Toshiba SD-K220U VCR VHS DVD Player Combo Dual Deck Hi-Fi Player Silver SD-K220U VHS Cassette Recor

Toshiba SD-K220U VCR VHS DVD Player Combo Dual Deck Hi-Fi Player Silver SD-K220U VHS Cassette Recorder
  • Switch from watching a DVD or VHS in one Second Single Button Press Instant Switch!
  • Very Easy & Simple to Use!!
  • Excellent Picture and Sound Quality
  • TOTAL OF 14 Component Inputs & Outputs; Coaxial Component Audio Video Etc.
  • VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER, Dolby Digital DTS, Surround Features!

I Really REALLY Like this Model. It Is Very Simple and Easy to use.

I Like the Simple to use read and easy to understand LED display in the orange Color. Bright Bold Display Letters.

You can Easily swtch from DVD to VHS at the push of a button as they both share the same controls.

I Lost my remote a long time ago with this unit and Never really used it in the first place But It can be utilized to the fullest without the remote.

REcording VHS IS Easy.

The Unit is Very Fast and Responsive as far as opening a button presses and overall It "reacts" Quick.

I have read some bad reviews on this but I totally disagree.. Maybe only people who had bad luck with them dcided to write reviews but this is a DURABLE UNIT.. as the Kids Have dropped it Twice.. Stuck mcdonalds Ketchup packets inside (I had to dig them out) and IT still plays great.. IT Does Scratch Very Easily on the top.

I Would say that is the ONLY CON of this, The Upper Top of the player is Very susceptible to scratching and denting.. But That doesnt matter to me how it looks It has lasted through alot of abuse and still works.

EVEN MY MOTHER CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THIS.. It really is great.. I bought the Silver Model that is SD-K220 But actually reads SD-K220U on the rear sticker, maybe this was an Upgrade.. and they made something better about them..?

BOTTOM LINE THIS THING IS STRONG, EASY TO USE, LOADS OF INPUTS AND OUTPUTS, and DOES THE JOB, AND HAS LASTED!

WOULD BUY ANOTHER IN a Second.. MY last Magnavox only last about 6months This is going on over a 1 1/12 of Abuse...lol

My Toshiba SD-K220U stopped working. Even while it worked, I was surprised of it's low quality.

Well, I got this product as a gift, and it did work well for awhile. One day, about 2 months after I got it, I plugged the thing in and it just wouldn't turn on. I should've sent it back. What can I say, I was busy, I didn't have a receipt, I really wasn't thinking about it. I never dropped the thing, and I even opened it up to see if it was a busted fuse or something. Now I'm sure the warranty is expired. Sad thing is is that I can't even find any info about it on Toshiba's website, it's as if the thing doesn't exist to them.

So it's a neat concept, DVD/VCR, but buyer beware, it might fail after a bit. Maybe I'm a victim of planned obsolescence gone awry.

VIZIO 3D Blu-ray player with Wireless Internet Apps, VBR333
  • The ultimate movie experience with Full HD Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and VIZIO Internet Apps
  • Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with Internet Apps for access to Netflix, VUDU HD movies, Pandora internet radio, and more
  • Enjoy up to 7.1 channels of 100% lossless digital audio output via HDMI with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio technology
  • Plays Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray Discs for full, high-definition 3D and 1080p video playback
  • Upscales your existing DVD library to 1080p quality; plays audio CDs as well as MP3s/JPEGs via USB for added versatility

I see a lot of bad ratings about this Blu-Ray player. The only thing bad about this player is the remote control. The complaint you've heard about it being clunky is true. As far as the Blu-Ray player is concerned it can't be any better. The quality and speed is quick and precise. The complaints about the menu being confusing is just not so. It is on par with the sony and samsung players I have had. The quality and video streaming is quick and accurate. It has no problems holding the HD steam. The Roku Box I have does seem a tad quicker in locking on to the movie and starting the stream. But once the Vizio locks on I have no problems watching standard or HD movies on netflix. This player is definitely the best player for under $200.00. The base is deeper and the quality is cleaner compared to the Samsung BDP-1500 I had in the past. If you can put up with a clunky remote this player is definitely excellent quality. Highly recommended.

Buy VIZIO 3D Blu-ray player with Wireless Internet Apps, VBR333 Now

Bought this at Wallyworld on sale yesterday cheaper than Amazon offered which is a first for me! We brought it home, took all of about 4 minutes from box to start-up. It found our router easily and logged on securely within a minute or two. Updated the firmware and came up with additional TV aps that were not on it out of the box. Pandora, VUDU and Netflix stream wonderfully, and our router is in a room 30+ feet away and through three walls. This unit even programmed the weather App to our location on it's own, which I still have not figured out how it did that. The Blu-ray picture is awesome on our older JVC 30" CRT HDTV Model AV-30w777, and the Apps are a bonus. We look forward to upgrading to a Vizio LED 3D TV eventually and this will be the first piece in place.

We just returned a Magnavox with WIFI Built in Model#: MBP5130/F7 because it was horrible with WIFI reception and took forever to spin up. The Vizio makes that one look like it came from the Flinstone's era.

While yes the Vizio remote is a bit clunky as others have said, it works just fine for my big hands, and having to press hard on the buttons is no big deal, especially when we were programming the wireless WIFI authenification code. The front panel operating controls are touch sensitive vice buttons, which is not only pretty cool but leaves less buttons to wear out in the future. Overall a wonderful product, great picture and excellent deal when you can find one! Great Job Vizio!!!

Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB MP3 Player (Black)

Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB MP3 Player
  • Plays your MP3, WMA, secure WMA and Audible audio file formats
  • FM tuner with 40 preset channels
  • Up to 15 hours of play time with internal rechargeable battery
  • Voice recording with built-in microphone

About this reviewer: I listen to Lossless music (Flac) and tons of books (200/year) a lot. I use this SanDisk 8GB Clip player about 20 hours a week.

PRO:

1. Sound quality. Not only does this support MP3, OGG, FLAC (the lossless format of choice) WMV, secure WMA, podscasts, & Audible files, it plays them with perfection. Now this is objective, not a "whatever ***I*** buy and review sounds better than what you have" crap. The sound quality is scientifically top notch. I don't know if the URL I put in this review will get killed, but go to the reviews section on cnet.com or Google the article entitled "Audiophile MP3 players, by the numbers."

Let me summarize the article: they found out that Sandisk *did* put an expensive sound processor in this one (apparently unlike the other Sandisks) and used actual scientific hardware measuring frequency response deviation, and signal to noise ratios, etc. the SanDisk Clip beat out everything that Creative, Apple (iPod), Insignia, Sony, Microsoft (Zune) makes.

reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-9968448-49.html

I know it's an odd thing to talk about lossy (Mp3s) quality, but for the sound quality peeps, you will have zero complaints here.

2. Flash based: Meaning no HDD spinning around thousands of times a minute, movable parts=easily breakable or they wear down. Meaning you can also jog with it. I'm from the computer world, and us cats know that all HDD's fail, period. *Especially* if you're moving it all the time. We, who want something that lasts, universally stick to solid state; ie FLASH based mp3 players.

3. Connectivity: No stupid proprietary cable. Standard Mini-USB cable, I'm sure most people have at least a half dozen from various cameras, etc.

4. Physical Size: This thing is small, there are various pictures here, but this one is about the height of an AA Battery and about 3/4 as thick, one inch wide. This is great for jogging, it's weightless. Clip it anywhere without any huge bulge or weight. It weighs less than an ounce.

5. Compatibility. You DO NOT have to use some weird 3rd party DRM CRAP software like iTunes or Windows Media crap (like you do with Ipod's or IRivers) just drag, drop & GO! If you want some of your friends' songs, you don't have to load up itunes, then some hack, or your mp3 player's proprietary software cluttering up your friends computer to get his or her songs. I recall a conversation I had with a friend trying to get the songs of another mp3 player, "FREAK, it took me 40 minutes to find the right software that world work to get the songs off" -and that's not some newbie. All the software to use this mp3 player is on every computer (with a USB port) and operating system on earth. Also, I didn't install any of the included software. No need.

6. Non music Storage: You plug it in you not only drop any of your mp3s/FLACs on it, you can throw some pictures, some huge files, documents, anything, and use it just like a thumb drive. And still listen to your music, it just skips the non-audio files, etc.

7. Mic. The mic is great for recording class, or conversations; just throw it on your desk or shirt pocket and there you go.

8. Fast listen mode KILLER AWESOME if you listen to books, you can turn it to fast mode which speeds up the audio a bit. This means you can listen to books a good bit faster without it sounding like chipmunks. There is only one mode though, (also a slower mode too) but it's so cool if you want to listen to books faster. Your brain can easily understand, so why not save yourself 1/3 of the time -eh? Awesomeness.

9. Radio: And you can record the radio. Built-in FM tuner with 40 presets Awesome.

10. USB 2.0, it transfers mp3s at a rate of 5.67MB/second per my own rough stopwatch method. Mathematically, this would take about 23 minutes to fill up the thing full.

Have you noticed all of creative labs MP3 players also claim to have USB 2.0 but really transfer at speeds at 1.1 speeds. The Creative flash based stuff transfers at less than 500K/sec, usually 120K-400K averaging at 230K. 230K!!! Do you realize this is slower than download speeds at broadband? 4.83 hours to fill up a 4GB Creative Labs mp3 player? forget that.

11. Memory Size, 8GB (They make a 1/2/4GB version too) this holds:

Books at 64Kbit/sec/mono equals about 266 (~11 days non stop) hours of books.

MP3's @ 128kbits/44.1/Stereo about 128 hours (5.33 days non stop) of music (maybe +/1,900 4 min songs).

Flac's (Lossless) ~21 hours (non-stop) ~315 songs or 20-25 Full CD Albums.

That's quite a lot of listening before you need to get to a computer again. 8GB is plenty for music on the go.

12. Screen, the screen is great, mono color, has some graphics, I don't need nor want some huge stupid color screen sucking down my battery. Which is cool because this MP3 Player does go blank after a minute of inactivity, which is PERFECT! Just what one wants. Touch a button again, it comes back up.

13. Yeah it has other features I don't use much, WMA playback, Audible playback support, graphic equalizer, nifty navigation scroll, blah, blah, blah.

14. Updating firmware is super easy, (and you may have to to get FLAC support) just load the Sandisk auto updater, it figures out which mp3 player you have plugged in, checks for firmware, any updates, then updates them and then restarts. Super easy.

Up in the Air: (Pro or Con depending on how you look at it)

-Comes in cool colors, silver & black, but it is a fingerprint magnet as most electronics with a shiny screen are now-a-days. Finally an mp3 that isn't in "I'm-a-lemming" stupid trendy "ipod white". Other colors are probably coming.

-Proprietary battery. It'll do 15-20 hours of books, take in mind books are less "demanding" on a a battery. But you really can't have anything this small and use any standard battery for any usable time. But it may be a con or a pro. I just don't like the fact I can never easily replace this one and we all know how integrated batteries after a few years start to slowly lose their charge. The Pro is that you can use any old mini-USB wall/car charger that if you have bought a few cell phones in the past few years, you'll have one kicking around your junk drawer somewhere.

Con:

-No Bookmark feature. I listen to books for 20 hours a week. This would be nice, as I could have used it a few times. This is just a software item, Sandisk program it up!

I have no comment on the included earbuds. I'm 6'6" and figure that's why no earbuds bundled in mp3 players did anything but hurt my ears and/or seemed to fall out randomly due to poor fit and rotation of the earth. I have my own headphones as most people who are serious listeners do. Earphones are a matter of personal physiology and audio-snob preference. :)

I don't hate ipods, they are really sessy, but they are just not for me. I could list reasons why I can't like ipods but they are just too freaking expensive for too few bells and whistles. I mean, if you look at my "pro" list, the ipod shuffle is small and flash based, but that's it. I don't want to use some crap software, crap dock/cable, expensive battery, short battery life span, can't store anything else, why should I pay twice as much more for an ipod, when it doesn't even get close to HALF the features?

So, I will give it a 9.5/10. But in reality, nothing else touches it. Nothing has the sound quality, space, battery life, size, & FLAC support on the market for any price.

Buy Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB MP3 Player (Black) Now

Hands down the best mp3 device for the money out there.

With 8 gigs at roughly 80 bucks, how can you not get this? I agree with the other reviewer. This device is an audiophiles dream. For me, personally, this is also a dream for Audiobook lovers. For once, a device gets bookmarking perfect. Sansa really knocked it out of the park with this one. Plays Audible files perfectly, with bookmarking and chapters. Additionally, if you don't go through Audible or have your own Audiobooks, just drop the mp3's in the bookmark folder, and they are bookmarkable. I previously owned the e280, and it did not have bookmarking at all. With the help of Rockbox (), I was able to get bookmarks and a ton of added features, but even then, I was not happy with the bookmarking implementation. I am happy now with Sansa's own Firmware. Additionally, in the past, people like me would opt to install Rockbox because the original firmware was junk, or lacked something like bookmarking. This is the best bookmarking implementation I have seen aside from Apple's Ipod (which is pretty good in my opinion for Audible and m4b files). For once, I do not have to tinker with a device, although Rockbox should be portable to this device soon from what I hear. I think the firmware that comes with it does everything you need for such a small device, and does it awesome. I would recommend this to anyone, and since they are so cheap, have already bought several. I own the 8gb, the 4gb, and the 1gb. This is also the perfect workout device. If you are on the edge about getting something like the Shuffle for working out, skip it and get this. It has more features, more space, and has the clip that you can clip on to your shirt or wherever you want. The Shuffle does have a good build quality, but it is way overpriced, and it terms of features -this blows it out of the water. Like the shuffle, it is perfect for working out.

Pros:

For me -Top One -Very Workout Friendly, On The go, friendly.

For Me -Top one -Bookmarking feature.

I know I go on about this a lot, but for years and years and years, the device makers, aside from Apple's Ipod, never really put much attention into a good bookmarking feature. Even Sansa's e280 was complete garbage. For audiobook lovers, this was a critical feature, espescially if you have a large library from a site like Audible. Sansa got it right with this device.

(Note: The Old Rio Players had it from the start and did it well, but I think the company went bust and they are no longer being made ... I think.)

Supports Audible, Rhapsody, Overdrive, and I think a a couple of other services

Multiple file formats (mp3, flac, ogg, wav ... I think a couple others, but not sure?)

Built in Radio ... not that I use it a lot, but it is nice from time to time. One can also record songs from the radio and then copy them to the computer.

Built in recorder ... Don't use it often, but is great when my digital audio recorder runs low on battery or if I am in a bind.

Clip ... the clip allows you to clip it to a shirt or pants while working out or wherever

Sound Quality ... Awesome. Literally. I am not an audiophile, so I am not an expert, but this is a good sounding player

Screen ... yes, it has a screen, and when you compare it to its chief rival, the Apple Shuffle, this is a big plus

Space ... 8 gigs for such a tiny thing ... what are you waiting for?

Adapater ... mini USB ... no strange connector.

Charger ... usb or a usb outlet charger. I just use my GPS charger, works fine.

MTP or MSC support ... big plus -you can you a program like Rhapsody or just drag and drop like a Flash drive. I hate Itunes, although I live with it for my Ipod 120 gb, because I haven't seen anything as good, aside from this, at bookmarking. This is great if your on the go, deal with a mac at work, a PC at home, and other computers at friends or girlfriends houses. Plug it in anywhere.

Support ... Sansa has thrown a lot of support and updates to this device, I'm guessing, due to its popularity. There are numerous software updates that fix problems with the device. You would think this would be a given for all devices, but for some makers it takes forever to update a critical problem.

Cons ...

Control ... pretty simple, but people with bigger fingers may find it a little more difficult

Build ... the build overall is good, and I have dropped mine a ton of times, and they are still kicking, but it does feel fragile. But what can you expect for so many features and such a lot price? I've handled the new Nano from Apple, and that is probably a lot more fragile than this.

No video, but really, is this a con? Who is a going to watch on such a small screen.

In sum, perfect workout device, or on the go device where you don't want bulk. Has all the features one could want for an on the go device and does them great.

Five stars.

Note: the USB cable that comes included isn't that great for some reason. Don't bother using it. Use a cable that you probably already have or get one for 5-10 bucks. In my experience, it seemed to have problems connecting sometimes, and then at other times, it wouldn't show up at all. Most likely you already have a spare one, but if not, most stores carry them now.

Note: I usually don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to provide a little bit more detail because this is such an awesome device and some of the questions I had when I first bought one were out there but not in as much detail as I would have hoped. So hopefully this is helpful. This review is coming from a person who primarily cares about audiobooks/podcasts/spoken word content. I care that my music sounds good, but it does not have to be perfect. This device sounds great to me.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)Sansa's 8GB Clip MP3 Player came out about a month ago, right after I bought several extra 4GB Sansa Clips during Black Friday's holiday sales. I already have two I still have and use from the many I have bought, many of which have been given as gifts. I knew that the larger size was coming out, but wasn't sure if I would pull the trigger based upon the list price. After all, about $30 to $40 more gets you an 8 GB Zune or Sansa Fuze. (I already have a Zune, but that's another story). Yet even though I couldn't really find this on sale, I ended up pulling the trigger near the list price anyway. Why? Because this guy is the best compact MP3 player that includes a voice recorder out there, and I have found that no matter what capacity player I buy I will always end up needing more space. All of the other great features are still here, and with this added capacity even the higher price isn't enough to deter me from adding this to my MP3 player family.

This is still one of my favorite MP3 designs. As far as I could tell, little of the basic design has been changed relative to the smaller capacity units. There are more color and size options now in the smaller capacity, though this black one is the only option in 8 GB that I have seen. While the product picture makes this black version look the same as the 1 GB black players, it is actually shinier akin to the silver version.

This unit will come down in price, as all the models do eventually. It's still a great value at any capacity. For quick music play-lists this is one of the better optinos, and for the voice recording feature I think this is still THE best option at least of the ones I own. The other added features, like a screen, FM Tuner, and more, make this compact player much more feature-rich than the similarly sized iPod Shuffle. The iPod Shuffle is a little bit more durable though, or at least it was till they got rid of the metal body. Still, the point is the same: even with the cons it's hard to argue against how great this player is.

With sizes for MP3 players growing, buying the largest size you can is probably a good option. You can definitely get better value looking at the smaller capacity 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB units, but this guy gives you a little more capacity to grow into. After all, these super compact players are not expandable. So you can try to get the biggest you can find, or be like me and just buy extras whenever they go on sale. Then keep one for recording, one for your workouts, one for commuting ... you get the picture.

Being able to drag and drop your music is a big convenience, and another strong plus in this player's favor. Check out the pros and cons.

PROS:

+ Nice new capacity gives you room to grow

+ Very Good combination of features, design and value

+ Decent sound quality for a small MP3 player

+ Nice capacity for a decent price

+ Very light-weight

+ FM tuner with 40 presets!!!

+ Voice recording

+ Nice design and color options

+ Nice format compatibility (MP3, DRM WMA, WMA, Audible, etc)

+ USB 1.1 and 2.0 connectivity

+ Can be used as a USB drive / mass storage

+ Can sync music with drag & drop or via software

+ Great 15 20 hour battery life is better than Creative Zen Stone Plus or iPod Shuffle

CONS

Newer shiny body does attract fingerprints and smudges more, so invest in a silicon cover

Slightly larger body than the 2nd and 3rd generation iPod shuffles

Some durability questions linger

Like most of these mini-players, the capacity is not expandable

More low cost options and competing feature rich players make it less of a slam dunk

Still priced near the list price, so less of a value than the smaller capacity units

Included buds will not be enough for most people (almost not worth mentioning, but just be aware of it)

The new Sandisk Sansa Clip may not be as durable as the iPod shuffle, but it still has the advantages of the iPod shuffle with some of the features and benefits of other MP3 player brands. Unlike the Sansa Fuze which has a screen for video, this guy is really meant for audio only. The trade-off is really in the smaller size and integrated clip. The Fuze, iPod Nano, and Zune are all pretty small too and include a video feature. So if you think you really need video, you will want to look to some of those units.

The Clip is a little bigger than the iPod shuffle, but not by much. It has a great feel and a nicer clip. It's perfect for a starter MP3, workout unit, or gift. And now with the added capacity, you can really use this for recording meetings and other such things more than the prior models.

The rechargable battery appears to have been improved a little. It always seemed better than the Creative Zen Stone Plus. The earbuds are passable for beginners but most people will replace them. Check out the skull-candy's for a cheap alternative

I definitely recommend the larger size, especially if you can get it on sale. For those needing more space, Sony, iPod and Zune units are available at 16 GB and up. All of those units have higher price tags.

You may even want to check out the SanDisk Sansa View 16 GB MP3 Player.

CONCLUSION

The trade-offs between size and features are getting more difficult. For those who use the recording and need a smaller size, this deserves consideration. Even for music only this is still compelling, but you may want to widen your search to include those other models as prices fall. This is a great starter unit for yourself or to give as a gift. Hopefully the new batches have improved durability. The same great features are all here that will keep this design around for a while.

Enjoy!

Want Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB MP3 Player (Black) Discount?

I needed a new MP3 player. I had originally used a 1st gen iPod Shuffle, but really disliked not having a screen to help navigate the device. I decided against another iPod because I dislike how Apple doesn't support older iPod accessories whenever they come out with a new model. So my search began for my first Windows Media Player MP3 device.

I looked at multiple devices, including the Creative Zen, Sony Walkmans, and even the Sansa Fuze. All are excellent players and deserving of hard consideration if you want a non-Apple player. The Creatives and Walkman boast a reputation for excellent audio quality out of the box, as well as intuitive GUI's. And the Fuze is a lot of player for not a lot of money.

However, I chose the 8gb Clip. The player works perfectly as an exercise companion: it's lightweight, holds quite a few songs, and sports surprising audio depth with the right aftermarket headphones (I bought Koss KE295 noise cancellation earbuds, and they sound wonderful).

I decided against the Creative products upon reading that their music-loading software is difficult to use. With the Clip, its either Windows Media Player 11, or even simpler, dragging and dropping through Windows Explorer. The only reason I nixed the Fuze was that I didn't think I'd ever want to watch videos on a portable device (one big point in the Fuze's favor, however, is the port for a MicroSD card, making it a tough choice for me).

Anyways, the Clip's GUI is a blue and yellow OLED, and quite bright in low light levels. It's a bit small, but still legible and reasonably attractive. Getting to your music, FM radio, microphone, etc., is easy and intuitive. If you ever get into some weird submenu, simply hit the 'Home' button to return to the main screen. Great feature. The clip on back is removable, and has a strong spring hinge. Clipped to a waistband, it feels like nothing at all, which is great when wearing lightweight exercise shorts. The dedicated volume rocker on the side of the player is quite handy as well.

The Sansa Clip can be summed up for me in one word: surprising. The amount of features you get for the price point is quite impressive. The unit seems fairly sturdy overall, BUT this is my second 8gb Clip. I returned the first to the big box store I bought it from when I discovered that both the power and volume buttons on either side of the unit were quite loose and rattled with little motion. Fearing a hardware failure, I got a new one and it seems to be much tighter than the first.

I still wonder if my choosing the Clip over the Fuze was a prudent one; if the Clip had expandable memory than there would be no contest. But all in all, this is a fairly inexpensive model that gives you quite a few options to fool around with. Its a solid choice for joggers, bikers, anybody who exercises. And its so small and discreet, it would never be in the way tucked in a pant's pocket for everyday use. Plus the sound quality cannot be overemphasized. Check one out and see what the Clip can do for you.

I bought my Sansa Clip in November 2008 and enjoyed it until it died forever just a couple of days ago. As far as how well it worked for me, I'd want to give it a 4 or maybe even a 5 star rating, but the amount of frustration I went through when it periodically froze and deleted all of my songs kind of killed that. I frequently got an error message on the screen (by frequently, I mean every few months or so) saying that I need to free 30mb of space. The only way I was able to access the player after that was to hook it up to the computer and reformat it which took forever, and then of course, I had to reload all the songs. Sometimes it would just freeze and delete everything without the error message, and I could format it through the player (without hooking it up to the computer) so at least it was courtious SOMETIMES (when it wanted to be a jerk).

Just recently, it became unresponsive, freezing up at the start screen and the computer won't even register that something is plugged into it. After scanning the Sansa FAQ and forums, it has become clear that my clip is dead forever. It was a good, long haul and I'm going to miss it... even though I ended up smashing it with a crowbar after ordering a new one (different brand). Would I recomend it? Yes, as a matter of fact I would. 7.5gb (the actual amount you can use) is a lot of space and the price isn't bad. I'm guessing what happened to mine is the battery finally wore out (even rechargeables die eventually). A way to help extend the battery life is to NOT keep it plugged in too long. Just allow it to charge or load your music/audio books and then unplug it. I didn't do that. Now it's in pieces.

Intel Pocket PC Camera, CS-630

Intel Pocket PC Camera, CS-630I wasn't ready to take the leap and get a mega-pixel camera because of the cost and the fact that 90% of the time I would just shrink the pictures down to post on the web anyway.

For what it is, it's pretty good. It's a nice webcam for connecting directly to your PC. It's a convenient camera to carry around with you and take lots of reasonably good pictures. The software that comes with it is nice and works from within my image editing software so I can download, edit, and save very easily. The size is just right for slipping in a pocket and it's survived a number of minor drops intact. This is definitely not a high-end camera, but if you just want something to take pictures to post on the web and work as a direct-connect webcam it's a good deal. Battery life is good and it uses Alkaline batteries. I'd rather have the option of rechargable batteries charged via the USB cable, but that isn't available. The one thing that really bothers me is the button. It's kind of hard to push down and when it finally gives, it tends to jerk the camera a little. If I'm not careful to keep it steady, this results in a blurred shot.

Pros: Good battery life. Enough memory for 128 pictures. Adjustable focus for close-up objects. Shoots 10-second video clips away from PC. Shoots nice higher-res videos when connected to a PC. USB interface with slick software. Timer mode so you can set it down, click the button, and get into the shot

Cons: Cannot upgrade memory. No screen to view/delete pictures. Not Windows 2000 compatible a beta driver is available to download pictures, but it cannot clear pictures from the camera's memory! Video limited to low-res 10 second clips. Low-light pictures do not come out well and it doesn't have a flash. Can only adjust focus when it's connected to a computer

Keep your eye out for rebates. CompUSA recently had a MAJOR price break on these things.

My roommate and I bought this camera about six months ago, and it is one of the most-used and most-enjoyed items in our apartment. It doesn't use up any film, so we never think twice about grabbing the camera when we go somewhere with friends.

Though it has no flash or zoom capabilities, it takes large, clear pictures even when used portably. The video it takes when it is not connected to the computer is a bit lacking because it comes out so small, but it is still useful for some things -I took it on a roller coaster last week and videotaped the ride at 60 miles per hour!

As for the video taken while the camera is hooked up to the computer, it is sharp and good quality when there is plenty of natural light, but at night, even with all the lights on, it has a lot of trouble detecting motion and the video tends to be slow and choppy.

The cute little camera is very durable--we know because we have dropped it countless times and it has never malfunctioned. battery compartment does accidentally come open sometimes, causing the batteries to scatter all over the ground, but the pictures already taken still remain in its memory, so it is really more of a nuisance than a problem.

It comes with its own software which works well for organizing and editing the pictures, but its movie making software doesn't have many features, so it's better to use the movie maker that comes with Windows or a professional one. The pictures it takes come in .jpg format, and the videos come in .avi format, so they're perfectly compatible with other viewing and editing programs.

All things considered, we are very happy we have this little camera; I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to have fun with unlimited pictures and video, though those with concerns about very high-quality video might do better to seek out more expensive digital equipment.

Buy Intel Pocket PC Camera, CS-630 Now

best value for your money? probably. i've had it for about 3 months now and have not had any problems. the camera is advertised as being able to take 128 pictures at 640x480 but having have taken it on vacation, it took a good 165 before being full. the remote video at 320x240 is okay, light permitting, but for 129 bucks, i'm not really asking for all that much. attatched video and macro lens are REALLY impressive and the software is really consumer friendly. If people are having all of these problems with it, i'm assuming that they are running an OS that is not compatible (ie W2000). I'm running it on 98 and am having no problems whatsoever. Only drawbacks are that it has no flash and no remote audio, but if you know that going into it, its really not a dissapointment. Great pocket cam. Takes really good pictures and has a great supplementary software package.

I found the packaging for this camera very misleading. The "2 minutes" of video can only be used in 10-second clips. The video does not have sound. The quality of the video is less than expected (even for the price of the camera).

this camera is good for the price i paid. it serves both purposes reasonably well, though to get good picture quality we need to take pictures in bright light. no flash is a major disadvatage to this camera. software that comes with this is easy to install and easy to use. i could get 120 pictures of good quality out of this camera at a stretch. looks cute and fits easily in the pocket.

Esky C5900 H.264 IP Camera, Internet WiFi Wireless/Wired, Pan Tilt, 2-way audio, Build-in DVR, Moti

Esky C5900 H.264 IP Camera, Internet WiFi Wireless/Wired, Pan Tilt, 2-way audio, Build-in DVR, Motion triggered, IR cut, Mac/Windows/LinuxThe Esky 5900 has a lot of potential and software that kind of works.

Fine (not great) control features, good (not great) video and okay control software.

And the firmware is upgradable! Which is important to me because of the last problem with the 5900.

The biggest problem is you can't use it from the Internet. At least you can right up until the point someone who wants to pwn it takes it over.

From the Esky forum, a small list of security problems:

1: Port 23 is open for telnet with a login of root and no password

2: /mnt/config/login.cgi shows the administrators login and password

3: full busybox installed allowing you to do almost anything you want

4: /mnt/config/system.ini contains the entire configuration of the web setup, including the Wireless networks ssid login and password in the clear.

5: No way to change the root password as it is mounted read only.

6: /mnt/www is rw allowing anyone to modify the web pages since root has no pw.

7: without any authentication you can type http://webcamip/rebootme.htm and it will reboot the camera.

8: Same idea as 6, /mnt/www can store any file allowing it to host files for download without the need of a login/pw.

9: http://webcamip/status.htm does not require authentication

This is my second C5900 camera. I love that it takes a micro SD card (up to 32GB)which allows the camera to record continuously without the need for another device or computer. I can simply log on within Windows IE and watch any recordings that have occurred from any Windows internet enabled device. When on the road, I can watch live video via my Iphone or Android tablet. Plus, I have them set up to email me whenever either camera detects motion and the camera will also send a snapshot of what triggered the motion.

As my title suggests, this camera needs to be updated, both the firmware and embedded web UI to make it function correctly. Plus the latest firmware supposedly has closed the ability for hackers to get into your network. Please log onto Esky's users forum to read about this. The Esky support staff is pretty quick to reply to problems on the forum and offers useful advice.

I had purchased this 2 weeks ago. Was a bit of a struggle to set it up (I am an IT professional) mainly because manual is not easy to follow and software is bit weird to set up. But camera works as expected. Can access thru wifi and i have registered for dynamic dns service (free) which allows me to access it from outside of my wifi network. Comes with company ddns but i was not in favor of using Somalia's url (http://xxxx.ipcam.so). Can access via Android but with very limited control options. Only big issue i have found so far is that i can't upload images and video both to my FTP server when an alarm is triggered (motion detection). It only uploads images. I have to store video locally. H264 is a plus. Image quality is good with daylight and/or at night (8-10 feet). Overall it's good but leaves room for huge improvements especially on software side. Support never got back to my email queries, website is a mess (everything on the site is 'coming soon'!!

You will need to upgrade the firmware and also the web UI (interface) right off the bat. It's fairly easy to do, though the web UI is still odd and turns a lot of features off depending on your browser. Most controls only work on Internet Explorer, but if you want to view the videos on your SD Card, you have to use either Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Get used to it, because this is just the beginning of the inexplicable idiosyncrasies of this camera.

You'll almost need a Computer Science degree to get this camera set up. When you finally do get it working, your troubles only just begin. It saves the videos in a .h264 file type. I don't mean it saves them as mp4s which use the h264 codec. No. I mean the filetype is .h264, and won't play natively on QuickTime, Windows Media Player, MPEG Streamclip or VLC. In fact, that filetype isn't recognized on Windows or Mac OSX at all.

After hours and hours of trial and error (because the documentation with this camera is spotty and the forums aren't much better), luckily I found the files would play on MPlayer but not very well. As for Mac, no such luck. I had to use a random shareware video convertor to convert the files into a watchable format on Mac. Seriously, would it hurt the manufacturers to use a file format that's universally known such as mp4 or even avi? For this reason alone I'd recommend everyone to skip this camera. It's not worth the headache. Setup is difficult enough, but couple the file type fiasco and the fact that it will need to be restarted fairly often, I give this camera a big fat thumbs down.

Update: There is a way to view the videos in Internet Explorer. There's a little video playback icon at the bottom of the UI. It allows you to view and delete files from the IE browser. I missed it because the documentation on this camera is next to none. And because it's not well documented, I spent too long looking for workarounds for video playback and even bought a conversion software. So the one star stays.

This could be a great little camera, except that a couple of the main selling points don't work. I haven't been able to get the email or ftp alerts to work. These should both be no brainers, but no matter what I try, no joy.

Polaroid PRDVDPR100S DVD+R 4.7GB 120-Minute 16x Recordable DVD Disc, 100-Pack Spindle

Polaroid PRDVDPR100S DVD+R 4.7GB 120-Minute 16x Recordable DVD Disc, 100-Pack SpindleExcellent Product and Very Fast Shipping, Only problem with it is that the plastic packaging was torn up, and the dvd's were not all together.. About 1/4 of the dvd's were in the box.. I'd still purchase them anyway... No big deal, just a warning

I've had some problems with about 5 of these discs already and I've tried them on two separate burners. The product arrived on time and was secure and I can't detect any scratches on them but on the 5 discs that I'm referring to the video plays back in a chugging fashion and there is nothing wrong with the source files. I tried a different brand on two of those same files burned on the Polaroid brand and there were no problems. Sorry , but this is my first and last batch of Polaroid DVD's.

I've never had worse. About a third of these are defective. I thought it might be my PC so I tried the ones that didn't work with my PC on 4 other PCs and they failed on all. I've used many different brands and these are by far the worst. Save your money and go with a different brand.

It has been noted many times before and I will reiterate it again. The packaging is horrible and amateurish. I ordered a DVD with this product and it arrived with no bubble wrap and in the same huge box (2x bigger than the product). It is a miracle that the DVD was not smashed by the product. The shrink wrapping of the product was unraveling as I removed it from the box. I took pics of it but there is no way (that I see) to include them in this review (Hint for Amazon). To be clear though,. the actual blanks discs have not yet failed in defiance of the crude packing (another miracle).

The packaging is the only reason I did not give this product a 5 and the Product is the only reason I gave it a 4.

I will not buy any more blank discs from Amazon due strictly to the way they are packaged. I was lucky this time.

Q-See QT518-1 Professional 8-Channel H.264 Full D1 Recording Real-Time Surveillance DVR Pre-Install

Q-See QT518-1 Professional 8-Channel H.264 Full D1 Recording Real-Time Surveillance DVR Pre-Installed 1 TB Hard DriveSorry. This was a bad experience. It took months for me to get the unit and when I did, it wasn't this one. It wasn't even this brand!!! I tried calling the seller several times and I couldn't get a response. I began to feel lucky that I got a unit at all for my money. If it will help you, after downloading the product manual for BOTH units, it appears they are nearly identical. Software, hardware, cabinet and all. The unit works very well but.....the so called DVD burner......is only a CD burner and therefore won't hold hardly anything. Also, the .AVI format that is output onto a jump drive can only be read using a PC and Windows if you use the software they give you. The file cannot be read or converted on the Mac. I tried Handbrake, Flip4mac, iSkysoft, VLC and several others. It won't happen. Finally, I cannot have the alarm send a message and picture to my email. It won't come through my provider. It's not labeled as spam but is "unable to send" because the unit doesn't offer a check box for "my server requires authentication" . So, I had to get a Gmail account. It works fine through that.

Because these units are so similar, I suspect these issues exist on both. If these issues aren't a problem for you I would have to say they are solid units. Oh....one more thing....there are 2 cooling fans in the unit so it is a bit noisy.

I thought a long time and did much research before I bought this DVR. I am very happy and glad I bought a Q-See.

It would be nice if there was more space between the shelves & the mount/wall. I used this for my PS3 & Dish Network box, and it will be ok. Not much room to get the HDMI or Coaxial cables attached and have space between the wall. For the price it is worth it.

RCA EZ209HD Small Wonder HD Camcorder (Black)

RCA EZ209HD Small Wonder HD CamcorderI bought this RCA camcorder two weeks ago and am generally pleased with it. I chose it over the popular and highly rated Flip and Vado camcorders because the RCA also takes still photos. It doesn't hurt that it is also costs less. I've taken some very nice HD videos and beautiful stills with it. I've also taken some not so great videos and photos with it, generally due to inadequate lighting or shooting into the sun. This camcorder, and probably any pocket camcorder, is best used in good light. That doesn't mean you need to shoot outside in bright sun, but that helps. Good indoor lighting works too. As the light decreases the video will soon get grainy and that becomes very obvious on an HD TV. But in low light all is not lost. I took some low light video (one lamp on in my living room) using the low resolution WebQ mode that looked pretty decent on my computer. The digital zoom is okay but, as with any digital zoom, you lose resolution with it so it is best used sparingly. The sound is generally good but sometimes seems to be kind of low when played on my computer. But that is not really the camera because I have converted videos to a format that can play on my Linux laptop (DivX video codec and MP3 audio codec) and the sound comes out much louder. (I didn't do anything to intentionally boost the audio.) The audio also comes out louder when I used the RCA Memory Manager software to convert the video for emailing. Additionally, when I try to play the raw HD videos on my PC using Windows Media Player, the video and sound are out of sync (but are in sync when played on through a TV). The videos also play well using the RCA software, but they only appear in a small window. I think that my PC or WMP just has a problem with the raw format. When I convert the video to the DivX/MP3 format, everything plays fine. (I used the free version of Any Video Converter to convert my videos, but there are other free software programs out there like Handbrake or Auto Gordian Knot that can convert videos.) The RCA's 2 inch display is viewable even in bright sunlight but it may get a bit washed out.

I had no problem with the RCA Memory Manager software. It loaded easily but required two updates (one for the Memory Manager software and one for the camera firmware). The software automatically looks for updates so you don't have to check the website for new software. The Memory Manager software is only for the video, not photographs. It provides basic video editing capability, frame capture (so you can make a still photo from the video) and conversion capability so you can make a smaller file to email. There's a little more it does but I haven't had the need to try it yet.

This device doesn't take the place of a "real" camcorder or digital camera (this RCA has no flash) but it works well enough as something that is extremely portable so you can take it along to capture events that you otherwise wouldn't. It's more than just a toy but it is fun to play with. For example, yesterday I used it to video and photograph my family at the beach, playing mini-golf, and visiting a lighthouse and the videos and photos all came out very nicely indeed. For a cost of 100 bucks, I definitely think I got my money's worth.

I bought this camcorder for a road trip, and I bought it specifically for these features:

-Charges by and Connects to Computer by mini-USB. This makes it compatible with other charge/USB cords I had for other devices (like my cell phone) and meant I could charge the battery in the car while on the road. Don't underestimate buying products that use mini-USB!

-Instantly recognized by Mac OS X without any special software. Tested it on both Tiger and Leopard. I was able to easily pull the media I wanted from the camera.

-Storage on micro SD made it cross-compatible with my phone and my other camera; I can just switch out the memory cards.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't have any issues with the controls or ports on this camcorder. The controls are very easy to use and precise.

However, the quality of video and sound is not truly HD. You can expect slightly better than normal camcorder quality. I think that's pretty good from a device that fits in your pocket.

For capturing memories quickly and easily, this is a fantastic product. For making high-quality films, you should probably buy something that isn't a pocket-sized camcorder.

Buy RCA EZ209HD Small Wonder HD Camcorder (Black) Now

This little camcorder is a GEM! I really am amazed at how good it is. Very light weight, great battery life (like 3 hours) , and excellent video quality.

When I took this guy out of the box, I read the quick start guide that came with it and quickly learned several things.

1. It needs to be charged before use (even though when I turned it on, it was at 75%).

2. The power on/off switch is a sliding switch on the right side of it. It's kind of springy, and you just slide it down and release it.

3. It has three resolution modes, and you need to just switch it to HD (720P!) and not look back. (Left side of camcorder).

After it was fully charged, I plugged it into my PC and Windows detected it, and asked me if I wanted to install the Memory Manager software. I said yes. It installed Memory Manager and immediately told me there was a new version. Cool! RCA made some improvements or something, so I let it update it. After it installed it again, it told me that the camcorder it self also had an update. Wow! I let it update the camcorder. It was very simple!

I have been playing with the Memory Manager software and it is very slick! It lets me edit and cut videos into a larger (or smaller) video and save them. I can even splice different resolution of videos together. I can also use it to create a smaller size video to email to friends, or upload to Youtube! This thing is SWEET!

I did find out that you HAVE to install the RCA software... Apparently, it installs a "special" video codec, and without it, you are not going to see the videos. Once you install the RCA software, you can also use Windows Media Player to view the videos! Again, WOW!

I bought an 8 GB micro SD card for mine. I get like 4 hours of HD video.

OH yeah, it also is a 8 MP camera!!! You have to be patient at first when you learn how to use it. You press the camera button once, and it puts it in camera mode. Press it again and it takes a photo. Just hold it still, as there is a shutter delay. Photo quality is awesome. To go back to video mode, you press the big red record button. Real simple to use!

A+ RCA! Great job!!!

I've had this camera for a few months now, it replaced an older model Flip that I gave to a family member and was half the price of the HD Flip.

If you're a technical person who doesn't mind messing around with .avi files, then by all means get this camera. The included software is horrible, you're better off just copying off the .avi files, playing them in VLC and editing them in whatever you like, on the PC or on the Mac (I've worked with them on both).

Video quality is pretty much on-par for this type of camera, great for quick, cheezy family videos, but you won't be winning an Oscar for cinematography with this camera, nor any camera in this class. Audio quality is on-par too. I did not have any buzzing or other camera interference as others have mentioned.

I did have a problem with a 4G SDHC card that the camera simply would not recognize, but a 8G card by another manufacturer works just fine. The battery gives out (about 2 hours of continuous video shooting) long before the card fills up.

Charging is quirky, it will work off of full-powered USB ports, probably draws 1000mw, so your 500mw ports won't work. Has problems on some of my laptop ports, but works fine off a powered USB hub. You can not replace the battery, once it is dead you'll probably replace the camera.

You'll probably never use the low-quality modes, what's the point? Just shoot in HD and be done with it.

The ports are all covered in goofy rubber flaps. Easy to rip-off if you're not careful. They'll keep dirt and water out. The body is plastic, good or bad, that's up to you to decide, I don't mind at all.

It's small, lightweight, and very thin. It has a strap but no mounting points. I found my arm getting tired holding it up for long periods, and you can't stand it up on a flat surface easily.

The playback on the unit itself is good enough for watching in the field.

The sensor is 5mp but the camera interpolates still photos to 8mp, don't know why, I wish it didn't bother and just left them at 5. If I don't feel like carrying my 10mp camera with me along with this, it's good enough for most family shots.

RCA support has been prompt and responsive, but could not answer all of my questions and had a little bit of an attitude.

Advantages over the flip, cheaper price, smaller and lighter, takes standard memory cards. Disadvantages, the software is horrible for non-technical people, no camera mount, can't replace the battery.

Want RCA EZ209HD Small Wonder HD Camcorder (Black) Discount?

I really wanted to like this camcorder, however, the video quality was so poor that it was basically unusable. If you record in anything but the brightest sunlight the results will be terrible. The design of the camera is nice. Its light weight, stylish and comfortable. Used it for a few days before finally giving up. If you have memories worth recording then they deserve better than this camcorder. Oh, the memory card retaining latch broke the forth time I ejected the card so now its actually completely useless as I can't get a card to latch in anymore. Somehow a fitting end to a disappointing product. Shame on you RCA!

ViewSonic V35 Pocket PC Handheld

ViewSonic V35 Pocket PC HandheldI myself have the HP iPaq 1910, which I'm very happy with. I recently bought a V35 for my cousin's birthday, and also got a chance to play with it extensively. So my comments are more of a comparison with the 1910.

The V35 is about the same thickness as the 1910, but slight longer and wider. While specs say that it's also slightly heavier than the 1910, you can't really tell the difference, since both are very lightweight. Because the 1910 has more of a metallic feel while the V35 feels more plasticky (which is not to say the latter feels cheap!), there's an illusion that the V35 is actually lighter than the 1910. The bottomline is, the V35 feels very good in the hand, and its non-shiny, non-slippery surface makes it much easier to hold than the 1910.

Both the V35 and 1910 have 3.5" diagonal transflexive screens, and both are bright and beautiful. I think the 1910's screen sports richer colors, whereas the V35's is very slightly washed out, but still much better than the display on my old Audiovox Maestro (made by Toshiba). Like the 1910, the V35's touch screen is very responsive, and the backlighting is perfectly even.

While both models accommodate SD memory cards, the V35 has the added advantage of being SDIO compatible, although, admittedly, there aren't many (or any) SDIO devices here in the States right now. Part of V35's system memory is accessible as "flash storage," but the 1910 still has a bit more useable memory onboard.

My most positive impression of the V35 is it's well built and feels good in the hand, vs. 1910's slippery, easy-to-break feel. The battery life is also longer than the 1910; my estimate is 3.5 hours on average (playing MP3 files from a Lexar 256MB SD card with screen turned off) vs. 2-2.5 hours for the 1910. The V35 also comes with a docking cradle and a slip case, both of which are missing in the 1910 kit.

On the downside the V35's battery is not user-replaceable. (The 1910's is, and it has a back-up battery to conserve data in case of a completely dead main battery.) Given that the typical LiIon battery has a recycle life of about 500 times, if you charge the V35 once a day, the battery will die out in about 18 months. Of course, in reality the battery probably won't completely die by then, but its capacity/useable time will definitely be shortened considerably. (Just ask any Palm V user who bought the Palm more than 2 years ago.)

If I had to pick my Pocket PC again, I'd have a very hard time deciding between the iPaq 1910 and the V35. If you don't have to have the smallest and sleekist Pocket PC, I highly recommend the V35 for its longer battery life, included cradle and case, and SDIO-capable expansion.

In the end, though, you may just grab whatever is cheaper. :)

I could go on and on about what the Viewsonic V35 does, but I feel it is more important that I compare it to other pocket PC's in it's price range. I did a lot of research before I bought my Viewsonic V35, and I ended up basically up between the Dell Axim X5 300Mhz. The Dell turned out to be slightly cheaper, but it did not come with a cradle nor did it come with a leather case. You would eventually have to get at least the leather case, or your screen won't look too good after a while. After buying all the stuff for the Dell that would come with the Viewsonic, the Dell would be more expensive. Basically, I only considered models with a transflective screen since anything else looks foggy and milky. So that left me with the Dell Axim X5, the HP 1910, and one of those overpriced toshiba's. When I looked at the HP 1910, it had a slightly better looking screen than the viewsonic, but the viewsonic was a close second. I got to play with the Dell at one of their kiosks and their screen was okay, but not as good as the Viewsonic's. I read the reviews for the HP 1910 (really a compaq) and many customers complained about stability problems and the unit turning on by itself and draining it's own batteries. This unreliability is consistent with compaq products. So I immediately ruled out the 1910.

Since all of these pda's are running windows, there isn't too much difference except in stability and portabilty. The Dell Axim is by far the bulkiest pda I have ever seen which is another reason I ruled that out. Even with free shipping I received the V35 in only a mere 3 days. I was impressed with it's size and stability, as expected. I have not had problems with the V35 so far and I've had it for over a month. If I played MP3's continuously, it lasts just over 3 hours, which doesn't sound too good, but keep in mind this is better than most other PDA's. In all other activities, such as writing notes and scheduling things on my calendar, a whole day of this didn't come close to running low on battery, so I assume games and music eat up a lot of your battery, otherwise it is great. The directional pad is great for games (not so on the Dell), and there is a plethora of games available for free on the web. I use my pocket PC both at work and at school and the pocket pc always comes in handy. I have used Palm OS 5 for a few years and can tell you that it looks EXACTLY THE SAME as it always has. Palm hasn't bothered to be innovative at all and has rehashed the same nonfunctional operating system 6 times. To be honest, Palm OS hasn't changed much in the past 4 years and is not as flexible as a pocket PC. I couldn't find a reason to stick with Palm anymore. I had no problems synching the V35 to my PC, it was fast and took about a minute. Overall, the V35 is a reliable, cost effective, and has a beautiful screen. Viewsonic has had a good reputation for its other products, and so far lives up to it's name.

I bought the iPaq H1910 before I had this unit. The 1910 had a great screen but I just didn't like the feel of it for daily use and the buttons weren't very easy to push for navigating or gaming. Finally I just felt it wasn't the right one for me so I returned it for the Viewsonic V35. Boy did I make the right move! This unit is so much nicer to hold and use and the screen holds it's own against any other Pocket PC. The applications work great, battery lasts a long time and this thing is quick. It has no problems playing movie trailers, mp3's or anything else I throw at it. Plus it comes with a cradle (something the iPac h1910 did not)! Overall it's definetly the best Pocket PC for the money. Thumbs up to Viewsonic for an excellent product.

Summery If you are looking to enter the Pocket PC world, the ViewSonic V35 is the best low cost entry point.

It came down to the iPAQ 1910 and the ViewSonic V35 and I went with the ViewSonic. It had all the features I required and you can't bet the price. You will give up some RAM and a shorten battery life to the competition. But to me these where minor tradeoffs for great performance (larger processor), great screen, small size, light weight and it comes with a cradle (the iPAQ 1910 does not).

I had the device for over a week and my only complaint how the device fits into the cradle. It's a little shaky and not as good a fit as my old Palm VIIx. You just have to be extra carefully when docking.

There is not doubt in my mind that Pocket PC is the way to go. It is much more friendly than Palm and it has the interface and functionality that you are already familiar with your PC.

I switched from a Palm V. What a difference! No eyestrain anymore. The screen is bright, the colors help with reading calendars, contact information and e-mail. With an add-in 256 MB SD card there is plenty of storage for music and documents. It fits nicely into a shirt pocket, even with the semi-hard case, and is light enough not to notice. It has been running very stably and so far seems surprisingly sturdy. I suspect that the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h1910 is similar but the specs show a lot shorter battery life. The Toshiba e310/e335 is also similar but a bit larger and the screen did not look as bright. The Dell Axim X5 is heavier and larger but can accomodate a CF type II card in addition to an SD card. Regardless of your choice, I suggest getting one of several utilities that are available to keep track of memory and battery charge on the Today page.

Magnavox ZV450MW8 DVD Recorder and VCR Combo with Digital Tuner

Magnavox ZV450MW8 DVD Recorder and VCR Combo with Digital TunerI wanted to update my Emerson(Funai) EWR20V4 VCR/DVD Recorder because that is 4+ years old and VHS units will disappear in a couple of years, just as LP's, 8 Track and Sony Beta vcr's have gone. I had no problems with the Emerson and the Magnavox is the SAME maker, I figured it is a safe bet. Now that I have used the Magnavox for two months without a problem I can say that it is a good unit to buy. Wal-Mart had it for $179-how could you go wrong?(barring a lemon) I have an old TV and since this has a digital tuner I did not have to buy a converter to receive the new TV signal. I use this to watch the over the air channels using a rabbit ear antenna. Since I accidentally let time pass and could not use the Gov't coupon card, I would have spent $50+ for the converter box anyway. The picture quality is fair/good. Now, the important stuffUse the Recommended Disc's only! It is Very picky on the disc recording manufacturer. Also, once a Movie, TV Show or personal Cam-Cord recording is copied-this unit will Force you to name the Next recording number/segment. It always assumes that there is space for another recording. Before and once Finalized, the menu will display an -unused/non-titledsegment. As odd as that sounds, I called their customer service people and they told me the same. That is the only real pain in the butt problem I found with this product. If not for that and based on the cost I would have assigned a 5 star rating.

purchased at local retailer(wm). continually ate vcr tapes; then vcr door fell off while trying to save another eaten tape. boy, this thing was hungry. dvd worked okay; but never got chance to try all features. replaced with cheaper model that only plays tapes and dvd`s. that one seems okay. losing confidence in magnavox name.

We (my wife and I) first purchased this equipment at Walmart in March 2008, and connected it to our LCD flat screen in the living-room. With more than 2 years of very satisfactory and reliable performance from this equiment, we decided to purchase another one, to accommodate a recently-purchased LCD, installed in our bed-room. We wanted, of course, this specific brand and model, but Walmart no longer had it in stock, and we could not find any store in our area, at the time, that had it. However, a friend recommended Amazon.com. In fact, we had never ordered from Amazon.com let alone heard about Amazon.com. We placed the order at OUTLET through Amazon.com and the equipment arrived within 6 days. We installed it, and, to our utmost satisfaction, it has been performing excellently. The 90-day warranty, provided by the seller, is evidence of their commitment to excellence, quality and professionalism. FIVE STARS (*****) for this equipment.

I bought one of these new through a local retailer, specifically for the timer-recording feature. After just 6 months of use the internal clock forgot what year/month/day it was, and resetting it would not hold. Their customer service/repair firm ...Funai Corp. had UPS pick it up and take it in for a "Rapid Exchange". That was to mean in a few weeks I would get someone else's repaired unit under warranty. It took 101 days of my phone calls and e mails to get an exchange unit becsuse customer service goofed and did not put in an order for the repair facility to send mine.

Now I have had the exchange unit two weeks, and IT is doing the same thing...the internal clock is messed up and I cannot do timer recording.

I have asked Funai for my money back....they will not do that. I am not about to ask for another Rapid Exhange (ha!) and wait three months for another repaired unit that will probably have the same timer problem.

Veho VCC-005-MUVI-HD10 Muvi HD 1080p Mini Handsfree Camcorder with Remote Control and Wide Angle Le

Veho VCC-005-MUVI-HD10 Muvi HD 1080p Mini Handsfree Camcorder with Remote Control and Wide Angle LensI bought this device to record all my traffic stops and cases I come across. All I can say is that every department should have this issued. It's already saved my job! As cops, we get complaints all the time from citizens claiming this or that! It's an awesome feeling to say " No I didn't, here's the video!" This Muvi HD10 is awesome! Excellent picture / voice quality. The wide angle lense captures all the action especially when you're dealing with multiple subjects. There's cheaper and smaller ones available, but it's just that! Cheaper and smaller because it doesn't offer the quality higher models like this one offers. This thing easily clips to my uniform or can be mounted anywhere as a bunch of mounting accessories come with it. The only con to this is the small 4gb sd card that comes with it. When you're recording video especially in 1080p or even 720p, you run out of room pretty quick, good enough for about 30 mins of video. I've upgraded to 32gb and used a class 10 card for faster speeds in transferring and hours of recording time. At the end of my shift I just view, edit, rename, and transfer to my bigger flash drive or laptop. Just a word of warning to my fellow officers......don't get the ear mounted cams, they'll easily fly off your head if you gotta chase or take someone down, unless you're some fat desk sergeant that never patrols or wants to record himself downing jelly rolls. This Muvi HD 10 comes with a solid alligator clip. I've rolled around with a suspect and it stayed on my shirt the whole time. Oh yeah, it works good for other stuffs too! Bottom line, it works...and works well!

Camera is solid and well made. Easy to see the display even in sunlight. Came with a variety of mountings and a remote control. Remote control and VOX works great. It's very easy to operate. The touch controls are sensitive.

Video Outstanding quality videos and four resolution choices.

Photos The pics it takes are they are wide angle and towards the edges objects curve. It's an interesting photo effect but if you want plain photos this may not be the cam to select.

OK, first lets clear things up. It is VERY easy to turn off the time and date on screen (read the instructions). Second YES,. you can turn off the beeps too (read the instructions) This cam is MUCH better than the GoPro because: It has a screen. With the GoPro,m you either guess and get home to find you have recorded an hour of the sky, or pay another $100.00 for a clumsy clamp on screen. Also the veho has a 160 degree field of view. The GoPro SAYS it has a 140 degree field, but what they don't tell you is that's only for photo, video goes down to 180 degrees. The veho HD 7 and HD 10 are used by more motorcycle cops than any other and does not look like a grey cardboard box. The remote control is worth twice the price itself. Just too cool. Also the VOX feature instantly makes this a great security cam. Love it!!!

I bought this camera based upon the reviews and example footage I've found on YouTube. The reason I purchased this to begin with was to have a wearable camera to wear while on patrol (Law Enforcement). I needed something that would be of quality, use as little space as possible, and be solid in construction. When it arrived, I immediately started testing it out using the 1080p and 720p settings:

Video Quality: Amazing quality on HD settings. Eats up memory space like a mad man, but looks pretty solid. I was able to transition from light to dark with little problems, and see clearly in all recordings. I could read license plates, street signs, etc. when mounted in my vehicle, and see small text when worn.

Audio Quality: Decent "to the rear" recording when worn, but amazing "to the front" as the mic is mounted on the from face beside the camera. I even ran some music in my vehicle and turned up the radio and it came across as clear as if I added the music onto the clip afterwards.

When speaking to different people I'm able to fully understand every word spoken within about 20 feet or less. Comes in handy in almost every regard.

Construction: It's made of hard and soft plastic. Has what feels like a rubbery feel to the front (which seems like a layer added on top). The screen on the back seems sturdy enough to take a few bumps, though I did leave the screen protector on it when wearing the aligator clip (the screen is put up against the clip with a small gap).

Downsides: Eats up memory. A single 40 minute clip on full 1080 HD fills an entire 4GB MicroSD card. I'm not entirely sure why, but the footage breaks itself down into multiple files. One file was 3.42GB (31 minutes) and a second one less in length and size to fill the card. I see no option for ONE continous file which would be ideal.

One the of the most major flaws which caused me to give this a 4 star review is that if you leave the unit on and then try to record a few things happen. I usually keep it on and plugged in while wearing it (with an extended USB cord plugged into a laptop). When I go to record I pull the cord and began hitting record. The camera goes into a standby when not in use, so it takes roughly 15-20 seconds to get out of that and start up. This requires you to hit the record button over and over until it starts. You run the risk of stopping the recording this way as well.

I then noticed after doing a VERY crucial recording... that while it recorded the video in full HD perfectly fine (albiet two files), it had NO audio. ?! That's what I said. There were some very specific statements and observations on the video that were completely lost. I tried three different players (VLC, KMPLayer, Quicktime) and the audio was simply gone. I attribute this to the fact that I had been keeping the camera on for too long regardless of whether it went into standby or not.

Bottom Line: It's an amazing camera. It's discrete. When mounted to chest I've had people look at it and not even notice it's a camera (I did apply black electrical tape to the MUVI logo which is bright white on the front, and to the two lights on it). It's sturdy... not a single problem even after some drops. It comes with an amazing variety of mounts for the dash, body, etc. The price is decent, and the qualty is worth every penny. I'm tempted to buy a second one to dash mount it and run it in conjunction with the chest camera.

Want Veho VCC-005-MUVI-HD10 Muvi HD 1080p Mini Handsfree Camcorder with Remote Control and Wide Angle Le Discount?

Got this camera as a replacement for a smaller Muvi camera that failed.

The touch controls are very sensitive. The zoom will not work in movie mode.

Comes with an easy to use remote control that allows the user to take movies, or still photos.

The movie feature takes very good quality movies, even without the zoom.

The still photos are hit and miss, about half turn out blurry.

Battery life has been much better than expected.

The instructions that come with the camera are very minimal, and the controls can be a bit confusing, especially deleting and viewing files.

The camera is a bit large for mounting on a helmet, and for mounting on a motorcycle, it has lots of accessories, but no method of mounting on handlebars.

So far, the quality of this unit has been good, hope it lasts better than the first one I bought.

Belkin AV360 Mini DisplayPort Converter for 27" iMac

Belkin AV360 Mini DisplayPort Converter for 27' iMacUsing it with my iMac11,3 and Xbox 360 works brilliantly.

Just bought a 2 Way HDMI Switcher so I can switch screens rather than unplugging the USB cable to switch off the AV360.

It works as advertised. I have my PS3 hooked up to it and I use my 27" iMac as a monitor. Only complaint is that it displays at 720p only, would have been nice to get the full 1080p. Still would recommend.

I wish it supported 1080p, and I wish it came with instructions on how to switch back to the computers OS screen. (had to look it up)

Otherwise great product! Allows me to sneak away to the office and play games with the lady wants to use the TV.

Works no issue there, if you use an Apple Display with the wires coming out from the back of the screen then be aware that although it works you need to change the volume setting via the Mac first then repugnant into this adapter for your next device. Use it with a Roku and it works well.

These HDMI-to-miniDisplayPort converters are popping up left and right...and disappearing just as quickly. I have owned Belkin products before, and they have been solid overall.

After seeing a YouTube video for a $39 converter, I searched, and found out that it's not available. Then, I found an $89 converter that was discontinued. My search led me to the AV360, which, at a whopping

$159, wasn't that attractive at first. However, I couldn't find anything else that's cheaper and available, so I bought it.

It was super-easy to set up; just plug in the cables and go. No AC power; it uses USB. So, you connect USB, MiniDisplayPort, and HDMI to the respective devices, and it works instantly.

I'm using it to play my PS3 on my 27" iMac. Once everything was connected, I turned on the PS3, and the screen filled with colored bars for a few seconds. Then, the intro screen popped up. Easy to use, no problems...if it keeps working this well, I'll consider it worth the hefty price tag.

The cameras I bought were 3.6mm. They capture my entire front yard and the night vision is excellent. I replaced older cameras, and these cost much less than my original cameras and are MUCH better. I have bought several cameras from this seller and I've been happy with all of them.

Good camera for the price clear color picture during daylight clear black n white at night very good delivery time.

I bought these cameras to use in the house. In daylight mode the picture is kinda blurry and there is no adjustment for focusing. Night vision actually looks better then daylight mode, but is still blurry. These cameras are better then my 420 tv line cameras though. Also, these camera's are not wide angle cameras. There is no fish eye look to the image. It has a normal range of view.

Refurbished Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder - DS40 with Stereo Microphone

Refurbished Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder - DS40 with Stereo MicrophoneI've used a DS-30 for several years and loved it, and the DS-40 was just an upgrade. I use it to record dictation, group discussions, and presentations. It handles all three types very well with the included stereo mic. Transfers recordings to a Mac with no trouble: Use Flip4Mac to convert them, and edit using Audacity. Haven't yet tried creating an MP3 from the recordings.

This unit was "refurbished" but I couldn't tell it wasn't new.

The interesting question is comparing the DS-40 to my iPhone as an audio recorder.

Pros of using iPhone with the Dictamus app compared to DS-40:

-I always have it with me.

-Very easy to start recording. Can stop and restart recording, even after doing a different recording.

-Sound quality is fine with dictation and small group discussion

-Looks like I can edit right on the phone, but I haven't tried it yet.

Cons of using iPhone as recorder:

-More complicated transferring audio recordings to my laptop, where they end up in iTunes.

-Lower sound quality for large group recordings.

-If I'm using it for recording, I can't be using it for other things at the same time, such as emails or texting. However, incoming phone calls put Dictamus on hold till the call is finished.

For now, I love my DS-40, but the time could come when the iPhone replaces both it and a digital camera.

UPDATE. It worked for 1 year, then stopped. Won't turn on. No idea why. My older DS-30 still works find.
