Waterproof ACQUA WP6800 ( Black ) UnderWater Digital Camera Video recorder 18MP Max.

Waterproof ACQUA WP6800 UnderWater Digital Camera Video recorder 18MP Max.When I first got the camera I was thinking that it was a little flimsy. However, when I took it snorkeling and got some great pics of my boys swimming with the turtles, I was very impressed! It takes very clear photos and is small and lightweight! I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting an underwater camera for a trip that is inexpensive!

The camera seemed more substantial than I expected...but I could NOT get the compartment open for the battery/memory stick. I think the latch was defective but unusable so returned it immediately.

These cables work great and shipping was prompt. I used this cable to connect audio from my tv to a sound bar. Cable was much thinner than I expected, but this has not affected performance at all. I am a little worried that if I'm not careful I could kink or damage the cable. But for the price, these cables can't be beat! And you get two for way less than the price of one at a walk-in store.

There was a mistake on this order, but it was taken car of right away. I was very happy with that and the product. The cables are a bit thin, but they work with no issues at all. I would buy from this again.

Philips DVP3980/F7 DVD Player with 1080P HDMI Upconversion

Philips DVP3980/F7 DVD Player with 1080P HDMI Upconversion
  • Picture/Display
  • D/A converter
  • 12 bits- 108 MHz
  • Progressive scan; Video upscaling (720p- 1080i/p)
  • Dolby Digital sound system

Bought this about 5 months ago, and has worked wellIt does seem to do a good job upconverting to a 1080p plasma display. Caught the orange screen of death today, and after some searching on the net, it turns out this is a common problem (the black background turns green, blues turn orange, etc.)And if you unplug it, then plug it back in, the colors return to normal (hope that doesn't happen very often!).

Buy Philips DVP3980/F7 DVD Player with 1080P HDMI Upconversion Now

This product is extremely slow, it often takes 15-45 seconds to eject a disc or just open the tray. When turned on it takes many seconds before being usable. I am very tired of waiting for this unit to function.

Part of the reason for any load delay may be the unit's one redeeming feature. It saves your spot on any disc you have played recently, loading the same location when restarted. This feature is nice but each disc will have to be searched for that spot on start up. It is likely the cause of much of the delay.

Recently I tried a DVD in it that would not read, but a cheap portable player would. The long load and eject times in addition to read failures cause me to give this a poor rating.

Emerson GQ756 CDG Karaoke Player

Emerson GQ756 CDG Karaoke Player
  • Mix and Record Music and Voice
  • 20W Speaker
  • Includes 100 MP3G Songs on Disc
  • Remote Control
  • Digital Echo & Digital Key Control

I bought this as a gift. Needless to say I was quite embarrassed as I watched the birthday boy open it up. When he opened it up I immediately noticed that the box looked like it had been already opened and used by somebody else. In other words somebody returned it and I bought it. Once it was plugged in, none of the features worked including the USB drive which is the reason why I bought it in the first place. I kept getting errors and it even had difficulty reading the CD player. The karaoke player has a "cheap" feel to it as far as quality. I know it isn't exactly pricey but you would think it would have a more durable feel to it. I returned this the very next day! Save yourself time and money and look at different ones!!!

My kids love this Karaoke Machine, but within one week the power connection and the microphone connection shorted out and would not work consistently. My girls are not hard on things (ages 11 and 7). Emerson just didn't make a high quality product.

I was very excited to receive this machine. In fact I gave away one that was working fine in anticipation of receiving this model. It never worked. It powered on but nothing worked. Had to return. Bummer... :(

I would love to give more stars. Wished I had received a working model to really evaluate.

I'm so disappointed with this machine! I bought it for the main purpose of recording my singing and making cd's. It skips, cracks and distorts the words on so many songs. Sometimes they play and the next time they don't. My cd's are perfect with no scratches or fingerprints. I'm on my 4th machine since Christmas from Kmart and I will be returning it this week. I used an sd card and did manage to make one cd from the 4 machines and it sounds great! I had to connect the machine to a larger tv and speaker because if you don't your voice sounds distant from the music on your recording. The machine is very easy to use and if it wouldn't skip I would give it 5 stars and buy an extra one.

My experience is with the GQ755 which is no longer available. The GQ756 looks like an upgraded replacement. The 755 was purchased from Amazon less than a year ago and should still be covered by the 12 month warranty. The unit no longer reads CDs neither CDG nor plain CD. This is Emerson's response to the online request for assistance via their website:

"The GQ755 was discontinued and out of stock last year. No repair or replacement options exist for that player. kevin"

I have read that others had similar problems with that unit. It is obviously cheaper for Emerson to drop a defective model and stop honoring the warranty rather than fix or replace the defective units. Their warranty is not accurate as written. It should read: "Warranty is good for 12 months or until the model is discontinued, whichever comes first." Before you purchase an Emerson karaoke machine, make sure that the model has been out long enough to have a good history of reliable performance because the 12 month warranty may not be honored if the model has extensive problems.

Panasonic PV-D4743S Progressive-Scan DVD-VCR Combo , Silver

Panasonic PV-D4743S Progressive-Scan DVD-VCR Combo , Silver
  • DVD player/4-head hi-fi VCR combination unit
  • Progressive-scan DVD video output offers flicker-free images on high-definition or HD-ready TVs
  • Record a program and watch a DVD simultaneously
  • Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound outputs (for use with compatible AV receiver and speaker system)
  • Plays DVD-Video, VHS tape, CD, audio CD-R and CD-RW, and video DVD-R

First off, everyone should know that a DVD/VCR combo machine such as this Panasonic will not allow you to tape DVDs you rent at Blockbuster! Most DVDs have Macrovision anti-copying technology which makes it impossible to copy to a VHS tape without a hacked VCR machine. You can, however, tape your own home-movie DVDs made on a PC.

As with their stand-alone DVD and VCR products, the Panasonic is an excellent machine that's easy to use, buit to last, and offers great video quality on all kinds of TV sets. The remote control unfortunately is a bit more complicated than necessary, but that doesn't distract from the good overall design of the machine itself. The biggest advantage of an integrated DVD/VCR is that it saves space and cables. The biggest downside is if one thing breaks, you have to fix the whole unit. Luckily, Panasonic is known of its excellent quality control, and my first VCR purchased 15+ years ago, a Panasonic, still works to this very day! My family owns a few Panasonic DVD players -I have a big family -and they all work flawlessly, including my first DVD player which I bought back in 1999, at the dawn of DVD age.

Finally, I personally prefer to silver model, because it looks high-tech and looks stunning under my black Xbox. :)

I first reviewed this product and said it was great. Overall it has been a fine unit, but it seems to everheat once in a while during a long DVD session. From time to time the movie will freeze up, and then jump forward or backward, very annoying. Considering how inexpensive the unit is for VCR and DVD, it was still an OK value, but the overheating seems to be a fatal flaw.

I didn't have any problem with this product. The setup is easy. It has all relevant input/outputs (although I used it only to connect both vcr and dvd to the TV). DVD has progressive scan and DTS. You can use it as a cd payer and it also can play MP3 CDs (although I didn't try it yet). My only complaint is related to the remote. I use it as universal remote (it was easy my tv is also Panasonic) and it's very easy by mistake to do something, for example, with VCR when you really working with TV. Happened to me already quite a few times. But all in all, this shortcoming is not enough not to recommend this unit as simple and reliable vcr/dvd combo.

I wasn't planning to write a review for the Panasonic PV-VD4743K but after reading the review by "An electronics fan", I thought that it was appropriate to say something in defense of this unit.

First of all, when you write a review, it would be nice if the review were actually about the unit in question and not some other unit you bought on another occasion. "An electronics fan" buys another unit then spends his entire post in some crazed rant against Panasonic.

So what did Panasonic do, according to "An electronics fan"? Panasonic listened to his complaint several times, tried to help troubleshoot his problem, sent him to a certified tech repair center, and then when no one could figure out why his tapes were the only ones having problems, Panasonic offered to replace his unit with a re-conditioned unit (basically a new unit), and he still whines and complains about his situation. I guess some people are never happy. But either way, his review of another unit is totally inappropriate here.

Anyway, as far as THIS model is concerned, it's an excellent unit and performs perfectly for its' class. I highly recommend it.

I have a degree in Computer Science from U.C. Berkeley, so I'm not usually intimidated by technology. But this remote is just impossible. Lots of tiny, identical buttons with microscopic labels. You can only use the remote using reading glasses in a strong light. Many of the controls are non-intuitive even when you find the right buttons. The manual is strikingly unhelpful; one of the worst I've seen.

I actually bought a universal remote but this deck wouldn't respond to it at all.

(Rant: user interface design is a well-understood discipline, so why is it that user interfaces seem to be getting worse rather than better?) Anyway, I returned it and got a JVC XVC33U, which is much easier to use and has a vastly better manual.

Duracell High Speed 8 GB 300X USB 2.0 Compact Flash Card Card UDMA DU-CF30-08G-CLike many others I am not sure this is actually a 300X card despite being rated as such. Sanyo Xacti CG10 Dual Camera HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Red)

Sanyo Xacti CG10 Dual Camera HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 5x Optical ZoomI picked up one of these locally, intending to replace my MinoHD with it. This camera ended up being a disappointment to me. I really want to like it, but the reality is that the picture quality disappoints compared to the MinoHD.

PROs: LOTS of really nice features

Compact pistol-grip design that's comfortable to hold

Large, easy to view 3" LCD screen with rigid plastic screen to protect it

Uses SD/SDHC memory cards up to 32GB

Stereo audio

Standard h.264/AAC codecs compatible with Apple's iMovie '09

5X optical zoom, able to change zoom range while recording

Focus auto-adjusts while recording (not all cameras do this)

Ability to take decent 10MP still shots without having to switch modes

Has a flash for still pictures

Easy to navigate menu system with customizable shortcuts accessed by the joystick

Easy to operate joystick with positive click feedback that doesn't intrude while recording

Manual adjustments (full manual, shutter priority, aperture priority, noise reduction, auto-focus mode, exposure measure mode, etc.)

Comes with a lens cap to protect the lens

Tally light is on the top of the camera to the rear where the person holding the camera can see it and not where it's distracting to the person being recorded (VERY important when recording small children)

Easily accessible battery compartment / Battery cover is tethered by a plastic tab so it can't be easily lost

Standard tripod mount on the bottom

CONs: Picture quality requires a lot of tweaking in the manual settings to make it decent.

Low light performance is poor even for this class of camcorder

Electronic stabilization tends to soften the picture, sometimes to the point of making it appear to be out of focus

Color saturation results in a visual pleasing picture but inaccurate color reproduction

Focus and Exposure reaction seems to be fairly slow as well

Proprietary USB/AV port (I hate it when manufacturers eschew standard ports in favor or proprietary solutions. I'd rather have the camera be a little bigger to accommodate a mini-USB port as well as a mini-HDMI)

Proprietary HD Component cable NOT included

SD slot cover seems a bit flimsy

Camera cannot be used as a live camera with Macs, only with Windows PCs

Camera draws power from battery when used in card reader mode instead of drawing power from USB

Before I bought this camera, I did a lot of research on it, including viewing uploaded footage from this camera on Vimeo.com. Even though I've only had the camera two days, I've done a lot of testing with it.

Keep in mind that I'm not saying the MinoHD is the best camera out there, but it is certainly better in my experience overall. I simply compared the CG10 to the MinoHD, because the MinoHD is the incumbent.

I gave the CG10 3 stars because I love all the features that Sanyo put into it, but the picture quality is such a disappointment. One of the major features is the electronic stabilization, and I found it to reduce the picture quality more than it improved it.

I think that a camera's auto/program settings should produce a good basic picture that serves as the camera's baseline, and then any manual controls should serve to tailor that picture to your artistic needs or to make a good picture great. The Sanyo's auto/program settings produce a sub-standard picture that's soft to the extent that it looks out of focus, it suffers from serious motion blur, and in the end simply looks like widescreen standard definition. The manual settings only serve to make a bad picture look good if you can find the right settings for the shooting conditions. Having said that, I don't find this camera to be good for capturing those precious surprise moments that young children present us because you can't expect a good picture by simply pulling it out, turning it on, and starting shooting.

I think Sanyo should spend some more time with improving their stabilization, 9-pt auto-focus, and exposure measuring algorithms. Out of the box, it just doesn't perform, and the plethora of features simply cannot make up for that.

UPDATE: I still stand by my initial assessment of the VPC-CG10's picture quality, but after spending quite a bit of time playing with various settings, I believe I have found a good setup which probably should have been Sanyo's starting point in its auto/program modes.

1) Turn off the stabilization: While this helps a little bit in extreme tele situations, it actually seems to hurt picture quality otherwise, resulting in a blurry picture that appears out-of-focus. Turning off the stabilization does result in more shake and/or jitter, but the picture is quite a bit clearer. I personally do not believe that there is any decent alternative to optical image stabilization. They could drop this feature from the camera altogether, drop the price a little more, and then I would probably bump this camera up a star even.

2) Enable Single-Point AutoFocus: The 9-point AF algorithm spends a good deal of time "hunting", i.e. trying to find a focus point even when the camera is not moving. The single-point AF does a much better job of providing a clear focus. While still providing a softer picture than the MinoHD, it is a vast improvement over the 9-point AF's performance.

3) Set Exposure to Aperture-priority with f=3.5: This is the camera's widest aperture setting and will let in the most light through the lens. It will then adjust the shutter speed as necessary to provide a decently exposed picture. Fine tuning can then be adjusted via the EV adjustment, which can be assigned to one of the joystick shortcut positions.

With the above settings, I have been able to record some footage that I think is close to the MinoHD's quality, both in bright light and indoor lighting. If they either ditch the electronic stabilization altogether or replace it with optical IS, address the 9-pt AF's poor focusing algorithm, and either lock the aperture at 3.5 or put in a faster lens, Sanyo would have a very impressive camera on their hands.

One distinct advantage that the Xacti has over the MinoHD is its optics. At full wide angle, the Xacti has a much wider field of view than the MinoHD, whose fov is significantly narrower when compared even to its SD sibling, the FlipVideo Ultra.

After using this camera for a couple weeks along with the MinoHD and Sony's DSC-T900, I have to say that the Xacti VPC-CG10 is probably the best bang for the buck. I'd maybe bump up the rating by another star, but I don't think any of these pocket HD camcorders really deserve 5. And yes, I kept the Xacti and sent the MinoHD and T900 back.

I have read many many reviews about this camera and have looked at countless videos on YouTube about it. Radio Shack has a lot of reviews about it too.

Hopefully I can say something that hasn't been covered yet about this camera. First of all, there is a video cable that connects the camera directly to a HDTV. The number of the cable is Sanyo VCP-CPNT01U Component Output Cable for Sanyo WH1, TH1, CA9, CG10 Camcorders, and Amazon sells it for $. The cable is shown on page 159 of the manual.

Turn OFF the NOISE REDUCTION. To do this go to MENU 2 under the WRENCH MENU. It is actually the 5th MENU down. Go to NOISE REDUCTION, push SET, Then select OFF for both VIDEO NR and PHOTO NR. Push the MENU button to get out of there. I have never found a Noise Reduction on any camera that makes the pictures better. It usually degrades the quality of the pictures.

As others have said, put the FOCUS MODE to SPOT.

A good software program is AVS4YOU. Search for it. It is free to try and does a good job of playing and converting MPEG4 files to AVI or whatever.

Here is what I like about the camera:

You can join clips or cut out video with the camera in the playback mode. Manual PG 104-112.

You can take up to 11 pictures in sequence in the 10mb Photo mode. Pg 85 in the manual talks about that. To be direct, go to MENU, PHOTO, hit SET, Scroll down to 10mb burst mode, which is down past the .9meg picture selection. Just keep going down till you see it. It works great. Be advised it does not work with flash.

You can also put SEQUENTIAL (I don't know why they don't call it BURST) in your SHORTCUTS MENU. Page 128 in the manual. To do this go to MENU, then scroll down on the left side to MENU 2 under the WRENCH MENU. That is actually MENU 5 down from the top. Select SHORTCUTS, then SEQUENTIAL and push the SET button. Now once in the camera mode all you have to do to get Sequential is push the SET switch up. Pushing it up again puts you back in normal photo. Be advised if you have the photo set to 10mH (High) once you come out of the Sequential Mode the camera will go back to 10mS (Standard). To fix that you must go back to MENU 1, PHOTO, then select 10mH again.

You can take a photo just by pushing the PHOTO button while shooting video. Pg. 67.

It may not be a big photo file, but it works.

You can delete 1 picture, selected pictures, or all pictures in the camera. You can print from the camera. You can use the camera with the cable as a card reader. pg 145 of manual

I have found that using all the optical zoom, you can use 1/3 of the digital zoom and still get a good looking picture. I took a picture of my wife at 125 yards and could read the lettering on her shirt using the optical zoom and digital zoom at max. I am not saying this is the best thing to do, but in some situations that is the only way to get the shot. Optical and digital zoom max is 60X. The quality wasn't all that bad.

Macro goes down to .39 inches. You do have to set it to SuperMacro focus in the menu though.

To do that go to MENU, FOCUS, then select SUPERMACRO. Then push MENU to get back to the camera mode.

The ISO goes from 50 to 1600. Your best picture will be in the 50 to 100 ISO range. The higher the ISO, the more the noise in the photo/video. I noticed leaving the ISO in Auto is sometimes a mistake. I was going to take a picture and I knew the flash would go off. It was somewhat dark, but not very dark. When I looked at the screen the picture didn't look all that great. It was grainy and I could tell the Auto ISO setting was pretty high. I manually set the ISO for 100 and it totally cleared up the screen. I took the picture. It came out great. It was a little darker than I wanted, but the picture looked clear. I brightened the picture up with Photo software and the results were outstanding. While looking at the screen, you can adjust the ISO and instantly see how it is going to affect your picture. In some situations it is better to take charge of he ISO and set it manually.

In taking a photo, pushing the button half way down causes the camera to focus. Pushing it the rest of the way causes an almost instant shot with very little delay.

You can use the camera as a PC camera (like a monitor camera for your computer). Pg 150

In watching a video in playback, if you pause the video an image can be taken by pushing the PHOTO button. Pg 73.

There are a couple of things I don't like about the camera. One is the battery, but you can buy them on EBay. Search for "DB-L80 Battery". I found them for just over ten dollars for two. They are cheap and in most cases it also includes shipping. The battery that comes with the Sanyo is a 700mAh (Mili Amp Hour) battery. The two that I bought on Ebay are 980mAh. That means they are stronger and will play longer. They work great. So the battery isn't really that much of a problem after all.

The camera has a flimsy latch that covers the SDHC card. It is really flimsy. As a result, I just use the supplied cable and plug the camera into the USB slot on my computer to download files instead of taking the SDHC card out. The camera asks you if you plan on using it as a reader when you plug it in. Just click SET on that and the computer sees the drive instantly.

The last thing I don't like about the camera is the lack of a strap. I don't like holding a camera without something keeping it from hitting the ground if dropped. I found a couple on Amazon just doing a search under CAMERA STRAP. Nikon AN-CP14 Replacement Strap or Canon Metal Neck Strap 1 for All Elph Cameras, 34" Length. The cost is real cheap for either the metal necklace or the wrist strap.

Well that is it. I hope you enjoyed my review. Take care and get the camera. It is awesome for the price. I wish I could afford the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 "Dual Camera" with 8MP & 10x Optical Zoom "Full HD" 1080p Pocket Video Camera.. Wow, what a camera, but for $[WOW!]?

Oh, one last thing, the case. I found a really good cheap case for the camera. It is a Tamrac Explorer 15 (Model 5415) Compact camera case for slim-line cameras. The price is small and the shipping is free. The case is small, but the Sanyo fits in it perfectly. The front pouch is big enough for extra batteries.

At night, set the ISO to 1600, and the Sensitivity to HIGH. That is the best this camera can get in low light conditions. With the lights on in the house the camera did ok. The video was bright and looks good.

At night another accessory might be the answer. It is a video light. I have one and it works really great. Sima SL-20LX Ultra Bright Video Light (Silver). It works for about an hour before giving up the ghost. In most cases that is plenty of time. It comes with a bracket that mounts to the Sanyo. I found that mounting it catty corner (about 45 degrees) on the left side of the camera works really well. It is not in the way of the screen but right out there to provide the quality of light you need. Mounting on the right side interferes with your hand in holding the camera. Mounting it on the left side will not let the screen open fully. You have to mount it at about 45 degrees on the left side and then all works great. The light is really bright. I found that setting the ISO on 100 gives a great picture but the light only lights up clearly about 7 feet. If you need more lighting than that, set the ISO higher. Setting it at 1600 made the light really bright, and it made the whole area bright for the video. Maybe 1600 is the best place for this light. You have to experiment with it.

Addition:1/1/2010

Someone emailed me and said the video was shaking using Quicktime. It is jerky. If you have this problem there are several solutions. One is to download AVS4YOU. It is a free trail but the program costs money. Another is to download ACDSee Pro 3 but you have to pay for it too. The third solution is to download the latest version of Windows Media Player (version 11). The link is posted in the COMMENTS Section of this review. You must also have the CODEC that goes with Windows Media Player to play the MP4 extension. Do a search on Windows Media Player CODEC on Google. Select the link that says "Media Player Codec Pack, Free software downloads and software" The link is posted in the COMMENTS section of this review. That should solve your video shaking problem.

To force Windows to use Windows Media Player to play your video files, go to the directory where your video files are located. Put the curser on one of the video files and right click on it. Select PROPERTIES and click. On the screen near the top you see the OPENS WITH then the box CHANGE. Select CHANGE and scroll down till you find WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. Click on that then click OK. Now at the bottom of the page click APPLY then OK and you are set.

Buy Sanyo Xacti CG10 Dual Camera HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Red) Now

UPDATE: Watch ABC TV's "America's Funniest Videos" Sunday evening, November 14, 2010. It's their special $100,000 grand prize episode. Look for my video clip called "Raccoon Hug". My first 15 seconds of fame shot with this camera. Don't ask how I got the raccoon to do what you'll see. The clip survived numerous cuts the past several months, made the final cut and into the finale episode. I just received the phone call from Vin Di Bona Productions. This paid for the Sanyo VPC-CG10 camera!

--------------------------------

I'm going to try and answer some issues with this great camera because it makes me sick that so many issues listed here can be remedied by simply reading the manual for this GREAT CAMERA! I have had my VPC-CG10 since June and I love it. For a sub two hundred dollar camera, it is hands down the best. I tried around half dozen others and they all went back. This one is a keeper. The video quality, clarity, and color balance is on par with and better than some 1080P video cameras I've seen. I bought my red one at Radio Shack. Their website also has great reviews, tips, and advice about this camera.

sekander, did you burn it to a bluray dvd or HD dvd? Probably not, that's why you lost clarity. THE CAMERA SHOOTS IN HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO. If you're burning it to DVD, YOU ARE NOT BURNING IT IN HIGH DEFINITION. Your PC screen is HD. Your losing the HD when burning it to a DVD disc, cutting the resolution in half. Then you're making the video larger on a big screen... and you wonder why it's fuzzy?!?!?!? Just some things to think about.

The camera performs very well in low light, but not perfect, and if you can't make it do so, read the manual or study up on photography, lighting, and videos a bit before trashing the camera. I get GREAT results. Since Amazon doesn't allow web links, go to YouTube and search for my videos taken with this camera, search for user "MrJuanitoBandito". See my dim Thanksgiving 2009 restaurant video and my low light Delta 2 Rocket Launch, Sunrise.

I don't know how these people are getting fuzzy video other than operator error because this camera has the best video clarity I have ever seen in my life. Look at my other videos. The food in my Thanksgiving video is a bit fuzzy but that's because it was on the table about a foot away from the lens. I probably should have used the macro. Operator error.

The "ripply" or "tearing" effect in videos means you have a weak computer... it's NOT the camera guys and gals. It has to do with a few things, mainly the Flash Video format with web videos and/or your weak computer with videos and/or Quicktime AND the vertical refresh or synch setting in your video card's control panel... not the camera. I can suggest trying the FREE VLC Media Player program and you will see it less. If it still does it, adjust the vertical refresh or synch setting in your video card's control panel, buy a new computer and/or upgrade your video card to one with a MINIMUM of 256 megabytes of dedicated video RAM (VRAM) on board, the more the better. If your video card has that, try adding more system memory (RAM). Your PC is too weak for high definition video in MP4 format if none of these options works for you. Here's a test, watch one of my videos or any other on YouTube that's in HD. Click the HD button at the bottom right of the video, then the full screen button. If your PC locks up or the video is jittery and jumpy... if after trying the above options and they don't work, get a new PC or upgrade... yours is currently too weak. Every HD video on YouTube you should be able to watch in HD full screen, and it should be fluid like watching television, if you can't... you probably will have issues watching videos from this camera as well and maybe it's time for a new PC, processor, video card and/or upgrade. I recently had a friend that upgraded his processor from a Celeron to a Pentium 4 with HT and videos that he couldn't play before now play smooth, fluidly, and beautifully... full screen.

UPDATE ON THIS TEARING EFFECT ABOVE. Since upgrading my PC to Windows 7 Professional, which now supports MP4 video in Windows Media Player, I get the smoothest video ever with NONE of this effect above. It's gone!

Fuzzy video when you zoom? Again, take the time to read the manual and learn about the camera, read up on photography and lighting and video. The camera has both optical and digital zoom. Optical is real, mechanical zoom... the lens adjusts and moves. It is the best and usually satisfactory for my needs. I have digital zoom turned off because it's just cropping a portion of the last optical zoom... it's not REAL zoom like optical is. I read somewhere someone got good results after going about one tenth into the digital zoom then stopping, because after that it does get fuzzy... but ALL cameras with digital zoom do that... it's the nature of the zoom! Just remember, digital zoom is fuzzy... not the camera! Also, this is THE ONLY CAMERA in this price range that allows you to zoom in, to use the zoom, WHILE YOU ARE FILMING! A professional photographer once told me the best zoom was his feet.

"comparatively weak zoom"?!?! Compared to WHAT?!?!? 99.9% of cameras out there in this price range only have 3X optical zoom... IF they even have optical zoom... most cameras in this price range only offer digital zoom. This camera has 5X optical zoom as well! Complaints are being a bit petty. I think you work for a Sanyo competitor.

A "cheap" "flimsy" lens cover?!?! Again, Compared to WHAT?!?!? This is the only camera under two hundred dollars that comes with a lens cap! It's plastic. So? Aren't all lens caps? It snaps on. Don't all lens caps? Stop complaining, this camera blows away the competition in this price range. What were you expecting? A magnesium alloy lens cap with a 200 PSI vacuum seal? Come on, the camera sells for under two hundred dollars, not a thousand dollars. At least Sanyo had good sense to include a lens cap that works!

Audio? Take the towel off the camera because I can pick up people 25 feet away and on playback hear them crystal clear. Again, operator error. Watch my Ares 1-X rocket launch video on YouTube. When you hear the guy in the background "A four hundred and fifty million dollar bottle rocket...", remember this... he's behind me about two to three hundred feet away!

The camera doesn't lay flat? You knew this wasn't a conventional rectangular camera before you bought it just by looking at it! That's like buying a green car and complaining about the color AFTER you bought the car. BUY A 6" or 8" TABLETOP TRIPOD for $8-$10!

You DO NOT have to remove the tripod mount to replace the battery or download anything to the PC (I have no idea what camera he was reviewing here because it's not the VPC-CG10 I have). May I suggest you read the manual? If it is connected to a tripod... YES, you would have to remove it from the tripod to plug in the USB cable or change the battery. It takes about ten seconds to remove the camera from a tripod... no big deal. Next, just set the camera on the desk next to the computer! Are we getting a little petty about our complaints here? Or do you work for a Sanyo competitor or a life long fan of another manufacturer?

Battery life? About 45 minutes to an hour or so of continuous video shooting. I bought two more batteries on e-bay for $12 and that included shipping! Wow! It works for me!

Editing the MP4 videos made with this camera on the PC? I have used about a half dozen programs and they all gave me some sort of issue but that's the programs, not the camera. I have been using Microsoft Windows LIVE Movie Maker and it works just great for me without any issues (SEE comments of this review for more info). If I was a pro, I'd look into another program though with more options.

Buy a 6 speed/class SDHC card for this camera. If you use a 2 speed/class SDHC card, ANYTHING you do with this camera will really suck and you will be sorely disappointed thinking it's the camera's fault. These 2 speed/class SDHC cards are plentiful, common, and CHEAP! DO NOT USE THEM. A 4 speed/class SDHC card is MAYBE acceptable... barely. In reality though, anything less than a 6 speed/class SDHC card and your video playback will be slow and lag. I use both a 6 and 4 speed/class and am MUCH happier with the video and photographic results using the 6 speed/class SDHC card. I don't know what camera the reviewer below used saying it doesn't take 6 speed/class cards... my VPC-CG10 camera does.

I swear, either all these bad reviewers work for a Sanyo competitor, or they never read their manuals and/or don't know a thing about cameras (especially this one) or photography. I don't know what it is, but with almost all these bad reviews... I don't think they have the same camera as me!

That's all for now. I will update with more later when I have more time to read through these competitors bad reviews of this great camera. I hope I helped!

BUY THIS CAMERA! You won't be disappointed.

Read Best Reviews of Sanyo Xacti CG10 Dual Camera HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Red) Here

I just bought this dual-cam recently and it's been great.

#1 it's made for portability I'm a guy and this fits in a pocket just fine.

#2 features unbelievable what Sanyo fit in this thing. 720p (vid quality is as expected for the price), photo during recording, Av/Tv priority, 7fps burst, built-in flash, in-camera editing, frame-by-frame in-camera playback, 5x OPTICAL zoom, (cheesy) image stabilization, focus/exposure lock, selectable iso, face recognition...etc etc

#3 build quality amazing it's a solid, well textured and designed little unit. It fits natural. The lcd is bright / clear / fast and its hinge is very strong. Feels very high quality, unlike my previous zi6. All parts are tight and smooth. The SDHC slot feels floppy though.

#4 for the $149 deal, it smokes anything else in its price range: zi6, flip mino hd, insignia, rca, vado as far as being a complete package.

It records just short of 4 hours on 16gb sdhc card at 720p. VGA / Youtube shooting is practically endless (12hrs?). eBay has some 900mah replacement batteries ~$5 each that get you ~50 mins video time per at 720p.

I got it mostly for golf swing videos the sports mode and 60fps 640x480 fits my needs perfectly. But I'm completely confident in bringing this camera to anything else and recording great videos no matter what they might be.

Want Sanyo Xacti CG10 Dual Camera HD Flash Memory Camcorder with 5x Optical Zoom (Red) Discount?

For the price, this is a great little dual camera. It is just the right size (easily fits in a pocket) takes good standard and HD video and acts as a servicable point and shoot digital camera.

Here are some cons:

* Proprietary USB What's up with that? Sanyo stick with micro or mini USB like every other camera on the market!

* 5X Optical Zoom Ok, I know you'd need a bigger lens for more zoom but for me I'd like a little more (12x would be fine).

* No HDMI cable with it I would have thought it would come with one

* Battery needs to be taken out to be charged.

* Camera sucks the battery down when plugged into the computer and it does not charge while plugged into the computer.

Here are some pros:

* Form factor I've never had a pistol type camera and I really like it.

* Controls are very simple and easy to use

* Love that you can snap a picture while recording video

* The 720p HD video is very good

* It speaks well with my Mac thanks to mpeg-4. Plug the camera in and it opens up my camera right in iPhoto '09

* Good flash for such a small camera

* Price and features for price paid

So I bought this camera to take quick video and it has not disappointed. I have been looking at this for a while but could not find it available anywhere until May 1. I purchased my camera at Radio Shack for $149 but even at $199 it's a good value. I tried an Apitek and Insignia and hated them both (and they were a pain to get to work with a mac). They were priced comperable and I don't think they hold a candle to this. I've heard good things about Flip Mino but I just don't like them.

So far so good. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a dual camera that can be carried around in a pocket or purse for quick use when needed.

Sony digital recorder - SY-ICD-AX412

Sony digital recorder - SY-ICD-AX412I purchased this recorder for research purposes. I had to conduct many interviews and group discussions. This recorder worked great. It picked up voices of individuals sitting at the far end of the table (when the microphone was placed in the center of the table). And the one-on-one interviews were so crisp. I highly recommend this recorder for researchers, reporters and students. And it was dependable. I taped hours and hours of interviews. The storage capacity is amazing. My only criticism would be the buttons are very loud, so if you have to pause, or stop a recording, and restart, it's very noticeable during a recording. Perhaps there is a way to silence the button tones but I have looked and looked for that feature. No luck. The volume only controls the playback.

F900,DOD,H.264,WIDE LENS 120 DEG,1080P HD CAR BLACK BOX,CAR DRIVING DVR CAMERA,DASHBOARD CAMERA,4X

F900,DOD,H.264,WIDE LENS 120 DEG,1080P HD CAR BLACK BOX,CAR DRIVING DVR CAMERA,DASHBOARD CAMERA,4X ZOOM,12.0MP,2.4'LCDI bought this cam to use during custody exchanges with the ex because it is sleek and simple and doesn't stand out (we all gota protect ourselves somehow). I received it and laughed at the box since it's written in mostly Russian. Just found out that over 1,000,000 Russians have these in their cars, that's how they caught so many clips of the meteor crashing. Anyway, the camera works well, 1080p ISN'T as clear and defined as I thought it would be... seems more like 480p in a widescreen format but hey, I'm not looking to make home movies with it. In 1080p mode and doing a continuous 10 minute loop recording it records about 2GB per file (2 files needed). So at minimum a 4GB SD memory card should be bought with this.... I recommend just maxing it out to a 32 GB card so you don't ever have to worry.

If your car cigarette lighter olug power turns OFF with the ignition you can set this up to record loops and start the car and have it automatically START recording and turn the car off and have it automatically STOP recording.

The product is made of plastic so don't expect some durable camera or anything... it's made pretty cheaply but with a price at around 50 bucks on Amazon what do you really expect.

Overall it is a very good camera and it serves its purpose well but I don't think that it is actually 1080p or that it should be advertised as 1080p since it is DEFINITELY not clear like a 1080p video should be.

F900 Box arrives quickly with many accessories. Camera weighs next to nothing, has shiny toylike look and feel of cheap plastic. Even so, tiniest screws all around suggest carefully put together. First problem: how to get battery into camera no help from Manual or from examining camera body. Finally figured it goes in fattest part and resorted after much effort or fruitless fumbling to another rough method: use a knife blade to pry open line around case where battery clearly must go, put blade into crack and twisted and lo, cover slid back. This has to account for some misery among buyers. I like this camera, will keep it, now list its faults.

SD CARD a struggle to get into tight area blocked by handle and harder to pull out with not enough room for fingers. Suggest file a groove on card edge so fingernail can grip and yank out.

MANUAL for English section has pictures so tiny as unreadable, even though next section for ?Japanese language shows much larger picture printed with a clear part number. Had to flip back and forth over three sections to follow instruction. Solution: use 3.5X reading glasses. Easier than interpreting Manual, I decided to just fiddle with each button and toggle post to learn how to operate just enough for my purpose to set language to English (why can't they do this before shipping to avoid horror of opening menu to foreign text?), adjust date and time and resolution, and turn off irritating beep.

PHOTOS on computer look fuzzy and distorted from bowing.

VIDEOS look fair, though good for this price, have obvious distortion, such that every straight line has a bow to it.

TESTING. I played with camera at my desk and pointing out window till comfortable with button operation and screen display, then did live field test now in attached video. Press On/Off button on top to turn on, getting blue working light, A second later, upside down display of nifty red automobile quickly righted itself. Press down on slightly raised joystick on top to begin recording, proved by red dot on screen.

For second test, I plugged into car battery for power. Camera did not turn on when engine started. It started recording when On/Off button pressed, eliminating need to again press down on Joystick.

Date and time appear thoughtfully at lower left corner in large white font. Time countdown appears upper right during recording, though oddly not visible on computer playback.

RECORDING, press joystick forward turns on Night Light recording -seems to make no quality difference except to put reflective glare on window. Joy to Left or Right zooms jerkily in or out with significant range on street and closeup desktop images. Zooming from 1X toward 4X got more grainy and fuzzy, obvious in video playback. To start or stop a recording, pressing the Stop Button seems to do same as pressing Joystick. SCREEN goes blank for a second or two at end and at start of recording. Zoom function useful by allowing closeup recording to enlarge detail on any object. [cc see house number and garage lamp in my sample video] In car test plugged into cig lighter bottom right of display showed flashing sign of power plug camera did not turn on or off with engine. I needed to press Power button, and once pressed, it started recording within a couple seconds.

Handheld test: DAYLIGHT recording has faint bluish tint and near objects not sharp. NIGHTTIME recording atest shows camera can record object with light on it and can get some detail within about 18 feet. At night it failed to show green or red or yellow color of street and car lights except as white spots. Moving camera slowly caused light to streak.

Car driving test: DAYLIGHT recording fairly sharp, showing wide view. Later playback confirmed cloudy day recording produces much better video, almost impressive. Street lights distinctly red, yellow or green though on playback appear pulsing or shimmering.

PLAYBACK, press Forward Arrow button on top. Use joystick to navigate thumbnails of combined video and photo images. Down goes forward, Up goes back. Press joystick to play. For still images fullscreen, Up and Down move backward or forward. Recording quality can show distinct letters on license plates when close, even better enlarged during playback on computer monitor. Camera lens makes nearly true sizes, without apparent stretching or squeezing image as do other cheaper cameras tested by me. I left camera in 720P setting for my tests, though maybe better if set to "1080". Camera produced huge AVI file that filled my monitor screen. Camera assigned my 4pm video in afternoon daylight number 164101 and my 4am video in dark night number 0434001, suggesting video naming may relate to time of day (16 as 16 hours on 24-hr clock or 4pm, and 04 as 4am), then 001, 002 for sequence.

BATTERY takes bizarrely long time to charge. After 5 hours mine only charged with 2 bars out of full max 3. Overnight still not full. And it wears down fast.

CONCLUSION? Good carcam for amount money paid and would recommend it as not too hard to use, producing clear enough images and good audio on computer playback. Showed sharp image of other vehicles on street, often making plate readable. Sound loud enough when playback on computer though barely can hear from camera speaker. My audio samples had a frequent grinding noise, not sure if camera or my car. Slight blue tinge to recording. Jerky zoom not a real concern. An important feature for fighting a traffic signal ticket, camera showed show true-enough color of street light during day (though poor color at night), Mount on windshield problematic as would not stay attached, while grip for camera does not allow easy positioning to film and view display at same time.

I owned this for literally about 30 days. That's how long the product lasted before it broke.

Something electronic inside prevented the camera from turning on again. It wouldn't work with battery or usb power.

I enjoyed it while I had it. It definitely took some getting used to having a screen on my windshield. You can't close the LCD with the camera on. This will shut the camera off immediately.

The mount broke from over-tightening... which i needed to do to keep it from bouncing on every little bump.

In title written "H.264" but camera does not support H264 encoding only MJPEG.

Therefore full 1080p does not make any sense because you need HUGE 32G sd card to have at least 1.5 hours capturing.

It is not dash camera and you need to start record each time you need to record and stop it then.

video quality acceptable (ohh yeah with such huge video files)

freezing from time to time

Summary: cheap video recorder to record short videos.

Pioneer DV-310 Slim Multi-Format DVD Player Featuring USB and DivX? Playback

Pioneer DV-310 Slim Multi-Format DVD Player Featuring USB and DivX? Playback
  • DivX¿ Playback
  • DTS¿ Output, Dolb¿ Digital Output,
  • Dialogue Enhancer
  • Virtual Surround
  • Sound Equalizer

Chose this unit for two main reasons: The USB media port -a nice feature, not widely enough available in this price range -and a good track record for our previously owned Pioneer DVD player. This unit plays nicely with our (non-HDTV) home theater setup, and its controls and interface are satisfyingly intuitive. Just two shortcomings -neither a dealkiller: I wish it had come with either an optical-out audio port or a coaxial audio cable (which I'll probably get at some point, but RCA-out is OK for our purposes for now). And I wish it weren't so fussy about the format of video files via USB; it really plays only DivX files, not MP4s, Quicktime, etc.

New! Mini 5.0MP Camera HD DV Video Recorder 1280*960 BK

New! Mini 5.0MP Camera HD DV Video Recorder 1280*960 BKI bought this camera for my granddaughter to use. After several hours of trying to understand how it works the best I could do with it was several blurred images. The viewfinder also was blurred and almost useless. It is so small it is very difficult to hold and even harder to shoot. I returned it after she refused to accept it.

This is the worst purchase I made on amazon. There was little information but many sellers. I see why now. The camera is the size of a quarter and need a separate battery pack to plug into it. It is hard to hold and you never know if you actually took a photo just to find out that the disk to read the photos is not compatible with Windows 7 (not sure on any other OS). It even crashed my computer and I have to re-install everything.

New Arrival! - kdLinks HD210 Full HD 1080P Multimedia Digital Signage TV Media player

New Arrival! - kdLinks HD210 Full HD 1080P Multimedia Digital Signage TV Media playerI haven't written an Amazon review in a looong time.

I felt compelled to write one mainly based on the excellent customer service this retailer offers.

Although the product is shipped from Amazon warehouses (making it qualify for Amazon Prime! shipping),

the seller is a really nice guy (Eric) and has answered every random question I've thrown at him within a few hours.

I had originally purchased another player, the NBox V3 which is a really popular player on here as well.

It was a really nice product with lots of options and features but I was having problems with some of the newer MKV files.

The encoding was not being read by the Nbox. Eric was prompt to offer me a return and suggested the kdLinks HD210 because

it does a bit better with MKV files. Sure enough... this thing plays everything I've thrown at it with ease, huge files, small files, all formats.

It's great if you watch TV series or anime, like everyone's been saying. You can't even get something like this without paying way over a 100 dollars.

I have an Apple TV at home which i love for the whole iPhone remote capability (typing on YouTube, Vimeo, Netflix, etc), but I couldn't do my personal

computer files that i watch in my room. I wanted to see the files the way they were meant to be seen (in 1080p in my TV in the living room).

Sure enough, this player delivers in price/features balance and excellent customer support. And you just can't beat that.

Highly recommended. If only for the customer service alone. Enough said!

Been using my kdlinks for the past 2 weeks on a constant basis. It plays tv shows, movies, etc...with crystal clear video and sound that is perfect. There is NO need to burn a dvd anymore. I have a nice thumb drive plug it in the back of the KDlinks, I put my movies on it, and watch them on my hd tv in 1080P via an HDMI and it is amazing. Make no mistakes that the KD links WORKS and works great. Have ZERO misgivings about buying it. Oh and the shipping is very very fast, which is great, because once you own it, you'll be wondering how you lived without it.

Buy New Arrival! - kdLinks HD210 Full HD 1080P Multimedia Digital Signage TV Media player Now

The HD210 plays almost everything. The cool thing is on the left side of the player, it has a hidden vertical stand to pull out and rotate for 90 degrees.

This is a piece of junk and the seller is highly suspect as well. Take a look at all of the reviews preceding mine. The vast majority of them have never reviewed another item on Amazon. These are probably fake reviews written by or on behalf of the seller.

The player itself freezes constantly when you try to use any of the modes during play. When you try to load a file (MPEG2 and AVI), you're lucky if it will read every other one. When it doesn't, it needs to be re-booted. Additionally, SDHC's formatted in NFTS may not work at all.

Expect to see numerous accusations against my review as a result of the seller mustering his forces to discredit this legitimate review.

The unit is very easy to use and the remote works well. I am impressed with the quality of the video that I see on my TV screen. The unit plays video that I had problems playing on my Apple iMac and give better quality presentations. The remote is easy to use and all of the functions work properly. I use the HD210 with a Western Digital HD and have not had any problems. I would recommend this to a friend.

Sony ICD-P210 Digital Voice Recorder (Silver)

Sony ICD-P210 Digital Voice RecorderI use my Sony ICD-P210 as my "todo" list. I also record college classroom sessions. I do agree with the other reviewers that this device doesn't record music well but for a classroom discussion this thing works very well especially on the High Quality setting. I kept my Antivirus on while installing this software and had no problem the software is very easy to use! Great for personal logs (journal)/todo list/college classroom (especially if it is in a discussion format).

I use this to record my literature and philosophy lectures and it works pretty well! A smart choice!

I am very pleased with this small, easy to carry in a pocket recorder. I just now found this recorder as it is so small it can get lost easy. I was able to record from friends and family of my parents their memories of my parents. Thanks to this quality recorder I have an audible record of what they said and what they remembered. This recorder's capacity will record more than what you will need, and is kind of like a digital camera. You can erase what you do not want and keep what you want to keep or store your recordings on your computer's hard drive or burn a CD. The various folders are great for seperating information that you are recording. Very Very happy with my Sony digital recorder.

This little digital recorder can be plugged in to a phone adapter, such as the one I got from Radio Shack for about $20.

I caught all kinds of evidence of verbal abuse from the male humanoid to whom I used to be married with this thing, both over the phone and in person.

Small, silent, and has good, sensitive pickup of sound. And the editing program is easy to use on the computer for saving and sharing sound files.

Want Sony ICD-P210 Digital Voice Recorder (Silver) Discount?

I was looking for a microrecorder, and the clerk at Radio Shack sold me on this digital. This recorder is very small and transportable and possesses many great features. I think it would be great for making notes or reminders, however I was looking for a tool to capture barbershop quartet rehearsal sessions and the sound was garbled. Also the speaker is small; so the sound is small. The other thing that scares me, is that you are supposed to turn off your computer's virus protection before installing the file editing software. I'm not willing to risk it; so I can't comment on that. I'm returning this to Radio Shack if I can and exchanging it for what I wanted in the first place.

Panasonic PVDV953 MiniDV Camcorder with 3.5" LCD, 3CCD, and 16MB SD

Panasonic PVDV953 MiniDV Camcorder with 3.5' LCD, 3CCD, and 16MB SDpanasonic has a winner in the PVDV953 camcorder. it has 3CCDs and takes incredible video. at a list price of less than fifteen hundred bucks, this is an incredible value. comparable 3CCD camcorders from sony are at least five hundred bucks more.

pros:

excellent value 3CCDs for less than fifteen hundred bucks!

as expected from having 3CCDs, this camcorder displays excellent video quality in good lighting.

color reproduction is amazing having 3CCDs definitely make a difference here.

for a camcorder, this unit boasts high quality stills.

built-in flash for stills.

optical image stabilization and it really works.

large 3.5 inch lcd.

top-loading tape mechanism this means you don't have to remove your camcorder from the tripod to change tapes.

allows a great degree of manual control.

miniDV media is widely supported.

great connectivity options: firewire, USB, S-video, headphone, mic input, etc.

leica dicomar lens.

magic pix function allows video capture even for very low light situations (just don't expect quality footage).

built in pop-up flash for taking photos.

ability to record mpeg videos directly to SD card.

the built-in mic zooms to your target in coordination with the lens.

the price. 3CCDs at this price point is just a huge bargain.

cons:

the accessory shoe is not a hot shoe; this means that while you can get a third party video light, the camcorder will have absolutely zero interaction with the light. contrast this with sony, which has some video lights that will even adjust light intensity automatically depending on inputs from the camcorder. with the pv953, this is not possible.

very limited accessory list from panasonic.

no built in video light but you can get third party lights. oddly enough, when i emailed panasonic about an optional video light, they responded that they don't make video lights for this camcorder. very strange.

low resolution viewfinder

below average low light recording quality.

the included 16MB SD card is barely adequate. be prepared to shell out more money for more memory.

lots of functions are buried in the menu system.

it could be lighter dimensions are 5-1/8"H x 10-5/8"W x 8-1/2"D and this unit weighs 1.7 pounds.

i have to keep coming back to what an incredible value this camcorder is. this will apply downward pressure on sony products and that can only be good for consumuers. if you're considering a camcorder in this price range, the PVDV953 should be in your short list. enjoy!

Overall I really like this camera. It takes great video and is fun to use.

Pros:

* 3CCD for great resolution and color separation

* Gorgeous LCD screen image

* Manual as well as automatic settings

* Fades sound in addition to picture

* Auto focus from wide angle to macro

* Mic directional angle and sensitivity vary as video zooms

* Automatically position to end of tape

* Create titles and overlay them on video

* Convert/Shoot video as MPEG4 for the web

* Low light mode preserves mood without altering picture brightness

Cons:

* External microphone, headphone, remote, and external A/V in/out use the same jack, so no two can be used at the same time (a real design screw-up).

* Camera can show date and time over the image in the display but does NOT record it.

I will comment on features and facets that I think are significant or that are not done justice by the detailed specifications. Of course, you can find out all this and more by downloading the pdf of the manual.

* The camera has three modes: Camera, VCR, and Card. In Camera mode you acquire video through the lens. In VCR mode you can record on and playback from the tape through a cable. In Card mode you can work with still images on a memory card. In particular, you can take a 3 megapixel digital picture and store it on the card.

* Camera starts recording approx. one second after pressing record button. Record lamp appears to not turn on until camera actually starts recording. Record lamp can be disabled.

* Camera takes approx. 6 secs to position tape and prepare for next shot after pressing stop recording. It makes a whining noise while doing so. This has not been a problem so far.

* Many functions are accessible only through menus. The menus display on the LCD or viewfinder.

* Date/Time display is turned on and off through menu, but I cannot get it to record as an overlay to the video.

* Audio: 12 bit or 16 bit. Audio dub mixes with 12 bit and replaces 16 bit.

* Video insert: This may be a DV feature. Recording over an existing recording inserts the new audio and video without damaging the recording that follows.

* Counter is frame accurate. Can position to any already-recorded frame when in VCR mode.

* The eyepiece viewfinder is rather small, but is color. It can swivel up and pull out. I use the LCD monitor.

* The LCD swivel allows turning the LCD toward the people being taped so they can see themselves. The image automatically rotates to be right side up and can be mirror image or not.

* Filter diameter is 43 mm.

* Hot shoe does not appear to be "hot," but it does allow mounting an external light or mic.

* Optical Image stabilization removes the little shakes and makes possible reasonably steady handheld telephoto shots as well as steady handheld moving the camera around.

* The infrared capability seems to be only for using the camera in VCR mode with the infrared remote.

* The cable-attached remote functions are record start/stop, zoom and photo shot.

* Digital still can be 640x480 or 2048x1496. A still shot can be recorded to the memory card or to tape (DV resolution) for 7 seconds.

* Camera can convert A/V source (camera lens, recorded tape, or cable input) to MPEG4. It creates an ASF file on the memory card. ASF is a format used by Windows Media.

* Camera can connect to a PC so that the memory card appears as a USB drive. Then can drag wanted files to the PC.

* Create titles that overlay on video by selecting Create Title from menu and pressing photo shoot button to take a picture of text or other two-color image. I print black text on white paper using PowerPoint. Then set the image or background to black and the other to the desired color. Video will show through whatever is black and the other color will overlay. Store one or more titles on the memory card, select the desired one, and when ready, push a button to make it overlay, push again to make it go away.

* A cable is provided to do stereo audio and composite video in/out, which allows showing videos on a TV, copying them to VHS, copying VHS to to DV, etc.

* Other cable included is USB.

* S-Video jack can be used for input and output (cable is not supplied). Must use the A/V IN/OUT cable at the same time for the sound.

* Battery type is CGR-D16 (lithium). A battery and charger are included.

* In-camera digital effects: Multi-picture (display 3x3 grid of pictures and tape them), P-in-P (overlay moving picture with small still picture in any one corner), Wipe/Mix (horizontal wipe or dissolve, both from still captured at end of last scene to new scene), strobe effect, gain up, trail, mosaic, mirror (right half of image is mirror image of left), negative, sepia, Black and white, solari (painting-like effect). These must be set up through a menu.

* Has a tripod receptacle.

Buy Panasonic PVDV953 MiniDV Camcorder with 3.5" LCD, 3CCD, and 16MB SD Now

When I purchased this Camera I was looking for the absolute best camera for under $1500. Well that is exactly what I got. The video quality of this camera is Oustanding with the 3CCD's at 800K Pixels each!!! I spent $3000.00 on my Sony 3CCD Camera and this Panasonic produces video just as good if not better. Here are my Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-Fantastic video quality, far better than any closely priced model.

-Great stills for a MiniDV CAM.

-Price is Unbelievable.

-The zoom is easy to use and it is adjustable.

-Additional lenses are fairly easy to find(on the internet) and inexpensive.

-Battery Life is good considering the 3CCD.

-The video Stabelizer actually works and it works well.

-The 3CCD produces colors that you just can't get on other cameras.

Cons:

-Larger than other MiniDV Cams but compared to others in its class it is actually quite small.

-16 MB SD Card is inadequate, barely takes 15 pictures.

-The camera is not quite as rugged as others in its class. You have to be careful with it.

Overall the PRO's of this camera far out weigh the Con's. This is a Super Deal on a Super Camera. I recommend it for anyone who wants professional quality video for under $2500.

I recently purchased this camera from a company in New York for less than 1600 US. The deal included shipping and a ton of extras (pro pack it was called). Anyhow, aside from the lousy manual and useless software, the camera is fantastic. The video quality is stunning to say the least and the digital stills I am taking are impressive. As for the manual, I quickly remedied this by going online and hunting down reviews for the camera (DVD-Spot had the best/most thorough). I am still working on software for converting my home movies to dvd, but I will get that accomplished over time. If anybody knows how to disable the pop up flash (very anoying when taking pictures in adequate light) I would greatly appreciate it.

Overall I recommend this camera whole heartedly

I have had this video cam for over a year. The picture clarity is the best and it is extremely easy to use. I have had the still pictures developed at Costco/Walmart and they rival any good digital camera.

I have created many a family movie with Microsoft's free movie maker software. For the guy who said he can't get it on his computer, all you need is a firewire cable and movie maker (which is free with Win XP~ plus movie maker2 is downloadable free from Microsoft's website) Plug the camera in and the XP system will identify it. It worked great for me!

Love my video cam!

Dahua 4 Channel Full D1 Standalone DVR SAX0410HRS

Dahua 4 Channel Full D1 Standalone DVR SAX0410HRSI'm using this DVR for recording surveillance around the outside of my house and it does what it's supposed to. I have not yet tested the networking function, but I will update the review once I'm able to.

The unit records up to D1 on all 4 channels simultaneously and it looks good. It doesn't say that in the description that it's all 4 channels at once, so that's important to note. Although I can't recognize license plates from 15 feet away or so with this unit/camera combo, that's probably more a function of the camera (even at 700 TVL...). I'm not using the audio input but there's one channel for that. All inputs are BNC connectors. Network connection is RJ-45 and there is a USB port on the front and one on the back. My mouse doesn't work on the backside (probably for another external HD? That shouldn't matter...) but it works on the front, so that's not an issue. There are also alarm and PTZ camera inputs, but I'm not using those.

It has VGA, HDMI, and BNC video outputs. I've used the HDMI out and it looks good. For day-to-day monitoring I'm using the VGA output to a computer monitor so it's fine. The resolution is almost as good as HD from VGA; you just won't get any sound from it. Not sure if the HDMI will transmit audio on this unit or not as it does have a separate audio BNC output. Something to consider as the manual on this thing is decent, but not very in-depth.

Viewing the cameras is straightforward. All 4 channels can be viewed at once with split-screen or just one camera at a time. It looks like you can even setup different views and save them to scroll through as you're watching. There is a zoom function for on-screen viewing real-time as well as playback, although the clarity will seriously depend on your camera.

Controls are very clunky and weird. The remote isn't laid out well or coherently at all, so I just use the mouse. SmartSearch is good as it only shows you action as it happens and you don't have to watch the whole day's worth of footage to see what you want. Stop/start and play/pause functionality during playback don't work logically. If you're watching at 2x playback, you have to finish scrolling through all the playback modes (there are 4) to get back to normal speed. By then the action on the screen is over and there really isn't a rewind button. I'm still trying to figure out how to do that on-screen without downloading the video to a USB drive to watch on a computer.

That being said, this DVR produces an encrypted video file that apparently can only be watched using the software that comes with it. I haven't yet tried this because it's a pain in the rear to install the software is shipped on a mini-disc CD so I can't put it in my iMac. Maybe there's a software download somewhere...

Overall, the video quality of this DVR is good, but I'm missing some serious user-friendly controls and a disc I can actually put in my main computer and not a laptop PC. Until I get it on the network I won't be able to fully assess its performance and I'm hoping the controls online will be more coherent than what I'm getting on-screen. The remote is basically useless, so you'll most likely need a mouse. I use a Bluetooth wireless mouse because of the unit's location and it works fine.

For the price, it's a decent buy. I'm unfamiliar with anything else in this range, but I would probably look for something more user-friendly if this one broke. This unit DOES NOT come with a HD included. Another $200 bucks or so for 2TB. If you're recording 1 or 2 channels at highest res, it looks like you can record for about 3 weeks straight possibly longer. I know at least 1-channel at D1 will get you that long. I'm only recording one camera at this point.

Maxell 630011 700MB 80 Minute CD-RW (10pk Case)

Maxell 630011 700MB 80 Minute CD-RWugh, These Cds are horrible.

Pros

You can rewrite them

They come with their own cases

They can hold up to 20 songs

Cons

They have errors on them

They can't play on a car stereo or Stereo

They are easily breakable.

I felt that I made a bad decision buying these, and I hope I stop you from buying these with this review.

i was looking for a cd-rw for my standalone cd recorder for my stereo system which took "audio recordable disc only". even though this says "music" on the front of the package it didn't work. i did end up buying the tdk brand music recordable discs.

Coby 2-Inch TFT LCD SNAPP HD Camcorder/Camera CAM5000 (Black)

Coby 2-Inch TFT LCD SNAPP HD Camcorder/Camera CAM5000The price point when compared to the Kodak or Flip is great, however video quality is not up to the same standard as these competitors. Video appears slightly washed out and grainy. Have also noticed a consistant issue with a horizontal line that appears in every video approx every 5 seconds.

If you are looking for an ultra cheap'o mini cam just to post video to YouTube and your Facebook account then these faults might not be so concerning. If you are in it for the long haul and would like the best possible picture quality out of a camera in this form factor, you might want to consider the other options out there. I will be returning my recent purchase.

I bought this camera, Christmas 2009. It is now March 2010 and the camera is fully dead.

I noticed a problem about two weeks into using the product. It developed a "tick" during recording....tick...tick....tick....tick....like a clock....I was disappointed to hear it on playback as well...I wrote to the tech support crew from the Coby website. I never received a response.

Sometime Mid-February, the camera developed a bug where, when I turned it on, it would say "HDMI" and the screen would black out, making the camera completely unusable. Again, I contacted support asking for help and never heard from them. At this time, I took the camera back to Fry's where I bought it but they wouldn't return/exchange it because it had been 6 weeks. I got it to work a few times after that by connecting it to an HDMI TV to get to the menu's, but that really didn't help. The problem persists.

How disappointing. Another inexpensive technology that only lives up to its promise for a limited time then dies. Combined with *zero* support from the parent company, this product is a no-buy.

Think about how many resources get consumed manufacturing products like this only to have them junked into landfills less than 6 months later. We need to stop purchasing cheap technologies or Earth will pay the price...Lesson learned!!

Buy Coby 2-Inch TFT LCD SNAPP HD Camcorder/Camera CAM5000 (Black) Now

Good for casual use. Noise when you click for zooming. No remote. Only 4x zooming.

Just a backup camcorder. If you're shooting e.g. graduation or weddings, for a little more money, use a good camcorder. If just shooting short but good quality videos, consider investing in high-end cellphones/pda. If you carry your psp or nintendo ds with you, cameras for these gamers might be enough for short low-quality videos.

I bought this about a month ago and I just opened the box to recharge the unit via its USB port.

Has anyone had the same thing happen to them with this device?:

It takes FOREVER to recharge its battery.

From what I gather at the Coby website it should take a least 12 hours of recharge to finally get the device to work on a full charge.

I would rather not keep my computer running for 12 hours as the battery gets its "juice"...and there is NO way of recharging with an AC recharger.

I like the look of the device and it would be perfect for what I would use it for, but this recharging the battery is a major chore (speaking for myself!).

It's been two days on recharge through computer and the still the small red light blinks...meaning it's not done yet.

I may just return it.

Wotta pity!

Peace
