the monitor on my old Samsung SOD-14m unit failed. I don't want to re-install new cameras. this adapter helped to make my existing cameras work with my DVR. I can't use the two way voice communications with the outside cameras like my original unit did, but it will record audio and video fine. It does need an independent power source for the cameras, I found a spare 12v unit in my junk basket that came with some other powered device as a charger, and it works fine.
