Unit arrived in good time, and well packaged. Problem was it was configured for NTSC and not for PAL. I'm in a PAL country and would have expected unit to be set for that system. Onseller did not want to know about it! quite disappointing. I finally got hold of technical person at the manufacturer and received very detailed instructions for reprogramming unit to PAL.
Thanks to him!!Bought this with my Panasonic HPX-170 in lieu of P2 cards, as the value over P2 (GB per $) is bar none. P2 is about $10/GB, while this is under $3 now ($5 when I purchased)! If you are recording long format events from a tripod this is invaluable, just connect your camera to it via firewire and off you go. Records over 600 minutes in HD! Then, just connect to your computer via firewire and transfer the footage much faster than real-time, or edit directly off the Firestore! So easy to use.I bought one of these here on Amazon recently. I bought it defective, it was dropped. That's what got me interested, I knew it would be easy to replace the hard drive, and have a working unit. I got it cheap but no such luck, the problem was not with the hard drive but with the battery contacts, which I fixed. Then I noticed it no longer lit up and the hard drive no longer turned on. Checking as many things as I could with-out a schematic proved unsuccessful. So with my tail between my legs I went to the company's website to see how much they charged to fix it. $350 that was exorbitant! I wasn't about to pay that kind of money. I asked if I could get a schematic diagram... No. I asked if I could get a block diagram... No. I asked if I could buy the service cables, the company wouldn't even answer me on this. The point here is that this company sucks. Sucks your money out of your pocket big time, and will not allow technical people like myself to repair my own unit. Can't do it with-out a schematic.
