a chance and purchase this item. It was worth it. I am using a 32GB Micro SD card have it set to record @ 5 minutes intervals.

I am very please with this item. I would not recommend for night use due to the fact that the LED light are very bright and would be an distraction to un-coming traffic.

Other than that the quality is not HD but you can't get anything with a better price budget.

I concur with the previous review that camera will stop recording in 15 seconds to 4 minutes depending on Loop setting if the camera sees no motion (this is a separate issue from Motion Detection setting). I spent many hours of trial and error to get around this bug and could not do it. No documentation on Motion Detection and Gsensor setup options. Another example was Loop recording options were 1,2,3 minutes not 5,10,15 minutes as stated in the poorly written manual. I had version 1.00 of the firmware (2012/11/13). Camera has potential; the image quality was good for a $55 camera at all the selectable resolutions. I bet version 2.00 will work. Returned it.

Visual Land V-Touch 2.8-Inch Touchscreen 8GB MP3/MP4 player with Camera including In-Ear Headphones

Visual Land V-Touch 2.8-Inch Touchscreen 8GB MP3/MP4 player with Camera including In-Ear Headphones
  • 2.8" Color TFT Touch Screen
  • Built-In 2.0 Megapixel Camera for Stills, Video and Webcam
  • Video Support: AVI, 3GP, MP4 / Audio Support: MP3, WMA
  • Picture Viewer, FM Radio, Voice Recorder and E-book Reader
  • Expandable MiniSD Card Slot and Built-In Frontal Speaker

My 10 yr. old, of course, wanted an iTouch for Christmas but at her age, it would either get lost, broken, or left on a shelf to collect dust so this was the perfect substitute. The addition of the FM radio and the camera (2MP; typical cell phone quality) with the ability to take video via the camera was the icing on the cake. The eBook reader is another nice feature.

She can't put it down. She's used the voice recorder, the camera, the radio, and obviously, the MP3 player. She really wants to download a book and what parent can argue with a child wanting to read a book whether electronically or not? At Christmas, all her "older" cousins asked her "Is that an iTouch?" and she proudly stated "No, it's a V-Touch..." (Whew!)

Pros:

-8GB is 8GB. Plenty of space for everything. (Plus it's expandable.)

-Camera/Video Recorder. (Big plus for non-cell phone carrying kids.)

-Nice size screen and the colors are sharp and bright.

-eBook capability.

-Stylus included. (Which allows even me to use it.)

-Computer connection and file transfer is very simple.

-Price. For memory size and functions I don't think you can beat it.

Cons:

-At first look, it seemed fragile to me ("cheap"). After more use, it's not so bad. It is obviously not as solid as an iTouch but it's more than 2 1/2 times cheaper. Unsure if a 3 foot drop would be it's demise and hopefully I won't ever find out.

-Charger cord is extremely short.

-Battery life(???). It seems that the charge doesn't last as long as I think it should but my daughter is using it all the time so maybe it's fine.

-Headphones. Not the highest quality but those can be replaced.

Unkown:

-eBook. Have not used that feature yet.

-Movies. We have yet to put an AVI/MP4 on it but I am confident it will be fine and the screen size should be perfect for viewing.

It's a great buy in my book! No, it's not an iTouch but it's a perfect little MP3 player with a ton of extra features and functionality. We haven't had it very long so I will update if things change but so far, so good.

UPDATE: 12/19/2009

Well, what I figured would happen, happened... My, now 11 year old, daughter has lost ("permanently misplaced") her "V-Touch". Almost made it a year. Up until she lost it, she used it often. Never had a problem though. She was afraid to tell me that she lost it until after a couple weeks; it must have been tearing her up inside. In any event, I am glad I didn't get her an "iPod Touch" (Wouldn't want to offend anybody by calling it an iTouch...) It worked perfectly and was a worth while investment.

However she has iPod Touch on her Christmas list again... Oh, boy.

Buy Visual Land V-Touch 2.8-Inch Touchscreen 8GB MP3/MP4 player with Camera including In-Ear Headphones Now

The first two days I owned this device I was pleased with it. The touch screen is not very responsive but for the price I could hardly complain. On the third day this device refused to power on. I hit the reset switch on the side which seemed to fix the problem . . . but not for long.

Two weeks later this device is in one of two states:

1. Frozen at the "Please Wait" (Load screen)

-or-

2. Dead and not responding to the "On" button.

While the device was working I enjoyed its features, though the AVI video would record in XVID or H263 making it unplayable on the Windows Media Player without a plug-in. There is no menu system for navigating through MP3's, so if you have a lot of music be prepared to do a lot of scrolling through your massive song list.

If the product had lasted longer it would have probably been worth the price.

Perfect for those shoppers looking for an inexpensive MP3 player. I purchased the 8GB V-Touch for 70USD.

Pros:

Nice, easy-to-use interface. Small form factor. Touch screen is responsive. Lots of nice features (audio/video record/play, camera, FM tuner). The camera is acceptable for 2MP.

Cons:

Sound is average at best. Some slight delays when loading play lists, etc. Selection is made by double-touch would rather have single-touch selection.

Overall nice media player for those who are on a budget.

Want Visual Land V-Touch 2.8-Inch Touchscreen 8GB MP3/MP4 player with Camera including In-Ear Headphones Discount?

I bought the v-touch for Christmas. It does take video, play video. You can put a slideshow of digital pictures on it and take pictures, although it's not a great camera. Pictures look grainy. It does everything it's supposed to do.

TWO BIG HANGUPS:

1. the volume is terrible. the lowest setting is way too loud. I'm going to have to buy new earphones with a volume adjustment built into them.

2. it doesn't read, genre, artists and albums. the only way to categorize things on the v-touch is to put in on different favorites lists, but you can't name them, so you just have to remember which favorites list is which. Maybe it's because syncing with WMP is a real problem. It'll sync, but it would literally take 6+ hours. I don't have that kind of patience.

Unless you're just in love with the touch screen technology, get something else or pay more for something better. These two quirks will drive you nuts!!!

My daughter bought this item with her Christmas money; she had wanted a touch screen mp3 player. With her limited money, this appeared to be suitable. She has treated this product with kid gloves; yet it has had bits of trim fall off, and continual problems that require the device to be reset. The sound is poor and has now ceased functioning with headphones connected. This product is bad enough, but the customer service from Visual-Land is just dreadful. Impossible to contact unless through e-mail, and then be prepared to play e-mail tennis without any resoloution. I would not recommend this product or the customer service, at all. Save up for something better.

Wireless/Wired IP Pan/Tilt/Night Vision Internet Surveillance Camera Built-in Microphone,two-way au

Wireless/Wired IP Pan/Tilt/Night Vision Internet Surveillance Camera Built-in Microphone,two-way audioI was apprehensive about this camera because it was so cheap, but I am fully satisfied by the current state of it.

I fully recommend this camera if you are confident enough to get through the setup. In fact, I just purchased a second one before starting this review.

First off, the manual is garbage. Ive built a few ikea furniture pieces before and those instructions are vastly superior.

General review: The daylit picture quality is fine for me. Color seems to be ok. Im not broadcasting a movie, just monitoring my yard. Night viewing seems fine also. Quick moving objects show blurred in infrared mode. LOL, I just got a motion alert and then got a picture of the guy mowing my lawn while writing this review. There is no daylight motion blur but in the mixed bright light/shadow area (trees and sunlight) I got an over exposed picture and could barely make out the face. Might need to knock the brightness settings down a hair. See the note in the outdoor mounting below... The infrared and glass do not play well together.

Some background: My home network is a mix of apples and linux pcs. No Windows. My wireless network is set up with MAC (address) filtering.

The camera defaults its IP address to 192.168.1.126, if you have a network on a different subnet (mine is 192.168.2.X) then you will need to either switch the network back to .1, do it on someone else's network, or use a crosscable. I hooked up to an old router I had and configured through the wired. I figured Id set everything up through the wired connection first. Hit up the address and logged in (admin, blank password). The Device ID is supposed to be the MAC address...and it is, but its not the wireless MAC address. I still dont know how to find it through their software btw. Anyways, I updated the admin password 30 second reboot occurs. Next I went through the Basic Network Settings and this is where it took a while. In fact, I still need to go back and modify this again now that its working. Since I do MAC filtering, I couldnt set it to "Obtain DHCP" yet which is what I need to go back and switch now. In order to find the MAC address, I had to set the static IP settings and then turned off MAC filtering on the router. **IMPORTANT** Reboot the camera and while it is doing its countdown, unplug the ethernet cable. It took me an hour and a half of cursing and trying different things to figure that out. At this point the camera connected to my router and I was able to check the 'status' section in the router settings to pull the MAC address. Turned filtering back on and it was good to go. I set up the "Mail Service Settings" to my gmail account. I like that you can specify multiple recievers, I send to myself and my wife but I think you can specify up to four addresses. GMAIL SMTP settings Server: , Port: 465, Protocol: TLS, Need auth: check, username: me, password: my password. You have to click set before you can test, dont forget. Moving onto the Alarm Service Settings... Im still tweaking these. Now that the camera was configured, I mounted it outside. The manual says not to, but Im not too concerned about it. Last night, the motion sensitivity was set to 8. I didnt start receiving motion alert emails until about 5am, maybe four of them. Since 8am, whoa boy. I got an email every two minutes. Its now 1:30pm and somewhere around 120 emails later. I just dropped the sensitivity down to 3. Emails are still coming at the same rate. Checking the live feed, I can see the wind is blowing tree branches and there is a lot of shadow movement in the monitored area. Also, the shadows have moved from the sun location. I think I will need to set up the scheduler in the alerts to only run motion sensing at specific times during the day. I figured email option (smartphone) was the quickest way to get alerts, but its proving to be a bit annoying with my setup. Oh well, performing as advertised.

I wanted this camera to be indetectable and that was not going to happen with the obnoxious green flashing light on the front. Two pieces of electrical tape blacked it out. When the light sensor 'activates', you can see the ring of 'infrared' LEDs around the lens but it is fairly dim and not attention grabbing.

The install CD that comes with the cam isnt necessary. The manual implies that software will be installed on your windows computer that will help you configure and view the camera. This is not the case. Looking for the wireless MAC address, I ended up (always the case with computers) going down a path seemingly unrelated to what I was doing. I ended up having to update my vmware software compiling modules etc, ugh and fired up a Windows XP VM. I ran the CD expecting to have some more intimate connection with the camera...but it was just an executable version with a modified interface than the web interface....waste of time.

If I remember, I will post an update on the outdoor durability... Its currently mounted on the underside of an overhanging roof section. Its October 2011, hopefully it lasts through winter (NJ) into 2012. If not, lesson learned I guess. ***NOTE*** I originally thought I was going to sit the camera in a window to monitor a section of my yard. It was fine for daylit viewing, but once the infrared came on, there was a nasty glare on the window that made the night viewing nearly useless. Once moved outside, the picture was fine.

Hopefully this will help anyone trying to set up the camera, I felt like a fool having spent so much time setting up such a simple device AND being computer literate. Knowing the steps above, I dont think setting up camera2 will take more than 10 minutes, and thats with the camera doing its 30 second reboot cycle after each step.

I like this camera. I bought it to monitor my dog in the basement and it does a great job. It doesn't need to have the greatest quality. It just needs to be reliable. I was able to set it up on the basement ceiling. The camera settings flip the image. When the camera is setup so the base is down, it can't point down to the floor, so the ceiling setup is the best.

The output can be viewed from any computer using a service from dyndns.com. I have two cell phones (personal and business). One is a DroidX and one is an iPhone 3G. Both phones can view the live feed from either a web browser or a free app. I use NetCamViewer on my iPhone and IPCamViewer on my Droid. The droid app has Pan and Tilt functions. The iPhone app does not, but the camera can still be controlled from the iPhone Safari browser.

There are a couple of downsides to this camera. The response to changing light is very slow and it can't handle a large gradient in the light level. This means you can essentially make the camera blind by pointing a flash light at it.

Another downside is that the audio is horrible. I haven't been able to get clear audio from the camera.

I have purchased other similar cameras that use the same shell and go for about the same price. The big difference between the cameras is the software and the input/output ports on the back. I prefer the software for this camera, but this camera puts out a low current voltage. This can be used to trigger other equipment. The output of my other camera is connected to a relay which is what I needed to get control my garage door. This was a big deal for me, but I suspect most users won't use the input/output ports on the back.

Camera works well after a bit of a set up but with exceptions. Still cant get any remote view over the internet after numerous videos and emails. Even just local use the camera view goes out at least every half hour and has to be refreshed often. A shame because the picture is good and pan and tilt work great also the night vision is perfect. No zoom but not a big deal. If I could see this cam from work (LIKE I BOUGHT IT FOR) or didnt have to refresh so much this cam would get a five. But until then....Im being generous at a three. Only because it frustrated me. I could have bought a cheaper webcam for what Im getting now.

Olympus KA-333 Compaticord, Connects Earphone or Headphone Jack Output to Mic Input Jack

Olympus KA-333 Compaticord, Connects Earphone or Headphone Jack Output to Mic Input JackI bought this to transfer my phone recordings from my Olympus VN-7000 digital recorder to my WD external hard drive.

My Steps:

1. I just connect one end of the cable to the microphone of my digital recorder and the other end to the speaker of my laptop.

2. I use the free software version of Audacity to transfer my recording (press the record button on the digital recorder & click the record icon in Audacity menu--and voila!)

3. Once my recording is complete, I just choose from the Audacity software to save it as a ".wav" file, and I save it to my external hard drive.

I have an Olympus LS-7, a hand-held digital recorder capable of recording two channels in high quality audio formats. It has built-in stereo mics, but I wanted to record a direct feed from my performance mixer and the only external input jack takes microphone-level signals.

This cable allowed me to directly connect the line-level outputs from my mixer to the microphone-leve inputs on my digital recorder.

The only problem is that, being black like all my other cables, it's hard to pick out from the crowd. I'm going to have to figure out a good way to label it as a special cable so I don't lose it among all my others.

I own an Olympus DM 420 digital voice recorder. Before buying this KA 333 connection cord I wanted to be sure that it would do the job of recording files to and from the voice recorder. Olympus tech support says that it will. I will now buy the cord and give it a try. After I use the cord, I plan to review for you how the product actually preforms in real life.

I've written below the information that I got from . I found this information in the FAQ section for their DS-2 model. I called the company and clarified that the KA 333 cord would accomplish the same function for the DM-420 and DM-520 models. Tech support said yes it would.

FAQ Is it possible to transfer recordings from other electronic audio devices using a connecting cord?

Audio recordings can be transferred to and from the DS-2, (DM-420, DM 520 and possibly other models,) by connecting to the other device with the KA333 Connecting Cord. The cord has 3.5mm male plugs at each end. To export from the voice recorder, plug one end of the cord into the voice recorder EAR jack and the other end into the receiving devices MIC jack. To import into the voice recorder, plug one end of the cord into the MIC jack, and the other end into the sending devices' earphone jack.

Sylvania DVL150G DVD Player

Sylvania DVL150G DVD Player
  • Progressive scan video output
  • 2x and 4x zoom
  • Time search and high speed search
  • Multi angle, skip, pause and resume
  • Component, S-Video, and composite video out

$19.77 for a DVD player? You've got to be kidding. I took the gamble and am very glad I did. Incredibly easy to hook up just match the colors on the cables to the ports on the TV! Sylvania even supplied the batteries for the remote control!!!!

Okay here's why 4 stars and not 5. The instruction manual is complicated and virtually useless. A vital piece of info is missing you have to turn your TV to the proper channel for viewing a DVD. The problem is that they don't tell you which one! So, a call to the ever-open 800-customer service line at Sylvania solved the problem.

Bottom line, if you want a simple DVD player with progressive scan to watch a movie, this is your best bet.

To Amazon: Your shipping service was amazingly quick! It arrived the day after I ordered it.

Well the product is not bad. I needed a dvd player for my dorm room, since I already have a tv of the same make I decided to get the make's dvd player. Easy to install did not need to read the instructions (I never do when setting up electronics) but when I glanced through, they were straight forward. Godd buy for its price and the images are very sharp plus, it is very light weight.

All in all a great product.

Want Sylvania DVL150G DVD Player Discount?

I honestly have to say that I have been shocked with the quality of this DVD player. After connecting the component output and enabling progressive scan, the image displayed on my 32" LCD television couldn't be much better (for 480p). We have had this DVD player now for three months and it has never hiccuped once; even with some of the disks that skip or won't play at all on another "higher quality" deck that I also own. The menus are easy to navigate and seem to be intuitive.

This is a solid purchase for anyone wanting a DVD player with component output on a serious budget.

Heck ... this is a solid purchase for anyone.

As usual, shipping wasn't a problem and our order showed up earlier than expected.

Thanks Amazon!

I initially bought this DVD player for the home-office. Not much TV is watched in the home-office but I thought it would be nice to have a DVD player since I already had a TV set in there. When I went looking for a DVD player online, this one caught my eye because it was cheap. Why put an expensive DVD player in a room that it will not be used but a few times a year? When I received it, I was very surprised it was Progressive scan. My DVD player in the bedroom wasn't progressive scan but the TV was capable of it so I thought why not, I'll put this in the bedroom then move the one that was in the bedroom to the office. It works fabulously. I can't believe how well it works, really. The remote looks like it's cheap but the actually DVD player looks very nice and is a very slim design. I have a universal remote and this DVD player works with it so I don't really need to use the cheap remote that came with it. It really looks like a 200 dollar high end DVD player. No-one would ever guess it's a cheap 20 dollar DVD player (until they see the original remote control). Also, it plays DVD-Rs as well as DVD+Rs very well. I haven't tried RWs but it says it will play them too. This is a great value. The picture is crisp and clear with very little noise. Don't waste your money for more expensive DVD players particularly if it's going into a low use area of your home. This is all you need.

Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition - Old Version

Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition - Old Version
  • Aperture 3 helps you refine images, showcase your work, and manage massive libraries on your Mac
  • Features new ways to organize your photos by the people in them and more robust GPS tools for mapping images
  • Apply or remove adjustments and effects to selected parts of your images with nondestructive, edge-aware brushes
  • Instantly give your images a custom look or emulate a variety of camera types and processing styles
  • Create stunning slideshows that weave together photos and HD video clips, complete with text and soundtracks

If you keep in mind all that's included for the price, you really can't complain. XP's visual interfaces have always been appealing, and the components of Plus! DME are all nicely done and easy to use. I bought it mainly because I was interested in Photo Story, and now that there is a free online upgrade available (Photo Story 2), you can save projects to edit later. That makes this program much more sensible. It allows final saving in only two formats: "medium quality" (240x320) and "high quality" (480x640). There are also two quality choices for audio. Happily, saved "stories" (WMV format) can be imported into Movie Maker and rendered as full DV-AVI with good results.

The audio capture program is also simple, straightforward, and wizard-based. It lets you trim unnecessary parts before saving. I used it to capture audio in order to make CDs from language lesson tapes. It worked great. I haven't tried it on a wide variety of music, but it worked fine with the music I did digitize. You cannot do any fancy editing, but for importing analog music into your PC, it couldn't get simpler than this.

The Alarm Clock integrates nicely with XP, and I use it often. Plus! DME also came with many new transition effects for Movie Maker which are pretty cool.

There are other features, which are mainly just "toys" to me, but even without them, I feel that the price is fair enough for only the goodies I've mentioned above.

Although I confess that this will not satisfy those who prefer high "tweakability" and professional results, I feel that Plus! DME is worth its price for what it does and will please those who want a simple solution to a few digital media tasks.

Buy Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition - Old Version Now

OK, my major complaint with the last version of Plus! was that it gave you little to nothing; mostly demo and watered-down programs. Well, although this version seems to be heading in the right direction, it still offers little in the way of usable add-ons. First, I'll address Picture Story, since it seems to be the fan favorite. While I love it's ease of use, the truth of the matter is, you don't need it. Windows Movie Maker, (included in XP and ME), does the exact same thing and offers greater customization and more special effects options. Best of all, it's FREE, and offers ME users the opportunity to create "picture stories" as well (Plus! is now only available for XP). Plus! DME does offer some additional Movie Maker content, however it's only compatible with version 2 (another XP exclusive). Other than Picture Story, there is really very little of value here. The analog recorder seems like a good idea for cleaning up old LP's, however I haven't owned a turntable since the late 80's, so I really can't comment on it. The CD label maker is OK; comparable to the versions supplied with your average burner software. It's a good solution for those who opt to use Windows XP as their default CD-R/RW burning software. The media player add-ons are OK, mostly new skins and a few security features to keep others from listening to your music, (although the only use I can immediately think of is maybe keeping the children from listening to anything you might have containing questionable lyrics). I don't plan to convert my MP3's to WMA, so the converter is useless to me. The dancers and alarm clock lose their novelty after the first 5 minutes. I own a Pocket PC, so the synchronization tools are welcome. It makes converting media files easier and allows you to download media content from the web (although I haven't yet felt the need to do so). All in all, it's "ok". It's nowhere near a "must-have" item. I would only suggest it if you catch it on sale. P.S., like all MS products, it also requires activation and is limited to one computer. Just thought that was important enough to add.

Read Best Reviews of Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition - Old Version Here

The software on Media Edition has one real gem Photo Story.

You install Photo Story version 1 that comes on the Media Edition disk then get the free upgrade that comes with the ver. 2 Digital Media Edition download upgrade. Photo Story Ver. 2 lets you edit your story until you get it right.

Photo Story allows you to easily build a moving jpg slide show with added non-copywrited windows media file music. It writes a wma movie file which you can be transferred to a VCD. It will not write your photo story to a DVD. You can convert your wma movie file to a DVD file with other software. I used MyDVD that came with my Sony DVD writer. MyDVD does a direct conversion from Picture Story's WMA to a DVD. The songs you buy from Music Match for 99 cents are copyrighted and will not work with Photo Story.

Here are some examples of Photo Story...

Photo Story is the way to go until you are ready move to industrial strength slide software like Memories to TV. I doubt I'll ever need anything better that Photo Story.

Want Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition - Old Version Discount?

I don't really use most of the programs in this package...except Photo Story. Photo Story is incredible! I have done video CDs for my parents' wedding anniversary, seniors graduating from high school (we have two seniors in our private school and will use the stories at graduation), a teacher appreciation banquet, etc. Just hook your DVD player to a projector, and voila! You're ready to go. The ability to add music really makes the stories moving. My only complaint is that you are limited to one music track, so if the story is long, the song just repeats itself over and over. Hopefully, with the next upgrade, they'll add the ability to use more than one music track. That's the only improvement I see that it needs. Great for creating memories for your family and friends!

It's ironic that a software package that costs only $20 could still be termed "a poor value". While the intentions behind Plus! Digital Media Edition were probably to enhance the XP experience, these features should have been included with Windows XP as a patch given the price of XP and the limited features of Plus! DME.

For example, we have Plus Dancer. This program puts a small, pre-recorded dancer on the bottom of your screen who moves with the music selection that you currently have playing. After about 5 minutes my amusement with this feature was gone. Some of the other features are useful if you are into photo or music editing, but there are far better tools out there, and many are free.

The only feature that I have ended up using was the Alarm Clock. It is moderately useful as I prefer choosing an MP3 track to wake me up, rather than a buzzer or an annoying early morning DJ.

If you are hardcore into photos and music and need something cheap to enhance your projects, this MIGHT be worth picking up. Otherwise, just hit the Net and look for some decent share.ware

Archos Helmet Camcorder for Generation 5 Archos Portable Media Players

Archos Helmet Camcorder for Generation 5 Archos Portable Media PlayersThe Archos Helmet Camcorder is good in the sense that it's extremely easy to use and setup. However, the lack of picture quality is enough for me to start looking for another bullet camera to replace the Archos.

Here are the three things that rock with the Archos bullet cam...

1) Easy to setup... You take your Archos Helmet Camcorder and plug it directly into your Archos recording device, and you're good to go.

2) The Archos Helmet Camcorder is powered by the Archos recording device, (Archos 604 for example). For those of you that have never owned or have seen the other bullet cam systems, most of them require a separate power supply to power both the camcorder and the microphone. The Archos uses the battery power of the Archos 604 to power both the camcorder and the microphone.

3) Control of record start and record stop are at your fingertips. No need to purchase an extra control Lanc. device, or any other third party remote that may or may not work with your setup. The Archos Helmet Camcorder has the controls you need, in a place that's easy for you to get to.

Now the downside...

PICTURE QUALITY!!! Yes, 420 lines of resolution is good, and yes 640X480 is good, but it's just that... Good. If you're looking for great, you need to go for a bullet camera that has 520 lines of resolution or even splurge for the Sony 580 ExView bullet camera. The problem with these bullet cameras however, is the problem I mentioned above. These bullet cameras require extra power supplies. Now, you're probably thinking what's the big deal with an extra power supply? Let me say this. I ride dirt bikes with three other guys that own bullet cam systems, but they never use them because it's such a process to put them together. That's the difference between the Archos helmet cam, and all the others helmet cameras out there. The Archos unit is easy to use and setup... It's as simple as that.

I gave the Archos Helmet Camcorder three stars because Archos is on the right track. They just need to come out with another helmet camcorder, just like this one, only next time with more resolution! Also, the DVR travel adapter that allows the helmet camcorder to attach to the Archos recording device (which is included) is a little rickety. Sometimes the DVR travel adapter will pop off of the recoding unit, making your video stop in the middle of its recoding. This is bad! One more thing... I had to purchase a helmet mounting kit from a third party, (Viosport). Why wouldn't Archos sell helmet mounts? They sell a helmet camcorder, but don't sell mounting kits... Whatever!

If I had to put another helmet cam system together, I would buy the Archos 604 recording unit, and buy a higher quality bullet camera. Get yourself the proper Viosport mounting kit and you're good to go. Pass on the Archos Helmet Camcorder.

The camera seemed to work ok and the picture looked good. I was just hopping something made to mount on a helmet would be much more durable. Sound was low and hard to hear. After reading the instructions I was afraid to use this on my dirt bike. It is not water resistant and it also said not to use in a dust or sand environment. Also the camera attaches to the Archos similar to how the docking station does. It just seems way to weak and easy to break. The mount strap might work ok for a bicycle helmet, but will not work at all for a motorcycle. If you plan to ride a bicycle on the road, this might be ok, but for a dirt bike, forget it! I ended up returning it because I do not think this would be suitable for a motorcycle. Chad

I love Archo products. I have had no problem using them. The quality has been good and I find them very easy to understand. Except for this one. I have yet to be able to create a useful video from it. In dim light it is useless. In bright light it is merely fair. The microphone's range is minimal. This is the only Archos purchase I have regretted.

Philips Gogear Sa3285 8gb Mp3 Portable Media Player 1.8in LCD Fm Tuner (Black)

Philips Gogear Sa3285 8gb Mp3 Portable Media Player 1.8in LCD Fm TunerI like this little device a lot. I've been travelling with it for a couple of months now, and I find the sound very good (albeit through my own headphones), and the menus and controls nicely intuitive. I haven't bothered with video or FM radio to this point, but as a straightforward, low-priced 8gb player, this seems to me a fine bargain.

I have bought many mp3 players, Sandisk/Creative/Coby/Buslink, from first generation Creative nomad in 1998.

This player is slick, solid with nice features. Though coming without any manual, I can figure it out most functions by myself music (mp3/wma), video, pictures, radio, recordings, and text files. Most of them work nicely except for 2 gripes the video format .smv and the playlist. The SMV is a rare video format by Sigmatel designed for players with low decoding power. The SMV file size is close to uncompressed avi so it is only useful for a few minutes personal video, not for movies.

As for the playlist, it can have only one playlist and you can only add/remove songs using the "playlist" button on the top of player.

It was until my 50th Birthday, my dad gave me a Philips Go-Gear 4gb and I loved it, even added my first video. I recommend the PGG to the generation 50ish and over. Will never want anything else but the PGG.

Thanks Philips for looking out!!

I have had another version of this that I loved. Unfortunately I broke the screen on it and to replace it, I got this model. There is nothing wrong with how it sounds. Handles many file formats and it is top notch in every way except... you can't arrange the songs on playlists before putting them on it. To have 8 gigs of stuff and not be able to have put anything into playlists on a media manager is maddening. If all you play is music it may not be a problem but if you have different styles of music or audio books this will be an issue.

DXG USA DXG-305V Digital Camera - Blister Pack

DXG USA DXG-305V Digital Camera - Blister PackExcellent Product for the Price

Strengths: Small, Easy to use, Does what it says it does. After you add the drivers, my laptop autosenses the internal SD and camera as two disk drives. I control each !!!!

Weaknesses: Owners manual is written with text that requires a magnifying glass to read.

Summary: I added a 1gb SD card to mine and now have the ability to take movies and pictures anywhere at anytime I choose and keep several movies in the camera until I get it connected to my laptop. Comes with a nice looking carrying case, lense cover, etc. I also purchased a set of rechargable AAA batteries with a rapid charger that will charge from home or the car.

Like I typed in the title, this is an excellent device for the money!!!

First, all of the printing on the camera is so small you need a magnifying glass to read it.

Second, you have to memorize too many differnet menus and selections buttons so you have to carry the book around with you and refer to it.

Everytime you try to do something the batteries are running down so you have to buy batteries and a charger to keep up with it.

The downloading and deciphering are very time consuming and I still have not figured out how to retrieve the video I took at Christmas after 4 hours of trying. The icons are in Japanese.

If you want a digital camera, take your money and put it in a Certificate of Deposit. Wait about 20 years for it build up enough money to buy a camera that you can actually understand. By then you will be too old to care and you will have saved yourself some money. I, personally, am going back to disposable cameras for photos. I have never taken a bad photo with them.

As for the video camera part, I give up. What ever happened to point and shoot with a playback that actually plays back and doesn't tell you there is no video?

I haven't tried MP3 and have no use for that function. But the way it consumes batteries it isn't worth it. Wish I had known all this before I wasted my money.

This camera has a number of features, and I'll be reviewing the capabilities of each.

1.) Video Mode

Video quality is mediocre at best. You need to use daylight in order to get anything resembling decent video. You can record 640x480 at 10 fps (NOT 15 fps), or 320x240 for a much smoother 30 fps. Unless you like headaches, stick with the smaller res. Because the camera is so light, it's easy to end up with "Earthquake Videos"--steady your hand, or use any standard tripod (attached to the battery door, which can open if you screw the tripod on too tight).

I had great frustrations getting this camera to have proper white balance indoors under incandescent lighting. Like many digital cameras I've toyed with, results are too yellow/red, and the White Balance feature of the camera does little to fix this. Use daylight.

Sound on videos is also mediocre. It's not terrible, but there's some detectible artifacts. The camera also has some fun "filters" (Sepia, B&W, Negative, etc) if you want to play with those.

Videos use the ASF format container, IMA ADPCM audio codec, and ISO MPEG-4 Video V1 video codec. Included software allows you to compile video snips, add effects, and other basic bits if you don't already have software that can handle ASF files.

You can plug the camera into a TV, but you will likely need to buy extra cables so that you can plug in both audio and video (only video cable is supplied). There is definate pixelization when put on the big screen, but this is still a handy feature. Support for NTSC and PAL, 60 and 50 Hz.

In summary, it's fine for making videos during the day to post on YouTube or to send to friends. Limited use in other areas. Weakest with poor lighting.

2.) Camera Mode

Up to 3 MP. I did not extensively test this feature, but found it difficult to get the flash to cooperate. Photo quality was okay, but limited. I prefer my FinePix camera over this for flexibility and quality. No optical zoom. Uses JPEG format.

3.) MP3 Player

MP3 files ONLY. This is one area where this device falls flat. Sound quality was distinctly "grainy" when attempting to handle high frequencies (almost like a tincan effect). You will probably not be using this device as a portable MP3 player. Navigation was fine, but I found I kept bumping the stop button when I had it in my pocket. Very annoying.

4.) Sound Recorder

Essentially like recording video, only just the audio. Records using the .WAV container, IMA ADPCM codec, 8000 Hz, 4 bit, Mono quality. There are no options to change the quality of your recorded files.

5.) Webcam Mode

By plugging the camera into your PC via USB, you can use it as either a portable drive (to transfer files to your PC) or a webcam. Webcam quality has the same weaknesses as standard Video. Without proper lighting, video will be mediocre at best.

(SUMMARY)

This device is a fine toy to play around with, and is a fair alternative to high-priced digital camcorders, but is little more than a portable webcam. A fun gift for someone in the 12 to 18 range. Buy rechargable AAA batteries (device uses 4) so you aren't constantly buying new juice--batteries only, nowhere to plug an AC adapter.

If you're more serious about your video projects, get a more serious camera. This is a toy, only a toy.

I got this for free, thank goodness. You do need the book with you, because the controls are undecipherable. The image quality is just awful, and trying to use the flash short circuits the camera and it shuts down. Sound? Yeah, if you want to have something that sounds like you're 3 miles from the microphone. Do not waste your money on this. You can get better stuff for $50 more.

I picked this up about two years ago just to have a still camera to use. The video was just an extra bonus.

It works okay as a still camera. One thing to watch out for is the focus slider, which easily gets bumped to "closeup" mode, making distance shots blurrier than they already are. A steady hand is required as it has a long exposure time and any movement is easily seen as a blur. If it had a tripod mount it would definitely be a lot better in this regard. The fact that it uses AAA batteries instead of AA means on average you can take four or five flash photos per set of batteries, which gets expensive quick.

As I said before the video mode wasn't my main interest when purchasing the camera, but I've definitely made use of it since. The quality of both the audio and video is terrible but it's good enough for YouTube. The video is saved in ASF format which is just about impossible to edit with any free tools, and it's not worth spending twice the cost of the camera just so I can edit video from it.

Webcam mode is terrible. It only ever shows up as a USB 1.1 interface, meaning there's a limited data stream so there's a ton of frames dropped. No audio at all. Finding the drivers took me ages (mine didn't come with a manual).

All told this is a pretty average deal. If you're looking for a starter camera or one you don't mind getting scratched or damaged, this is good. But if you can afford a few extra dollars, go for something else.

2.5" LCD 328 feet Professional Wireless Baby Pets Video Monitor Day and Night Vision Motion Detecti

2.5' LCD 328 feet Professional Wireless Baby Pets Video Monitor Day and Night Vision Motion DetectionI had security issues with shop and office. This seemed like a nice professional looking device. It took two weeks to get here, when it did it had a tiny operators manual (half written in Japanese?) The receiver unit is covered in tiny switches (too small for my chubby American fingers, need a stylus or something like it). It took me half an hour to figure out how to install it's cell phone type battery (nothing in the little "manual" about battery installation). It has to have a memory card (not included) to save any video. The only thing I've understood from the manual is the batteries in both the camera and receiver are very touchy about charging and discharging (you can easily make either un-chargeable!). The battery in the camera is built in (non user replaceable) The receiver can operate up to four cameras, they don't offer additional cameras, at least not on Amazon. I'll write a second review if I ever get this thing to work. Most likely I'll be sending it back.

It seems manufacturers of electronics assume all of us are gadget savy. I have an Amazon Kindle Fire, no manual at all. I've had it since Christmas can't figure it out, waiting for one of my kids or grandkids to either explain it and teach me. I tossed it in a big drawer full of other electronic crap I've accumulated over the last twenty years. I think I've had about enough, if they want us to buy this stuff, why aren't they teaching us how to use them?
