Digital Recording Microphone

After much research as to what would work with my Kodak zi-8 and then attempting to find it in a B & M store I resorted to online search. Bingo! I found it and at a terrific price. The dealer had in my hands even faster than his estimate. The movable arm broke right after I got it so it is locked into position.The mic has excellent sound quality if you are filming and speaking directly into the camera. It falls seriously short when mounted on a tripod and filming. The voice is distant and has a strange sound. I continue to look. I need something to do my video interviews for my real estate business but found this is not the product. I am now looking for something that will produce decent sound as I interview someone from about six feet away. However, if you can get this product at a decent price I would suggest your purchase it understanding its limitations.

This mini microphone attaches to my voice recorder and is a perfect fit. The quality of the sound is so much better than I expected and when I transfer file to my PC, it is also of excellent quality. I'm using this recorder for acappella singing.

I bought this mic to improve the sound quality on my small high def camera. It was recommended in all the reviews as a perfect accessory for the camera. Well, guess what, it produces such a hiss (whether in an isolated indoor environment or outside, whether as a clip-mic or a bit further away) that I'm better off with no mic at all. I've tried it in many different configurations thinking that it must be the way I've been using it...but in the end this is simply a waste of money.

I tried this on multiple devices (even those listed on Sony web site) and in every case the audio was worse. Especially with the Kodak zi8.

This device does not work. Do not waste your money.

If a additional add-on microphone is not powered it will not work.
