I originally bought a rikomagic which failed after 38 days. I had to chat with an Amazon rep to get a return label and pay a restocking fee. It seems these devices do not honor warranty after the Amazon 30 day return policy.

That being said this device from the start has been much better. I will be comparing the devices in this review.

Blue-tooth worked on this device not the rikomagic. I was able to find, pair, and use my Logitech diNovo Mini Keyboard.

usb ethernet worked on this device, and again not on the rikomagic. I tried a usb device using the OTG and USB ports. It worked on both (sort of) The OTG port worked but at a very slow .09 Mbps (mega bits) the usb port reported a 5.2 Mbps. My dsl provider uses a 6 Mbps line. I used the OOkla app from speedtest.net on the Google market.

An App I use on all my devices QuickSSHd worked on this device not Rikomagic. I recommend this app It provides an easy to use encrypted SFTP connection to my android devices.

Other things I really like

1 The media player works with upnp/dlna I was able to use it to play through ushare and rygel.

2 Imediashare recognizes the device as a screen to play videos on. In other words I can play from my phone to the tv wirelessly.

3 It works very well with the MultiPicture live wallpaper. I set this to 5 seconds point it at a folder for the pictures I want to see and my tv is a giant picture frame when it is not being used for other things.

The 1 thing that annoys me about the device is the double arrow that makes the status bar disappear. It seems to make that happen until the device is rebooted. I have not found a way to make it come back any other way.

This is my second one, i bought another one a couple of months ago but 2 days after this one arrived it died on me. These bad boys were my option to update a couple of LED HD non Smart tvs but not sure if they are going to last what one could expect. Will give some time to this new one and see how long it lasts before trying another one.

THE MINI USB PORT FOR POWER IS VERY LIGHT AND IF YOU CONNECT POWER WIRE FEW TIMES.

THE MICRO POWER PORT WONT WORK AND EVERY THING BECOMES DEAD. CAN NOT PLAY ANY GAMES

LIKE TEMPLE RUN OR SURF . THE BUILT IS VERY LIGHT. THE USB AND OTHER PORTS SHALL BE MADE STRONG.

WIFI WAS GOOD AND BETTER WITH RJ-45.

Amazon is not to fault for the product failing, and I believe there is a bad apple in a bushel. I would consider buying from the company again, however.

I also did not try to change the ROM.

I simply turned it off, and upon trying to power it up again I got the error code of two 'tux' penguins and it would go no further. Simply a manufacture defect or faulty / corrupted image.

It happens.
