UPDATE: Pyle got back to me in 1 hour with some instructions on using Audacity plus I had found other info online. Between the two I actually got the system working. Still need to get another add-on to convert from WAV to MP3 but that's probably not a problem. Real problem seems to be that they didn't include the information about Audacity from the get-go. Changing rating from 1 star to 3.

So far so bad. For the life of me I can't figure out how to transfer the tapes from the unit to the computer. I downloaded Audacity as suggested by another review. I hooked the unit up to my cpu and it was added by the computer as new hardware ready to go. However, if I put a tape into the record side and start it, absolutely nothing seems to happen tho it's obvious the tape is running. The instructions suck and there is no expanded information on the web site. I've send a request for help to the company and I'll give them 48 hours before this unit is sent back.

The recording for cassettes to CD's has very good recording sound. With the gain knob in the back you can adjust the recording level. Instruction how to record has missing instruction.

Note: You have to download audacity-win-1.2.6 it's free to download. Before you start recording you have to go into the sound manager and change your recorder from your original to USB audacity.

I still can't lesson to the music while recording. I have to call tech support to find out how. This was a present for my 81 year old mother. She is having no trouble recording and is really enjoy lessoning to her newly made CD's.

Yes I would recommend this to others.

Like others here have stated the sound on this unit is good but documentation is lacking, specifically relating to the fact that you need to get your own recording software and figure out how to do the mp3 converting yourself. An additional joy that I was given was that the wrong type of USB cable was included in the box I got. They included an A/B when an A/A is required. When I emailed their support department asking for a replacement and offering to send back the wrong cable I was completely ignored and never got a reply.

Sound is clear and interfacing to the computer was easy. The operation manual needs a more information on how MP3's are created. No software is distributed with the unit so you have to use whatever is already on your computer. I had no problem creating .wma files using the Windows 7 sound recorder from the USB input but couldn't figure out how to get the MP3 files and ended up having to buy a file converter to get the MP3's.

It worked for awhile, but then the tapes were not going in smoothly. Had to keep adjusting the tapes to make the door close.
