Okay this is my video review of the pyle home PTCDs5U. It is basically an all in one sound system which has virtually every kind of playing device imaginable. All the way from Lp's and casettes to mp3. For a bedroom or living room this has adequate sound power. I am impressed by all the featureseven 1/8 jack or usb for your mp3. Quality of build is above expectationsin a matt black wood with a sort of 20s-30s vintage look. Radio dial even moves like an old time player. I am back to playing my lps againvery happy.

I couldn't be happier so far with this purchase. Despite the small internal speakers, the volume and quality of sound is more than ample to fill our 2 bedroom apartment and probably annoy the upstairs neighbor on occasion. It is no thumper, and it lacks the fullness an audiophile would cravebut for the money and size it is sufficient. If you wanted a be-all end-all system, you wouldn't be looking at this happy little thing anyhow, you would be over in Sony or Jensen building a piece-by-piece rack system. My intent here is value for the dollar and between the media options offered and the quality of the device, this was a good buy.

It is getting hard to find a quality vinyl player these days that has more to offer than just the turntable itself. This unit covers all the major media bases. I have not used the conversion to mp3 yet, but that was a big plus in my consideration. Get that vinyl onto digital so you can have the good old stuff everywhere you go without repurchasing it. Don't let your musical roots fade away with the media it is stored on RIAA be damned (literally).

The only con I have found so far is a double edged sword while the ability to tune in AM/FM stations is lacking a bit due to its manual nature (the tuner is the white oval you see in the image) that is also a good part of it's charm it is a mix of old school and modern, and it does so in a classy manner. I would sooner have that white oval manual tuner than a second digital display (such as the one below it which is the control display for CD's and USB device folders).

Good device, I would give it 5 stars but it would have to deliver above dollar value to rate a 5th one. It does great at being what it is but more speakers (perhaps side mounted) and a fuller quality would have gotten that 5th one nailed down.

I'm no expert, but I absolutely love this record player. It looks even better in person, and I love the old style mixed in with the new. I can even hook it up to my Bose mini sound system and it sounds great!

Want Pyle Home PTCDS5U Vintage Turntable with CD/Cassette/Radio/Aux-In/USB/SD/MP3 and Vinyl to MP3 Encod Discount?

I was very pleased with the Pyle PTCDS5U stereo. It did everything I wanted, play music from my flash drives, micro SD cards, cassettes, records, CD's, and from the AM/FM radio. I really don't understand the poor feedback people give because they are not satisfied with the sound from the internal speaker. If you want better sound, just plug this unit into external speakers. I don't see the big deal. I'm just glad I can finally play all of my music media with one small compact unit instead of separate components for everything.

I was disappointed to find out that this unit only plays records at 33 1/3 and 45 RPM speeds. I neglected to check on the record speeds as I figured since this was a newer model than the Pyle PTCDS2UI, it would still have the ability to play records at 78 RPM speed. The Pyle PTCDS2UI also has a dock to play music from your iPhone or iPod. I'm just not sure why a newer model would have less than the previous model.

This unit also comes with a remote control, which really comes in handy when you are playing tons of music from your flash drives in the USB port. The remote and the unit itself has buttons to allow you to skip to the next song or skip to the next folder of music on your flash drive. It comes with instructions on how to get started with the unit but it was pretty easy setting everything up and using it. Overall, I am very glad I bought this.

Well, all i can say is....if you have one of these and it actually works the way it's supposed to....count yourself lucky! I got mine today and it will not read ANY of my cd's! I've tried 20 different cd's, store-bought and cd's i've burned myself, and this unit will not read ANY of them! The record player and tape player both work ok. The auxilary option will play your ipods but the play-back volume is quite low, even at the highest settings (this also goes for the phonograph playback). My advice? Stay away.....there's about a 50% chance you will get a defective unit.

Transcend 4 GB Class 6 microSDHC Flash Memory Card TS4GUSDHC6

Transcend 4 GB Class 6 microSDHC Flash Memory Card TS4GUSDHC6I specifically ordered this memory card for my Blackberry Curve 8330 with two goals in mind.

1: Store videos and music on my phone

2: Expanded memory for applications and documents

On both counts I have not been let down! This card is wicked fast when it comes to file transfers via the Blackberry software. I had expected, indeed planned, for a bit of a "hit" when using the RIM software to expedite file transfers (play lists, music, and videos) but if there is one I am not seeing it.

The included adapter is a handy add on bonus as I do have quite a few microSD cards lying around and can now use those for other devices that accept SD cards.

Oh, and it IS a Class 6 card.

I purchased this 8GB Class 6, upgrading from an 8GB Class 4, because I needed the faster read/write speeds on my cell phone.

After installing it, I immediately noticed a faster response in the data transfer speeds. My ringtones, music, and pictures loaded faster, even when receiving a call.

I recommend upgrading to the Class 6 to anyone wanting/needing fast transfer rates.

The data transfer rates of SD Cards are:

(Read Speed of a Standard CD-ROM = 150 kb/s)

Class 2 (Equivalent to ~13x the read speed of a Standard CD-ROM) 2 MB/s

Class 4 (Equivalent to ~26x the read speed of a Standard CD-ROM) 4 MB/s

Class 6 (Equivalent to ~40x the read speed of a Standard CD-ROM) 6 MB/s

So, as you can see, the Class 6 is approximately 50% faster than a Class 4.

I own 6 micro SDHC cards which I use to store a variety of images and files for access on a number of devices. I have 4 Transcend Micro SDHC 16gb cards which are clearly the fastest (data transfer, class 6) and most reliable cards that I have used.

My overall view of the Transcend MicroSD card is that the product itself is good; however, the adapter that comes with it is not HC compatible. I have contacted Transcend directly about this shortfall and they are replacing the adapters as we speak. I do not blame the vendor that sold the card as the package was sealed and it was not a pirated version of the product. There are many different products available through the Amazon website that are also not HC compatible but sold with high capacity markings. If I were to purchase more cards from Amazon.com I would ensure the vendor tested the functionality with HC cards before I ordered them or allowed them to be shipped to me. I suggest dealing direct wth the manufacturer for these VERY FAST MicroSD Cards as they are now available directly on their website.

I can confirm that this is a class 6 8gb card. I bought for $16.99 and couldn't be happier. It's working perfectly with my T-Mobile G1. I highly recommend this product.

Esky Car Black Box Kit - Includes H.264 Car DVR Camera Recorder with 2.5' Rotatable Screen and HDMI Out ,Night vision

  • High-definition video recording (H.264 + 1080P)
  • Video and audio transmission via HDMI interface
  • 4 x digital zoom in/out function

Bought two of these cameras, one for each car. One works great the other was a lemon from the start. Returned it once for a replacement. Continued problems with the replacement It is now past the 6 months warranty so customer service will do nothing about it. If you need help customer service they will send you suggestions on a fix, as I do not believe even they know how to fix them. I would suggest spending a few more bucks and look for a warranty that means something. Pass this camera up and look for a more quality product. I will be doing just that for my next one.

Sony ICD-SX25 Digital Voice Recorder

Sony ICD-SX25 Digital Voice RecorderI'm perplexed that J Liu's excellent review didn't get a 100% "helpful" rating from readers. I do not have as much experience with digital recorders to add much to that review, so I'll just add a few observations:

1. Don't buy used or "new" without the software (e.g., ebay offers lots of digital recorders without software). The reason is because the manufacturers don't offer the software on their web sites, only updates to the original software.

2. Stereo Long Play seems great to me, I couldn't tell any difference compared to Stereo. I tested mic pickup by laying the mic on a table and walking about 15 feet away into another room. All modes performed great except LP.

3. Voice Up is a useful feature for hearing things that otherwise would be unintelligible. I was able to understand the other end of a loud telephone conversation when I left the SX25 three feet away from the phone.

4. If you intend to use this to immediately listen to what you've recorded (e.g., if you are practicing a presentation), you might be better off buying a microcassette recorder because its speaker is better and therefore more convenient.

5. Reader reviews of the ST25 complain about the "sideways" controls. I don't see the problem. Pushing towards you just selects one of three folders, A, B, or C. Pushing away from you goes into the menu. All menu items operate similarly, and all are only one level down. Sure, you need to read the manual thoroughly, but I couldn't really think of a better setup. It's not I-Drive (BMW's much maligned multi-level controller).

6. The SX25 is rated well for the Voice Recognition software "Dragon Naturally Speaking 8". (You need Preferred or Professional version, and not Standard like I bought.)

Overall, I like it a lot. Amazing how clear things sound with headphones/earbuds. Easy to use for simple recording and listening, nice small size.

I use this recorder exclusively for class lectures and could not be happier. Most important feature I was looking for was clarity in a large room. I was very impressed with the sound quality. The recorder does not have to be anywhere near the professor to pick up their voice perfectly! I bought one of the cheaper sony recorders first, it was about $50, and returned it because the sound quality was terrible. For me this one is worth the money because I am recording from a distance. It's also very compact and easy to use. Definitely recommend it for students!

Buy Sony ICD-SX25 Digital Voice Recorder Now

I purchased this voice recorder to record college lectures and then transcribe them to text. The SX25 has a pretty good amount of recording time for the low quality setting at around 12 hours. A few of the features include: VOR-a thing where the recorder supposedly starts recording when it picks up sound and stops when it stops reading sound (I could hardly ever get it to work), the ability to cut and divide recordings, four different quality settings, and a very informative LCD screen. The SX25 also is supported for Dragon Naturally speaking preferred. Included in the box is a set of earphones, a USB cable, a program to save recordings and a carrying bag.

One would suppose that for over one hundred dollars you could get decent voice recording. In my experience the actual recording is the worst part of this product and ironically its primary function. After taking it to one class lecture at the second highest quality level sitting ten feet from the instructor, I brought it home and with the volume all the way up I could not make out anything intelligible. Moreover, I could not use it to transcribe to text. I was lead to believe by the general description of the product that it could record from a considerable distance. Most likely this would be better used for just personal voice records for notes, not as a long distance recorder, because the microphone is extremely weak.

Read Best Reviews of Sony ICD-SX25 Digital Voice Recorder Here

The Sony ICD-SX25VTP -($199.99 at Amazon.com and as low as $165.00 with other online merchants listed through Amazon.com) is light and compact digital voice recorder. After careful research, I decided to settle on this model because it comes with the Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred Voice-To-Print Software pre-packaged for a mere $20 more than the Sony ICD-SX25 $149.99. The software purchased separately is priced at $169 on Amazon.com.

Otherwise the ICD-SX25VTP and ICD-SX25 are EXACTLY the same, it's just that one comes bundled with the VTP (Voice to Print) software.

In addition, there are different types of Dragon Naturally Speaking software.

They are the following:

Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 Standard $83.99 listed on Amazon.com (not compatible with the Sony ICD-SX25 Digital Voice Recorder)

Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 Preferred $169 (Compatible)

Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 Professional $679.99

Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 Medical $969.99

Therefore, it would be less expensive to purchase the SX25VTP for an additional $20 to $40 for the software, than to purchase them for the total price of $318.99 when purchased separately.

It is best to read the manual thoroughly before use. I say this because it took me at least three (3) hours to figure out how to "train" my voice for the voice recognition to enable the transcribing. The use of the transcription services can only be used in the ST setting. You must speak slowly for the software to transcribe the words accurately. If you are giving dictation, you must input certain commands to format the document, unless you don't mind doing a significant amount of editing after the document as been transcribed.

The volume playback is low, but it comes with ear phones and that has a better result. However, after reading the manual for both the recorder and the software and I've used it a couple of times, I am please with this purchase.

*Same review for the Sony ICD-SX25VTP*

Want Sony ICD-SX25 Digital Voice Recorder Discount?

It works quite well. The one thing that needs improvement is the playback volume, which without earphones is a little weak. The device is slim, so I'm not sure if that volume increase can be done without compromising the size. I do like the feature of having three folders (A, B, and C) on the device for saving sound files (99 in each). I use one folder for MP3 music (converted to *.msv files) and the stereo sound is surprisingly good. The five way rocker switch makes navigation easy. At my work a committee is looking into purchasing voice recorders for employees who need to do in-field legal interviews; this model so far is the winner. I wonder what the discount is if you buy 100 units. :-)

eForCity Digital Optical Audio TosLink to Mini TosLink Cable M/M, 12 FT / 3.7 M, Black

eForCity Digital Optical Audio TosLink to Mini TosLink Cable M/M, 12 FT / 3.7 M, BlackNot many people know that their Macbooks (and other Mac laptops) have a hidden optical (digital audio) output jack buried deep in their laptop's headphone jack. I read about it recently, so bought this cable -from "eforcity" (vendor) who put it in the mail the same day -just to see if it was true. I have a Pioneer VSX-D509 home theater amplifier (bought it in 2003 or so) which had one open Optical input on the back (the little 1/4" square port that has a "door" that pushes out of the way).

I connected to the amp, set the Optical 2 input on the amp to CD-R, then plugged in the 3.5mm optical end of this cable to my Macbook Pro. Now my little laptop output 5.1-channels (and more) when watching movies, including downloadable ones, like on Netflix.

In fact, my wife and I missed a recent episode of "Lost" and tuned into , found it, and watched it to multi-channel surround.

iTunes has never sounded so good, too. There is absolutely NO HUM like you can sometimes get from "component jacks" and 3.5mm stereo plugs (red and white RCA jacks).

Such an improvement.

My Mac G5 tower has standard TOSLINK in and out on the back, so I bought those the next day to complete my system. I am quite pleased.

I titled this review specially because you know how people get confused so easily with these Toslink and Mini-Toslink cables? Well I didn't want there to be any discrepancy with regard to exactly WHAT these cables are all about: These are for PC sound cards in your computer, and certain types of stereo receivers use them also (not often, but sometimes this is the case), and they are NOT two Toslink adapters...this is the Mini-Toslink (pencil-thin non-shielded plug in) to Toslink (regular 1/2-oval to square connector that *snaps into place*) cable, so do NOT be confused about what you are getting here.

If you have a PC sound card to connect to something else, chances are about 100% that the PC sound card will accept ONLY one of these cables, and not a Toslink cable connector...that's the wrong type, only Macs use regular Toslink connectors! End of discussion! My PowerMac G5 server and my Mac Pro power-machines both use the standard Toslink connector for sound output, but NOT PC's! PC's have real sound cards, and those will take this Mini-Toslink cable adapter every time!! Do NOT try and fit a regular Toslink cable to a Xonar Essence ST or STX Sound card, or an X-Fi Titanium HD Audio Sound Card either...it won't work: this setup here is the one you want, so punch the button, and order it because this setup is exactly what you need!

Now that is out of the way I can talk about EforCity and their shipping and quality practices, and I can report that they get 5-Stars all across the board for every part of the process of getting these cables handled. I ordered my cable on a Saturday evening, and had the cable IN MY HANDS by Thursday afternoon following, and BAM! Installed the cable from PC sound card to my Logitech Z-5500 Dolby 5.1 THX Surround Sound Speaker System, saw the red glow of the sound port happily before connecting the setup, and BAM again! Home Run Out Of The Park!

The shipping in California is 1st Class US Mail for regular non-expedited shipping, and that is all you need with this company, as they ship the cables in plain brown wrapper padded US Mail envelopes, and have Delivery Confirmation on the parcels too, so you're protected and so are they and the shipment... so all around a good, adequate FREE SHIPPING practice by EforCity Cable company! Can't beat FREE right? RIGHT!

The cable itself is nothing fancy, no extra red and blue colored wrappers and candy-cane cable snappers here, this is a plain black cable with a metal-reinforced end piece which is more than adequate for carrying digital sound from the sound card to the speakers, receiver, whatever port you are setting it up for, just a good quality cable that does the job adequately for a very, very cheap price! You cannot beat their price per cable with free shipping can you? Didn't think so! I know I am sure happy with the price, the shipping, and the quality of the cable, so what more can you say: SUCCESS IS GRAND!

The cable itself is nice and FLEXIBLE also, it's not a rigid cable by any means, and will snake around your computer and tight corners with ease, unlike some hard-pressed cables. This setup is nice treat for computer sound cards and speaker systems and receivers, trust me it works great! Again it's plain black rubber with a nice ABS plastic connector with a metal tip on the cable for clarity of sound, and it has a cable cover to boot for when you're not using the end so you can shield it adequately---nice construction!

It turns out that EforCity ships out of Southern California for Southern California shipments, possibly drop-shipped for all I know, but the grand effect is that shipments get sent US Mail 1st Class, Delivery Confirmation in the house, and they get to the customer QUICKLY!

So one more time, this is the Mini-Toslink to Toslink connector cable that works for PC Sound Cards and the like, it's NOT Toslink to Toslink! Get yours today for your Creative and Asus sound cards, and buy from EforCity because They ROCK! I give them 5 Stars across the board for an xlnt cable, great and fast shipping, and pricing that just can't be beat at less than $10 per cable for the 12-foot size!

This was the best $$'s I ever spent on a computer part/purchase for my PC No.1, and its new Asus Xonar Essence ST PCI Sound Card, and it connects things up with my Logitech Z-5500 speakers perfectly fine...no complaints, and a solid endorsement from Wavey Davey for EforCity Cables! Get yours today!!

Buy eForCity Digital Optical Audio TosLink to Mini TosLink Cable M/M, 12 FT / 3.7 M, Black Now

For $4, I could not beat having a digital TOSlink connection between my Mac Mini and my audio receiver. Having finally got around to setting up my secondary digital entertainment hub, the results are awesome!!

As long as your Mac has the digital/analog output, and your receiver has a TOSlink digital input, you can take full advantage of the multi channel surround sound. My Mac mini Onkyo receiver combination now lets me enjoy movies and music with a little more cleaner and sharper sound reproduction. And most important: NO HUM.

For the audio purists, I can tell you that nothing truly beats an analog connection to a dedication 2 channel amplifier. But for those looking to take advantage of their current audio components, this $4 investment simply cannot be beat!!

I was concerned this might be a flimsy, low-quality item because of the low price, but it's as well-made as I had hoped it would be. Nothing sacrificed for the savings as far as I can tell. The digital signal sounds SO much better than my old analog cable coming out the back of my iMac. Highly recommended for people wanting high-quality sound from their computer.

Riptunes 4GB MP3 Player - Red

  • Riptunes 4GB MP3 Player - Red

I use 2 of these RIPTUNES 4GB players with one for working out, walks, bed, etc.. and the other for studying. I also use a CREATIVE 8 GB for larger volume music files.

These RIPTUNES devices are small and handy for casual use. They do crash on me from time to time and I had to reset them quite often when I first got them but I've learned their capabilities and gear their use to what they do best and I haven't lost any files yet.

So far, they've been great for rotating a small library of MP3 tunes every month or so and they work great for several audio lecture series I use them for. In fact I'm leaning toward keeping the lecture series on them (long term) and picking up a few more for new lectures.

It's not an IPAD, tablet or large volume storage disc but it works great for a $30 4GB MP3 player. You can forget using it as an e-reader. Sure, the utility works fine but how many words can you fit on a 1.25" screen.

Buy Riptunes 4GB MP3 Player - Red Now

I bought two of these MP3 for my twin boys for Christmas and neither one will work correctly. As long as I have if plugged into the computer it operates. As soon as I remove the players from the power cords it goes blank and wont come on. I tried to get a refund on my money but the store I bought it from wont refund my money. I HIGHLY recommend you do not buy this product. You will be disappointed.

Caught the orange screen of death today, and after some searching on the net, it turns out this is a common problem (the black background turns green, blues turn orange, etc.)And if you unplug it, then plug it back in, the colors return to normal (hope that doesn't happen very often!).

This product is extremely slow, it often takes 15-45 seconds to eject a disc or just open the tray. When turned on it takes many seconds before being usable. I am very tired of waiting for this unit to function.

Part of the reason for any load delay may be the unit's one redeeming feature. It saves your spot on any disc you have played recently, loading the same location when restarted. This feature is nice but each disc will have to be searched for that spot on start up. It is likely the cause of much of the delay.

Recently I tried a DVD in it that would not read, but a cheap portable player would. The long load and eject times in addition to read failures cause me to give this a poor rating.

Olympus VN-240 PC Digital PC Link Voice Recorder

Olympus VN-240 PC Digital PC Link Voice RecorderThis is my first digital recorder which I purchased for recording class lectures. This device is very simple to use and includes the software and connectors required to transfer the recordings onto your computer. My only gripe about this product is that it only has 4 hours of recording time on the low quality setting. Recording quality is satisfactory however I wouldn't recommend it for lecture recordings if the professor is not wearing a microphone unless you sit in the front of the class. Overall I am satisfied with this product.

I bought this recorder a couple of months ago, hoping to record some classes and lectures that are too good to hear just once. It's amazing that the classes sound even better on my PC than when I'm there! I absolutely loved it!

I usually place my recorder 5 to 10 feet from the professor, and the sound is perfect even when he walks around and goes further than that. It does not catch much noise from my colleagues, chatting in class but, surprisingly, records efficiently every question or comment!

I could not be more pleased with the quality of the sound, but now that I've used and loved it so much, I wish I had spent twice the money and gotten the Olympus recorder with twice the memory (DM-10)!

My first digital voice recorder, and I couldn't be happier so far. Within minutes, I was recordering and saving those recordings to my laptop. The software installed without any problems, and the USB download, while not exceptionally fast, is very convenient. I am satisfied with the voice quality. My first meeting using this recorder, there was major construction going on right outside the office. That noise had very little effect on the recording. I agree with wanting longer recording time, but for the price, you can't beat this recorder.

NAXA Electronics NPB-251BU Portable CD Player with AM/FM Stereo RadioMy three year old grandchild and I like to listen to Raffi songs, and had to borrow his parents Bose CD player....soooo, I bought him this, so I didn't have to worry about that expensive unit. It works great! Nice sound and he can use it well....better than I expected!! P.S. at the time it was $27

We bought this boombox for our newborn son to play his music to him. From the first time we used it, we noticed that when turned all the way up or even half way up, the sound cuts in and out. We constanlty have to jiggle the cord or move the cd player around to volume to work properly. When the sound is working properly though, I do have to say that it is a pretty good little boombox with great sound.

I bought this machine on Dec 12th, 2012 for my 3-year-old son to paly story CD borrowed from the library. I received it between Dec 18 and 21, 2012. I used it only for 3 or 4 times with 10 minutes each time. After that, I didn't use it for a long time because I didn't get time to borrow more CDs from the library. I tried to play a music CD for my son tonight before he went to sleep, but I found this machine doesn't work any more. When I pressed the "Play" button, it didn't work. I felt so strange and unbelievable because it's a brand new machine so I originally thought it might be my CD's problem. I changed to another CD but the same problem occurred. I repeated to turn off the machine and turn it on again in order to fix the problem, but it still didn't work. I tried to press other buttons to make it work, but it's totally malfunctioned! I can't believe a simple CD player at $44.99 plus the shipping charge only worked for 3 or 4 times and has become defective! I feel so disappointed about its bad quality! I have sent an email to the seller to see if they'll return this defective item for me with full refund. I'll write more reviews when I get an answer from the seller.

On 3/22/13, just update my review for this item. I've never received any response from this manufacture regarding the defective machine. I'm feeling its after-sales service is very poor at this point. Very disappointed for both the quality of the product and the service of this company.

This little number sits right in the corner on the bedstead and works just fine for books on tape or relaxation tapes. One reviewer said it is LOUD volume-wise, so keep that in mind when you use it the first time...a little spin on the dial goes a long way. I like the fact that it's easy to use and not too big. Just right for the price. Thanks, NAXA!

Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I don't know how durable it will be. Just bought it 3 months ago for my 4 yr old neice. I wanted something that would be easy for her to operate herself and this has been great. My sister says she uses it all the time and loves it. She listens to her books on CD mostly. The simple technology and big front facing buttons make it great for little hands. A great choice for kids!

Very nice touchscreen interface easy to use with a nice lock feature, that still lets you turn the volume up and down. No bloatware software to install, oh that's right, no software worked with Windows 7 right out of the box. Has played every file I have dragged on to it. And the flac format sounds incredible. I like everything about this mp3 player and this is about the eighth mp3 player I have owned. But the first one I have really liked!

This product has some fun features that are for those who like to play around with the mp3, such as Beat DJ or a gingerbread man that when tapped cracks. But, other than the fun little gimmics, there is a lot of problems to be aware of. The mp3 does not always support the video formats that are said to be supported. At multiple times it froze when changing the volume. And most recently after an upload onto the mp3, it froze at the start up screen and resetting the mp3 did not help. After searching about the issue online, I found other people who were experiencing the same problem. My last Samsung mp3 lasted 2 years, I was hoping this one would be similar, but it did not even last 6 Months. This product was a disappointment.

I love it, easy drag and drop, nice screen, well built, easy to use. It is looks amzing and sounds amazing but the only bad thing is it took 2 weeks to ship.

(update 10-9-11)

pros:

-Good battery life (10 hours of music)

-Nice design

-Good iterface thats customizable

-Good quality sound

-You can change the sound with DNSE

cons:

-Games are bad

-Freezes from time to time

-Small screen

-Touch screen is ok

At first the battery was only 5 hours, after a few charges it was 10-15. I don't like how the scrolling for bands or songs is only horizontal. It was a $100 when I got it and it was worth it.

I bought this MP3 player specifically for a cross-country road trip. I was told by a Samsung rep that it gives 25 hours of audio listening. Mine got 6 at most. On two different occasions, after a full charge, it lost 10% of it's battery and it wasn't even turned on. I sent it back to Samsung and they refused to replace it. They claim that they played it "for several hours" and it was fine. Don't buy a Samsung product and expect them to stand behind it!!!

I chose this player because it was wi-fi capable. Once it was delivered I was concerned about the packing or lack of. This unit was shipped in its original box with a brown paper wrapping nothing else. I have photos of the damages the package went through getting here. I feel maybe this could have been placed in a larger box with more packing around it for protection. One puncture went completly through box putting a small scratch in side of unit. After removing it from its box i hooked it up and it seems to be working fine. All things considered I am happy with purchase.

This device not only plays Blu-Ray DVDs but it also uses Wi-Fi to bring the Internet to your television set. It has built in links to not only well known Internet media sources (such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube) but more services than I have ever heard of before. I don't know how many, I got tired of scrolling down the list. Once I got it set up, watching shows on Netflix, Hulu, etc., is easy. And it's great to be able to watch these shows on a large TV, rather than a laptop. And that allows for group watching as well.

I would have given this device five stars, except I have two complaints.

the documentation included was insufficient to get it set up completely. I had to go online to get the additional information I needed. If you get one of these devices, have a tablet or laptop, etc., nearby when you set it up, you will need it. Not just for the extra info, but you also need to go to each media site you subscribe to (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and register the device in order for it to connect to that particular service.

I do not think it's possible to use a keyboard with this device. Trying to arrow around the on-screen key-pad with the remote is very tedious. I did a bit of research, hoping to find a wireless keyboard of some type could be connected to the device, but I haven't found that to be the case yet. It does have software to link an Android tablet to it for input, but I do not own a tablet running Android at this time.

I like this player. It does what is supposed to and that is play 3D movies but beyond that the wifi is nice. I have 3 standard blue ray players and they all require an ethernet cable. So either buy an AP or do without using it to watch netflix, etc. Having wifi built in stream netflix, amazon and some others. I took my Roku to the bedroom bonus :)

New R300 2.7" 140° Dual Lens Dash Board Camera Car HD DVR Black Box Video Recorder + GPS Logger

New R300 2.7' 140° Dual Lens Dash Board Camera Car HD DVR Black Box Video Recorder + GPS Logger
  • Video and Audio recording
  • 2.7 "TFT LCD Panel or TV Out, TV Out support NTSC & PAL
  • Dual Lens Camera,1280 x 480 30FPS (2CH Record), 640 x 480 30FPS (1CH Record)
  • Support Memory Card :SDHC Class 64GB ~ 32GB, proprietary file format
  • GPS module support ,G Sensor Support

The camera's resolution of 1280x480 pixels is because there are two cameras and the picture shows two videos of 640x480 side-by-side, therefore the frame size is 1280x480. The camera listed here says it is an HD DVR and this is not true. Amazon should not let people believe that they will have an HD picture just because assuming 1280x480 is an HD standard. It is not and never will be high definition resolution, Wikipedia will help you to make it clear. Full HD is 1920×1080, and 720p HD is 1280x720.

Overall picture is blurry and round "pillow-like", nothing is possible to read, not even a license plate of a car standing right in front! Come on people, it's 2012 already, 0.3mp VGA cameras are out of market like 10 years ago. Camera is worthless in any insurance claim as well, if anything happens they require HD quality. So unless you want just to view the roads you drove and what was happening in car at that time, which maybe helps to taxicab drivers, otherwise it's loss of money, 1 star and returned immediately.

Buy New R300 2.7" 140° Dual Lens Dash Board Camera Car HD DVR Black Box Video Recorder + GPS Logger Now

For what it is, this is a great little DVR. I got mine, put in a MicroSD card, plugged in two wires, and it just worked. Build quality is much better than I expected, it feels like it's put together solidly. For the price that I paid, I was expecting loose fitting, thin plastic shell that creaked and flexed when holding it, this does not do that.

Video quality isn't bad, although it is low resolution. This is clearly stated on the product page in multiple places, so I'm not sure why other reviewers seem surprised by this. Any camera with as wide angle of a lens as this has will have difficulty making out license plates, regardless of the resolution. If you're wanting a camera to read license plates with, get something with a narrower field of view and a high resolution sensor. If you want something that clearly shows what's going on in and around your car, get this one.

Also, this isn't mentioned in the review page, but this unit does show your speed on it. It's only shown in KPH though, there are no options to change it to MPH.

This isn't related to the product review, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Mine was shipped VERY fast. It was well packaged, and arrived in excellent condition. I noticed a lot of people mentioning that they received their cameras poorly packaged and beat up. The seller that I bought mine from was EXCELLENT. It shipped from California, not over seas. The package arrived in good enough shape to be in a retail display.

Pros:

It works well, for what it's designed to do

Exterior camera is wide angle enough to show both sides of the hood, and what's beyond it

Interior camera is wide angle enough to show the entire inside of my pickup, and both side windows

Can easily play back the video (In very low resolution) on the device, without needing to hook it to a computer

Seems to be built well

Cons:

Poorly translated manual, although the device is simple enough to use that this shouldn't be a problem. All menus on the device appear to be translated well.

Requires proprietary software to view playback on a PC.

Mount is relatively large. I've got a pickup with a fairly large windshield, the camera and mount seems to take up a lot of it. This could probably be helped with an aftermarket mount, since the camera uses a standard thread for the mount.

There's a flashing icon on the display, I'm not sure what it means. The manual says nothing about it. It may be because I'm currently using a slower MicroSD card than they recommend.

It would be nice if the wiring harness for the GPS & power were smaller

Overall, I'm very happy with this unit, and would certainly recommend it.

Their idea of High Definition and mine are a little different. All and all, it's a fairly nice Dash Cam. If you're looking for true High Definition though, it's not going to happen with this one. Good Luck!

This camera is a great buy for the money! I was looking for something simple and would cover me if pulled over by the police or in an accident. I also use this camera on the track and it works great. For the money this is an EXCELLENT value.

Pros

* Dual lenses, so you can record both inside and out, but you also have the option to record only out or only inside.

* Suction cup for mounting and it holds up on a 1 G turn!

* Holds up to a 32 Micro SD (sold separately)

* Video downloads super easy

* Camera can be flipped depending on your windshield (my corvette is very steep)

Cons

* GPS isn't built in, so if you want to use that option you will need to plug it in. (I never use it)

* Not the best for night time driving, but I do mostly day time driving.

* Instructions are useless, but I figured everything out pretty quick.

* Downloads are video only. If you have the GPS plugged in you can't download that information (Playback only)

My camera has captured a few different accidents in front of me and the victims loved that I caught everything on this for their insurance companies.

Some of the people are complaining that the camera isn't true HD or it doesn't have built in night vision or the instructions are hard to understand... What do you expect from a dash cam under $60?

I've had this product for many months now and I really enjoy having it, it definitely was worth the money. During the day it is great, however at night, unless you are on a light highway, it is useless. But I enjoy the GPS feature, and the gravity sensor. It has 24hr time which I also like, It isn't extremely intuitive, but you only set it up once and rarely download video onto your computer, so it's not a big deal. It said it worked with a mac, however I tried many time and eventually just gave in and looked at the video on my windows 8 laptop.

TASCAM VR-10 Portable Digital Recorder

TASCAM VR-10 Portable Digital Recorder
  • Two omnidirectional microphones
  • MP3 or WAV recording, up to 48kHz/24-bit
  • Built-in speaker
  • Slow down playback without changing the pitch for transcription
  • Noise reduction, voice enhance, low cut and high cut effects

I too purchased this one week ago and two things: it had only 1 glowing review and 2, the price I paid was $33 but now showing for $70.

Pros:

The recording quality is very good

The price/features ratio was very good at $33 but not so sure at $70

Cons:

Feels incredibly cheap. Plastic is that thin hard stuff. It has no substantial heft. The battery door will slip off if you touch it.

Battery life unacceptable.

The battery lasted 1 1/2 lectures and I missed the second half. Going straight back to Amazon.

I have TASCAM DR-05BL but this VR-10 is smaller and thinner than TASCAM's. Sound quality is nice. Built in stereo microphones are sensitive. You may need external stereo microphones when you walk while you have this.

Read Best Reviews of TASCAM VR-10 Portable Digital Recorder Here

I bought this from Amazon at a very favorable price it can record LPCM at up to 24bit 48kHz which is better than CD quality (16bit 44.1kHz).

First live music recording was very good in parts, but I also got horrible distortion this was because the AGC/ALC (auto record level control) could not handle the loud volumes even when set to low sensitivity.

So learned to use manual level control and most of the time the record levels were down in 0-3 right at the bottom distortion problem solved.

The first one I got had problems of freezing/locking up if buttons were pressed during recording. This may not seem much of a problem but the VR-10 is supposed to be able to manually create a new file during recording at any time by pressing the REC key during recording create a new file and continue recording. This is very useful for recording each song to a separate file without stopping and restarting the recording. BUT doing these eventually will make the recorder freeze up and the only recourse is to pull out the battery.

[NOTE: I said earlier that adjusting the Rec Level would freeze the VR-10, this does NOT appear to be so, I have done further tests and the recorder seems to be OK adjusting the levels using the |>| keys during recording the VR-10 did not lock-up during my tests]

Amazon were very good about the return and replacement of the recorder.

However the replacement I got had a much older version of the firmware, and still had the same freezing problem.

Teac USA (= Tascam) website lists the VR-10 as discontinued and did NOT have any supporting downloads. Contacting customer service gets only an auto e-mail acknowledgment with ref code (3PEC0QA2) but NO actual response, or help so could not get latest firmware.

Teac EU has downloads for manuals, but no firmware.

Teac.co.jp the Japanese site did have the firmware (), but there were two versions and release notes in Japanese only so I could not figure out which firmware to use, and more to the point how to do the firmware update. Flashing firmware updates is too critical to be done by guesswork, as it can render the recorder totally inoperable.

I wrote Teac.co.jp (in English) to ask about the firmware update they did respond within 24 hours and the e-mail parts in English did point out which firmware to use (vr-10-40_103.zip, and NOT version with the "e" suffix that is not for "English", but for a different model in Japan, that actually has the "e" designation) but no instructions, or location of release Notes and instructions in English.

However I figured out 3 current Tascam models (DR-03, PR-10, DR-08) were based on the Teac VR-10/VR-20 series, and the Tascam DR-08 had a firmware update, and pdf release notes/instructions.

No intention of using DR-08 firmware but DR-08 release notes/instructions gave the changes/fixes and instructions on how to do the update I cross-checked with the actual Japanese version of the pdf VR-10 release notes/instructions by manually copying each paragraph and running the Japanese characters through google translate to know with pretty good confidence that the notes/instruction were basically the same.

So I was able to do the firmware update successfully.

BUT guess what?

the recorder even on the latest firmware, that may have addressed this issue -

still Freezes eventually, if the Rec button is pressed during recording.

Still, because of the very good sound quality (matches the Tascam DR-07MkII at 24bit 48k) and very small and handy form factor I have decided to keep it, despite the fatal flaw as I will just record straight through, and do the file splitting post inconvenient but I can just about live with it to gain this very neat small recorder, at a great price, that records very good sound quality.

EDIT to ADD -

I have done battery life tests using an 8GB microSDHC card for enough room and recording at 24bit 48kHz I got about 5hrours 20mins average from fully charged eneloop AAA so to me the battery life is adequate/acceptable.

Want TASCAM VR-10 Portable Digital Recorder Discount?

It's TEAC and not TASCAM specifically but no matter. It records in PCM and shows as .WMV on the computer. This is just fine. .WMV is a package of PCM. It does MP3 too. I use it with a lapel mic from Radio Shack and it's great. I wish when using a audio-in lapel that it would have the option to split the mono into stereo. Instead, you just get a L or R channel when loaded into an audio editing or video editing program. Then the single track needs to be "panned" to be "stereo". An extra step but not a big deal. Great unit. I'm super happy. A much better deal than the Zoom H2, etc.

Good for line input recording good A/D converter. Use for backup recorder on classical orchestra concerts, using line in (48K, 16bit). I wouldn't use mics on any recorder, unless for voice, about 12-24" away.

Screen is hard to read. Wish it had larger battery life perhaps I will use lithiums, if I don't use USB power. Might need a windscreen if I use for interviews.

I usually transfer audio files from the micro SD card separately from another card input device.
