there are a lot of cctv cameras with the 1/3 and 1/4" ccd lens, with and without night vision, coming out of china. personally, they are all about the same and worth about $25.00 (prolly made by the same factory too). any more $$ and you are wasting ur money. It has a good quality pix but the color is off. that is why i gave it a 4-star. but unless you need pan/scan/zoom or need to see a fly on the wall across the room...these are great security cameras.

I just purchased this DVD player about a week ago, and I've been very pleased with the purchase. For those of you who just want to put a DVD in and play it, this is a perfect player for you. If you stop the DVD and turn off the player but don't remove the DVD, it'll start playing from the same spot when you turn it on again. S-Video, component and digital coax outputs, as well as RCA outputs, make this a DVD player with a future, as does the fact that it can play MP3's, CD-R and RW and DVD-R and RW discs. The surround sound feature is wonderful, particularly if you just want to use your regular stereo TV the surround modes make it sound like you're surrounded by speakers, even though the player is using only the two speakers in your TV. (It also hooks up to a full stereo system, providing Dolby 5.1 sound if your receiver supports it.) As well, one of the surround options (Night Mode) plays everything at the expected level except for explosions, rumbles, and other neighbour-disturbing sounds, which it cuts the volume on. Great for late night viewing! The player also features video enhancement, with dynamic contrast and colour adjustment through five video options. The remote is somewhat disappointing, with the play, rewind, etc. buttons placed counter-intuitively above the menu navigation "disk" in the centre of the remote. It is, however, fine for most people. Note that the remote offered with the 315 doesn't control other TV's, etc. Only Sony ones. I understand the model 415 comes with a universal remote, if you need one. All in all, a very satisfactory player for the price, with crystal clear picture and audio. I should also mention that I'm using this player with standard RCA audio and video hook-ups, and the picture and sound is still great much improved over my VCR, or even satellite. I didn't really have any intention of replacing my old JVC XV-501 DVD player despite being several years old, the size of a truck and generating enough heat to keep a home snug and warm during even a Wisconsin winter, I had yet to encounter anything it couldn't play and it had, for its age, a pretty decent feature set.

However, then along came the Superdrive in my PowerMac and suddenly I could create my own DVD-Rs. Except the XV-501 couldn't play them. Disaster!

My mission to find a DVD player that was cheap (as in non-expensive) rather than cheap (as in you've never heard of the manufacturer, the name on the box and the name on the casing don't match and the thing burns your house down after six months).

The DVP-NS315 fit the bill perfectly. It's very reasonably priced, downright petite (less than half the height of the player it replaced) and it manages to be no-frills without leaving anything important out. I've got it hooked up via S-Video and RCA audio, but when the time comes for my trusty Trinitron to give way to something large, flat and expensive, it's got all the necessary bits round the back to hook it up to.

If it's got any flaws at all, it's in the slightly bizarre remote design, and the matching slightly bizarre menu system. They're not broken or bad, just...different.

In short, a nice little player for someone who, like me, wants to watch DVDs but has no particular need to hook it into a home theatre system that costs as much as a car. Plus, of course, it plays DVD-Rs just fine, so I can marvel at my mediocre iDVD creations.

I purchased this product becuase I got tired of playing my DVDs on our Playstation 2. Once I got it home, it was easy to set up, with a multitude of installation/connection options. These options may sound intimidating at first, but the manual is pretty good at guiding you to what system you have and how to best set it up to maximize your current setup.

I have not experienced any video or audio problems since it was installed, despite what a previous reviewer has found in his. This is a solid performer, and should do the job nicely if you already have a stereo system you like. The only drawback to this player for some would be the fact that if used as a CD player, it can only play one CD at a time, instaed of five or more found in regular CD players and some DVD players.

Yes, this player can play CD-Rs, MP3s, and your DVDs, but most of all, it's just about right for a consumer looking to replace the VCR technology we thought would last so long.

This is my third low-end DVD player. In hindsight, after two misses, it seems apparent that one can spot a good DVD player pretty quickly. If the machine seems to have a difficult time loading DVD's or searching for chapters on a DVD, chances are good the machine's a big pile of caca.

My first two players were both like this. The first was an Apex which lasted about a year and the second was a Phillips. The Phillips obviously had an inferior mechanism that seemed to spin way too long while loading and searching. Sometimes it would just freeze during playback. Using a DVD cleaner seemed to help slightly or maybe it was just wishful thinking. The Apex had similar problems but lasted longer than the Phillips before the problems became PROBLEMS. Anyway, I took the hint and swapped it for this Sony which is clearly a better product for the same $.

Within a few seconds of inserting a DVD, this model begins playing, whereas the Apex and Phillips could spend as much as 30-45 seconds working to find the main menu. 30-45 seconds "feels" like forever when you're listening to a DVD player work and struggle to find the root. The Sony doesn't seem picky either and plays discs whose playing surfaces are a bit dicey--i.e., Blockbuster rentals, previewed purchase DVD's, etc.

If you don't need a DVD player that hooks up to your surround sound system and is designed for your 16:9 60" TV, this is the perfect player. Not to say you can't do those things, but it's not really for that. It's for someone who has like a 20" television and just wants a DVD player in the room. It gives off a really nice picture.

This was the worst thing that I have purchased all year. To my misfortune, I threw out the box before I had a chance to see what a piece of garbage this was, and my chances of returning it were gone. First of all, they give you three extension cords of different lengths when all you really need is one. Secondly, all three are a little too tight to plug into the camera. I found out that the camera itself is not at all that heavy and stays suspended in the USB port without tension all by itself. Safe your money... its just unnecessary and not worth it!

I bought these color-coded USB extenders to go with the matching camera sleeves and THEY DON'T FIT! The USB ports don't connect to the camera ports. I couldn't believe it, so I tried all 3 cords with both of the cameras and none of them fit. I saw an earlier post that said they're too tight, but I don't want to force it. Basically, they're useless. They're also too short for their purpose; even with the extension cords, the camera hangs off a desktop computer. Completely worthless.

Ok, I read the other reviews before I bought this and went ahead and bought it anyway. For starters this is something that should come with the camcorder, you only need one. For seconds they are all too short unless you lay the camcorder on the tower. For thirds the fit is a bit on the tight side and makes me worry that I will break the arm off the camcorder.It's a nessary evil.

I love the system and it's capability of handling up to 16 cameras! It comes with 8 color cameras and 60 ft BNC cables for each camera. 60 ft is an adequate length for most homes, but if you have a two-story, you may need to purchase additional wires or extensions. I have a two-story home and 60ft will not be enough for a couple of runs. Before attempting to install outside, I connected all cameras and powered up the DVR. A monitor is not included in this price, so you must have your own computer monitor. I am using on a 19" LCD monitor. I connected all cameras and they worked well. Motion-sensor capabilities worked flawlessly. Any activity/motion triggered immediate recording. I have climbed into attic and other crawl spaces to determine how I will run wire to a central location in my home. I would love to connect to my new TV because then I can monitor all cameras by turning on my TV. (TV must have PC interface). so the process of installing externally is still underway, but at least I know everything works out of the box. I only have one complaint about this internal/external system. The video and power supply to each camera is exposed. None of the wires from the camera install are housed within the camera assembly or mounting hardware. The wires are fully exposed and can be disconnected or cut. Especially if installed at street-level, someone can easily climb up or get on top of something if you install at the roof line or gutter area. On my first level, the roof line is at 9-10 feet height. Someone can easily cut those wires and defeat the system. Hopefully you are able to record who walks up and tries to cut. Night view is pretty good out to 30-feet or so. For this price and the quality of the equipment, you cannot beat the price! I would recommend this system to all friends and family! The only disclaimer would be to consider the exposed wire and see if there is an option to conceal or protect them from tampering.

This is a top-notch security system that does everything as advertised. They say the night vision cameras work to 30 feet and they do at least that. The hard drive is huge. It will hold about 45 days of data for eight cameras on 24/7. The 60 foot wires came in handy. Software programs are great and set up nicely. Anyone who has used computers can figure out how to use and set the programs. Customer support was very helpful. My system was missing two small parts and customer support got them to me in less than a week. I priced other systems and this one is, by far, the best deal. Most systems were about half the capacity of this one and cost about twice as much. It took me about eight hours to put the cameras up and run the wires in the house. I hid the wires by placing them in tubes from a hardware store. These tubes are used to hide electrical cords inside the house, but they work outside as well. You can put four wires into one tube, they have a slit in them so you can snap the wires in, and attach them to the house using attachments like the cable companies use. The rest of it is about like setting up a new computer. Once everything was connected, I turned it on and it all worked, no problem.

I put all eight cameras outside because we have thieves coming around at night. This system has the capability to download pictures and video to give to the police and/or use in court. I put the monitor in the bedroom so that I can turn it on and see everything around the outside of the house, even in the dark. You can view and record independently. I put one camera aimed at the front door so that I know who is there before I open it. It does not come with a monitor, but any computer monitor will do. Be careful on some cheaper systems. Some do not have a hard drive and it is not very obvious than they don't. Model number might just have a "NHD" for "no hard drive" and that's it. This is fine if you do not want to record, but if you do want to record, obviously, this will not do. If I had it to do over again, I would buy this system without hesitation.

this security system is very nice however the instruction book doesnt seem to match the system. some of the pictures that are supposed to help walk you through some of the setup arent the same as the ones you see on your video screen. the system works great and after three trips to my attic it is now up and running. be sure to run the wires from camera to dvr in the right direction. i ran one the wrong way and when i tried to pull the eve staples out to rerun the wire the right way, i broke the wire causing me to order a replacement wire. the wires that come with the system are extremely thin and break very easily. the replacements are way thicker. for the price, you cant go wrong

The ONLY good thing about this machine is its sound quality (5.1-very good). Beyond that, the machine is a piece of junk. The remote is big and clumsy and not user friendly. You must stand within 5 meters and less than 30% from the machine in order for it to work. Some menu options are written in broken English and are sometimes VERY confusing. Once you set up any timed recordings (the whole point of the machine), this power symbol pops up on the bottom right hand of the screen and STAYS there regardless of what you are doing...watching a recording, a purchased DVD, or even the TV cable through the player. It is not a warning to turn off your machine for a recording either, because it's there even if you are not due to record anything for another day or so. If you are performing an action on the player, like using zoom during a movie, the action word stays on the screen and will not go away. The machine locks up repeatedly, and you must hold down the power button in order to get it to work again. It also gets EXTREMELY hot, so much so that I worry for the equipment around it. The recording quality is very poor, looks worse than a VCR except on "HQ" mode, which only allows you 1 hour of recording time. Manual is also in broken English, and not very clear. There is a backup memory for the timed recordings if it gets unplugged, but the clock isn't saved, so nothing will record on time anyway! I must say their customer service answers quickly, but unfortunately they are unable to help with these problems, as they are part of all the machines. DO NOT BUY! I will be returning mine.

This is a nice recorder for + R format. It works in the US and overseas. It plays and records in PAL and NSTC. You can record 1,2,4 or 6 hours per standard DVD disk. Excellent for converting old family VHS,Beta, DV or Mini DV tapes to DVD. It will also record directly on dvd from your video camera. The only reason I did not give it a 5 rating is that it gets stuck sometimes in the menue and you have to unplug the unit and plug it back to go back to normal operation. Excellent buy for the money. I used it to record about 5 dvds from my old VHS cassettes. The instruction manual is definitely not the most user-friendly. However, I was able to start using the unit without much delay. The problem started after day 3 when I tried to stop a disk that was being recorded upon. The display said something like "cannot stop recording". I finally unplugged the unit to make it stop. Then I realized that the unit had stopped recognizing any disk and kept saying that all disks (prerecorded ones or the ones thatI had recorded earlier) were blank. Spoke to customer service (you have to try a few times to get thru to someone) and they said the read/write haead was probably malfunctioning. They are going to email me a shipping label to send the unit back for replacement. Shall provide an update on the new unit, if and when I receive one.

I am using this battery in a 20W Sony HVL-20DW2 video light and the performance is impressive. I'm getting at least 30 minutes of battery life with no overheating or charging anomalies. I'm charging it with one of the generic 8.4V, 600mA chargers often sold here on Amazon with no issues at all.

Per the other review, mine also did not hold a charge very well. However, given that issue, it works quite well when plugged into either the wall outlet or the 12v car jack. Screen is good, controls are easy and user-friendly even if you're in a darkened room. It played factory DVDs as well as my backup copies without problems.

The RCA VR5330R 2GB Digital Voice Recorder is a good device overall and can carry you throughout a day of studying with no problem. It takes time to get use to the controls which can be confusing, but the sound quality is good and clear. The unit comes with it's own software that allows you to listen to the recording on your computer. THe file format however, is proprietary so you cannot download it to your iPod (There are some software on the market to convert this type of format if so you chose). Be sure to transfer the recorded files to your computer prior to listening. The RCA VR5330R is a one power-hungry beast and can go through batteries pretty fast. My suggestion would be to use rechargeable batteries. It is more environmental friendly and can save you money.

Sound quality is good and usb connection is convenient, but I was disappointed that it does not record in MP3 format, but in some other goofy proprietary format.

I bought two of these to replace our aging Olympus recorders (actually... I bought them to replace our replacements, but that's another story). I bought these for ghost hunting, and I chose this model because it records in WAV format where most recorders seem to be moving toward MP3. However it only records in WAV when recording in HQ (High Quality) mode, which is fine for me because that's all I use. In the lower quality modes it records in VOC format.

Recording time depends on what mode you're using. LP (Long Play) gives you a whopping 808 hours of recording time, though the quality is very low. I own three other DVD players and am familiar with a friend's, and none of them have performed for me quite so well as this one. Its sheer number of options in almost all aspects of DVD (and CD music) enetertainment along with flexibility in terms of control and viewing make this a great deal all on its own. Having had so much experience with other players, I had soon put this one through its paces.

The remote control is large and solid, its weight comfortable to the hand and reassuring of the quality that went into its making. The buttons are intelligently placed rather than just shoved on where they would fit and the are all of high quality and comfortable to press. After only two days of use I can already find most of the options without having to search for them, which is good since there is no sort of backlighting or glow in the dark plastic.

Advancing to different tracks on the DVD is very fast, no slow down when trying to access the next scene like I have sometimes seen with cheaper players. The rewind and forward buttons are part of the flexibility I previously mentioned. There is the option to SCAN the disc with multiple speeds x3 as well as a push and release SEARCH for when you just want to scan back a few seconds. This way you aren't bothered pressing the SCAN button then rushing to press the PLAY to stop it. Just press and release when done.

I won't go into all the features, but it includes everything you'd expect a DVD player to have. Slow motion with multiple stepped speeds similar to the SCAN in both forward and reverse. Angles and subtitles and audio options along with shuffle, repeat, and programmed playback for listening to CDs. Time and chapter searches, noise reduction (for DVDs that tend to pixilate) and a picture sharperner/softener. The only oddly lacking feature would be the absence of a zoom button.

A nice feature that my previous DVDs didn't have is the automatic saving of settings for the DVD you're viewing. The player will save your settings for up to 50 DVDs automatically. Once you get past 50 it just overwrites the oldest one saved so that any you watch on a regular basis will always be set how you like. This way you don't have to mess with menu and audio/picture options everytime you sit down to watch a movie. There is also a 9 screen splitscreen option that you can use to speed up searches during playback, view scenes from each chapter if the DVD doesn't offer this on the menu, and view all the different angles available at once.

Audio options are many and varied, allowing not only for the selection of the number of speakers and types (front, back, center, subwoofer) but also for the size of the speakers and the distance of each from the viewer for optimal sound performance. In addition to this there are various sound setups for theater quality sound in a variety of styles. There's even an option to make your music CDs sound like you're in the best seats at a concert hall in Venice. There is even a setting for viewing DVDs at night which will keep you from having to constantly adjust the volume during the loud scenes.

There is also a DTS converter of some sort, I haven't figured out the logistics of it yet... but apparently you can achieve DTS sound without the need of a receiver that will supply such. There are also S-Video hookups for ultimate screen performance as well as YPR connections for an even better picture and more accurate colors.

There is only one thing I can really find against the player. The menus are big and rather ugly. The saving grace here is they are very easy to manipulate to do what you want quickly and get them off of your screen.

All in all this is a great DVD player, and I am very glad that the folks I talked to got me to buy this one instead of the one I had in mind. I haven't even begun to touch on all of the other keen things this player can do, but if you're not convinced by now... well, there's nothing I can do but invite you over to see this thing in action in person. This is my first DVD player, but could never justify buying one to play on my 25" TV. I finally bumped up to a Sony Wega 32", which is also SWEET. This Sony DVD player is packed with features and tweaks. Having a built in Dolby Digital decoder is great, but what makes it stand out is that you can actually tweak all the six speakers. I already had a digital ready Sony receiver so the setup was pretty simple. The sound and picture that this player produces is amazing and sometimes scary. I've had this dvd player for about 2 months now. In my opinion, this is an excellent choice. It works beautifully, the remote is easy to figure out, and hooking it up was simple. I'm an electronics idiot, so you know it had to be easy (I just figured out how to set the time on my vcr). I just can't say enough good things about this model. I've yet to come across anything I don't like. This is certainly not the only dvd player in the world, and I'm sure that many of the other models are just as good. My wife and I were recently given a "hand-me-down" Nakamichi receiver. The receiver is in good shape and has great sound quality, so it was too good to pass up. Unfortunately, it is about 4 years old and lacks Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding. The logical solution was to find a DVD player that would decode the audio before it gets to the receiver, and after a bit of online research we converted part of our tax return into a Sony DVP-NS400D.

We have had this unit for almost two months, and have watched a number of different movies and listened to many CD's on it. So far, the results have been impressive in terms of video and audio quality, as well as ease of use. However, there are a few things anyone looking at this unit should consider:

1) This DVD player is a great match for anyone who has an older receiver that lacks Dolby 5.1 decoding, but the decoding feature is basically useless if you have a newer receiver that already has decoding capabilities. In this case, a cheaper dvd player without this feature would probably work just as well for you.

2) This DVD player WILL play CD-R's and CD-RW's, but it can be picky. For best results, use decent media and do not try to burn them at full speed.

3) This DVD player does NOT support SACD's or mp3's. Since there are almost no SACD's out there yet and the poor quality of most mp3's is even more apparent on a good sound system, these do not seem to be very important omissions. However, consider yourself warned.

If you have a high-end television that would benefit from progressive scan or a newer receiver that can do it's own Dolby decoding, then you should look elsewhere. Otherwise, I highly recommend the Sony DVP-NS400D as a good performer for a reasonable price.

Good value when bought thru Amazon. The camera is very small, but full featured. Full auto still shots produce great photos, yet if you prefer, it allows aperture/shutter speed priority for more control. The buttons, switches and controls are placed where they are easy to find without looking and the on-screen display lets you see what you will get. I recommend this camera.

I just purchased the Kodak z650 and have taken a number of pictures. It's easy to use and learn all the functions. Before buying this camera I looked at a number of cameras. I picked this one because of cost, zoom, and mega pixels. I looked at the Kodak z740 which is being replaced by this model and for a few more dollars you can get this model which takes better quality pictures and has the histogram feature.

A read reviews and a number of people complained about having the zoom without image stabilization. Well, when I took pictures at full zoom, even using the digital zoom, the picture was shaky in the view finder but came out clear. The 10x zoom is very nice even without image stabilization.

The price of this camera for the features is incredible. That is why I picked this camera over others. Read the reviews. This camera gets good reviews, even from the professionals. For the price you won't go wrong.

I am very pleased with this camera. I bought it in hopes of replacing the Canon Sure shot that I had that took blurry pictures. This camera is the nicest digital camera I have seen. It is below a SLR digital, when in reality, it takes about the same kinds of photos as an SLR digital. If you are a professional photographer, you could do wonders with this camera and get awesome results. The LCD screen will show up fuzzy when viewing the image..BUT, once you take the photo, it comes out crystal clear. I am very much pleased with the performance of this camera. When I figure out how to work the image sharing on Amazon, I will show you some sample images from some of the modes the camera offers. I think anyone who buys this camera, and reads about all of the features and knows how to work it properly will love it. This is my second Kodak digital camera and like my old one I just love it. Flat out it takes some of the best pictures I've seen or taken for that matter. It's rich in features. From almost full manual PASM control to automatic point and shoot to multiple 'scene' settings for differing situations. Power up to first picture is quite quick. Shutter lag is quite small (no more missing those action shots!). The 10x optical zoom does lack stabilization but in good light and with a good shooting stance you won't generate much image shake. Macro photography is, as I've experienced in the past with my CX4230, exceptional although using the flash for extreme close-up work can generate shadows on the image due to the location of the flash unit. Natural light and no flash eliminate this problem. That all being said I do have some complaints; The door covering the memory card slot feels flimsy and could easily be damaged or broken. The 'joystick' used for navigating the menus is small and hard to use for fumble fingered guys like me. It takes some getting used to and can slow you down changing modes or settings if you're in a hurry. The camera seems to have some trouble getting focus in low light (I like to shoot at the beach at sunrise) and the extremely bright and annoying green 'low light assist' lamp cannot be turned off even though the Kodak FAQ page for the Z650 says it can be. All in all though, this is a great camera! It's got some heft to it so it feels like a real camera and not a tourist toy. It comes with a (plastic) 55mm adapter which allows you to fit any number of filters to the camera, though the included lens cap will not attach to a standard 55mm filter. Speaking of the lens cap, it's the one true disappointment with this camera, it does not stay on very well at all. The slightest tap and it will fall off. This can be somewhat solved by leaving the 55mm adapter on the camera as the cap fits that much better. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for an ultra-zoom model for a good price. You can't go wrong here.

Just got the camera. I used to own Canon S70, which is better in everything besides the zoom. Unfortunately, my old canon was stolen, so I had to look for a temporary replacement, until I can afford a nicer one. Well, my search stopped at this Kodak. I got it for $200 only, which is great.

Everything works great so far. I cannot comment on the life of batteries, but I bought 4 recharchable ones and a recharger, so I doubt I would ever run out of power. I also got a 512M card, as the medium picture size is around 2-2.5M each.

Zoom works fine. I would say it's great for such camera. Of course you cannot zoom fully and expect that leaves on a tree would be in perfect focus, but it takes great pics in full zoom, so if you question that capability, disregard all negative feedback on this issue.

It takes pics in nice color. I would say 'full' color. Blue is blue and green is green. I've heard that Kodaks were good in this, so i can only confirm that rumor now.

As for the rest of functions, I have not had enough time yet to experiment with everything, as the school has already started for me, so I only have so much each day to devote to my new toy.

I hope I'll have time in a week or so to post more comments on other features, but to all who are considering this camera, I would say this:

it's not too small, but fits in one hand nicely,

it's 6M pixel, so takes nice resolution pics, which are below 3M each

it has nice zoom

it takes nice color

So, for this camera with its price, I gave it 5 stars. If you are looking for superior performance or quality, look at cameras that start at $700 or $800 you would not find anything in this price range that would satisfy your need. (I am looking into buying a $800 camera myself, so I've done a lot of research trying to get a nicer bargain with a cheaper camera and found out that there is too much of a gap between any 'cheap' camera and what I really want).

I have a half dozen different wifi cameras in my house. This is the easiest to set up. It has you create an adhoc wifi network with you iphone, then it simply attaches itself to your wifi network. It all runs through an iphone app. The antenna is internal, so not very good.

The camera gives a decent picture looks pretty HD to me. Colors are accurately reproduced.

The app is not optimized for the iphone 5, so it clips the top and bottom. There is no dedicated ipad app, so only a tiny window iphone emulation.

I cannot figure out how to access the camera using other software I can only get it to work through the Belkin app.

The app itself is pretty bare bones. There are no brightness controls. There is no portrait orientation (only landscape). You cant even pinch to zoom. Audio streaming is patchy at best maybe due to a weak signal. When recording video, the frame rate drops to an unusable level.

The app allows you to do motion detection, but that is completely useless. Even at the least sensative setting it detects every minor movement of a cloud changing the lighting in the room a tiny bit. And the emails it sends you are all have the incorrect time in the subject unless you happen to be in CA, which the camera knows I am not.

I give this three stars. It has potential to be four or even five if the software were improved.

The setup was very easy, so that is a major plus.

This was incredibly easy to set up, and the only thing I am using it for is to see who is at the front door (I live in an upstairs apartment). The camera is fairly well-suited to that task, and it seems to stay connected just fine with my iPhone 4, but I'm not actually using it that often or asking that much of it. The video quality suffices to show me whether it's the UPS driver or a person here to give me a copy of Watchtower.

What the camera supposedly *does* but doesn't do well:

It's not good for video chatting. The video quality, while supposedly HD, is considerably worse than the front camera on my iPhone 4, and audio is lousy.

Motion sensitive security: way too sensitive and annoying.

Recording video: Nope. It's like a strobe sequence in a horror movie. Just, nope.

Bottom line -> this is not a good value in an IP camera. As of this writing, it is every bit as expensive as the higher quality cameras that are available. If it were selling for about 1/3 of its current price, I would add a star for value. At its current price, it gets three stars for mostly serving its purpose.

Let's begin. First off all, this is not made by Belkin. It's an off-label brand that they have rebranded as their own. Yet it actually has less functionality than the off-label product.

Pros:

The video preview quality is decent. That's it.

Cons:

The software crashes all the time.

A 3-second animation plays every time you open the app, even if the app was just idle!

The camera keeps losing the connection to the iPhone app, so you need to quit the app and relaunch it constantly.

The video recording on the software is limited to about 2 frames per second.

The buttons for recording or taking a photo have childish sounds attached to them and they can NOT be turned off. Even if you put your phone on silent.

The recording of video stops at random places, probably caused by notifications on your phone.

You have to sign up for their service, giving them a username, email and password in order to use the camera. There is NO way around this. This means at any time Belkin can watch your camera!! Now wait a minute, you think this won't ever happen? After I sent 3 emails through the app to Belkin, a notice popped up on the screen of my iPhone stating:

Logged out!

There has been a log-in of the same

username and password from

another computer device.

They were looking at my camera!!!!

PRO:

Night vision is excellent with this camera. Visibility can be set to day/night or auto and the camera will automatically switch when the light level is too low for normal vision.

Responsiveness is quick...movement on the camera is reflected in the mobile app within about 2 seconds, and does not have any significant lag time.

Application works on both apple and android products, and is quick and easy to install and use app is fast and has all the relevant configuration options for the camera plus live view and share.

CON:

Like other network cameras this one can't be connected to a home surveillance system like a webcamxp or ispy camera device. It creates its own wireless network (which you can't completely customize), and so you must use the Belkin app in order to view the video. This is a huge downside if you already have a home camera solution and just want to add a night-vision camera to it. So if you have a solution, this is a second solution vs. an add-on.

Installation is very quick and easy the camera creates a wireless network that you connect to and configure using the interface, plus the app that you download from either iTunes or Google Play allows for configuration. You can turn audio on/off and quality settings as well.

We accidentally left the phone connected to the camera's wi-fi network after config and wondered why we had no internet access just remember to connect it to your home wi-fi and then move back to your normal setup. You might have to look at the channels of your wi-fi network and move things around so you don't have overlaps, because the camera default isn't configurable as far as I have found. That's another CON for me. I like to fully customize anything on my network, right down to the nitty-gritty.

I took two points away for the network inflexibility...otherwise the quality of the camera is very good and in both day and night mode it provides a clear picture with very smooth quality over a mobile connection (4G and wi-fi tested).

Wow i saw the other reviews, but thought, surely it can't be that bad. It is. The app has virtually no functions and no options. I thought, well, that's okay, I can use it with IPCamView or even Blue Iris on my computer BUT NO it is NOT COMPATIBLE with any other software and apps that almost every other IP camera is compatible with. WHY? Why did they choose to limit it like this and render it virtually unusable. You can't even adjust the image, or set motion detection zones. Also, when viewing in full screen on their website, the picture is not clear doesn't look HD at all. It may be clearer on a tablet, but you cant zoom into to see a particular detail and a phone and tablet have small screens, so it's hard to say if it really is HD quality also the colors are very washed out to the point of almost being black and white.

The app is so basic that you can only log in, and view the camera. If you go into settings you can turn the audio on or off, turn the IR on or off, turn image auto adjust on or off, and set emails on or off and that's pretty much it! This camera and it's pitiful app mean that it is only good for real time viewing forget about it if you want to record anything automatically or use it for any kind of home security. Maybe Belkin will wise up and add some better features in the future, but as it is, this camera is really not good for much other than viewing real time activity. And because it's not compatible with other software besides Belkin's own, you can't use it to mix and match with other cameras in your home security system. Trendnet and Foscam both have similar cameras that have all the features this is missing. IE the ability to record to SD card or computer when motion is detected, the ability to use it with any software and app that you prefer and I believe both of them are similar, if not cheaper in price than this Belkin. I may be trying one of those two for my next WIFI camera. The logitech alert cameras are more expensive, but also have a much higher feature set than this, as well as really nice desktop software for recording activity and scheduling alerts, etc.

Motion detection alerts seem to work okay and it will email you two frames at the time it is triggered, but again, since this is meant for phone/tablet use only, why only email alerts? There should be an option to have it send push notifications so you can look right away and not have to wait for an email to come thru. And without it having the capability to automatically record when motion is detected, it is useless unless you happen to be able to drop everything and go into the app and press the record button. If someone breaks into your house forget it, you cannot have it record them ripping off your stuff so you can give the video to the police. This makes it basically a glorified nanny cam or pet cam. And if that's all you want it for, I would get something a lot cheaper than this.

Also, at this price point, I feel like it should have an sd card slot to record motion events to, but unfortunately it does not.

These Belkin cameras seem to be released prematurely they advertise easy setup, and sure that is true, it is easy to setup because they are so limited in functionality. I think they are planning on these cameras as part of a whole home automation system, but right now I would say they are in pre-beta stage and have a lot of work to do they are starting out with less than other makers have had available for years. I'll be interested to see if they improve functionality of these over time.

It does deserve at least one star, because it is so simple to setup that any novice user can do it, and for those that don't want to have to mess with port forwarding, dynamic dns, etc but still want to view their camera from anywhere, then maybe this is the best option and they won't mind all the missing features.

Lorex LW2450 LIVE Video Baby Monitor with Pan/Tilt Wireless Camera (White)

This video home or baby monitor improved a lot in quality and functionality compared to its past models. I still have and use one of Lorex's older models (3 years old). That old one seems likes a really ancient tool now. It doesn't have pan & tilt, the screen is very small, the picture quality is not so good, wireless range is limited, and there are no extra functions, such as temperature meter. All these things are featured in this newer video home monitor, LW2450.

I've been using the new Lorex model for over a month now, non stop, for over a month, and I have had no single issue. The reliability of this monitor is just wonderful. I have more than 10 wireless devices running all the time at home, and this monitor has never interfered with any of my wireless devices. Unlike this one, my older Lorex monitor had some interference with my iPhone 3GS; therefore, I am rather pleased that interference has not been a problem.

The big LCD monitor (3.5") is good enough to identify what's going on in the scene. It is not super clear like the iPhone's retina display of course, but I can tell the picture quality has improved a lot from the past models. Night viewing is limited in color and range due to the nature of the technology, yet I think it's better than any other brands' I have tried. Also, the viewing angle from the lens seems wider than I had expected, and I prefer a wider angle than a normal angle. Pan and tilt is just as great. It works the way it should and as expected without an issue. Among the many features from this video monitor such as two way talk , recording, and expandability, my absolute favorite is the temperature sensor. The wireless camera senses the temperature and displays it on the monitor. This is very useful and the best feature for me personally.

Remote viewing is also a nice feature, and I like the fact that it's capable. However, setting up with Skype for remote viewing is not that simple and functionality is limited. It is not difficult to set up with Skype actually. I just had to make a new account just for the camera and changed the preference Skype to auto answer on the computer. It is not that big deal to go through, yet I can see there are many people just wanting something easy to install and simple to connect. And in my opinion, this is not the simplest solution for remote viewing. There's another way, still not the best, to use for remote viewing. Using iCam app on the smart phones and tablet allows slightly simpler setup with push notification on motion detection. I prefer using iCam app for remote viewing, and it's nice the wireless cam works with the application, not just Skype. But both applications are not able to control pan and tilt.

So my wish for this unit is for it to have a dedicated smart phone app for remote viewing with push notification and pan and tilt control. Lorex's other video monitor series have their apps for iPhones and tablets. This shows the company is capable with the current technology for more flexibility. I know it is nice and useful to have a separate viewing monitor unit, but we are living in a mobile era now, and we will probably never go back to old technology. So it's only reasonable for new Lorex to embrace technology and improve product functionality. The WIFI IP cameras are getting really popular these days because of the flexibility that one can use in his/her current smart phones, which do not need to be tied to a separate monitor unit. If you are technically advanced and have some networking knowledge, WIFI IP camera will be cost effective. If you want something simple and easy to use for monitoring home or baby with some nice extra features, this might be a good choice.

We have owned Lorex baby monitors in the past and they were awesome. This is no exception. It is a little pricey but you are paying for quality. The camera pans and tilts quietly so your little one won't be woken up. The screen is great and you can see everything really well. Everything seems to be solidly built and the monitor holds a charge for a long time. We had a similar baby monitor from Motorola last year and it went out on us after less than six months. It was almost identical to this Lorex system. Based on reliability and my past experience with Lorex I would recommend this video monitor set up over pretty much anything else. Lorex is top notch and worth the money.

I like that this product comes with a hard copy of the user's guide. So many products these days only come with a PDF version. I prefer to flip through pages to find what I need. This product also comes with a Quick Start Guide, so getting started was really easy.

This monitor comes with one camera but is expandable up to 4 cameras.

This monitor can be placed on any flat surface. It is not the kind that can be mounted on the wall (unless you purchase the optional mount). It comes with 3 wire clips that are backed with an adhesive strip.

Lorex LW2450 works well, as designed to be without zooming, and the 4-hour battery life seems decent, though insufficient for obsessive monitoring. I have two baby monitors. The Lorex LW2450 LIVE, and the Motorola Blink1 Wi-Fi Video Camera for Remote Viewing with iPhone and Android Smartphones and Tablets, Silver. I only bring this up because I feel the need to explain why I think this product (the Lorex) is going to be better for some people even though the Motorola Blink1 ran away with a big win for us.

Before I do that, I just want to say that the Lorex does everything intended well. The handheld controller/display is comfortable, has its own little 'kickstand' for tabletop display, and the thumb stick control is easy to use, and the camera responds promptly. The camera offers a quality picture whether the room is lit or pitch black, the motor panning and tilting the camera is quiet enough that it's not likely to rouse any sleepers. It is, by all measures, a fantastic product for people who want a self contained solution that they're going to use within the confines of their home.

And this is where the Motorola is different, why the Blink1 is a better solution for ME, but not necessarily for you. The Motorola doesn't have a dedicated device for viewing and controlling as it relies upon your iOS or Android device (phones or tablets). Because it relies on these devices, it offers an expanded range (quite literally) of options insofar as you can continue to monitor and control the device even when you leave your home. Wherever you are, you have the option of connecting and getting audio and video (the quality of which is commensurate, of course, with the quality of connection that device has wherever you are).

I loved the Lorex LIVE for what it was until we got the Motorola. And it's only because we're already toting around iOS devices wherever we are that the Lorex's control screen seems an unnecessary addition to us. That's not going to be the case for everyone else, however. So it seems a relatively simple equation for me, and that speaks to how you're going to use it and whether you'd prefer to have a dedicated screen for your monitoring or have it through a phone/tablet. The Lorex is a fantastic option if the latter isn't appealing and the mobility aspect isn't so important -which is why this is a rare case where I'm giving 5 stars to a product I've shelved because I've deemed a different one superior for my own needs. The Lorex is well designed, well engineered, attractive, intuitive, and smartly functional. It's self contained, you don't need or rely upon anything else, and it does what it sets out to do very well. I can say the same about the Motorola (and have, elsewhere), but even as it's the same type of device, serves the same purpose, they're still distinctly different enough in terms of HOW they do it that I'm cross reviewing each without penalizing or rewarding one or the other in the process.

Highly recommended if your needs are as described above -otherwise I'd take a long hard look at the Blink1. You're going to be very happy either way.

I bought this camera for my 10 year old son. He loves it. It was easy enough for him to use all of its features, and it takes good pictures. It is lightweight and small enough to take anywhere, and it is pretty sturdy, because my son is a very rough and tumble tween. Almost a year later and it is still in perfect operating condition.

I purchased two of these for my teen aged children. They both were excited about the features offered and the music storage. They were, in my oppinion, a little on the delicate side, but I am very hard on portable electronics. The kids, for whom they were bought, enjoy them still.

I loved this product when I bought it. The price, combined with the features made it seem like the perfect gift for my 10-year-old music and photo lover. After playing with it for a bit, I still liked it, but there are enough buttons that I actually had to read the owners manual to figure out how to navigate through it. However, after a quick tutorial, my boy was able to use both the camera and the music player fairly smoothly.

Sadly, four days after Christmas, the screen has cracked, and while it still works, it's difficult to see. I know it's not the manufacturers fault that my boy managed to break it so quickly, but he is fairly good with electronics, so this tells me that it's not as durable as a more expensive player might be. Of course, it's not as expensive as the more expensive player either:)

So I don't regret the purchase, but I would for sure put the silicone cover on it, and handle it gently.

I bought this for our 11 year old. He wanted video capabilities and this seemed like a good low-cost player. But, after 90 days we have a white screen. As far as I know he has not dropped it or anything but who knows. Anyway, if you see this for less than $30 may buy it but backup your music! It will break at some point.

Duracell High Speed 32 GB 600X USB 2.0 Compact Flash Card Card UDMA DU-CF6032G-C

After 2 months of wait, I finally received my 32GB 600x from Duracell/Dane-Elec, and the wait was worth it, though I needed even a bit more patience to get it to work with my 7D. Here my experience with the cardridge in my camera.

After unpacking, I could not wait to put the card into the 7D which features the latest 1.2.3 firmware. Even so, the card was not recognized at all first, and could not even be formatted in the camera. I then hard-formatted it through my external card reader (a Sandisk ImageMate All-In-One 34MB/s), as FAT32/32KB block size (probably any other size would have worked).

After this painstakingly-long process that took around 15 minutes (who knows, maybe a quick format would have done the job as well), I loaded the card back into my 7D, and it worked right away. To make sure to get proper performance (correct block size etc.), I formatted the card again in-camera now, as typical a 5 second affair. Not bad for a 32GB card, aye?

Now I was ready to start some burst-shooting tests (similar to Rob Galbraith's tests, even though less scientific, measuring multiple times write durations on bursts of photos until the red light on the camera went out). Here's what I found:

31 MB/sec write on my 7D (or a "210x equivalent"). That's a lot. Even the fastest CF tested so far on Rob's site, a Lexar Pro 600x, reaches not more than 53 MB/sec (about a 350x equivalent) in write speed, not 90MB/s (600x) due to the camera's natural delays in writing to any card inserted, and that's for the fastest I found so far for any camera-CF combo tested on that site yet. About 60% of that performance for 20% of the price, not bad! And the low-price competition is not even close (my other "133x" to "533x" standard cards crank out around 9-11MB/s write on-camera, and I won't name names, right, Kingston, A-Data and others).

How 31MB/s feels in a 7D when shooting RAWs: Instead of suddenly grinding to an almost-halt at 16 frames, now the camera cranked out 20 RAW frames (8/s) before even slowing down at all, then slowing down to maybe half of that for a few more frames, finally settling at a regular rhythm of about 2 quickly following frames about every 1.3 seconds until I finally stopped holding the trigger down (which was at about 15s, or 46(!) frames later). It took another 15 seconds more until the whole full buffer was emptied completely. In those total 30 seconds, the average write speed to card was 31 MB/s as mentioned. Quite impressive.

What was even more impressive was that after I had repeated the experiment a few times with almost identical results and when I started testing responsiveness during the "past-write" cycle, none of the typical and so nerving issues with my slower cards occurred (sometimes a few seconds without a shot, irregular delays in storing the pictures, etc). Instead, I was able to fire shots with the remaining opening up buffer size at full speed at any time while the camera was writing to the card as long as some buffer space had just opened up. Clearly, this is a UDMA-6 combo close to its best.

Why is that important for me ? I photograph a lot of moving animals such as birds in flight, and even with a camera like a 7D, one runs out of consecutively RAW frames quickly if the card is not fast enough. A hunting birds don't wait for its pray until my camera buffer finishes writing, though ;-)... they simply fly away, and eat. Any bit of improvement here is worth it and can freeze that magic shot in the end.

Subjectively, in long RAW bursts, the camera feels twice as fast/responsive as with my other non-UDMA6 cards (probably, with a lexar 600x it would be 3x, I assume).

How reads perform: Due to my "limited" 34MB reader I was not able to test out the card, but I got the reader close to its limit. So I would not be surprised if Duracell's promise of 90MB/s holds under ideal conditions (hey, those lexar expresscard/firewire readers seem to get pretty close to that). Maybe some of you write reviews on read speeds with this card in your faster readers.

Is the Duracell the "top racing card" on the planet? Certainly not. According to Rob Galbraith's site, the $250-$300 600x Lexar Pro and Sandisk Pro 90MB crank out around 44-53MB/s on a 7D, and even the Transcend 600x (yellow) for $170 street may get 41 with some wind in the back. But I found the Duracell the by far cheapest super-fast UDMA-6 card I found. If one gets a hold on one. Just ordered a second one to make sure I won't run out of cards... :-)

UPDATE 03-12-2011: I have just received my second cardridge yesterday, after maybe only 2 weeks of wait since backorder. The card was usable in my 7D right away so that no extra formatting outside the camera was needed. The speed was tested the same as the first cardridge which by now has endured about 6000 shots without issues. As of now, I in my 7D I only use the two duracells and have retired all my other, older cards to "400D-2nd body and emergency capacity duty".

I ordered and received 4 of the cards. Of the 4, 1 was defective and will not write properly. I used Crystal Disk Mark utility to test the remaining 3 cards. Their sequential read and write scores were in 50-70MB/s range. That is a 400x performance, definitely not in 600x class. These cards are simply not performing as adverstised...600x class. If you want a 400x card, consider them. If you want a 600x card, go to Lexar, Sandisk, or maybe Transcend.

I have notified both Duracell and Amazon of the bad card and poor test results.

BTW, I have no idea why the card is labeled USB 2. That makes no sense. First the cards do not know the protocol the reader is using towards the computer. It could USB 2, USB 3, FW 800...etc. Second, how can you see 600x performance (range of 90MB/s) if the reader is connected via USB 2 (20MB/S), FW 800..etc..? For 600x performance you need USB 3 transport.

I did not think that I was able to buy the CompactFlash card equipped with the SLC flash memory by this price.

There is no stress though it used with D700 of Nikon.

And, there was no inferiority compared with my 400x CompactFlash card.

When the speeds in the card reader were compared, it was far more high-speed than my 400x CompactFlash, and the velocity lowering at the random access was less by way of experiment.

I was convinced that this CompactFlash was one of the best choices.

Current consumption might be somewhat large as the anxiety point.

It is because the surface felt that it is warm a little when I use this CompactFlash after the reason repeatedly does the rate test.

Video on this card was good, ran all the way to the 4gb mark and having shot 7 burst of video, card performed well. Read speed is slower than my 16gb transcend 600x card but that was to be expected for this size of a card. No errors so far, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. On the packaging, card is made by Dane Electric so not a fly by night company but not exactly known for stellar speed and performance either. If you want faster more reliable, by the top end Sandisk or Lexar product, otherwise this will do fine against the Kingston and Transcend cards out there.

When I see 600x speed, that's what I expect. That is NOT what the Duracell 600x brought to my table!. I have a Transcend 32 gig 400x and it smokes it. I bought 4 of the Duracell and have opened 2 that are equally unexceptably slow! I saved 10 bucks each in price by going with these instead of Transcend but took a hit on performance. I shoot HD video and can not afford something this small to screw up a big project. Buy Transcend or Sandisk! They have proven their performance. Duracell just proved to me they don't hold up. The most important thing to remember is this: What are you really expecting? You won't be getting a high quality do-all camcorder for $150. This is an interesting little gizmo that can store about 90 minutes of video on a 512MB card at 320X240. It's running about 25-30 frames a second, and the quality is somewhere between that of a camera phone and a low end tape camcorder.

If you that's all you're asking of the 301V, you'll be happy with it.

The controls take a minute or two to get used to them, as essentially you have one menu for setup controlled by one button, and another button for the camera function menu. Take the time to preset the focus range and white balance, it makes a difference.

It fits in your hand fairly comfortably, and it is recognized on a PC or Mac as a mass storage device to copy files over. They do record in an .asf format, which works with no problem in Windows but takes a few hoops for a Mac. (See the reviews below.)

A few things kept me from rating it higher: (And remember I rated based on what I expected, a cheap and semi-expendable video gadget)

There's no lens cap.

It has some knurled rings that look like focus/zoom controls and beg twisting or turning yet don't do anything. Somebody will break it trying to turn those.

It is built out of REALLY thin plastic.

Still, the LCD display isn't half bad and I can live with the video quality. I think the Musteks are more popular, but this one fits in your hand better (Comes with a grip strap and a carrying case) and it kind of grows on you after awhile.

A few people have said that this camera is awful when it isn't so before I begin this review i will say one thing: If you are looking for a high quality DV camera go and spend £600 on a brand new Sony camera. Do you honestly expect broadcast quality at this price?

When I decided to buy this camera I was actually looking for a simple point-and-click stills camera to take to music festivals with me. I chose this because the features are amazing for the price (£72 including postage from Ebay). (the cheapest brand-name camera i could find was closer to £150 and out of my budget range!)

In my experience the photos have been of a very high quality, the flash is bright, The LCD screen is also very clear (and it rotates 270 degrees and folds flat so you can watch the screen with it flat against the camera. This feature is normally only on really expensive cameras). 3.2 Megapixels is a very respectable maximum resolution and at full zoom (4x digital) there is only a very minimal loss in quality on still photos. As a point and click camera I have had excellent results both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. The red-eye reduction and 10sec self-timer modes are also good features.

The video function is a great little bonus and the overall quality is very good, (and it's very easy to record through your video player onto VHS or DVD if you want to.) The best mode to use is 320x240 resolution at 30 frames per second. Please don't expect this to be as good as the really expensive cameras... that's not what it's designed for. I will say that is is as good as most fullscreen videos available on the internet. It is very watchable and it doesn't cry out as bad quality. I was actually very surprised at how good the quality was. (The video quality is much better than even the most expensive brand-named still camera's video clip output)

The camera is incredibly easy to connect to the PC. I have windows XP and it was simply a case of plugging it in. It opens as a USB Mass Storage device. I much prefer this to using clumsy software as with some other software. I am still yet to find a software program that actually makes it easier to organise your photos. i don't think they exist! :-)

There are a few extra purchases that i'd recommend to get that extra bit of enjoyment out of the camera:

1. Get some really good rechargeable batteries. I have heard that it eats alkalines for breakfast. I have never used alkalines with mine as i invested in some 2600mAh Ni-MH batteries and a charger. With these the camera lasts for a good 12 hours or so continuous filming, which I think is exceptional.

2. Buy a high-capacity SD card. I would especially recommend a 66x Ultra SD card. It'll cost you a tiny bit extra but makes the pictures load up much quicker. I picked up a 512MB one for around £30, and they are getting cheaper all the time. On my 512MB SD card i average around an hour and a half of video.

The problem with this camera is that it looks like a more expensive camera, so people expect far too much of it. Definitely buy this camera if you want an easy to use point-and-clicker. It is cheaper than every other stills camera without compromising on quality. If you treat the video function as an added bonus, you will be very pleasantly surprised.

I would definitely give this camera 10/10, as it gave me exactly what I expected from it and more.

I researched a lot of inexpensive tapeless cameras and bought this one from Axes for around $150. For that price, it's an OK camera. I'm a Mac user so right away there were problems with the movie files the camera identifies as a mass storeage device so you can get the movies out of it, but they're not quite really MP4 compliant files. The're actually ASF (MS) an MP4 variant that plays in Windows Media Player for Windows, but not for Mac. The bundled software is Win Only (which I knew) but is quirky in XP. For Mac, Mplayer (from Sourceforge) will play the movie files with decent rendering, and ffmpeg (also from Sourceforge) can convert them (needs 2 passes) to real MP4 files that will import to Quick Time or iMovie if you have a G4 or better Mac. The movie quality is only fair visible blocking even on stills and pixelation when panning but about what you'd expect for a camera in this price range. 30 fps is only available in 320 X 200 mode. VGA size captures at 15 fps so fast motion is jerkey. The still photos are good for 3.2 MPixel, but saturation sets in early. Almost any 3 MP still campera will do better on stills, if that's what you're after. Invest in a set of four 2000 ma/hr rechargable batteries it chugs alkalines like a thirsty welder swigs beer, speaking of which, for the price of a couple of bottles of Lager the folks who market this camera could have ported the Windows movie file extraction and conversion software over to Cocoa so it would run in OSX. For a cheap, very small unobtrusive tapeless video camera, this one has a nice feel and fair quality. If you're a Windows user and don't mind software that mysteriously quits or freezes once in a while, the bunlded aps are OK and there's always Media Player if you just want to watch and not edit. Mac users can get it to work if you know what you're doing with ffmpg and Mplayer (free open source apps) but it ain't easy. If you have a NTSC to DV converter, you can play the files right off the camera using the video output, but you can't get rid of the data display, so you're stuck with the battery indicator and duration timer on screen. Also the audio rendering from the NTSC output is very distorted a result of the camera's crummy audio CODEC. Too bad, since the audio quality of the video files is actually pretty good. I travel with this camera and use it casually in my consulting work -I wanted something I wouldn't get too upset over if it got stolen. Nonetheless, I'm saving up to buy a Fisher FVD-C1.

When I purchased this item, I was expecting a video recorder that can also take still photographs. Instead it is a still camera with video recording capabilities. The product name is misleading.

That does not mean that is a bad camera. In fact it is a great camera, if the user intends to use it primarily for still photographs. For video recording I would recommend something else. The resolution is only 640x480 and the results are heavily pixelated videos. The device also produces horrible monophonic sound recording.

This is a great little camera and extremely easy to use. I took it out of the box and within an hour I was very comfortable with all the features. The video is good but you may need to edit the brightness from the viewer options to make it perfect. The stills, what can you say, it's 3 mega-pixels...very good. the 4x digital zoom was very clear. The Audio is a bit distorted on the camera but when you play it back from your pc it is crystal clear. Overall I am very pleased with this camera especially for the money invested.
