Rode Videomic Pro with VMP Deadcat Wind Muff

Rode Videomic Pro with VMP Deadcat Wind MuffI ordered this product in March 2012 for use on a camcorder and DSLR. I realized from past experience that the on-board microphone for either camera is not suitable for capturing quality sound. What I needed was a microphone that was suitable for loud concert music to a quiet seminar. I searched the 'net and found Rode to be the answer. It is able to capture clear and crisp sound and having the Deadcat helps in windy situations. This product is worth the money.

Made my own adapter to attach it to a sony hdr pj790v... Now i have the same image quality as the hxr nx30u but with better audio and for significantly less money. Sound is crystal clear broadcast level.

It's mounting straps are delicate and difficult to reset after removing them, otherwise it's a solid performer for DSLR video.

Not a bad little mic. Used it once so far on a job a very windy environment and the dead cat did a fairly good job of suppression. Plastic construction keeps the weight down. I have had (and still do) a lot of mics over my 46 years of shooting but this is my first plastic one so the jury is out. I am concerned that the flimsy cable will be the first thing to go. Then what?
