The picture quality is outstanding (compared to my other cameras). The setup was relatively easy. The only negative thing I can say (and it's minor) is the monitoring software is not compatible with my other non Esky cameras. Also, it doesn't work well with my android phone app. But these are minor issues because I found a way to work around them. I

I'm returning this product. The hardware seems fine. The problem is the software. The camera resets its position every day, which means that I can't keep it pointed in the direction I want. The software is poorly written, which means I never know when the config has actually taken effect. Example: If you change the admin password (as you should), you're actually limited to something like 8-10 characters. But the interface doesn't tell you this. When I tried to configure a longer password, it took it, but then it wouldn't let me log back in to the admin interface. I had to manually reset the camera to factory defaults in order to get back in.

We have been using the camera for few months and we really like it. There are so many iphone apps that are compatible with it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because sometimes we have to reconfigure it. But to be fair, I am not sure if this is problem with the camera or with the router we are using. Most probably it is the router, but I just wanted to mention it.

This product has ZERO technical service. I am an IT professional and could not get this product to work with a Mac. I would strongly encourage you to read reviews about this product from other sites than Amazon. If I had I would not have purchased. Oh, and it is impossible to return.

Getting an email from the motion sensor has proven them worth the money spent. The cost is certainly reasonable. The image resolution is not high quality, but enough. Cisco umi with 720p HD resolution

I bought the Umi from the Cisco home store and it has surpassed my expectation. I was able to talk to family in switzerland and UK in no time. Now I don't have to work through a difficult user interface to do a video call. Now a video call is as simple as making a phone call. Since umi integrates with the TV and existing cable set top box, switching to a call and then back to TV is very simple and seamless.

My sister's Playstation 3 broke down and we plan on using it for Televideo between us using the PS3 Move system. I thought it would be a better idea to buy her the Cisco Umi system to avoid paying the PS3 repair fee... but it turns out it is cheaper to buy a whole new Playstation 3 with Move or an XBox 360 with Kinect and use these for Televideo! I still do not get it... how do they plan on selling the Umi system when it is more expensive than the competition, and the competition offers videogames on top of that! I know the Umi has more features, and is more reliable, but these features are not needed when you just want to talk and see your sister on the other side of your TV!

Bought this because it's 720p and takes batteries (I'm tired of charging Lithiums.) It's quick and makes good video in bright light. No zoom except digital. No optical stabilization digital only. When the light changes, the iris' adjustments are sudden and noticeable in finished video. Controls are confusing but give you enough choices. No way to plug in microphones; you're stuck with the on-camera mic which will pick up every hand twitch. Battery life (4 AAAs) is roughly two hours before it quits. Software very confusing and limited. On a PC you can burn AVCHD DVDs which play in some BluRays that's nice. If you want to save video as files for editing in software other than that provided, you'll be working hard to find ways to convert them. Basically a box camera that shoots HD video but requires some effort to prepare to edit. For the price, I'm satisfied. (Includes NO software for Mac.)

I just received this camera today, and I haven't yet gotten around to testing all of the features yet, but I like it so far.

The macro function (a switch near the lens seems to move the lens a little to change the focus depth) works pretty well for close-up shots of small objects, although with the fixed-focus lens you have to move the camera closer or farther from the object being photographed in order to get a good focus. Thanks to the zoom, however, you can keep the object framed just how you like it once you get it focused.

The 8x digital zoom is impressive, and the stabilization feature comes in very handy when you're taking still shots at full zoom.

The OS list in the description above is just for the included software, not the camera. I plugged it in to my Ubuntu Linux computer, and it worked just fine. It appeared in my /media folder, and I was able to access the videos and images in the camera. The camera appears as one external drive whether you have an SD card loaded or not, only the size of the external drive changes depending on the SD card. One downside, when you plug the camera in to your computer, you need to open the LCD screen to turn on the camera and set the connection. A separate button or something would have been better in my opinion. I like that the videos are saved as .AVI instead of some weird proprietary format that requires the included software to work with.

The camera ships with 4 AAA batteries, yet it has contacts in the battery compartment for an optional rechargeable Li-Ion battery (NP60, pretty cheap here on Amazon) for longer life. It does not appear that plugging the camera in to the USB port on your computer will charge the battery, yet it does provide power to the camera when the batteries are removed.

The menu for changing settings is pretty basic. Almost everything is displayed as icons. You will need to consult the user manual to decipher what each icon means.

There is no flash on this camera, yet there is a light under the lens that you can toggle on and off as needed in both video and still modes.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this camera so far.

We were given this camera as a wedding present and we totally love it! It takes way better pictures than either of our cameras, even when you zoom in really close. It's only downfall is that it doesn't have a flash when taking pictures, just an illumination light in the front. But, the intent of this camera is for video, the still camera is just a bonus. Most of the time, it can draw enough light to where you don't need the flash. It is small and very handy to carry in your purse so it is there when you need it.

The video quality and features are nice, but the reason why I'm giving this camera a 2 star is because of the annoying squeal when playing back a video and the amount of energy the camera drains from the batteries, which takes 4 AAA's. I hear the squeal when I play a video from the camera or computer. I have Ubuntu Linux, so editing HD videos is easy for me since the file is compatible with my editor. I also couldn't find a firmware update for the camera to see if it would fix the squeal.

This was my first cell phone and I still love it! I don't have one anymore, since mine was stolen, but I still love it. It worked great for me, especially as a first phone. It was simple and easy to use, had a good display, though not super digitally awesome. I could use it for texting and phone calls and to listen to music. The sound wasn't as great as I hoped, but using headphones made it perfect. It had a sturdy slide, although the inside LCD screen was actually kind of fragile. I ended having to buy a new one after mine "mysteriously" broke. (I slammed my backpack on top of it.)The plastic covering is lasting. I cracked mine down the side however, when i opened up the screen and then sat on the plastic covering, and it was still stolen! The screen of the phone is also kind of difficult to keep clean. But I didn't mind wiping it with my sleeve every now and then. Like other people have said, the back cover is a little hard to remove, but only because they didn't try to take it out while holding down the latch. Another drawback is the lack of flash on the camera, but that's okay. The other qualities of the phone make up for it and if you have nice bright lighting, the camera works fine. The phone also features bluetooth and other connectivity devices. It has a great battery life. The phone came to me with a charger, head phones, a USB connector cord, and a manual. Overall, I really liked the phone. I think it's a great phone to give to someone who either likes simplicity or is just beginning with cell phones. Plus, the black is a nice touch. The lilac version is also cute!

Phone IS indeed unlocked (per interrogating it from internet) and worked right out of the box. Has alot of bennies that are over my head. Only caveat is that I didn't find it as intuitive as I had hoped, but a printed manual was included and online manual also available for download. I'm happy that slide characteristic precludes unintended "pocket calls" and that audio is fine! I'm VERY HAPPY and only wish I was more sophisticated as to enjoying full features of this fine phone. You CAN'T beat the PRICE! My local ATT store chareges much more for phones that are horrible! Paid close to $100 to ATT for basic basic phone with no model # that I can see, and phone is a nightmare! Text unusable, and volume almost inaudible.

This is easily the best value DIGITAL camcorder out there today, hands down. 'Digital8' is just as good as 'MiniDV' in terms of resolution and picture/audio quality. Why pay more for MiniDV? For under three 'Benjamins', you get reliable digital video and audio quality with over 500 lines of resolution, and a proven medium (Digital8) whose videotapes cost half as much or less than MiniDV tapes. The video quality in low light is also excellent, with a low light switch and feature that works great. And size-wise, the camcorder is not much larger than a MiniDV unit. It is feature-rich and comes with all the accessories you would need, including a charger, battery, lens cap, A/V cable for connection to your TV, a USB cable and software for connection to your PC or Mac. The owner's manual is one of the best i've ever seen, with very intuitive diagrams and easy to operate instructions. And the battery level meter and 'time left' indicator on the LCD view panel is very useful and amazing in it's detail and usefulness. As the other reviewers have noted, the TRV 280 is a very good deal as a full-featured Digital8 camcorder. I have to warn prospective buyers not to believe any source you have read that suggests the 280 supports the analog formats (8mm and Hi8). It does not. If you need to import old 8mm or Hi8 tapes to your PC or Mac, get the TRV 480. I learned the hard way. My son is the benefactor of my error--as the happy owner of the TRV 280.

After doing hours of research on the internet (and I do mean hours and even days) EXTENSIVE research, I have found that, for the money ($259 from Amazon w/free shipping & also getting the Amazon Visa Card for an added discount), this is the best deal as far as digital camcorders go available today. It is certainly the cheapest priced digital camcorder I could find brand new, and the best built camcorder, especially when compared to the many mini dv's available (they look like they could break if you look at them the wrong way)! I had a friend who had a mini dv camcorder comment on their delicate nature, and her mini dv camcorder also quit working after only a few months of normal use (think about the same price range as digital 8 now--not more costly mini dv camcorders).

The Sony digital 8 camcorders may be discontinued soon by Sony (at least that is the asumption from what I read), but I have read more positive reviews (at this price range) for the Sony digital 8 camcorders than any of the comparable mini dv camcorders IN THIS PRICE RANGE. I purchased a Samsung (JUNK JUNK-AVOID) mini dv camcorder from Sam's Club prior to purchasing the Sony DCR-TRV280 from amazon.com, and I was more than disappointed in the performance of the Samsung mini dv camcorder. The picture from my old RCA Autoshoot VHS-C camcorder produced a picture much better than the Samsung could. I couldn't believe how horrible the quality was on the Samsung mini dv camcorder! This was difficult to tell in Sam's Club as all of their camcorders are in a very bright area of the store.

Also, I think blank tapes (8mm/high 8) will be available still for several more years, and this Sony digital 8 camcorder suits my purposes quite well. The tapes can be erased and reused many many times with very little loss of quality, if any, when well taken care of. I must state the opposite of most people when asked "should I go for mini dv or digital 8?" I say go with digital 8 if you're a "point and shoot" person like I am. Consumer Reports also states that these digital 8 camcorders are amongest the best buys in digital camcorders available today. You have to remember too, that Sony is a big name with a big reputation of producing great quality electronics.

Oh, another thing, how many digital camcorders can you get hours upon hours of use out of a single charge on one battery? Check out the optional batteries that are available with these digital 8 handycams. The NP-QM91D is the longest lasting (6 to 12 hours on 1 charge!) Also compatible with this digital 8 handycam is the NP-QM71D and NP-FM50. BEWARE of generic batteries, however (I found out the hard way!) Sony makes many of their newer models to detect the generic batteries and cause the camera to shut down and not charge the battery. I just sent back a generic NP-QM91D that was only $37.50 (Sony brand is around $149 new). Just stick with the Sony brand name infoLITHIUM batteries only. I re-ordered and got the NP-FM50 for $44 from amazon.com (Sony brand). It will give 2 to 3 hours recording time, which, when combined with the battery that came with this camcorder, will be about 4 hours of battery time. This should be plenty for most users. The batteries also recharge remarkably fast (except for the first two batteries I mentioned. Those require an optional "fast charge charger" to get them to charge quickly).

By the way, the Samsung mini dv had many complaints of low battery time (40 minutes or less). I think Sony makes the longest lasting batteries, and I have done a lot of research on this! I hope you will take my word for it, and check out this digital 8 handycam yourself!

This is my first Sony Camcorder product. My previous models were Panasonic VHS-C and a Canon MiniDV. The Sony Digital 8 and other MiniDV cameras are DIGITAL format. Sony uses 8mm while the other use 6mm. Digital 8 is Sony's standard and if you have ever seen Beta compared to VHS you would see that Sony standards are excellent. If a salesman tries to tell you the quality of a Digital 8 is like VHS they are lying or either not informed.

I ended up purchasing a new camcorder since my cats chewed through my Canon Power Cord. The Panasonic did not connect via Firewire (iLink).

So for an early Christmas present I was given this camcorder I got to pick it out. I chose this one because it feels robust and it feels like quality. Many of the miniDV's on the market feel cheap. The viefinder tilts up unlike most MiniDV's today. So this works well if you need to close the LCD and look through the viewfinder while it is on a tripod. As well, this camera sports controls on the LCD, Nightshot which is excellent by the way!!!! There are many features I want go into detail on, but they are listed on this page. The only thing I wished it has was a microphone in port so I could use an separate microphone. The built-in mic works great though.

It connects to my Mac Mini with NO problems. I read one post from a reader about how it wouldn't connect to their computer. There are so many possible reasons why it wouldn't work that I will not go into detail. Suffice it to say, when I first got my Canon it would never work on my Windows 98 machine with a Firewire card. However it worked fine on my Apple Powerbook and my former Dell laptop with Windows XP. So sometimes it is just the OS, the technology and grimlens in the system.

Sony is quality and I do feel I received a quality product. I highly recommend it. You will NOT be disappointed. Controls are put in a logical locations and the battery is a simple "snap" to get in unlike my old Canon.

I wonder if more buyers had the same issue, maybe I misread the information available, but this camera is NOT compabile with the Hi8 nor 8mm formats. You can use tape with Hi8 and 8mm specs., but you CANNOT PLAYBACK any Hi8 nor 8mm tapes with this Digital8 camcorder. Be careful about it!

This microphone is quickly becoming a standard for podcasters. It can be used without a mixer or preamp by connecting it to a computer with a USB cable. If you want to use it with a mixer, it also has XLR output. Both the USB and XLR outputs can be used at the same time.

The mic's sound is excellent. The podcaster's microphone of choice and justifiably so is the Heil PR40. It's the one that Leo Laporte uses on his Internet and radio shows. If you can afford a PR40, buy one. However, if you want to save some money and get a fabulous value, buy this mic. It's cheaper than a Shure SM58, a Blue Snowball, or Audio Technica AT2020, and it sounds better.

I bought 2 of these mics to use as guest mics on my podcast and I'm floored by their sound quality. I have a Shure SM7B mic costing 7 times as much as this mic and although I like the Shure a little better, I'm sure that this is because of my investment. The ability to work with both USB and and XLR is another great plus.

The sound quality is amazing for a mic in this price range and in my opinion is equal to other mics costing at least triple the price. Unlike another rater, I haven't had any problems with my mics using the USB or a mixer.

This mic is cheap enough to buy as just a Skype mic, but also good enough to work well with podcasting, and by this I mean head and shoulders over some other cheap mics like the Blue Snowball. Also, because it is a dynamic mic it also cuts down on the background noise.

Please don't feel that this is some sort of starter mic, it isn't. Even for triple the price it would still be the best sounding mic in my humble opinion. Also, my Mackie mixer has no problem powering this mic and does so easily, plus it works great on USB mode.

The microphone is responsive and clear, but don't confuse yourself about the USB connection. Just because the mic has USB out does NOT mean it's a USB microphone. This microphone requires drivers to work, and hence it won't work on systems you can't install drivers on, eg. the Xbox and other various electronics. It may seem minor, but it's half of what I bought this mic for. Other than that, it's a great mic, but it's silly that something so simple needs drivers.

I use this mic for podcasting, and I am very pleased with the quality for a $40 microphone. I run the USB output straight into my Apple MacBook Air MD224LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) (with linein, soundflower and audacity so I can record Skype calls using the mic). It's completely plug and play with the Mac. If you speak at a normal conversational level, the levels may seem a bit low, but there is just about zero noise, so you can amplify it fearlessly and get fine results. Speaking with more of a stage voice or singing into it will results in higher levels if you want.

My only complaints are minor: the desk stand that comes with it is a little cheesy and light weight, so I can't mount my pop filter to it, and you definitely need a pop filter. You may want to get your own desk stand. Also, the blue LED light stays on even when you have the microphone switched off. Would that the LED changed color or went off when the switch was off.

Samsung HMX-F80 Flash Memory HD Digital Video Camc

I purchased this camcorder to upgrade my old standard def mini DV camcorder. Picture quality is decent and the 52x optical zoom is very nice. I returned this camcorder because the autofocus was just too indecisive when videotaping my sons flag football games. It was constantly refocusing and this is worse when zooming. Color reproduction is below average and it really struggles to deal with all shades of red. I ended up buying the Samsung H300 which you can find for about $50 more. It can shoot in 1080i, 720p or even standard definition and is better in every way.

My local wall-mart was selling this at a deal of $150.00, just a little below standard price. It seemed like a decent deal, and I was in desperate need for a good camcorder.

The zoom is excellent, however it does take a few moments to focus. The focus quality lags a bit, but once steadied the image is crystal. I haven't had any problems with the color red. The still photos are better then my digital camera.

I haven't had the opportunity to test it out on my Television yet, but I plan to.

One of the things I did dislike while purchasing this camera, is it didn't tell you what format it recorded in. I searched the entire how to do manual before purchasing. In case you were wondering, it records in MP4, which is perfect for the project I'm working on.

Overall great quality. It's very light. It can zoom very well (oh optical zoom, how I love your clarity). It records on SD (make sure you get class ten for best quality). The controls are also very simple.

This camcorder does not have any light, so no midnight adventures for me, and no it cannot record in the dark.

This is LR, the bunny who lives beside my driveway. This was WITHOUT anti-shake enabled (OBviously!), which I have since enabled and it is PRETTY darn good. As soon as LR reappears and I have camera in hand I will take another clip WITH anti-shake and post it for comparison.

Overall, this is a pretty good value. Its performance is better than expected, FAR better than the samsung Dual View camera I had that almost turned me against Samsung. The size is nice, it has a decent pic as long as its bright enough, and the anti-shake and a few other "me too" features on this cam are much better than comparable features I have used on competitors equipment.

I take a lot of still pics, and for that reason really was looking for a camera that also took at least 720p (actually PREFERABLY 720p) video as well, but every one I tried had timer limits on how long they could record video. I want to be able to film until the card fills up or the battery dies (which, incidentally, seems also better than I expected). This does the job.

You cant expect miracles for $200, but its better than anything else I have seen in this price range. If you arent ready to drop $400 on a Canon, then this is probably the best next step down for the money. Four stars. Faith in Samsung renewed!

I didn't purchase this camera for any particular purpose. I just wanted something decent that I could use to capture life's random moments. After over a month of use, here are my pros and cons:

PROS

The camera is simple to set up and use. I was recording video within 5 minutes of opening the box.

It is super compact and looks nice.

Price is great.

CONS

Video quality is decent, but is no better (and probably worse) than most modern smart phone cameras. If you are looking for really great video, this camera isn't for you. Also, the still picture feature is worthless.

The auto focus feature is annoying. It takes a few seconds for the focus to adjust any time you move the camera, so unless you are recording one thing sitting still, the picture is constantly going from blurry to focused.

The 52x optical zoom sounds cool, but the camera needs to be perfectly still to fully utilize it. If you are holding the camera, zooming any more than halfway makes the picture shake so much that the video is unwatchable. You definitely need to have the camera on a tripod or some sort of stationary surface if you want to use full zoom. Supposedly, the camera has an anti-shake feature, but I notice no difference with anti-shake turned on.

The battery life is terrible. I can only get about 30-45 minutes of recording in before the battery dies.

CONCLUSION

If the auto focus feature was smoother, the anti-shake feature actually worked, and the battery life was better, this would be a 4-5 star camera. As it stands, however, I am disappointed with my purchase. I hate the saying "You get what you pay for", but in this case, its true. Its a cheap camera that operates like a cheap camera. I would recommend buying something else.

I can't say I have ever had an issue w/ any Samsung product I have purchased. My big screen TV, Blue-ray player, Phone, components in my PC, etc., all Samsung, all have worked as expected. Plus they have stood up to the test of time. So, I did not hesitate much when I checked out this Camcorder. I did worry since it was priced so low, something had to be wrong.

PROS:

*Works exactly as described. Nothing too fancy, I am sure there are better w/ more features, but can't gripe about any shortcomings I did not pay for.

*Very intuitive. I barely glanced at the Manual, and I was still up and running in no time.

*The on-board software made it easy to transfer video to my PC, again with out guessing or running in to problems.

*Video quality is good. Probably not outstanding, but decent enough, with sharp images and natural color.

CONS:

*Zoom is all but rendered useless after it hits about mid-way point. Even with image stabilizer enacted, there is just too much shake to shoot video that wont make you seasick. Keeping zoom at or below mid-point keeps things steady, and I found that range to be fine for most occasions anyways.

*It would be nice if it auto-focused a bit smoother, tho it was still acceptable to me.

*The on-board software works well. However, any decent Photo Studio software will be a better choice in creating a good home movie. That was what I had expected anyways, so in my opinion, this technically is only a "CON" if the built in software is all you have to work with.

Bottom Line: A very recommended purchase at this price point.

I have this attached to my key chain. It's quite small, and has replaced the USB thumb drive I use to carry. I leave an extra 2GB microSD card (class 2) in it at all the time. It works perfectly fine with the 8GB Kensington microSD card (class 6) in my phone. For whatever reason, file transfers are much faster through this card reader than through a USB cable and my phone via ActiveSync. Not sure if this is the smallest card reader for microSD cards, but it's small enough for me.

Some details:

The plastic cover/sled slides over the card reader.

The top of the card reader, and the very end of the USB port are exposed when the reader is stowed in the case.

The cover is unaffected if a card is in the reader.

As long as the string is intact, the cover and the reader won't be separated.

This card reader is sold under a lot of brand names.

The microSD card can be a bit of a pain to remove.

The string is easily replaceable if broken, worn, etc.

The pictures look great, but their product actually only suitable for the dollar store. Amazon should let all these factories sell their crap to US customers....

great watch, the night vision is not that good its not like the night vision displayed on the box

although it does not really matter , the night vision is good in close range , it has like a purple glow

as if a light is coming out of the watch but you cannot see with your eye.... the quality of day recording is great,

although it only records in 20 minute intervals , you can probably make 8 20 minute videos before the battery wastes

in turn i recommend a 16 or 8 gb one, there is a 32gb but for that one is better off using it as a usb for file transfers. the downside of it is that its confusing to know that its turned off or on.

I have purchased other video watches, and this one by far has the quality build, and stealthness needed to made it useful. I purchased this watch and was hesitant at the time because of all the bad reviews. I can assure you that this watch will do exactly what it says it will do. The night vision puts a purple glow on the video, where it does make easier to view night time video. The only thing I don't like is, I cant fix the time to read correctly. This system is pretty slick. If you know your way around networks, DDNS, IP forwarding, IP ports etc., you will not have a problem to set it up. The instructions that come with the system probably assumes that it will be setup by professional. I had to fiddle couple evenings with it until I was able to set it to work with LAN and stream remotely to my Samsung Galaxy S2. I liked that all the software comes on the included CD, even the apps to all kinds of smartphones. The 4 cameras included with the system are beginner class and have very limited range at night. For the price they are fine, but if you want to have good quality video, consider spending some $$ and add good cameras. If you consider to buy this system, don't forget the hard drive. I bought Seagate Barracuda 1TB (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005T3GRNW/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00), works great with the DVR.

It was easy to install and even though I used better cable because, I had to run it out and around the house it was still easy. Took maybe 4 hours to get it all set up and working with all the features.

First of all, with Harmon/Kardon how can you go wrong! When I first pulled this sturdy unit out of the box, plugged it in, and watched as the CDR-2's classy display light up I knew I had purchased a beautiful, higher-end piece of equipment! The users-manual is easy to read and understand, with several different recording scenarios explained. For my first recording I copied an entire CD in DIGITAL, using the 2X DUB feature. The CDR-2 performed flawlessly and made a perfect copy, keeping in mind that the CD I copied was somewhat new and scratch/dirt free. I have yet to explore it's other features, such as it's DUAL-PLAY mode; playing 2 CD's simultaneously, which will be helpful to me as a recording musician. It has many options for recording outside sources digitally (and analog) with it's COAXIAL and OPTICAL in/out ports. I've purchased and returned a "lower-end" recorder before and was extremely disappointed. The Harmon/Kardon CDR-2 is one solid piece of technology in my book.

This is truly a wonderful CD recorder. It is very easy to use, and it produces awesome sound. I have had 2 discs get messed up; I'm not sure if that is the CDR-2's fault, or the disc. Anyway, it was just one song-and the original was old. Beware though, if you want to mix and match songs, it takes as long as all the songs put together. Just because it can record at 4x doesn't mean it will record everything at 4x. Only if you are recording a whole cd (say to give to somebody, or copying theirs) will it dub at 4x. When mixing, it goes at 1x, the speed of the song. This isn't a bad thing, no other recorder lets you go any faster. It's a good recorder and one that will do almost anything you ask it to. Enjoy.

I've been in the market for a digital recorder, specifically a CD recorder for over a year. I initially was set to buy a Philips dual deck recorder, but luckily I didn't have the money together yet. Also, I wasn't too hot about it not having a traditional input level knob (instead it has "incremental"-type buttons). So when I heard by chance about the Harman Kardon, I was intrigued. 24-bit, 96khz convertors, 4x dub speed, great sound, ease of use. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it has no overload indicator (I, too, use it for my own, and client, recordings). This thing is a god send, and is one of the best investments I've ever made.

The Harmon Kardon CDR2 lives up to its reputation in terms of music quality. I also found it easy to set up and could easily record off both CD as well as audio cassettes. For those who have a large analog collection that they wish to digitize (as I do) I suggest that you buy one blank CD-RW disc also. You can then assemble a selection on this CD-RW and then zap it on to a (less expensive) CD-R disc. The CD-RW allows you to correct your mistakes (which are likely to happen when you are transcribing cassettes). The two features that I would like to see (but missing) are 1) multiple CD capability on the play side (if you are making a personal collection, the chances are you will be recording from several CDs), and 2)An option to finalize automatically. The other disappointment was that you could not use the 4x speed feature when recording a selection of tracks. If these annoyances dont bother you, I would highly recommend this deck. My rating would be 4 1/2 stars.

Since I've had this machine only a couple of days, I should probably have waited before writing the review, but I noticed a couple of things in previous reviews that called for comment. If I could take off a half star for the instructions, I would, but the machine itself is fabulous. It indeed plays CDs so they sound better than on "ordinary" CD players. I used to be skeptical of claims that some CD players were better than others, figuring they were all basically the same, but this one is clearly more "musical" than the others I've owned. The copies I've made are identical to the originals, and I found them easy to make. The understated design is very classy. Now, as to my criticisms about the instruction manual: It is well-written, but omits certain critical information. For example, I was not clear on how to make a compilation from different disks. The instructions made it seem as if you had to pre-program your selections to do so, but I didn't see how you could do this with more than one source disk. Therefore, I plunged right in, recording one track at a time from various disks, and it turned out fine. My other issue was that the instructions say (as does a previous reviewer) that you can record up to 20 tracks on a disk. The Beatles compilation I was making only came to 50 minutes or so after 20 songs, so I experimented to see what would happen if I tried to put another on. It worked, so I was up to 21 with no problem. Anyway, I probably have a lot to learn about recording CDs, and if anyone who read the instructions more carefully than I finds that my questions were covered there, I welcome your corrections. For prospective buyers, I would not let my criticisms deter you from ordering the CDR-2, because I am very happy with it and only regret waiting to buy it.

This is one of the smallest full featured Hi8 camcorders I

have used, yet seems robust. I like the 20x optical zoom

and the option to use very high (990x) digital zoom. A remote is a feature I miss for TV viewing and transfer. Buy a larger battery.

Recently, my old TR81 (first Hi8) from Sony brokethe AF did not work any more. Of course the new Sony Hi8 338 is light years ahead of my almost 15 years old camcorder. The Hi8 standard still produces very good picture quality for the price. The new HD quality camcorders are $2000+. For me I will stick with the Hi8 until the HD prices come down and when I get a HD TV as well. This is a great value camcorder for taking family moments.

Samsung SDE-3001 4 Channel DVR Security and Surveillance Kit

Overall, I have to say that the setup and installation of this system was very easy. The 500GB hard drive stores many days of footage, even at the highest quality/continuous recording mode. The user interface takes a little while to be comfortable. Some of the terminology used on the screens and in the user manual could use a bit more explanation. For instance, they don't explain what "spot-out" means and setting motion detection areas took a while to find and configure properly. Use the attached USB mouse because using the remote to configure this unit will drive you absolutely frustrated. I suggest not setting the sensitivity to 8(High Sensitivity) because the infrared night vision LEDs attract flying insects and you will have constant events being triggered, unless the camera will be inside. Over all, I give this a 4-star rating only because the camera mounts are not the greatest design. They have a screw to attach into the back top or bottom of the camera, but the tightening nut doesn't tighten down without a lot of fiddling with. The RJ45 connectors on the end of the camera wire (about 9 inches) are a female RJ45 port and a bit bulky to conceal but still better than running a RG58/59 coax and separate power lines. The cameras are powered over the standard outdoor rated CAT5e UTP Ethernet cables (included). If you want to have tidy installation, a box of RJ45 connectors and a cheap RJ45 connector crimping tool is a must. Tie-wraps and hammer-in cable clamps are also a good idea for a neat job. I wondered if these cameras would get covered with snow in the winter months, but they seem to get slightly warm while operating, enough to melt any snow or ice that sticks to them. The night vision on these cameras projects IR at least 50 feet in the center of the viewing field. Try not to mount it too close to soffit, eaves or backside of the fascia boards or the cameras will try to adjust to the IR reflecting off of the structure, leaving the important areas very dark. Hope this is helpful.

This is the 2nd system I bought. The first one was sold through Amazon not by Amazon. I could not get the power to come on and Samsung tech suggested I return it (not much help). I had already installed the cameras and cables very painstakingly and professionally looking. I couldn't just return a part I had to return it all. I did get the required authorization and returned it. This system sold by Amazon (exactly the same) gives me the option of returning a single defective part. It cost about 10.00-15.00 more but worth it should there be a problem. I was unable to install it for about a month due to other projects and work, but just finished installing it today. I am happy to report that the power did come on and it works. The paperwork that comes with this unit is not written with much explaination. I highly suggest installing the CD manual and going off of it. I am still in the process of setting up the remote access to my smart phone, but so far so good with everything else. ALSO I have yet to have it installed through the night so I can't say how well the cameras work in the dark. They are supposed to be very good night vision cameras which is one reason I selected this system over other cheaper systems. I can tell you the daylight look is very good!

Where do I start. Had the system up for 2 months and had a light rain one night before this past Christmas and poof......one camera out.Had to contact Samsung and get an R.M.A for a return and I had to pay shipping.Watched the video playback of when it went out and it was under an eve too during the little bit of rain it received. When I pulled the connector apart and looked at it, it was burned up inside and smelled like pure fried up electronics which made me think that this could maybe burn the house down in a rainy situation.

Then last night our vehicle was broken into in which i have a camera 15 feet away aimed at both vehicles and guess what.....We couldn't make out a face,the clothes,the shoes,the hat ect of the perp on playback. Worst night recording I have ever seen.Looks like you have 50 sheets of screen door material in front of the camera when veiwing the recording and that's after 2 hours of trying to find the best settings in the system menu.

600.00 dollars down the drain and i can't return it.During the day it's fantastic but all of the thievery and crimes happen 99% at night. Very Very Dissappointed. Once again 600.00 with an extended warranty and 5 hours of nut breaking installation hanging off of a ladder.Listen to me now and believe me later....pass on this system if you need decent night recording and need these cameras in all weather situations.

This system is a snap to install considering other alternatives in the market which require a seperate ethernet cable for signal and power. The picture quality is 2/5. It says it's weather proof but after 2 days of rain in Southern California I lost the only camera that was installed outdoors. I wouldn't recomend this system.
