After recieving it I must say this product does everything it promises. The Pics are snapshot quality which is fine. The video playback was surprisingly good. No problems with the touchscreen. plays music and FM fine, quality is good with headphones, onboard speaker is just what it is.
I did tell my daughter that she should treat this delicately so that it would last. there is a lot crammed into it and that means small boards and small delicate parts. If you or your child can take care of things I recommend it.
1 caveat, I didn't get a chance to use the software that came with it to convert video because my windows program told me it was not confirmed compatable with my system and would require changing some system settings at risk. I opted not to use it . It's not worth the risk and there are plenty of online converters, some free, some trial, that work well with this. ( The one I got as a trial puts a watermark on the vid except in FLV which is what I encoded Finding Nemo in, It looks awesome!I have mixed thoughts on this product. I bought it for my 5 year old to use because she loves gadgets, photos, music and movies. She learned to use it very quickly and relatively well.
The player itself is very lightweight. That is good for carrying but also scares me for durability.
The touchscreen is fairly responsive--I would say it needs a medium pressure from the stylus or finger to choose items.
The screen is not as clear as I had expected for a small device like this, but it is also decent. Cartoons and movies look pretty well.
The photos taken are snapshot-quality. Decent for a kid. Surprisingly, they actually look better once uploaded to my computer than they do on the screen.
The sound is decent, the external speaker fairly loud for the little size.
The menus are so-so. They are what I expect from such a basic, low-cost, do-all product. A bit too deep at times, are not uniform when using one feature versus another, etc.
My biggest problem is one that seems to definitely be part of the product line--the headphone jack. Within days of getting this item, the external speaker would not turn off when the headphones were inserted. Amazon was great and shipped a replacement quickly. Alas, I tried the headphone jack immediately and it worked 2 times! Literally! It had the same problem in less than about 2 minutes! Apparently, other customers have had this same issue. After playing with this, I have come to realize that putting slight pressure on the sides of the case near the jack solves the problem for a moment--it seems that there is a bad contact somewhere in the internal design.
I don't have a final view on this product. I would like to see that the headphone jack is just a temporary production issue. But, I don't want to keep getting more of the same as I try to find out a solution. I have sent the problem to ematic, waiting for a response still. I will update this later if I get more info.I bought this mp3 player for my daughter. It worked great for about a week and then the jack for the headphones wouldn't work correctly. She hooks in the headphones and the music will come out the headphones and the speakers. She has had other mp3 players that have lasted years and some didn't cost as much as this one. In fact, they still work she just wanted a newer up-to-date one. This was a big disappointment.I bought this for my daughter for Christmas as an alternative to the apple ipod. She was happy with it on Christmas even though it was completely made of plastic, but 3 days after Christmas it broke. The music started playing out of both the headphones and the speaker. Do not waste your money.I have to teen daughters & bought them each one in different colors for Christmas. I bought one from Amazon & one from Walmart.com & they are crappy! The one I bought on Amazon won't keep a charge. We charged it for 30 hours & when unplugged, it kept the charge for about 14 minutes. Charged it again & again for about 15 hours & it wouldn't even fully charge. The one we bought off of Walmart.com keeps having the screen freeze...terrible product.
