Pyramid 4000 Auto-Totaling Time Clock

I had the old time clock and this new one is great. Large display. User friendly. Excellent item.

The Pyramid 4000 has really nice functionality in particular the progressive time stamps that show hours worked that day and cumulative hours for the week. We have a flextime small business in which people start and finish at different times, rather than a rigid shift structure. The progressive time stamps are helpful to keep people aware of not running overtime or working too many hours. Also helps save time for our bookkeeper.

Where the Pyramid 4000 fails though is in the traction system for pulling cards through the time stamper. It doesn't grip the cards well enough to reliably pull them through. So the cards don't get stamped, the employees have to pull them through and retry repeatedly. You want rock solid reliability from a time clock there's money at stake after all and the Pyramid 4000 doesn't deliver! People have to end up writing in times, in which case the progressive stamp benefits don't work, etc. One Big Hassle!! Why can't anybody make a reliable machine???

We did time cards the old fashioned way and just rounded up the hours each day. Before I bought the timeclock I went through 3 weeks of cards to see if indeed I would save enough with accurate timing to pay for the clock. I was losing close to $30 each week on just 15 employees. This was a no-brainer and it paid for itself quickly. Ribbons are easy to replace and last a long time. The time cards are custom order (which was a big negative for me) but even factoring that in, the clock is still a big money saver. Highly recommend.
