I am very pleased with the performance of this dvd player. It does everything its supposed to, its small and sleek, and yes the remote does have a subtitle button. I have a higher priced dvd player that wouldn't play recordable or rewritable discs, but this Curtis player plays every disc I put in. The picture is clear and the sound is great, thinking about purchasing another for my living room. I would recommend this player to anybody on a budget and looking to play burned discs as well.

The only reason this got 1 star is because I couldn't give it 0. It's awful. Do not waste your money, no matter how much cheaper it is than everything else or how little you think you're going to use it. Not only do I want my money back, I want back the time I spent going to the store to buy it, not to mention the countless hours I have now spent waiting for it to work. . . or not. I bought this as a cheap dvd player to put in my son's room. It's extremely temperamental. If a dvd has the slightest smudge on it, the player reads it as a bad disc. It's even read a brand new, straight out of the box dvd as a bad disc. Every single disc it hasn't been able to read has played just fine on another (not particularly high quality) dvd player in the house. Even when it does finally decide to read a disc, it can take quite a long time for the player to load and read the disc, so you wait a long time just to get to the menu. The buttons on the remote control are very tiny, hard to push, easy to stick, and in no particular order. It's full of buttons that are completely unnecessary for a dvd player of this "quality," making it ridiculously jumbled. All in all, I want stars back for rating this product.

The CURTIS DVD1050 PROGGRESSIVE SCAN DVD player is one of the best purchases i made all year. It works great and for the price you can't beat it. I recommend this to anyone who needs a small dvd player.

I really like the DVD players. The only problem I have is that I also purchased the suggested HDMI cords only to fid out that the DVD player does not have HDMI jacks. Other than that they ( I bought a couple of them) have worked great so far.

I bought this for a kids bed room and have been using it for about 4 months. The DVD player does everything its supposed to. It plays videos clearly, (both sound and picture are excellent) and has a sleek and clean look to it. I have had no problems with using the remote control.

It does the job well and for this price, it is a very good deal.
