PLEASE NOTE: the other reviewer bought a refurbished item. Please don't confuse his bad luck with a previously repaired item, for the quality that this vcr really has.

I have approx 3000 movies on vhs. I wanted something to guarantee watchability in the future, as things go digital. Makes no sense to re-purchase everything I have on vhs. If you are like me, you also purchased another phonograph and needles to ensure you can play your vinyl records too. That aside, you will not be disappointed with the quality (4 heads!) and the user friendly set up. No manual needed. Onscreeen display, and I cannot believe how light this unit is! Size is compact and fits everywhere I have put it so far.

Bottom line, go for it. There is no buyer remorse here.

I have regretted purchasing this VCR since it arrived a year ago.

I had to send the first 2 that I received back because they didn't work at all. Finally, third times the charm... I got one that worked! But its got problems... I watch a lot of prime time tv and 2 soaps and dvr is not available to me at this time... so when the video on my old VCR started to go out I had to get a new one. Unfortunately, the stores no longer carry just plain VCRs and I didn't have enough money at the time to pay for a DVD/VCR combo. So I found this one and ordered it. Now don't get me wrong... I use it alot, but I have to deal with its flaws.

First, if I record anything in SLP, it is not watchable! It skips and you can't understand a word that is being said plus a white line covers most of the screen. So SP it is and that means only 2 hours of recording time at max!

Secondly, I can not rewind tapes all the way to the beginning or the VCR rejects them and spits them out. This also cuts down on recording time and occasionally it cuts off before the end of my program!

These problems started within months of starting to use this product. With the cost of the VCR, cost of shipping, cost of sending it back (I paid for the first time but refused to pay for the second) and the wait to actually be able to use it... I would have been better off just forking over the extra money and buying the combo.

Oh forgot to mention... my first review of this product was shortly after receiving it, and I only stated that I had trouble getting one that worked to begin with. I received an email from the seller asking me to remove my negative comments, because it was their livelihood to have decent reviews... what about the customer? hmmmm

I received this for Christmas for my children to watch old VHS movies. It quit working today less than 6 months old. Be prepared to replace it soon if you buy it. We didn't even use it that often. Merry Christmas! LOL

We got this for the kids to watch all their old movies that we had accumulated. We didn't need anything fancy and thought this would fit the bill. It quit rewinding after about 3 months and quit playing completely not long after. It is a worthless piece of JUNK!

You have been warned Stay away or lose your money. This merchant grossly misrepresented this VCR as factory reconditioned, but it was not. The unit was unable to rewind properly (1st use). The unit also will not release my VCR tape (2nd use) so they owe me a new tape as well.
