Dish Network 522 Dual Tuner DVR Receiver

Good idea, but poorly executed. I am a dish network customer and have this DVR. It will randomly erase saved programs and not free up the disk space. For example, I have 30 hrs of recorded programs and 70 hrs free, I came home to find I now have 10 hrs of prerecorded programs and 70 hrs free. What happened to my 20 hrs of programs (or the associated disk space)? Dish network tech support (now outsourced to India), was no help. Their responce was "They will do that sometimes, so sorry. you can RMA this and try your luck with another unit". No Thanks, and no thanks to the Dish network DVR 522. I wish I had done a Google search with dvr 522 problems before I got this.

Had this for a few years. Works just fine to record what I want, when I want it to. Highly programmable. Just wish it had more space than 100 hours but then, that may just be the user pushing the limits of the storage. *wink*

That other guy must have gotten a lemon. The thing works wonderful! It records what I want when I want and only new if I want. It does what is supposed to and maintains itself. I love this device and dont know how I lived before it came out.

This is a SD unit that does fine job and has lots of recording time (abt 100 hours). An excellent solution for anyone without a "monster" HDTV in their viewing room. This unit has an easy to use remote control with lots of useful feature for time shifting your favorite shows. Dish Network has several programing plans, something that should suit the needs of any everyone, from the heavy TV viewer to the casual viewer. Good solution at an attractive price point.
