A good device. I use it here in the UK for biological recording. I've had two of them now without too many problems (except that I lost one!). Some people I know have had problems with the recording sound quality and, sometimes, I've suffered this myself with voice tags being clipped or otherwise distorted. I use free biological recording software to process the sound and CSV files to make biological records.

This is my first impression of the device, straight out of the box, unused. Nice looking, well finished, little heavier than I expected. The accessories did not include the carrying pouch pictured online, just a simple slip case. No AC charger. A charger apparently is an accessory. Really? It does come with a car adaptor for charging, so I plugged it in using what appears to be a USB cable but is expressley described as a dedicated charging cable and cannot be used for USB port data transfer or charging. How long before it is lost, confused with one of the many USB cables I have? Also, the unit came with no memory. Labeled "innovative", the data logger uses a micro SD card for memory. That's fine, but it should come with one. So....$70.00 in, no charger and no memory. Not even a good first impression. I have to wonder what else is missing.

The V-990 logs as well as the V-900, however, it does not include bluetooth capability. Further, Windows 7 did not recognize the device to enable GPS 'mouse mode' which effectively limits this device to logging capabilities only.
