There were no reviews when I purchased this item, then after I bought it I saw there was one that gave a very bad review......so I was nervous. I got the camera and opened it up. It looked fine, i was light. I had bought a SD card for it and put that in. The picture in the screen was like fuzzy and grainy. I tried diiferent settings.... nothing changed it. I was also very blurry. So I took some video to see if when played back on the TV it looke better..... NOPE! It was such low quality! My daughters leapfrog leap pad take better video. DO NO BUY THIS!!!!! Save your self the trouble!

O.K., finally there are some poor reviews of this piece of monkey crap. Received as a gift from my amazing grandmother. How was she to know that this camera took worse video than an old VHS camcorder? When I got it originally, I was wondering why the picture looked so awful. So, I changed the resolution to full HD (FHD), I changed the quality to Very Fine, bought a 16 gb SD card, and tried again. Took some great video of my son around the Christmas tree that can never be duplicated, and also never watched because this paperweight piece of possum pee makes it look like super 8 footage from when my mother was a baby.

I figured it must just be a defective camera, so I called customer service. I talked to a man whom I could barely understand who seemed to be having a party in the background. He seemed to be very upset that he couldn't understand me, though. (Must have been my Ohio accent.) After an hour on the phone, he informed me that I could send the camera to Sakar Intl' and they would send a replacement. I did this, and just a short month later, I received a camera that, SURPRISE, was the exact amount of awful that the other one was. So, if you're still not sure if you should purchase this camera, I'll say that no, you should not.

Addendum: I read a review on this same product/different listing about how the poor lighting is why the quality was so bad. Then why does my 5 MP phone look like I could be Spielberg's cinematographer in comparison? Still think it is awful. Sorry, guy that probably works for Vivitar.

Bought this camera at a local retail store in town...not on amazon. Tried to look up the reviews everywhere online before I bought this but couldn't find any so I went ahead and bought it. BAD CHOICE. This was purchased as a Christmas present for my 10 yr old son and even HE could tell the quality was horrible. He was completely let down. The picture is grainy in any mode, lines throughout the picture in any resolution. Audio has mechanical sound when played back. It films in 1080p but what it films is unwatchable!!! We tried every setting, every mode...it's all crap. STAY AWAY!!!!!

I bought this for my 10yr old daughter and she was polite about it and didn't want to seem un grateful but she says "Dad the picture and sound is really bad".

I tried everything I could to make it better but nothing helped. It takes AAA batteries but they dont last long.

Not worth the money.

I was given this camera as a Christmas present. I have played with it and tried to get the quality of the video and the pictures to improve. Every setting looked the same. Grainy and unwatchable. The person that bought it for me also bought one for themselves. Both of us have been greatly disappointed by this product. Do not waste your time or money on this product.
