Encore ENMMP-X210 Digital Media Player for TV and Computer

I use this in our camping trailer. Was the only one I could find with VGA out so I could use it with a PC monitor.

DOES NOT SUPPORT MP4 VIDEO! This is by far the biggest drawback for this unit. I have to convert mp4 to RM as RM works great on this device. Its construction is cheap especially the remote but for the price it is a handy device.

Pros:

VGA and component out for old monitors & non-HDTV. I have it working with a 32" CRT via component video and the pic is really nice. I have also used the VGA to hook it up to 50" 1080P plasma and it about as good as can be expected. It does not look good using component out on a HDTV.

I like that it has a volume control on the remote. This is a must if you are using it with a computer monitor.

Cons:

It has a chronic problem with "judder" as the video seems to randomly speed up and slow down. This can give you a sense of motion sickness or something like that. Also, the Encore has issues with audio synching, especially if you pause the video. The same AVI files don't do this on other players.

White color is not the best.

Overall:

I wanted this for the non-HDMI, high quality output. The price is okay, too. The Encore is just OK, and there are some really great options at reasonable prices now that I would go for if I were to make the purchase again.
