I bought two identical systems, one for myself and one for my father. So far I have hooked up both systems, each with two cameras. The systems setup is very easy, I didn't read any instructions and I had the thing up and running as fast as I could hook up the connections. The video output is VGA (computer monitor) and I had one available for each system so I didn't try out the supplied cable to hook up to a tv.

I have never used one of these systems before so I can't compare to any other, but here are my observations. The system is so easy to use for basic surveillance and playback, I haven't hooked up to the internet yet to view remotely so I can't comment on that. The cameras see well in daytime, not so great at night especially at a distance, and they glow red at night so they stand out. My recommendation is to set up a light to shine where the camera is aiming.

I have the motion detection set up, but it is so sensitive that it is almost useless. Any spider or bug that flies in front of the camera will set it off and sometimes it goes off every 5 seconds, other times every 2 minutes, 24/7. As you can imagine this is not useful when something real is occurring that you want to see. The cameras record 24/7 though, not just every time there is motion and it is very easy to scroll throughand see things happen.

Overall a great system for the money based on my non-expert opinion.

These Sony HAD cameras are very good for resolution and see in the dark better than I ever expected. Setup was very simple and I got the system running quickly. I bought this 4 cam system just to see how it worked. I also think it is better to have the redundancy of two 4 camera systems instead of one 8 camera system, so one can be secure and more hidden than the other. I plan to buy another very soon. Don't waste your time with the crap costco, walmart, or harbor freight sells.

We bought this DVR set because there was some things going on around the house, with-in two weeks we found out who it was. Very easy to set up. the network is a little tricky for persons with little experience, but customer service is great. Comes with little instructions. The wire for the cams are heavy duty and 65` long. The day and night shots are Great. Thanx again Amazon.

I am buying another for my church soon.

I installed this for my dad's small business and was pleased with the results. The camera quality is pretty good, except for black which looks like a blue/green no matter how I try to adjust the settings.

I tested my DVR out at home, but when I brought it on site to set up, it no longer booted up. Interacting with the CIB customer service was quick and easy--I explained my problem and they promptly shipped me a new DVR. They even included a pre-paid label to ship my broken one back so the replacement cost me nothing.

I've had the system running now for about a month and everything is going smoothly. The DVR is easy to understand and use. Reviewing footage is a bit sluggish, but I expect all DVRs in this price range would be. Overall, I think this kit is a great buy and would definitely go with CIB again in the future.

I purchased this system to monitor areas outside my house. It was easy to install and setup on my home network. It is not connected to the internet but to a wireless router in my home. The video out has a better picture than the network but that was expected. The network picture is still pretty good. For the reason I installed it I am satisfied with the performance. This is the first system I have had any experiance with.
