Sony SLV-740HF Video Cassette Recorder Player VCR DA Pro 4 Head Hi Fi Stereo Digital Auto Tracking

I have attempted to check & re-check the hook-up & connections several times, but this unit, while new & packed in the original box, is completely unsatisfactory. The picture jumps & there is a background static throughout programs. Attempting to adjust tracking does no good. This was NOT the case with a 20 year old Sony model that finally gave out after much use & I discarded, much to my regret.

NOTE This is NOT the seller's fault, because the item was new, as advertised & he has assured me that other similar models gave the buyers no trouble.
