I purchased this cable for one function: to capture HDV video from my Sony HVR-HD1000U MiniDV 1080i High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom cameras onto my PC. For this purpose, they work perfectly. The length of the cable allows me a lot of versatility with where I can place my tripod and camera rig while still hooked up to my laptop. It has certainly made my life a bit easier for life-streaming videos over the web as well as bypassing the need to use minidv tapes for short projects.For the purpose of live capturing HDV footage from prosumer and consumer cameras, this cable is an exceptional bargain.
