15 ft Premium Digital Optical Toslink Cable

15 ft Premium Digital Optical Toslink Cablethis cable has now been installed for several months and never given any problems. it was cheap, but does what it needs to do.

Bought a Samsung 3D tv last year from HH GREGG...... And a Yamaha digital receiver for my home theater system. Of course you need cables for these items, at only $30. each. Spent over $100. For 3 cables, including this one.... Returned them next day when I found them all on Amazon for less than $20. So I had to wait a few days to hook it up.... Cables work fine! Thanks Amazon, as always.

Lexar 2GB Platinum II Memory Stick PRO Duo MSDP2GB-40-664

Lexar 2GB Platinum II Memory Stick PRO Duo MSDP2GB-40-664If you have Sony products, you're stuck with Sony propriatary memory stick formats. Thankfully, you're not stuck with only Sony branded memory.

Lexar makes top of the line memory in reliability and speed. I use Lexar for MS Duo Pro, CF, and SDHC. Never had any problems and the speed of transfer makes my digital cameras recover faster between pictures.

I was initially hesitant because i've never heard of this brand before, but the cheap price and the fairly large memory storage capability drew me in. Besides, if i'm not satisfied I could always return it to Amazon.

I put it to use with my Sony Cybershot as soon as I got it in the mail and I was quite happy. I took about fifty pictures and about 10 minutes of video, and of course, I still had lots of room left. When I uploaded everything into my computer, it only took a few minutes.

With the Lexar, i'll never need to go back to my 128mb sony memory card. I'm so glad I diverged from the brand name route and bought this product, it was worth it.

The product was a steal but I think I just lucked out on the deal. The memory stick is fine. I'm using on my PSP without any issues. I've dumped movies, pics, mp3's, etc without any incident. A very nice item. A good option aside from Sony's expensive line.

VideoSecu Day Night 540TVL Outdoor Night Vision CCTV Home Security Camera Weatherproof Vandal proof

VideoSecu Day Night 540TVL Outdoor Night Vision CCTV Home Security Camera Weatherproof Vandal proof Built-in 1/3' Sony CCD with 3.5-8mm Varifocal Lens 36 Infrared LEDs with Camera Power Supply and Security Warning Decal 1ZHThis camera has a great image and is much better than the cheaper camera that came in the kit I bought. The only issues I have with this camera is that it requires you to manually focus, zoom and move position.

I bought this camera to add to my outside cameras and general daytime performance is fine though not much different than the 420TVL. The added features over the 420TVL, including zoom, focus, more IR LEDs, aren't worth the extra cost to me. First, zoom is so small a range that it isn't worthwhile. I have the camera looking at my driveway and there was very little difference in the captured frame with zoom at either end of its range. Second, focus only is needed if you change the zoom setting. Finally the addd IR LEDs may help if the area is totally dark and there isn't anything nearby in frame but I leave the garage lights on and there is a car parked about 15' away. The car causes a hazy flair in the middle of the display... Unless you are aiming this camera at an empty area in near total darkness at night, stick with the 420TVL.

Spy Clock Security Hidden DVR Camera Surveillance Motion Detector DV CCTV Camcorder Digital LCD Dis

Spy Clock Security Hidden DVR Camera Surveillance Motion Detector DV CCTV Camcorder Digital LCD Display + Remote USAProduct is not congruent with the specification of the product

The specifications of this product are not the same quality that was promoted. The instructions are very difficult to follow; apparently the instructions were translated to English from somebody who does not speak English well. Like a computer translation type. Even if you are smart enough to figure it out, it still not working to its specifications. The video and the sound of this product are very poor. The view is very narrow, cannot see the entire 10x10 bedroom. More disappointed now that I see the price dropped to only $22.99. I paid $42.49 a few days ago. Despite of the price I do not want this product even for free. This is one of the few times I have to say something negative from so many products I had ordered with Amazon over the year. Nobody is perfect.

This camera is dissappointing in that it does not accurately record date and time and does not record on motion but on 3 miniute increments. so you end up having to watch unwanted videos (up to 50) to find the one that actually shows what you need. I was able to catch some videos of someone in the act of going through my belongings.

SONY DVP-NC615/B 5-Disc DVD Changer

SONY DVP-NC615/B 5-Disc DVD Changer
  • Supports the playback of DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD+RW / CD-R / CD-RW / MP3 media
  • Dynamic Tilt Compensation
  • Block Noise Reduction
  • SmoothScan Mode
  • SmoothSlow Mode

I got the NC615 (not from Amazon) in July 2002 primarily to check for DVD-R playability and quality control (I'm a video producer and burn DVDs for clients). I had a total of about 3 hours use on the player in the first 8 months I owned it. Then I bought Sopranos DVD sets and started using it more regularly.

It was then I noticed it would stall, freeze, and then cut off periodically. At first it was so infrequent that I tried to attribute it to disc abnormalities and let it go.

Dealing with defective products is such an incredible hassle . . . expensive shipping, multiple calls and many, MANY minutes on tech support hold lines, pulling out entertainment centers and dealing with a mass of wires and dust in a small spaces, etc. Also, since the measly 90 day labor warranty (by far much more important than parts) had long passed, I knew I'd likely be footing 90% of any repair bill at that point anyway, so I succumbed to the denial that the player was at fault.

I could only delude myself a few months longer as the problem got worse and worse, the player eventually freezing and shutting off 5-10 times during any viewing session longer than 20 minutes. Of course by this time, the parts warranty had also conveniently expired.

But since I've dropped over $20,000 on professional Sony video equipment in recent years, I thought Sony customer service just MIGHT want to keep me happy, so I phoned them. I was wrong. I was met with absolute indifference, abruptness, and a refusal to consider the individual circumstances which made it a travesty of fairness for me to have to pay for the repair of this product, which cost well over $200 at the time I purchased it.

To make matters even comically worse, my sister was given the same player for Christmas of 2002, and hers started to exhibit similar problems late in 2003, also conveniently well after the labor warranty had expired and just as the parts warranty was expiring.

Two out of two identical products with the same defects in one family is hard to attribute to sheer bad luck. This was very likely a lemon product, an inherently defective player with an abnormally short useful life that Sony is refusing to stand behind, even for a loyal customer that's given them many thousands of dollars in business. Because of this unforgivable customer service breach, I will never buy another Sony consumer electronics product and will certainly try to avoid purchase of as many of their pro products as possible.

I advise others to STEAR CLEAR of this player and all those in direct succession to it, which is likely to be anything with a model number like NC6##.

I'll admit, I'm demanding of my MP3 devices. I purchased this product with the desire to get a good DVD that would allow me to play my MP3 CD's and remove my 5 disc CD player from my entertainment center. The DVD is great. It plays nasty DVD's from the library and doesn't skip. Very nice.

The down side is the audio features. I have a Sony portable MP3 player and it has all the features I need and use. Unfortunately that spoiled me. I expected similar features and friendly interface from this player. If you're into MP3 CD's here are some warnings.

when it says it will randomize your MP3/CD/DVD discs, it won't go into the actual tunes on the CD. An MP3 CD or a DVD is considered one track and will want to play start to finish.

The on screen MP3 selection is a neat start but do you really want to go to the TV to select an individual song? Selecting a folder is logical but more often I would like to pick a bunch and set it running. Most importantly, you can't really get around without the TV on.

The interface is ugly and far from intuitive. There is no randomize button on the face so if you'd like to put 5 audio Cd's in and randomize you have to turn on the TV and navigate through several steps. And that setting is not persistant so plan on going there often if your a randomize fan like me.

With the lousy Audio features, I still use my portable hooked up to the stereo. And with the ugly Audio CD features, I still need my 5-disc CD. And I really see no reason for 5 slots of DVD so I pretty much wasted $80 by not going with the one disc model. If you're an MP3 fan, go run it at a store before you commit. You might find you're as irritated with the features as I was.

The one good thing about this product is this. When the motor that spins the discs burned out, I was able to buy the identical product with a different problem off of ebay for $20 and replace the motor. So many people have a problem with this product that you can easily pick up an extra one for spare parts.....sad.

I tried to just buy the motor, but Sony has some deal with the manufacturer so they won't sell this $2 motor to anyone but them.

Want SONY DVP-NC615/B 5-Disc DVD Changer Discount?

I've always recommended and purchased Sony brand. I didn't buy mine at Amazon.com, but I'm here 10 months later to buy a replacement. It stopped reading DVDs yesterday. I removed the cover expecting to find the sensor needed cleaning. What I found was that the disc motor isn't spinning it up to speed any more. Reading the other reviews, it's clear this isn't an isolated incident.

Perhaps I was just lucky, but I have had absolutely zero issues with this DVD player. The only complaint I have is that the disc numbers on the tray are black just like the tray, so it is hard to read. One of these days, I will highlight the numbers with a white paint pen...

GGI CT2DG Tape Cassette to MP3 PC USB Converter

GGI CT2DG Tape Cassette to MP3 PC USB ConverterVery disappointed! When I received it, it did not work...at all. Even with batteries. A ridiculous waste of money. Getting sent right back to the factory in China where it was made. I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe, hey, let me waste 30 bucks!

I was given a copy of a tape I made of a family event in 1970. This you made a digital conversion, reduced the tape noise, and brought back old memories. Simple to use. Likely not durable but well worth the price.

At first I wondered whether this might be a poor quality piece of equipment because of its low price. But it was easy to use, made a good recording of the cassette tape I wanted to preserve, and the included software has many good features to fine tune your final recording. The construction seems solid enough, as if it is built to last. Great deal for only $20.

This is garbage. The autoreverse malfunctioned as soon as I started using it and plays a couple of seconds on one side, switches to the other side, plays a couple of seconds and then cuts off. It feels cheap, looks cheap, and is a complete waste of money.

Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System

Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System
  • 120 watts x 6 audio/video receiver with MP3-friendly DVD player and full 6.1-channel speaker system
  • 120-watt powered subwoofer; 5-disc DVD changer with progressive-scan video output for high-resolution picture on compatible TVs
  • Decodes DTS ES, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II for enveloping surround sound from any source
  • 2 component-, 3 composite-video/analog audio inputs accommodate a satellite receiver, VCR, cable box, and digital video recorder
  • Includes UniCommander remote control and all requisite speaker cabling; FM/AM tuner with 30 station presets (20 FM, 10 AM)

Received the Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System on Tuesday, and spent a couple of days/evenings setting it up. The tricky part was mounting the speakers, but that can be solved with purchasing the correct wall mounts first. Then it was off to the store again to get the right component cables and optical connections.

The box includes a standard quality set of connections, but I recommend an immediate cable and stereo wire upgrade. Of course, this adds to the overall purchase price, but its worth the extra investment and the homework necessary to get what you need for a great picture and awesome sound from the start.

Again, the Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System is an excellent buy. The separate five DVD/CD changer is a convenient plus too. And forget negatives about Sony in the review previous to this one. This home theater system goes far beyond expectations and performance with the power necessary to back it up (when compared to other brands and models straight from the box). Sony still delivers quality products. Just be patient when a little more assembly seems to be required. Again, it is worth the time and the added effort to put the system together right the first time.

Buy Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System Now

Just purchased one this weekend. The system overall is really nice. It is easy to setup and the sound is really good. The only problem I have is that it isn't as loud as I would have liked. I put it in a very large room and the sound gets lost with all the space. If you have a large room i would recommend at least a 1000watt system. But even in the large room it sounds pretty good. I'm not disappointed in my purchase.

Read Best Reviews of Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System Here

I purchased this system before Christmas 2005. Attention audiophiles. Ignore this system. I used to be an audiophile when I could hear well. I am a retired electronics engineer, and I know this stuff.

I'll take it a section at a time and then treat the entire system.

Speakers: They are adequate for a small room at moderate sound levels. You will not feel the room shake with super bass. The subwoofer is adequate for the seven speaker setup. Remember folks, you paid less than 600 bucks for this. It delivers a pretty good bang for the buck. Bose (or similar) speakers would improve the system a lot. They are very efficient and well engineered. They are not cheap!

Amplifer: It is rated at about 160 watts at 10% total harmonic distortion (THD). That is very high for today's solid state amplifiers. It doesn't matter though because the speaker distortion at that power level would be much higher. Remember folks, that power is split up between six speakers. The sub woofer has its own amplifier.

Preamp: Well, those things are sort of like 8-track tapes today, history. Everything is digitally processed now. Play with the various autio settings. Play with the menus. You won't find a treble or bass knob. Everything (almost) is menu driven.

Inputs: These include video and audio inputs. You can name the inputs so they appear on the digital box display when you select one (front panel or with the remote control), or you can leave them at their default settings.

Outputs: Many of them, but not enough for me. I would like to see more "line" outputs from each major subsystem. Note: This system is "cheap" because Sony sells a lot of them. If you want high end gear, buy it. Sony sells it too. It's costly not because of the electronics inside. That is a done deal now and relatively cheap. The high end stuff is pricy because of advanced engineering and limited production. Sony has to pay its bills just like the rest of us. That means that they must make a profit too!

The manual: An abomination! I wrote to Sony (not a hate letter). They told me they were taking my suggestions under advisement. Gee that made me feel warm and fuzzy all over!

Writing an instruction manual for complex consumer electronics is a difficult task. Sony must assume some things first. Focus groups at Sony target an audience for the product. In the case of this system, their audience (customer base) is the average person who only wants plug and play. Make it easy for me! Cranky engineers like me should not buy this gear.

In my love letter to Sony I begged them to give me a data port on the digital box. Give me some free software for my laptop. Get rid of the manual! Use computer documentation like we see now for every gizmo or piece of software we put into our computers. Practically everybody can use a PC these days. Give me a Windows program with a graphical representation of the two boxes and the speakers if necessary. In that graphic allow me to specify some kind of periperal gizmo that I want to hook to the digital box. If it's Sony gizmo of recent vintage, that should make it easier.

As I define my gizmos and attempt to hook them up, warn me if I have done something wrong. Offer suggestions. That is so easy folks! It's called "intelligent" software. Considering the number of Sony Home Theater systems sold, the software development cost is nothing. Okay, add ten bucks to the price and really advertise it! I'll buy it!

The integrated DVD gizmo: As far as I have determined this box will play every CD/DVD that has ever been created and many that are still on the drawing board. Well, I'm old! I used to use drawing boards before my boss put a computer on my desk! My life has not been the same since. Oh, the good old days.

Remote contols: A major pain in the butt. Sony has attemped to help the consumer with "control consols" to relieve the remote control congestion. I must have 25 of them. It seem now that most all remotes attempt to control everything. Well, what about my ceiling fan? Just kidding.

I'm trying to "engineer" an audio/video system that my wife can use and enjoy. She can really drive that Wega 32 inch TV. It's two years old now and technically fit for only being a boat anchor. I wonder if it floats.

To sum up, I think this system is okay for ordinary people. I am not ordinary. I am very weird.

Want Sony HT-6800DP 5-Disc Progressive Scan Home Theater System Discount?

Very economical and a good value for the price. Assembly is simple, and instructions cover the basics. Too bad my ex-wife took the system with her when she left.

I must say I have had a very, very bad experience with this paticular home theater system and Sony. I can't actually rate the system because I have yet to use it. I received this system the end of October and after spending several hours putting it together was only able to play two DVD's. After that I couldn't get a picture. I then spent several hours over the phone with their help desk and after we exhausted every possible solution I was told to send it back, which I did. When I finally got it back I hooked it up and it still did not work again had to spend considerable time exhausting possible solutions on the phone with the help desk. I was asked to send it back yet again and also told I would not be getting a new DVD player but a returned or refurbished one. I find this unacceptable and due to the fact I have had to waste my time and money I would NEVER purchase any Sony product from here on out.

Sony SLV-D350P DVD / VCR Combo

Sony SLV-D350P DVD / VCR Combo
  • DVD/VCR combo unit with WEGA styling, progressive-scan DVD output, and 1-month, 8-event VCR programming
  • Plays video-mode DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW playback, plus MP3 CD, JPEG CD, and quasi-S-VHS playback (at VHS resolution)
  • DVD bookmarking, resume, and picture zoom
  • 4-head VCR offers commercial skip, 19-micron heads for clear images from EP recordings
  • Includes multibrand remote control that operates most TVs

I bought this unit to replace my stand alone Sony DVD player, I picked this one since it had optical out and I could reuse my optical audio cable. This is not a component style device. The volume button on the remote does not control the stereo, it does the television instead. My Television does not have an optical input so I went into the menu and adjusted the outputs. Still no way to control the audio on the stereo. It does however have some neat features. You can lock the dvd door to keep kids out, but not the VCR door. You can zoom in on the picture up to 4X's on DVD's. The old Sony DVD remote works so I can watch movies and control the stereo's volume. You can watch DVD's and VHS through the RF making this a simple plug and play device.

You cannot use both the DVD and VCR function together.

I've had this unit for a little over a month and it completely stopped reading DVDs. It still reads audio CDs and the VCR is decent. I'd steer clear of this combo.

This is an excellent product for the price. I own one. The DVD and CD player is good. I send the sound to my home theater receiver and it sounds wonderful. The VHS portion plays better than my other stand-alone SONY VCR. What I really liked is that this unit has Quasi-S Playback so I can play my S-VHS tapes. The picture is good. What I found amazing was that the EP record mode (6 hour) looked better than the SP (2 hour). I played some EP recordings made on this unit on my parents' JVC and the picture was outstanding. My only complaint with this unit is that the remote is too small and too "busy" with all the buttons very close together. If you want to watch DVDs, record and play VHS tapes without going beyond that I would highly recomend this SONY unit.

Want Sony SLV-D350P DVD / VCR Combo Discount?

This player had everything I was looking for...progressive scan/component output, CD-R & R/W support, MP3 support, and the selling point...advertised DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW support. I make a lot of my own DVDs (not pirated movies) and wanted to make sure the new player could read them. Problem is that it only reads them for a few minutes, then you get digital breakup and the thing eventually stops playing! I've returned the product twice hoping I just had a bum machine no luck! I'm convinced it's a design problem. Never had a problem with production DVDs, just consumer-created ones. If you play a lot of personally recorded DVDs, stay away from this thing. You'll be greatly disappointed.

For the record, the failing DVDs were verified against a 6-month old Toshiba portable (with the same advertised features as the Sony) and a 7-yr old Panasonic set-top (that doesn't even claim to support DVD-Rs!) and all of the discs worked perfectly. Go figure...

This item LOOKS great and has the SONY name...but its performance is definitely lacking. Upon engaging the machine, a buzz is heard. Watching a DVD is best. Only a slight buzz and the picture quality is adequate. But inject a VHS tape and the machine's buzz goes into overdrive. It is EXTREMELY loud and it will buzz along with the movie like an added track of unnecessary white noise.

I'm still looking for a good replacement. I was ready to send this back the day after I bought it, but held onto it and will probably donate it someday soon.

I found it increasingly difficult and next to impossible to find these DV tapes for the camera I use in any store.

It is a great camera but it is an older model. The stores that did carry the tapes either did not have enough or they were priced extremely high.

I was pleased to find the tapes online at a reasonable price and although I was worried they might not arrive in time, they arrived two days before the event I was preparing to video. I typically use four of them for each event of workshops for music teachers so buying in bulk was a great savings.

Philips DVP3050V/37 DVD/VCR Combo

Philips DVP3050V/37 DVD/VCR Combo
  • Hi Fi VCR, DVD/VCR combi
  • Plays, DVD, CD, MP3, Pic CD
  • Progressive Scan

I just purchased this VCR/DVD combo at the local Wal-Mart (sorry Amazon, I had gift cards to spend, otherwise I would have purchased it here). =)

It was extremely easy to set up, and it played the first DVD flawlessly. I noticed in another review that someone complained about the DVD tray. I did not find it anymore flimsy than other DVD players in the same price range.

My only wish is that it did have an eject button on the remote. It does seem odd that Philips didn't include that feature.

Overall, I am pleased and highly recommend buying this product. If you're looking for a ton of bells and whistles and something not encased in plastic, then this isn't the product for you. But it is a decent product to watch the occasional movie, whether it be on DVD or VHS.

I bought this for my elderly mother not a whiz at electronics but she knows how to insert a disc and hit play. However, it seems the machine doesn't know how to scan a disc and play. We would get various screen messages, "insert a disc," "faulty disc," "loading," but the thing wouldn't kick in. We'd eject and clean the disc. We'd eject and and re-load the disc. We'd turn it off and on again; "insert a disc," "faulty disc," "loading." Sometimes, after who knows which combination, Oh! it would play! Pretty darn frustrating for an elderly lady and her daughter so I swapped it out for my Samsung 4600. Now she is happily watching Christmas with Andre Rieu and I am listening to jet aircraft approching as I try to watch a VHS cassett. (it's pretty loud)

Want Philips DVP3050V/37 DVD/VCR Combo Discount?

I bought this DVD in January 2006 and have not regretted to this day. There is the issue of the eject button being absent but then again, when you eject via remote control, you still have to get up to get the DVD out of the player so maybe it is not so necessary to have an eject button. I've had no problems with this player playing my home made DVDs unlike others. It is a bit difficult to set up but besides that it is a great purchase.

Can't say much for the video or sound quality, menu options, or anything really, since this thing broke after 2 minutes of watching Monsters, Inc. on DVD. Playback just froze, the thing stopped recognizing that DVDs were in unless you turned the thing off and then back on again, and after another minute it wouldn't even start playing the thing at all, just whirred a lot.

So, dud.

Samsung Digimax A50 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom

Samsung Digimax A50 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomThis camera is a steal. The best feature by far is the 640X480, 30fps video mode. Honestly you do not need a video camera if you've got this baby. The video quality is very good and the compression allows for over 1!!! hour of recording with a gig SD card. The picture quality is also superb. There is no conventional viewfinder so the LARGE LCD must be used all the time which cuts battery life not a problem if you get the super-long lasting energizer lithium batteries. All in all I'm very satisfied!!!

A friend of mine had the A50 and after seeing it in action I decided to buy one myself. It takes great photos, it's light, and it was very easy to install and setup. A smart buy for someone looking to spend under $200 for a digital camera.

Buy Samsung Digimax A50 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Now

I got this camera for Christmas, I've only had it a few days, and already I'm absolutely loving it! The picture is amazing, the screen is huge and I couldn't believe how clear the picture is. It's so crisp. And I thought that it was going to be a heavy clunky camera, but not at all! It's extremely light and fit's perfect in a pocket or purse. The voice playback on movies is easy to hear and is also very clear. It doesn't come with a memory card, so make sure you buy one when you buy the camera.

The only thing I was concerned about was the battery life. I actually came across this page looking for more information on how to sustain better battery life. Apparently from the user's feedback before mine I need to invest in the lithium AA batteries to make sure my pictures won't be interrupted by dead batteries. I went through a whole pack of AA's in only two days, and not that many pictures. I guess the regular old batteries just won't do. So I'm going to try that and see how it works. All in all, this is a great camera, and I am very happy with it!

(2x) Authentic P&C Camera DSLR pistol grip handle with (1x) 11" Friction Magic Arm

(2x) Authentic P&C Camera DSLR pistol grip handle with 11' Friction Magic ArmThe design of the pistol grips is well balanced and solid grip rubber jacketed. The articulating arm is well equipped with widgets that should fit what you have in mind. The one draw back is the ball joint swivel seems a little loosey goosey. I'm still new to it and in fairness, this may not actually be an operational problem. It's the only con.

I am using this with my GoPro 2 in combination with the Neewer 160 LED Light. It works great so far.

It was weird as when i received the package, there was an ebay sellers receipt inside and no documentation, no instructions for use, etc. Just the 3 components -everything was wrapped and in perfect condition, it just didn't feel 'official'.

Otherwise, a great purchase...

Western Digital WDTV Full HD Media Player - Recertified

Western Digital WDTV Full HD Media Player - Recertified
  • Full HD 1080p video playback
  • Supports video formats: MPEG 1/2/4, WMV9, AVI (MPEG4, Xvid, AVC); H.264, MKV, MOV (MPEG4, H.264)
  • Image: JPEG, GIF, TIF/TIFF, BMP, PNG
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV/PCM/LPCM, AAC, FLAC, Dolby Digital, AIF/AIFF, MKA
  • USB Port, HDMI Port and Composite Output. (Brown Box, Product is Recertified)

This product has been abandoned by it's maker! This despite having fixable software/firmware issues such as Audio not in sync with the video on certain file formats including mp4. It may sound like a small issue, but it makes watching a movie/tv show unbearable. Another is that you can not play DTS (Surround sound) on mkv (best format for 720p or better) files. These could have all been fixed via firmware update. This product would easily warrant 5 stars if it ended its support life-cycle with a firmware that did what the product states it can do. Other issues include connected hard drives do not sleep when devise is powered down, remaining (continually) spinning. You can read about these and all the other issues at Western Digital's own web site, under the forums section (community.wdc.c0m). I would think twice about buying any WD media product due to their tenancy to abandon support for older products whenever they release a new product. I gave it an extra star for it's outstanding picture quality, in both standard and HD format. A great product if they had only followed through.

This product shipped without any of the supporting documentation or software that would normally accompany it. I plugged it in, it worked great. However, without the literature or software I could not access some of the functions or convert any videos I had.

I went to the manufacturers website and I had to go through a long process that involved completing forms, numerous phone calls, and being on hold for extended periods just so that I could get what should have been in the box. During this annoying rigmarole I discovered that, since the product was no longer covered by manufacturer warranty (mind you this was brand new and sold by the actual manufacturer through Amazon.com), I could not obtain the missing items, nor could I warranty the product if it failed.

Much phone calling, emailing, and arguing later I was able to obtain the missing products and get my warranty extended. Needless to say, none of that should have been necessary. I am very pleased with the product (so far), but these other issues have left a very sour taste in my mouth and made me somewhat distrustful of Western Digital.

What kind of manufacturer holds a product on their own shelves past the stamped warranty date, then sells it on-line THEMSELVES, and then won't honor their own policy that says the warranty can be updated if the date of purchase can be demonstrated.

Pros

1.Video resolution is great

2.It has two pen drive inputs to read from

3.It has HDMI

Cons

1.From all the MKV I've tested so far (about 10) I was just able to play one with audio. Audio is not working even after upgrading the firmware.

2.No matter how many level of folders you have for your pics, videos and music, you'll see everything in one list

If you have any idea on how to make the audio work for all mkvs I'd appreciate your feedback.

Want Western Digital WDTV Full HD Media Player - Recertified Discount?

This WDTV HD media player is buggy, has major audio/video sync issues. the manual says its compatible with various file types, it will play them, but with problems, either video/sync issues, or the unability to ff or rw certain file types like .mp4 and .Avi. check out the forums on their website about the issue, there are a lot of complaints about this. I was really excited when I bought the player, only to be very disapointed after purchasing it. im going to buy another PS3 just to play my video/audio files, a lot more $$ but at least its very reliable.

Like most people, I bought this media player to connect my external HD to play photos and movies without having to connect my PC or HD recorder to my AV system. What a poor piece of electronics. It is not just painfully slow, it's down right archaic. It can't handle even a 100 GB HD without a fit. Switching between pictures, which on any system anywhere should be a fraction of a second, takes minimally 5 seconds. So if you can set aside an entire afternoon to look at, say, 200 pictures, this is the system for you. The picture is fine when it finally loads. Best to pay a little more for the newer version since it's clear WD is abandoning this POS.

Sharx Security VIPcella-IR SCNC2700W Wifi Wireless b/g/n IP network camera with MicroSD DVR and Tru

Sharx Security VIPcella-IR SCNC2700W Wifi Wireless b/g/n IP network camera with MicroSD DVR and True Day/Night visionI work at home. My wife and I are usually downstairs, and our two little girls sleep upstairs. And we often want to see how they're doing when they're upstairs:

1. Are they asleep or awake? We wonder this (1) shortly after we put them down for naps or for bed, (2) periodically while they are supposed to be sleeping, and (3) when we anticipate them waking up.

2. Are they OK? We may wonder this if we hear a strange noise or hear them crying or simply want to check on them for peace of mind--whether they're playing or supposed to be sleeping.

We used to creep upstairs as silently as we could and crack open a bedroom door to check on them, but often this would wake them up.

So I researched baby monitors and security cameras to see if I could find one that meets five criteria:

1. Wireless. We wanted to mount it in our children's rooms, where there are no computers, modems, or routers.

2. Streaming. We wanted to easily stream the video on a computer (Mac or PC), iPhone (or other web-enabled smartphone), iPod Touch, and iPad--whether connected to the Internet via our home WiFi or another way when away from home.

3. Day/Night. We wanted a clear picture regardless of the lighting in the room.

4. Audio. We wanted the option to hear as well as see what's happening.

5. Secure. We wanted the video to be password-protected.

We decided to get a Sharx Security Camera, which meets all five criteria, and we love it. We use it constantly day and night. We recently added a second one.

The camera has other features beyond the above criteria (e.g., DVR recording, motion detection, timed emails, FTP uploads). Installation is not difficult if you follow the instructions, and the email customer service is prompt and helpful (info@sharxsecurity.com).

I bought this camera (white) due to user reviews. My main requirement was that the ip camera has to have its own DVR. The Sharx has that and on top of that user reviews raved about the Sharx customer support. Cust support was very responsive and complete but the camera did take me about an hour to set up as my ip forwarding was not working correctly but Sharx did figured out that my firmware needed upgrading. Once done it worked as advertised. The IR did not worked so well for me because I had to turn it off as my camera has to monitor our drive way through a window. This caused my night videos to be black and white but I understand that this is a limitation with other cameras as well. The range is pretty good as it was still recording from one end of the house to the second floor. The night video is sometime choppy...but the recording was pretty smooth.

One thing I wanted to point out is that the micro SD capacity was not mention on the Sharx web site so I purchased a 32GB micro SD for longer recording at the same time as I ordered the Sharx from Amazon but when the camera arrived the Sharx manual mentioned that it was limited to 16GB. I formatted the 32GB SD and stuck it into the camera and it shows available size as 32GB so it worked after all...

We own 3 Sharx cameras. If we need any more, we will likely stick with Sharx.

Setup:

Setting up ANY ip camera can be complicated -your wifi router, Internet service provider, and general computer situation is very specific to you. If you live in an apartment building that provides Internet service you may have firewalls or other security measures in place that require additional setup steps for ANY ip camera to work.

The Sharx camera is easy to set up on your own if you are an intermediate level computer user. If you are not, the Sharx folks will literally talk you through setup step by step until yours is working. They are helpful and patient.

iPhone iPad Android compatible:

I have no idea why the other reviewer said that this doesn't work well with iOS devices. It is simply not true. It's an IP camera you need to get an app for viewing IP camera videos. I am watching my kids on my iPhone with ease right now using the NetcamViewer app. Plug in the IP address and port the camera is on and specify its a Sharx and it works no problem.

Nighttime viewing:

This gives a great night time feed. You do need to take care on camera placement, however. The camera has a dim red ring of lights at night that are easily reflected off of some high gloss or mirrored surfaces. These reflections degrade camera performance. With proper placement, night vision is great. This is better than your regular baby video monitor because you aren't restricted by the strength of the cameras signal.

Record function:

You can monitor what's going on with a live feed. Or you can go back and look at what's on the miniSD card. This function really gives you peace of mind. We set ours on a loop of XX hours. Want to know what percentage of time the nanny was on her phone yesterday. You can check! We did a 'dry run' to make sure we had set up everything properly. I would recommend such testing to anyone who needs to be able to go back and review. ( I certainly would if I was counting on this monitoring my business, or in my case my kids!) Our record function let us review what really happened when our daughter had an accident under the Nanny's care.

Clarity:

The lens on this camera is a significant step up from previous Sharx models. ( we also own the 2606 and the 2607 in addition to this one.) This one covers an area that is 40' long, and it is high enough resolution to really see what is going on at the very end. It is sharp in both day and night viewing. I do wish there was a way to force the night time viewing on in low light conditions, though.

Customer service:

After 2 years, our 2606 model stopped working. This was beyond warranty, but the Sharx folks let us trade up for this version for just a bit more that the price difference between the two.

Purchased several of these to replace Panasonic network cameras in my set up mainly for the night vision capabilities, including one as a baby monitor. The IR LEDs are a nice feature. The included instructions are very detailed, well-written and helpful. I'd encourage buyers to read thoroughly. Even though I didn't need it for setting things up, email support is prompt. I was inquiring about advanced features. Overall, I'm very impressed with the build quality, instructions, and support. Features such as the multi-window motion detection are also a nice touch.

For the benefit of Mac users, they do include instructions specific for AirPort and Time Capsule setups. My setup was on a Mac with a TIme Capsule and a Buffalo NAS for recording alarms. Connecting to a DDNS provider for remote viewing was also easy. I mostly access the cameras through an iPhone app (Netcamviewer) and otherwise through Firefox or Safari with no problems. Having Internet Explorer is nice if you want to have the ability to view the motion detection thresholds being triggered, but you can fine tune the settings in any browser. If using IE, use the 32-bit version (not 64-bit) it's mentioned in the manual, but I'd skipped over it.

I do miss the pan-tilt features of the Panasonic, more so because it allows for easier installation (you can point and adjust after the fact). Most applications that I have don't require the pan-tilt afterwards during normal operation. The Sharx has a slimmer profile, although I wish the included mounting bracket was smaller. It's a sturdy bracket, but just relatively large. Panasonic cameras also have an IR sensor in addition to motion detection, which proves more flexibility for triggering.

I ordered 3 of these bad boys and so far the only problem I've had is one of the cameras had to be rebooted manually (unplug). The setup was pretty easy. I was able to get these configured and running within two hours which included installing DD-WRT firmware on a new TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N Gigabit Router instead of using a 2wire wireless gateway. When I ordered these I didn't realize it supported Wireless N, so that's a bonus on my part. I'm also able to use Google Chrome to view and hear. I installed the quicktime and activex plugin for chrome, and I disabled the 3D acceleration in Quicktime. Just click on "primary stream", allow permission, and it works. If you are on a Mac using Safari, just click on "primary stream". Should start playing without having to install plugins.

For my DNS i used "No IP". They give you 3 free hosts, which is something I couldn't see on DynDNS. All I saw was options to pay :(

I've only had these for 4 days and will continue to update as time goes by, but so far so good. I haven't messed with the quality much, but right now I'm using 16GB memory card and at best quality i'm getting 3 days of recording, but I will be dropping the quality to something less intensive. Should give me at least a couple of weeks based on my experience with other cameras.

Again, great cameras and setup was as easy as I've seen. The manual book is very easy to follow incase you get stuck.

I hope these continue to run and impress as time passes by. Oh, and I use an iPhone as my mobile device and picture quality looks good. Love that you can increase and decrease window size just like you would any other website.

Full Time Intelli Universal Charger (Lithium & AA/AAA)

Full Time Intelli Universal ChargerFrom time to time, you encounter a product that manifest such a thoughtful design, you don't mind spent twice the price on it and still wondering why I did not find it earlier. this universal charger is one of them. I have used A LOT universal changer, and I bring 1 DSLR 1 digital camcorder, cell phones, smartphone .. on trip. and I wish to have one charger for them all. and this gives you that. features I like

1. charge ANY Li-Ion batteries -3.7v ones and 7.2v ones. it has movable AND rotatable pins, so that you can use with any batteries despite where and what type of connectors the batteries have. It also self-detect the voltage and pos/neg pin so truely plug-and-charge

2. it also charges two AA batteries

3. while charging battery, its usb connector can output 5v to charge your cell-phone concurrently

4. without an outlet, you can put two AA batteries in it, and use it use as an usb power source

it however does lack a bit of features to leave me wishing for

1. it does not have ac converter built in, and needs a separate one

2. it does not charge AAA directly, but through AAA-AA adapter to "package" AAA batteries as AA

3. still abit of larger than I would hope for. it is by no means large, just wish it is not as thick as it is

by any means, it is the best universal charger that I have used and seen and highly recommend it.

This item was simple to use and charges great.Very compact. Great to charge phone batteries when your kids lose their chargers or reverse use with old batteries from phones u don't use anymore. works as it says. propt delivery. Thought it could be lesser price, but I like it.
