Seagate DB35.2 160GB UDMA/100 7200RPM 2MB IDE Hard Drive

Seagate DB35.2 160GB UDMA/100 7200RPM 2MB IDE Hard Drivebought the PATA but needed sata...got an adaptor. Drive would not work...changed bios to every option without success.

Put drive into 2nd computer pata connection...drive still wouldn't work....company charges $50 restocking fee. Will not use again.

I purchased one of these seagate hdds for my dvr I use for surveillance camera system. The dvr originally came with the same model seagate hdd. The original seagate stopped recording after about 2 years of use. I replaced it with a western digital with twice the storage. The original had 160Gb whereas the replacement western digital had 320Gb. The western digital produced ocassional color distortions such as color squares and shimmering colors in the image. It also had gaps in the recordings. I contacted the manufacturer and was given a new hdd (same model and same capacity). That one did the same as the prior western digital. I recently puchased the seagate hdd 160Gb. The seagate produces clean and clear images with no distortions of any type. In addition, the seagate does not have gaps in the recordings.

This hard drive is far to small for the price. I can buy a 500GB seagate sata drive for this price.

Needed to refurbish an old system whose hard drive (SCSI) was unworkable because proprietary drivers were not available.

Pros:

Plugged it in and it worked

Excellent price

Has been quite stable till now and I was able to install Windows 7 without a hitch

Cons:

This drive comes by itself and no peripherals (connector cable etc) come with it.
