I have been using this place shifter for about 4 months with minimal issues. I have a linksys MIMO router using MAC filtering and WPA TKIP encryption. I get about 100 feet of Good Picture before I run out of signal strength. Sometimes it fails to initialize through Media Center and I have to cycle power on the device before it will work. Got it for my Girlfriend so she can watch TV via Windows Media Center 2005 when shes in the kitchen or on the treadmill. I am extremely pleased with it so far.I'm amazed at the setup for this. It is %100 software based with no ability to set it up via web browser which is unheard off on a network product like this, especially since it acts as a Wireless Access Point/Router.Setting up the PCTV is a nightmare. I have updated the software and firmware to the current version as of 02/03/07 and it still made my wireless network router freeze. As a test I tried two different wireless routers and had to turn the power on and off on the router due to freezing multiple times with both units. That creates a huge issue obviously, because if you can only access the unit via their proprietary software, you can't update the firmware, and you can't manually setup IP addresses, ports, security, etc. to diagnose problems. So what are you left with? Burning up your one free phone call to tech support.
Once I did get the PCTV to work locally, I received an error message that it could not connect to the internet for remote viewing. All other internet applications connected fine and I even shut down my firewall which tells me that their Remote Viewing Server was, and 12 hours later, still is down.
They have a very long way to go with this product, especially without the ability to set it up with a browser.
As an alternative, the Sling Media: Slingbox Pro worked like a charm right out of the box and, yes, it can be configured with a browser!

I was sorely tempted by this device. Not only does it have great broadcast features, but it can send your TV signal to your PC. Then you can save shows to your hard drive. But rather than being a TiVo killer, it's got zero. You can't program recordings at all! I can't believe they missed this golden opportunity; probably would've taken all of 3 programmer days to include the functionality.I don't need anything fancy; just VCR-level recording on my PC.

Setting up to Dish network was pretty easy. Setting up to my wireless network not too bad. Had to disable MAC address filter but have not researched and tested security features of PCTV To Go. The setup was software assisted. I am not sure if you can access device through Web Browser. Once hooked up, it was choppy on a 50Mbps wireless connection. Once I switched out my wireless card with my gaming wireless adapter (100Mbps), it worked like a champ installed on a Dell running Windows XP, 3.0Ghz processor w\ 1Gb of RAM that was hooked up to a 32in LCD TV. PCTV automatically is set to back up live TV for 60 minutes. This is nice if the phone rings and you don't press the record button. You can record your programs with one touch of a button. 30 minutes of actual recording live TV took 600MB of harddrive space. Have not tried remote service yet or HD. Advice after first day: You need to be hooked up to a network that has at least 100Mbps connection rate or you will probably be disappointed and have room on the hard drive. Did ask question what the max connection rates are when wired and wireless since the tech specs out there seem vague.
