The camera arrived well packaged, in its own neat little storage case with additional packing inside. This makes what I found even more surprising: The camera itself was in two parts. The back part of the camera casing had become separated from the front and the on/off and mode buttons had gotten loose and fallen into the camera. Preliminary attempts to reconnect the two halves of the camera show that I'd need glue or something similar to secure them together. And if I could assemble it properly, I'd honestly still worry about the buttons sliding free and falling into the casing.On the plus side, the little tin storage box it came in is really very nice.
My advice: Look elsewhere for a cheap camera.
I purchased this video cam for it's tiny size and price to use in my radio control airplanes. It is better than anything I have seen up to $50.
The programming cd which comes with it is not very useful or user friendly but you really don't need it unless you want to use the camera as a webcam. I take hi def videos with sound and transfer them by removing my memory card and putting it into an micro card adapter to play or save on my computer.
The camera does not include a micro memory card (like the kind in your cellphone) but you can get them anyplace for a few bucks.
The camera displays the time and date on the bottom of the videos and you will have to edit the old factory date file with MS Notepad (or a text editor) for the correct date. Once you do that it keeps the time and date like a watch. (I would like to have the option to remove the date from the picture.)
The built in rechargeable battery works well for at least an hour or more between charges.
All things considered, this camera makes decent quality videos and sound for it's price and aside from the little annoying date quirk and poor cd instructions, for $15-$20 you will be amazed. For that reason I am still going with 5 stars.
