If you're getting this because you're looking for a cheap night vision camera to conduct an investigation. Believe me, it's worth your time and money to just buy the pricey ones. I've invested hundreds in good equipment. I got one of these on a whim from toys 'r' us just to see how it would do. I tested it in a room with the lots off, then tossed it in a cabinet and haven't touched it since. It's worthless.
The range for night vision is 3 feet. I turned off the lights in my bedroom and tested it out and could make out the wall 3 feet away.
It is cheaply made, and would break into a million pieces if you were to drop it.
It does save to an SD card, the picture quality in an average/daylight setting is really not bad and the sound is mediocre.
It also comes with RCA cables to plug it directly into your tv. There is an LCD screen you flip open on the side so you dont have to use the viewfinder and that works good.
If you are expecting a night vision camcorder for a decent price, I dont recommend this one, but if you want a cheap camcorder that saves to an SD card that has average video and sound quality, buy it.I do like this camera as it is lightweight. However, the sensitivity for night vision is very poor. you have to be 6-10 inches fron the subject to get any image on night vision mode. It is a nice starter camera for the kids to play with and regular images shot with it are very good quality.
