BEWARE OF SELLER!! ElectroFlip never returned my money. I returned the product I bought from electroflip (I bought on amazon for $240) by mail 2 months after purchasing and after communicating with representative about the return. Because it was past the warranty date of 30 days, they offered me only $50 cash back or $60. I chose $50, lost $190. They never sent me my $50 like they said and it's been 3 months. Customer service will not return e-mails. I have sent 11 e-mails with no response. I have no PayPal credit. These guys are rip-offs!!! Beware: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ELECTROFLIP!! I lost $240 on it..please learn from my mistake.

Pros

The product is excellent, it has an excellent viewing angle and takes great videos with excellent voice recording.

Cons

Product does not come with instructions or memory card. Instructions can be viewed on the web and sd card has to be purchased separately, i would recommend at least a 8 gig card, it fills up rapidly!

The cigarette lighter charger is useless. Mine has disintegrated and i have had to be conducting repairs on it, presently i have not been able to use device for one week because charger has gone awry. The battery is supposed to give 3 hrs when charged, it doesnt, however it is a blc-5 battery that is used in some Nokia phones, so if u have one you can use it.

If there was not an issue with the charger, i would have given it a 5 star rating.

I purchased this item hoping to put an end to all the compressed air cans that I use to clean. This was a waste of money and time all the thing does is make noise and give a slight breeze. You could easily blow more dust off of your equipment with your own lungs, even if they are filled with tar, than you can with this blower, and you might as well just scoop up anything that you want to use the vacuum to clean. I was very disappointed in this product.

If I live to be 140, I know my last dying gasp will produce more suction than this "vacuum." It is basically useless in other ways as well. The bristles on the brush attachment are far too stiff, rendering them incapable of curling around small components to loosen dust particles underneath. The exhaust vent (which doubles as a rather asthmatic "blower") is positioned in such a way that it actually blows much of what little dust is picked up back into the item you're vacuuming. And to top it all off, when I placed the unit into its charging station, it would not seat properly on the leads, so it wouldn't even charge. In short: just another made-in-China piece of junk.

As for the computer itself, I've only had it a few days but it is exactly what I wanted. Not a high performance machine by any stretch but it's no slouch either, A lot of computer for the money. It came with 4GB of RAM and I ordered an additional 4GB memory card which should be in soon and then this machine will be maxed out. Screen view is excellent. Start up is quick after removing some of the crap ware that came with it. After reading all the hate reviews on Windows 8 I was a little leery. Although it is different, I'm beginning to like it. Windows 7 desktop can be brought up easily if desired. Not a gamer or laptop movie viewer so I can't really comment on these aspects. I haven't even tried the optical drive yet; not sure I'll really ever need it. Went 3 1/2 years with the laptop this one replaced and never needed one. I like the looks of it in sparkling black (finger prints will be an issue but easily wiped away). Having the side numeric touch pad is a definite plus on a laptop at this price. This is my sixth HP computer and I 've never had a single issue with the first five which is why I stayed with HP. The only concern I have with this machine, and I might be picky, is that the scrollable mouse pad is very sensitive and can cause you to move you cursor very easily and unexpectedly if touched by accident. I added a wireless mouse to remedy this. For the money I paid I'm a happy camper and see no reason why I can't get many years of enjoyment from the machine

When my laptop bit the dust, I scoured the internet for a replacement looking for the best value. I'm retired, and am very frugal with my money. I read reviews, compared specifications, and came down to about 4 laptops. When I realized one of them was the same brand and model that my daughter was using, that made my decision. My daughter's HP Pavilion is several years old, but working great and she shares hers with her 3 children. It's taken a beating, and still performs. My only worry was the new Windows 8 operating system. Other reviews indicated the operating system was difficult to learn and hard to understand. It looked to me like I had no choice. All new laptops were Windows 8.

The laptop was delivered exactly when Amazon said it would be (they are VERY dependable about delivery!). I opened the box, hooked up the laptop and began copying the data from my old computer. I've had the new laptop for only 4 days now, but so far have not found anything to complain about. I love the touch of the keyboard, and really like the numeric keypad. I'm not a fan of the keyboard mouse, preferring to use the traditional mouse instead, but I've been using the keyboard mouse pad occasionally, and find it less sensitive than others I've used. (My main complaint previously was that even when I didn't want the mouse to move, it would move because my sleeve touched it or something else random brushed against it.) This mouse pad is not smooth, it is a little bumpy, which I think makes it easier to use.

And Windows 8? Yes, it's new, a little confusing but even at my old age, I've managed to adapt to it. I know it hasn't even been a week yet, but I am completely satisfied with this purchase, and pleased with the value for my money.

After 3 solid months of trying to find a computer that was compatible with me, I went back to a brand I have had before, HP. This computer has everything I want and is perfect for me! I know some people have issues with windows 8, but I took a class on it when I bought a doomed Toshiba in December. (Plasma screen cracked in 3 weeks, and no, I didn't drop it, it just happened!) Toshiba refused to refund my money. From the time I plugged this computer in it has worked perfectly. I would recommend this HP to everyone who wants a good, reliable computer!

Compared to the Chinese imports (Apex, Initial, Cyberhome, etc.), the Panasonic DVD-LS5 is definitely a premium model, and both the price and quality show. If you just want to watch DVDs on the road and don't mind teeny sound or blocky images, the low-end models will serve you well. In fact I love my 8-inch Initial. On the other hand, if you want to truly enjoy a mobile DVD experience, you gotta buy this product.

Better styling and build quality aside, the Panasonic has at least three significant advantages over non-Japanese players: 1) the screen is clearer and offers better viewing angles horizontally, so you can share the joy of DVD with another person; 2) the sound is just incredibly loud for a small player like this, unlike the low-end players -in fact it feels almost like surround sound in a quiet room; 3) the tilting mechansim is really cool and allows you to adjust the screen angle freely.

The battery snaps to the back (and raises the player a bit) and offers a little over 2 hours of viewing pleasure. All considered, the Panasonic player is also much more portable than the other ones; even with the battery installed we are talking something you can just grab and watch, as opposed to carrying in two hands.

Is the Panasonic worth the extra money over the other players? I definitely think so.

For Christmas this year I decided on a portable DVD player as my present. I dont travel very much but I LOVE technology so I figured why not, and so began my quest. I went to various online sites and eventually went out to my local electronics stores to do some research and to see the different players. I visited the usual Wal-Mart and Target, which had decent amount of relatively inexpensive portables on display but none of which were working models. I went to BestBuy to find 3 models on the floor. The one which price wise, was close to the Panasonic, was a Toshiba sd-p1200. It was HORRIBLE, it looked like an Etch-A-Sketch playing a DVD. The other two models, one a Poloroid that wouldnt work, and the other a Mintek which like the Poloroid wouldnt work, looked very cheaply put together and not worth the money. So I decided to move on to Circuit City. Once there I came across this wonderful little DVD player. The Panasonic DVD-LS5. I didn't want something clunky or bulky, and this player fit the bill. It is about the size of a portable CD player. The screen resolution is amazing. It is like a nice LCD computer monitor (albeit a small one). But with just over 500 lines of resolution and a 5 inch widescreen display, it does the DVD's justice. It is lightweight and very quiet. I played two movies back to back (Terminator 3 and Indiana Jones and the last Crusade) and this bad boy didnt even work up a sweat. The entire unit stayed cool and whisper quiet 4 hours after I first turned it on. I used wall power as my battery was not charged yet. Later on I used the battery and got through one 2 hour movie. So the description of 2 hours per charge is accurate. It only takes 2 hours to charge the battery back up and since it is a lithium ion battery there is no need to fully discharge the battery. The swivel screen function is really very cool. It allows you to watch a movie in classic portable dvd player fashion (like opening a book) or you can adjust the height and tilt, or you can completely compact the unit by laying the screen flat on the player. Little rubber wheels on the bottom of the screen prevent the screen from scratching the player. Panasonic has thought of everything. I only paid $299 for mine and at that price I almost felt like I stole it! It is an amzing little machine that has phenominal sound too. I am a radio dj so I am all about sound. When the headphones are plugged in.. WOW!!!... I've heard sounds on the portable that I never heard on my full size DTS home theater system! The bottom line is, if you on a quest for a solid portable system, the quest ends here. I know that it is a little pricy, but considering some of the other models out there that are shotty construction and hit or miss as far as it working or not, for the money (and it was well spent money), the Panasonic DVD-LS5 is at the top of its class!

After reading all the other reviews on Amazon and looking at everything in a few of New York City's major electrical stores (J&R, Circuit City, Best Buy) I bought the Panasonic DVD-LS5 portable DVD player for $329 from Amazon.

It was the most streamline and compact, solid feeling, good looking and highly recommended DVD player of this size. The screen looked sharper and brighter than it's competitors including larger much more expensive models.

6 months later, several friends and colleagues have fallen in love with this portable DVD player and after doing their own due dilligence, all chose the same model. Panasonic really seem to have gotten it right and the premium one pays for this consistently strong and reliable brand is well worth the money.

Size? I travel a great deal and wanted a very good tough small well made machine for around $350. The LS5 fits the bill and seems to stand alone in it's corner of the market. Larger portable DVD players start approaching the size of a small laptop and cost around $600 and up. Moreover, this model is perfect for a tray table even when the seat in front is reclined in your face. Ideal for the back of a car. Sits on my knee in the airport lounge. In hotel rooms I either connect my DVD player to the TV using the supplied cables or usually prefer it's crisp clean screen and awesome headphone sound.

Extras? The battery gives just over 2 hours of juice basically one movie plus change. I recommend people buy an additional battery: Panasonic's CGR-H601A/B extended life battery is good for an extra 3-4 hours (a very reasonable $69 especially considering most batteries cost more than a hundred bucks).

Sound? The headphone sound is absolutely amazing and the external speakers in such a tiny machine can't match their sophisticated range and power. So I recommend a really good pair of headphones don't skimp the sound is incredible! I can hear a depth and nuance in a movie's soundtrack and dialogue which I've never noticed before. A headphone splitter is a very good idea. Additionally I recently bought Sony's small and highly touted SRS-T55 travel speakers ($47.50) so that a small group could join the fun. Two or three people can all view equally well without losing quality from being off centre.

I'm not much of an electronics wiz/enthusiast but I really love this machine. I do lots of travel by train and air and this device has been my constant companion for the past three months. I find I don't have much of a chance to watch the movies I want to watch at home (4 kids ages 2-15 tend to keep you busy) so investing in a portable DVD player was a must if I was ever going to see a real movie again. The picture quality is quite good, I'd recommend buying a good pair of headphones (good sound quality and comfortable!) since you'll need it if you're out in public.

I have had the Panasonic DVD-LS5 for two months now. It is awesome! I did alot of research and decided to go with the Panasonic. I got it for $198 after using the Amazon Visa for $30 off and $50 rebate and then a $50 Promotional certificate. I couldn't beat that price. I basically have to agree with all the positive details everyone else has written because I would just be repeating all of their findings. I do have one story to mention. My daughter and her friend brought both of their portable DVD players on a trip. His was a Cyberhome and if you read the reviews on that one I can tell you the Cyberhome did everything they said it would do also. It froze, skipped, and had no picture but had sound. Cyberhome may be cheaper with a carkit included but the Panasonic can't be beat. They ended up using the Panasonic and put the Cyberhome away. I just smiled.I was glad I did my homework. I did receive the carkit charger it was $125. I thought it was rather expensive but the quality is excellent and the cord goes from the lighter to the back of the van. Can't beat that. The Picture is just as clear as if it were hooked up to a/c. We are thoroughly enjoying it hooked up to our TV also. Thanks again.

Toshiba Satellite P25-S607 17" Media Center Laptop (2.80-GHz Pentium 4 (Hyper-Threading), 512 MB RA

I purchased a P25-(s)607 about a month ago and have been nothing but pleased with its performance.

Pros-

a. HUGE screen that really allows you to see a lot at one time

b. really fast computer. Benchmarks were outstanding for this product when I ran them right out of the box. They did nothng but improve after I did all the recommended steps (esp. driver upgrades)

c. Lots of goodies that no other laptop has... 4 USB 2.0 ports are great, and the DVD R/RW is really fast (4x) by today's standards. The 5400 rpm hd is fast, though with 60GB isn't the biggest out on the market these days (though with a dvd rw you really can't mind too much)

Cons-

a. This puppy is BIG... and heavy. Even though the screen is a whopping 17 inches, there is an area around the screen of unused plastic (about a 1-1.5 inch edge) This only adds to the huge footprint of this laptop.

b. The keyboard is relatively big, but is still not quite full size. In fact, the keyboard on my 15 inch compaq laptop is actually wider by almost 3/4 of an inch. It is still a capable keyboard though. It is also placed in about the center of the huge case, which can make using it a bit uncomfortable.

c. Lights, Lights, Lights... boy, this thing has a lot of pretty blue and green lights... and I can't find any way to turn them off. This can be a bit distracting while watching a movie in the dark.

d. Battery/TV tuner issues. there is only one battery port, and if you want to use a secondary drive (or the included tv tuner for that matter) you have to remove the battery. I know it seems semi-logical as you will be plugged into a cable anyway for the tv, but at the same time, you would think toshiba would find a way to incorperate a battery.

e. pricelets face it... this isn't the cheapest laptop on the planet... though it is one of the fastest and best equipped

All in all, I would probably rate this as a 4.5 star computer. I haven't fallen in love with it yet, but the courtship is well on its way.

I waited a long time for a windows laptop to get a 17" screen, and this model made it worth the wait. This machine is huge! It weighs almost 10 lbs, and dwarfs my old 15" machine. If you plan on taking trips with this, think again.

The screen is very crisp, and gives you the room to place two windows side by side. So far, everything seems very fast, probably due to the faster hard drive and the extra video memory. But, I would have liked to have seen a 7200 rpm drive instead of the 5400 rpm one.

One thing I will say is that the machine looks much better than the pictures indicate.

This machine has just about everything you need in a desktop replacement. Surpisingly, it runs very cool with a 2.8 GHz processor. There are 3 fans on the bottom and a huge heat sink in the back.

I would have liked to see a separate keypad since Toshiba had the room to put one in, but the overall feel of the full-size keyboard is good. The small tab key, though, is tough to get used to.

Another major annoyance is the touchpad. It will select items with a slight touch, and I have not found out how to turn it off. I have called tech support 3 times on this to no avail. Toshiba's tech support has not impressed me on this issue, and I have had trouble understanding the tech support staff.

Tech support has told me that this machine does not support the features most touch pads have, like being able to turn off the tap to click feature. However, I believe it just needs a different driver.

I have also had trouble with the supplied TV Tuner. The machine will not boot with it installed, nor will it allow me to connect to the TV. Tech support's solutions so far are to re-install all of the drivers, which did not work. This has not been resolved yet.

Having said this, I am very impressed with the product, and would highly recommend it. But I think some of the lower models may be a better value. It depends on your needs, but you will not go wrong with these computers as long as you don't mind the size and the short battery life. The issues I am having look like they can be resilved.

Hello. I love this machine, You should know that the TV receiver can only be used without the battery, (the module goes in that bay) so you MUST be plugged to an outlet. Also needs an external antennae conection (includes conector) The Remote Control for the media center is quite nice BUT you need to attach an IR receiver (also included) to one of your USB ports so this is not that practical after all... Great buy, but I just wanted you to know what I did not when I ordered... :)

I have not generally been kind to Toshibas, but I must say I took a liking to this one the first time I booted it up. It is impressive to look at, quite high-tech with great lines and lots of cool colored lights. But it's what's inside that counts.

It has a very, very fast 2.8 GHz CPU with an ample 512 megabytes of 800 MHz FSB RAM (expandable to 2 gigs), a 64 megabyte dedicated vidcard and a 17" display that is unbeatable. The 60 gigabyte hard drive, though, is a bit smaller than I would have expected.

That it has a digital TV tuner, can play and record DVDs as well as CDs (so it can be used as a true media center instead of just as a PC) and that it features a full function remote control are all just that much more "lagniappe" (oh, that's a cajun word for 'that little bit extra' you didn't expect but were pleased to get).

Anyway, why only 4 stars? Well, mainly because this computer is not really a laptop, unless you have a very, very big lap. This is a desktop masquerading as a laptop, and believe me, at a whopping 10 pounds it isn't going to be making very many trips. That may all be fine and dandy, but there is a significant penalty for it being called a laptop, namely a higher price than an equivalent desktop media center (look at the Gateways, for instance) would command.

For most folks, this is overkill. Where would it be perfect? I would say it would be true Nirvana in some lucky person's dorm room, though it would also look most handsome under anyone's Christmas tree!

I will never buy another Toshiba Computer again. I've owned 3 laptops made by Toshiba (P25-S607, M30 and P25-S676) and am impressed with the machines. However, Toshiba's support is by far the worst that I've ever encountered; in fact, I would go so far as to say that they have NO SUPPORT!

One day I was working on my P25-S676 and I shut the lid of the computer, which would obviously put the system on standby. When I opened the lid again and tried to turn the computer on, it wouldn't give me anything but a blank, black screen. I found out that the motherboard was fried (???) and that it needed to be sent into the Toshiba Support Depot. I sent my laptop to Toshiba on 1/15/2005 and here it is 2/25/2005 and it is still not fixed. It's not the fact that I've been without my laptop for over a month that bothers me; it's that I was promised EIGHT different E.T.A.s! If I was told that it would take two months to fix my laptop, I would've been disappointed, but respected the honesty. However, it really ticks me off when a company lies to me eight times and counting!!! I have no faith that I will receive my laptop back in the next month, or maybe even this year. I've contacted the Better Business Bureau and I'm hoping that they can light a fire under Toshiba, since Toshiba's customers can't.

When shopping for a laptop, shop for support first and performance second.

Sony ICD-PX312f Digital Voice Recorder With FM tuner

This is really a nice product. Many high end features that perhaps I will grow into. Recording quality is top notch. Light, easy to use and the buttons are well positioned. I like the fm tuner so I can record local broadcasts. Fm recording is the main reason I purchased. So why not 5 Stars? Back lit display. My previous Sony was back lit. I figured since this new one was a higher grade that it would be back lit. After opening and realizing that it wasn't backlit I was really disappointed but not enough to send back.

The unit looks great and has many features! However, the operating manual, which in fact is actually about 10 different manuals for various laguages,which are all basically useless, does not give adequate detailed information in English as to all the features you can use. Wth all the benifical features, you are on your own to figure out how ecah feature operates.This is the difficult and frustrating part. If I could figure it out more easily, it would have a higher rating. I guess I'll let my grand son get it working for me.

This box has been an amazing performer in our new house, which only has FIOS. The FIOS service was fine, but the DVR was severely lacking. It had issues with conflicting recordings, and we missed lots of our favorite shows.

The Tivo is DVR as it should be. It records all of our shows and even suggests some. Setup and use is great. Like any system, there is a slight learning curve on the GUI and the remote, but both are largely intuitive.

It does require an internet connection; however, if you have FIOS, your regular coaxial cable is all it needs. It will use something called MOCA to seamlessly connect to your internet. That means that you do not need a wireless adapter or a dedicated hard line. It was new to me and I was quite impressed. Tivo and Verizon both hit the mark with that one.

In short, if you like TV, get this box. The monthly service fee is not that different than what the cable companies charge and the box is so much better and less restricted than theirs.

After owning several digital camera's over the years and knowing how to operate them after only a couple of days it takes constant programming for every picture you take in order to get a good photo. This is not the camera for just grabbing and taking a photo. It requires thought and total concentration to just get an acceptable photo. I purchased my Sony Port/DVD Player a year ago from CC. Last week I had to take it in to CC to have it returned to Sony for repairs. It started to freeze up as another reviewer stated.

But we have run this thing like crazy for the last 12 months. Between my husband and I we have put at least 750 hours of viewing time into it before this problem occurred. Having purchased the extended maintenance program, if Sony can't fix it I get a new one. To me the price was well worth the enjoyment we have already received from this player, not to mention the future with the repaired/replaced unit. The screen is nice, but no where near as sharp as what you would find on the new X-brite VAIO's. I started receiving a "disc error" on all of my DVDs (which had previously worked with no problems) after six months of use. Unit was not overly used, just for the occassional weekend trip. The odd thing is that the unit still plays JPEG's & MP3's with not problems. Since this was a gift, I had no additional warranties purchased. After calling Sony support, I had a choice of getting an exchange at $33 or repair at $87. Sony support was helpful, but their automated voice robot "Max" is annoying.

I also have a Phillips DVD player that I bought in 1997 which has never given me a problem but it's not a portable. I own other Sony products and really enjoy them. I'm disappointed in this product and hope my replacement won't let me down. Sony stuff is nice, but you may be better off with a lower cost model should anything go wrong.

Used for approx. 50 hours over 5 months. Now constant freezing with any dvd or cd. It appears that this is a common problem with this unit. I can not recommend buying this player.

I purchased this product from amazon.com on December 27th, 2004 & I received it in mid January. I have used it to watch a couple of DVDs a week. Starting last month it began to have a problem playing DVDs. It will not play any DVD past a few minutes then it freezes. I'd suggest passing on this item since it seems to break after it is out of labor warranty. I can replace the unit for $33 with a factory refurbished unit or have mine repaired for $87.

Even though I had read about this problem on amazon.com, I assumed that maybe only a few units had this problem and that I would only be unlucky to have the same problem or that people had not been careful in their use of the DVD player. Either I'm just really unlucky or there is something wrong with the quality of this DVD player...My unit lasted only four months with careful use.

I received one of these as a gift. Took it out of the box, the DVD played for like 5 seconds, then it switched over to the blue screen of death and said DVD error. So we took it back and got a new one. Same thing happened. We tried half a dozen DVDs, no luck. I have a friend who has a portable DVD player who paid about $300 less than this one and hers works great! Go figure!

I have used several GPSs over the years and this one takes the cake. It went on a trip to Ireland the Scotland with me and performed so well I am thinking of new ways to push it to see where it might fail.

First it locked on just about anywhere, inside airports while in my luggage, inside the overhead bin on the plane while inside my luggage, inside cars while in my pants pocket, in buildings, in hotels, in pubs large and small. It locked on everywhere, and when it did not it just kept me in the same location until it did find a lock, meaning it did not show me bouncing all over the place when I was really just sitting still.

Secondly the software is OK, I did use it for downloading the data, setting up the GPS, exporting to GPX and Google Earth, and some preliminary review of the days events, but really that was it. So I cannot talk to how it does anything else, nor do I much care. It does what I needed it to do very well with no problems or complaints. I ran it on XP SP3 on 2 machines and it had no issues of any kind.

Thirdly it lasts FOREVER. I left it run almost 2 days, nearly 42 hours, before it died. 42 hours. That is amazing. Plus since it charges via USB I can charge it ANYWHERE. I can charge from my laptop, desktop, car charger, wall charger, even from those little engergizer 2xAA battery thingies. I even made a charger from a USB cable and a 4xAA battery holder. So I can charge this from rechargeable batteries as needed without connecting to my laptop.

Forthly it stores a lot of info. I have easily almost 2 weeks of time, in 1 minute increments about 10-16 hours a day, stored on here. You cannot erase from it , it just overwrites the old stuff, so I can see all the way back to when I first got it still, plus the 9 day Ireland/Scotland trip, plus all the flights to and from, plus misc playing around with it. It is all still on there. Amazing.

The one thing you really really really do have to do though if you plan to geotag photos, and I know you already know this but just listen anyways, is to sync the camera clock to GPS time (in your home timezone if possible). My camera time drifts, I had synced it before maybe 6 months ago when using the Garmin GPS around home, but I was 5 minutes off, which would be fine except that my shots of a given church were blocks away, my shots of the Cliffs of Moher are geotagged from the parking lot, etc until I corrected for the drift. There is no way to tell what time this GPS thinks it is, but since all GPS receivers use the same time it is a simple matter of syncing to any GPS or just to a reputable Stratum 1 or 2 time source online.

During a recent trip to Colorado and Wyoming I compared the BT-Q1000x with two other GPS Data Loggers. It's truly an amazing piece of equipment!

The good:

1. The GPS chipset is very sensitive. It even tracked my flight when placed in a pocket in my backpack that was in the overhead bin on the plane.

2. The battery life is advertised to be 40 hours. I tested it up to 20 hours and it still worked when two other units died due to exhausted batteries.

3. Moreover, the battery can be user-replaced as it is a standard Nokia cell phone battery.

4. There is a switch that you slide to switch the unit on and not a push button. No problem with accidental disconnections.

The bad:

1. Qstarz Travel Recorder software hangs a lot on my Vista 32-bit laptop computer.

2. QStarz Travel Recorder software is not very well designed as opposed to @Trip PC, a wonderful and mature product by a competitor that makes the IGotU units. Please note that it is very easy to export the tracks from Travel Recorder to the *.gpx format and import them to @Trip PC.

If someone found a better GPS Data Logger than the QStarz BT-1000x, please post in this thread.

Using Qstarz GPS tracker on a Mac:

All in all, I would not recommend buying a Qstarz to a Mac user until they come out with some functional Mac software it is way too complicated (and seems risky to me for the security of your system). It seems like a good GPS tracker and the Windows software might be good if it works, but for a Mac user, I don't think it's worth the hassle. It's taken me 2 full days of messing around with the system of my computer to be able to download the data, and I'm still missing out on a lot of the functionality. By the way, the windows program comes on a tiny CD about 3 inches wide and probably does not load into most computers. Also the "reference guide" included with the box is poorly translated and almost worthless. The actual GPS measurements seem to be rather consistently about 30 meters East of where they actually were taken, but other than that seem accurate. I wrote down what I can remember of getting this thing to work on a Mac for any one else who really wants to try. The open source BT747 program is what makes it all possible, and is a very useful and powerful program, in spite of the difficulty of actually installing it.

To Make Qstarz BT-Q1000X work on a Mac:

I strongly recommend reviewing the following web pages which probably explain most of the steps better than I do (but as I found out, also seem to leave some steps a little confusing, not that I can do it better):

1. (this step may not be required and is probably better not preformed unless Bluetooth does not work): download and install a USB driver: Mac_OSX_VCP_Driver (from: bt747.free.fr/content/?q=book/export/html/4 and follow the link to silabs.com VCP drivers); will require a restart. Note that this program will prevent you from ever using Fusion or Paralells on your Mac and should be removed if you need to use these. I think with Bluetooth, you will not need this USB driver and it is best to avoid this step.

2. Start up the Qstarz and set to NAV mode. Pair the Qstarz with Bluetooth in system preferences, using the advanced box and following the prompts. The Qstarz will only be momentarily connected, and then will disconnect after noting there are no services available. That's ok.

3. Start up your computer in admin user (assuming you have separate admin and user accounts if not then just use your normal acct);

open terminal and type in:

sudo mkdir /var/lock

it will then ask for your password; enter your admin password and "enter" (you will not see that the password is going in as the cursor will not move; I think that it just moves to the next line if the password was entered alright); then type in the following command and "enter" to make the locked shell globally writeable:

sudo chmod 777 /var/lock

(I have no idea what this does for the security of your system; as always, type those commands exactly without extra spaces). I think you can close the terminal then.

4. Down load and install the following program: "Install Desktop version of BT747" from "bt747.free.fr/content" and go to the "Download & Install Desktop" (above the "documentation" link which is also very useful) in the left upper hand sidebar, and from there click on the "Install the desktop version of BT747".

Note that the "download and install" appear to occur together and may hang several times, just click on the install program again until it completes. Agree to allow the program files (all of them) access to your computer once again I have no idea how serious of a threat to the security of your system this is. After all this the BT747 program should be open on your desktop.

5. Set your Qstarz GPS to "NAV", (make sure it has already been paired with Bluetooth in "system preferences"; at the bottom of the opening page (first tab "Log Operations"), at the bottom next to connect, move the option to "Bluetooth (for Mac)", and click on "connect". With any luck you should see information showing up in the upper right hand corner "GPS Device Data". That's good!

6. Now you can close the BT747. For some reason you will not be able to start it up again from it's icon in Applications, but will have to run the "BT747_J2SE_Install-jnlp" script again every time in order to start it up again it's much faster than the initial installation and does not download new files. The copy I use came from "sourceforge.net/projects/bt747/files/bt747/Latest/BT747" (I had version 1.68.25) download the full zip file, unzip it, open the folder and look for "BT747_J2SEInstall-jnlp". Copy this to wherever you want to keep it and can find it again (maybe in "Applications"). I have no idea why the "BT747 Desktop Latest" icon won't just start up like any other program.

7. At this point I would restart the computer, back into my normal user account; and restart the BT747 program via the "BT747_J2SEInstall-jnlp" script again. Make sure that you can connect to the Qstarz.

You will need to assign Places for the "Raw log file" and "Output Directory" in the upper left corners (I made separate folders in my home/Documents). I also made a separate folder for the "BT747_J2SEInstall-jnlp" script, and made an alias for it in either "Applications" or a place where I start up programs.

Now you can adjust the settings of the Qstarz itself, (it has many adjustable parameters which seem rather complicated to me, and is explained in the "bt747.free.fr/content/?q=book/export/html/4" on the documentation page well worth downloading!).

You can download the data also in BT747, but it only comes in as a .bin file. Sometimes it can be converted, but I can never manage to export that new file to anything useful in other programs. However, if it is successful at converting the data, you can see where you've been on a map, and the speed between points.

Each time you quit the BT747, you will need to start it up again via the "BT747_J2SE_Install-jnlp" script.

I use "HoudahGPS" for downloading the Qstarz logs in NMEA or GPX files (which is what I need to use for the Maperture program and I think most other geotagging programs); , without actually geotagging the photos there (which you could also do if needed, although the free version has a limit of 5 photos a time); however you cannot control the parameters of the Qstarz itself via HoudahGPS.

Be careful not to use both the BT747 and the HoudahGPS at the same time, or it is very difficult to reconnect with the Qstarz again in the future (try shutting down your computer, repairing the Bluetooth and Qstarz if you do by accident). I think you actually have to shut the Qstarz off after using either the HoudahGPS or the BT747 before you can use the other program.

I hope that all of this can be useful to you, sorry in advance about any points I've forgotten or if it doesn't work for you.

The Software is good, Installs and Loads OK, nice features including showing path taken on Google maps (nicely integrated with internet on-line maps and satelite pictures), and speed during the trip (Can click on speed vs distance graph, and it shows where on the map speed limit was violated). However if I leave the software running on my PC for an hour, Windows says it is taking too many resources, and it hangs/freezes.

Program allows pictures to be tagged with location and elevation, with an adjustment if needed for Camera and GPS times being offset.

The accuracy is good, It generally shows the exact parking space I was in, and which lane I'm driving on a wide street. However, If it sits in one spot for a few hours, it has occasional drift in calculated position, and looks like it is moving around the size of a soccer field, with an occational spot several blocks away, even with a view of the clear sky and good signal lock.

The device has a nice feature to save data space, with option to only record points if they exceed a certain distance or speed from earlier points. Data point entries can be also programed for variable time between points. Battery life is over 24 hours. Minor incovenience is the upload of the data log is slow, takes several minutes.

Blue Tooth allows this to work real time with my palm pilot and PC map programs when I'm driving. In addition to logging the route for later playback. The size is small and easy to fit in a pocket. Comes with USB cable, AC wall charger and 12V DC car charger. Printed documentation is OK but tiny font and black & White pictures, Better to read the documentation on the Disk (easier to read on the computer and is in color).

All in all, I'm glad I purchased this device. If they have software upgrades in the future to address consistant accuracy and S/W hanging, it would be 5 stars.

My goal was to get a GPS data logger for geotagging my photos when taking 1-2 week long trips. After comparing GPS data loggers for weeks, I finally settled on the Qstarz BT-Q1000x for several reasons:

-Highest accuracy with the MTKII chip

-Long battery life (rated for over 40 hrs, depending on which mode you run it).

-Replaceable battery (Uses standard Nokia cell phone battery readily available for less than $5 online)

-Locks on to satellites quickly (my old Garmin eTrex would take several minutes when sitting under the open sky. This unit locks within a few seconds *indoors*)

FORM & FUNCTION:

Less than 2.5" on the long side, this unit is smaller than my Sony Ericsson cellphone. A rubber back allows it to sit conveniently on my dash but it operates just as well in my car's cup holder or in the recesses of my camera bag.

It operates in two tracking modes: logging and bluetooth+logging.

* The logging feature simply records location+elevation at specified intervals. This can be changed by software on the PC to record at time intervals or distance intervals or time and distance intervals ("every 15 seconds or 30 meters"). The unit can *track* 5 times per second (Hz), but will not *LOG* 5Hz. So if you're wanting a unit that will record your skydive or rollercoaster ride, this is not your unit.

* Bluetooth+logging allows your bluetooth PC (or PDA) to connect to the unit and use it as the GPS for your mapping/navigation software. I bought a $3 bluetooth USB dongle and had no problem getting the Q1000x to connect to my Microsoft Streets & Trips via bluetooth and show me exactly where my desktop PC was located (as if I didn't know already :)

* Pressing the Waymark button will record a waymark in the log.

* You can tether the unit to your PC or PDA with a USB cable. Bluetooth is an option, not a requirement.

OPERATION:

Turning the unit on and tossing it into the glovebox lets me track the car's location as I drive around. Doing the glovebox test was important to me as I want a unit that can track where my tour bus might take me when touring foreign countries. The unit would occasionally take a minute or so to get its first fix, but so far, I've not noticed any serious issues with losing fix.

SOFTWARE:

There's lots to mention here, but the main thing that I liked is that I point the software to a directory of photos, and it searches that directory and all directories under it to find photos with the appropriate time stamp in the EXIF. It then plots out my trip on a scaleable map (Google Maps, Google Earth, etc), with the photos in place. It even gives me a "play" button that plays a cursor along the trip line. It also allows me to export the trip, with photos, in a set of HTML files so I can upload the whole trip to my website.

For details, download the manual off the website because there is a lot of info for this plain-looking unit. It goes well beyond my expectations and is well worth the $105 I spent for it.

I understand the iBlue 747+ is an identical unit, but doesn't include the software. For me, the software is well worth the extra $20.

You know those days when something interesting happens and you wish you had a camera at the moment it happens? This little video cam comes to the rescue. I primarily use it as a dash cam. It's tiny size can be hung from the headliner and not be in the line of your vision. It has a wide angle view which will give a full view of both sides of the road in front of you. The video quality is very good for the small "spy camera" that it is. Very satisfactory video quality.

You'll find in some of the reviews that some people do not like the sound quality. When you use it as a dash cam, you will get some road noise. That can't be avoided. But have the cam set alone, hidden in a corner of a room, the sound quality will be just fine.

The approximate power duration for the rechargable battery is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Perfect for any short road trip. Be it your car, your motorcycle or bycycle. The kit included has the oppropriate mounts for your needs.

The videos are easily accessable to your computer.

The manual is my only gripe. The print is very small and in broken english. I searched google for a self help video. That worked out fine.

I recomend this cam to anybody who wishes for low-buck video dash cam. You just never know when something interesting is going to happen at any given time.

only thing I found to dislike about this little camera is that it is a little hard to point until you get use to it and secondly it should have a little wider angle lens. Other then that this little gem does the job its intended for.

This works great for the most part...video is average and audio is just so-so. The instructions were written by a first-grader though..they are horrible to understand! You basically just have to play around with it and figure it out..for $16 though its still worth it. The 'auto record' feature is nice as it records only once it detects audio, and works fairly well

Brinno TLC100 Time Lapse HD Video Camera

While I have successfully captured fantastic videos with 5 minutes between snapshots and 30 minutes, I have only a 67% success rate. 2 of the 6 videos came out all black. 70MB file, all black, 240 MB file, all black.... I cant figure out why this happened, but it certainly is something to be wary of if you are capturing once in a lifetime events.

Great little time lapse camera.

The camera is so easy to set up and begin time lapse photography.

The camera comes with a flash drive that has two programs.

1. A .exe camera set-up file. This will allow you to set the local date and time and a few simple camera settings. Outdoor/or indoor lighting? Compensates for fluorescent lights, incandescent or none (outdoors). Low light on/off? This is so it doesn't take pictures in complete darkness. It also allows for one custom time interval for time lapse picture taking. NOTE: You can't use a Mac to tweak a .exe file (without running windows on a Mac).

2. A simple video viewer program to view the time lapse video created by the camera. The camera creates .avi format files. They can be viewed on a PC using the Brinno program. It will also allow you to move through the video file one still picture at a time. I haven't figured out how to take one or several still pictures out of the .avi file for use as separate pictures. You don't have to use the Brinno software to view the .avi file. Almost any program capable of viewing video files should work. Quicktime works too.

NOTE: Each time you turn the camera on/off it will create a separate .avi time lapse video. This means that you will need to be familiar with how to use a video editing software program to combine the files into one longer/complete video. This is important if you are planning on a long project (home construction). I'm currently practicing with iMovie to combine the .avi files, adjust timing, add music, trailers, etc. It is simple to move the files from the flash drive via Mac/Finder or Windows/Explorer.

We recently purchased this camera to create a time lapse video of our house being built. Right out of the box, it was very simple to use. It only took a couple minutes to take our first photos. The software was just as easy, so viewing our first attempt was also user friendly. We have not used it outdoors for any prolong period of time; this with be an important test for us, as we hope to leave it outside for several weeks. But my first impressions are really favorable and I believe it will continue to perform well.

Not a bad camera but...

You have to set the Time and Date EVERY time you are going to use it. AT the time you are going to use it.

You have to take the Thumb Drive out Set the Thumb Drive and put it in and Start it right away.

Seems they were sure anyone that is, or would be using this camera would be setting up the Thumb drive and would be placing it straight from Laptop to the Camera and then turning the Camera On.

If you wait 30 minutes, your pictures will be 30 minutes behind.

The time is stamped on or from the thumb drive not the camera. Just annoying if you ask me.

And meant for NOTHING but MOUNTED, LONG TERM Captures.

Update 2/26/13

I would not recommend this product IF you appreciate good design leading to good output. The camera does what it was intended to do, mostly, but it is not an easy path the user must take to get there. For example, the lack of a viewfinder makes framing the scene a hit-and-miss proposition as you must set it up, take a shot or two, review the shots, set it back up, wash, rinse repeat. Also, to change the rate at which shots are taken means you have to take off the back cover, remove the USB stick and use a thumbwheel; or plug the USB stick into your computer and have the software set the rate. Even then you have to move the thumbwheel to the "custom" setting, replace the USB stick and mount the rear cover, and THEN turn it back on. Finally, as I noted before, it is sometimes difficult to know whether you even turned the camera on and it is taking shots. More than once I was disappointed to discover that there was nothing on the USB stick. I'm just not impressed with this product AT THE PRICED I BOUGHT IT. If it were $50 then I could more easily forgive poor design. I"m dropping this item from 3 stars to 2.

I literally just got it out of the box, set it up and it's now (hopefully) recording. That was all very easy and I think they did a great job of packaging and including the batteries and USB stick. However, see a couple of design flaws:

1. No viewfinder. As someone mentioned in another review, this might be a serious limitation. I've got an idea of what I'm capturing but there's no way to know until I grab the USB stick and plug it into my laptop. We'll see if this is a fatal flaw.

2. There's no way to know (that I know of) if it's actually recording. It would be nice to have it beep or make some noise or something. As it is now, I have it set on my office's window sill pointing out to the forest so I have no way of seeing the LED on the front. I guess I'll find out in a few minutes.

I will update this review as I gain more experience with it. I hope it's a good replacement for my DSLR as I hate to "waste frames" doing time lapse with it and an intervalometer.

Since the DVD-RP82s is not featured for write up, I will use it's cousin, which coincidently does have the exact same problem.

The unit itself is slim and sharp looking. The picture and sound quality are exceptional, certainly better than anything I have ever seen from many other units.

Panasonic seems to have one very serious flaw. It's complete inability to function when confronted by interactivity laced DVD movies. I can provide two solid examples of where this can be seen. On any InfiniFilm film, such as Austin Powers Goldmember or Rush Hour 2. Also, the Ken Burns Baseball series. The common denominator of these offerings are their on-screen interactivity. In the case of InfiniFilm, you are given two options. To watch the film alone, or to watch the film with Infinifilm interactivity. Regardless of whatever you select, the Panasonic units cripple themselves whenever a section of the movie, which is Infinifilm coded, appears. Sure, you are watching just the film, but Infinifilm is overlayed on top. The Panasonic units cannot pause, forward, reverse, just about anything except STOP does not function. You are greeted with a wonderful rejection signal on the top right corner of your screen.

In the Ken Burns Baseball series, the appearance of the PBS logo at the bottom left corner, which indicates interactivity to a players baseball card profile. Once again, the Panasonic unit crippled itself and simply could not get over the hurdle of interactivity laced in the feature itself.

Sure, there are ways around this...Stop or quick replay will usually eliminate the interactive internal signal that the unit seemingly cannot remove or get around. But why should you have to?

I have tried these very films/features on other comparable units and have not experienced this problem. I tried many other identical Panasonic units at the Best Buy, which endeared me to them, I'm certain. All 6 units failed in this most basic premise of DVD's...Interactivity.

I have contacted Panasonic and they deny all such claims and state that their units do function as others do. When I explained to them that I tried 6 different units and my own, all with the identical flaw...They denied it to even be a flaw and that it was a problem with the media. When I explained that I tried over a dozen other units with said media and all experienced no such problems, I was told that it was still a media problem.

I am writing this review to warn you all about a flaw and problem with the Panasonic units. It may not seem like an awful lot, but trust me, when you have to take a bio-break in the middle of one of these movies/features and you cannot pause your unit...You will understand that this is not a normal function.

The picture and sound are exceptional, but the flaw is a show-stopper. The future indicates more interactivity in DVD's. If Panasonic cannot handle the most basic, you can only imagine how frustrated you will be in future when all DVD's are programmed this way.

You've probably already read the other review of the RP62 and been impressed by its technical guts and its impressive list of features. I'm going to run down the more experiential features of this DVD player.

First things First

At the time of this writing, you aren't going to get this player for less than... I even tried price-matching at Sears, but couldn't find a cheaper price (by the way, if Sears carries it, they will price-match Internet prices!!!). The cons I've listed really aren't that big of a deal -all DVD players take a few seconds to load the DVDs, the display isn't really that hard to read and the clock thing just doesn't matter. All in all the unit rocks.

First Impressions and Installation

I have an HDTV-ready widescreen TV (Panasonic PT-47WX49 which I highly recommend, got it at Sears for....), so I wanted a progressive scan player. When I took the RP62 out of the box, it felt really light, and the case isn't 16 gauge steel -it's plastic, thus the light weight. I figured after spending close to... the thing would feel substantive, but Panasonic obviously put the money to better use on the performance.

After taking it out, I realized that there was two cables -power and a combo 3 RCA (video, 2 audio) cable. I kept looking for a decent cable to use for my progressive scan output, but to no avail. Luckily I had a cable that would suffice.

My biggest problem to begin with was that the RP62 out of the box only operates in analog (S-VIDEO or RCA), so you have to hook it up to your non-component input on your TV first. I didn't know this, so it took me about 45 minutes to finally get the unit pumping out a progressive signal. Once that was fixed, it was time to play.

Calibration

I never had a widescreen TV before, so I got the Avia Home Theater Guide to set up my TV. Complex menus, lots of levels. The player was able to do everything on the disc flawlessly. I didn't really change anything on the DVD player beyond the progressive out setting.

First Movies

Wow! The Matrix is one of my favorite movies, and the reproduction was amazing! I got the Matrix on DVD back in late 1999 or early 2000, so it is one of the first prints. Later I watched Jimmy Neutron. Everyone says how amazing the picture will be if you are watching it on a wide-screen progressive scan TV. Well, they weren't lying. The color reproduction was amazing. Movement was crisp and fluid, blacks were black and whites were white, as they should be.

I also burned a CD full of MP3s (156 of them, all at varying and variable bit rates) and played it at a party. The player nicely randomized all of the tracks, and displayed the ID3 Artist and Title tracks on the video out. It didn't have any problems playing VBR or high bit-rate MP3s. Pretty darn cool.

In the first fast forward level, it plays the video at 2x speeds but also plays the audio. It's not a perfect reproduction, but a nice feature for those who don't have a lot of time to watch a whole movie!

When you turn the unit off, the video out fades out, which is a cool little effect. Not a feature I'd buy on, but cool nonetheless.

Small Annoying Things

Every good thing has its bad sides. Granted, this player doesn't have many, but there are a few.

First, every time you use a DVD for non-16:9 content, a message pops up on the screen telling you that the content is 4:3. Ok, I don't care. Maybe I can turn those messages off, but I haven't found a way yet, and maybe you can't. But they can be just a tiny bit annoying.

Next, on MP3 playback, the display only shows the time, whereas the MP3 info is displayed on the video out. This is OK if you have a direct-view TV, but for rear-projection TVs, that kind of constant, non-moving video can cause burn-in. I'd like to see the MP3 info displayed on the LCD on the front, the big DVD logo gone after 1 minute of MP3 play, and the info window to move around on the screen. Heck, build in a nice WinAmp like screensaver! :-)

Last, the documentation that comes with this amazing little device is lacking. I'd like to see a whole book on all the cool features of my DVD player, but Panasonic seems to have spent the money more on the features in the player than explaining them in a manual, which is OK with me.

A Ton Of Positive Energy

Panasonic has a great, responsive tech support. I called about my installation issue and, though I got it fixed before they got on the phone, no more than 5-10 minutes was spent on hold or getting routed to the right place. For a company as big as Panasonic, I was impressed. The people also know enough about their products to help the simple to semi-difficult issues.

For the money, the quality of this and a lot of other Panasonic electronics is really amazing. I've had a Panasonic shelf stereo since 1992, and it still works great 10 years later after lots of college abuse and 7 moves!

So who is this really for?

This is one of the better, low-end progressive-scan DVD players on the market right now. Audio/Videophiles will find the quality, video and audio reproduction more than acceptable at this price level. Casual electronic enthusiasts with a nice progressive-scan-capable TV will really enjoy both the video and audio output of this device. People considering getting a nicer TV in the future will find this device a solid investment, and a great player until then.

Not ever going to get a progressive-scan-capable TV? Not going to use the MP3/WMA/VCD/SVCD capabilities? Have a 13-inch TV? This is probably more than you need to be spending on a DVD player! There are decent, sub....DVD players on the market that will suit you just fine. But for those of you that want progressive scan, amazing image reproduction with very few (unnoticeable to the untrained eye) flaws, the ability to play practically any CD or DVD, and the features (Zoom, enhanced Bass, virtual surround sound, quick replay, audio fast forward), you can't get a better DVD player. Buy this one!

I bought this on Fri and love it. It is one of the first players that plays mp3s randomly. (Push random button 1st, then play button next.) You can also search through the mp3 song, which alot of other mp3 players cannot.

The menu for the mp3 is excellent. You can take your favorite group, create folders for each album, and then burn them all onto one CD...and the Panasonic DVD player will group the files as folders. Its obvious there was alot of thought that was put into the MP3 process. Something that has been lacking with other companies.

The dvd has been good. The usual good picture and sound. Remote is no big deal. Its useful.

Drawbacks-

You cannot change to random mode mid playing. You must stop cd first

Macrovision and cannot change regions

No DVD-audio or SACD

When mp3 or cds are playing, it would be nice if it had a screensaver type mode with different images.

All in all, great stuff

After much research, I bought this DVD Player (DVD-RP62S), and I haven't regretted it. It is an excellent DVD player for the money. Plus, it plays all the format's including those beat up DVD disks from the rental store. Some other brands won't play disks with even minor damage. The picture quality is outstanding, and the player is easy to set up. I highly recommend it.

I was pleased with a friend of mine that got a Panasonic DVD player. I bought this player brand new. The manufacture is Sept. of 2002. I think I got it between Thanksgiving and Christmas that year. I liked it to some degree. However agreed with others that the buttons are small and hard to find. It was about 6 months ago that I started noticing the picture was not as sharp as it was. The moving pictures would get "lines" in them like it was interference or something. This was very noticeable when I would pause, FF, RW, or stop the movie. It was like it was having trouble "tracking" the object(s) on the screen. I have a brand new digital big screen TV so I know that was not the problem. Then just tonight I was watching a movie and it just stopped. I hit the eject button and nothing would happen. I then had to turn the unit off and then back on. It was not overheating or hot to the touch. It kept seeing error H07. I followed the instructions to how to clear the issue up and that did not help. Now I am in the market, even more so, for another DVD player. After reading all the other reviews on the H07 error that others are getting, I am to know I am not the only one with that issue. It might be just a matter of time before the other DVD players would come up with the same problem. Maybe they would not do that at all. I know that I am not the only one that got a defective DVD player after three years it died. I will have my funeral for it and go replace it ASAP. I do not think that I would get another of this brand however.

Tivo Series 2 Replacement Remote Control

If you're used to using a standard Tivo Series 2/3 remote, this one will take a little getting used to. The TV Power and TV Input buttons are below the Instant Replay and Skip buttons instead of in the upper left corner of the keypad, and the Window/Aspect button is moved up to where the TV Power button should be. The slider normally used to switch between controlling 2 Tivos selects between controlling the Tivo and controlling the TV (which means only that the Channel Up/Down button controls the TV tuner when the slider is pushed to the right.) You actually can control two Tivos with this remote but it's complicated; you must reprogram the remote each time you want to switch devices. This product does, however, control the TiVo without requiring you to point the emitter directly at the DVR and all other keys have familiar positions and functions.

I bought this not knowing if it would work with my Direct TV Tivo box. It works perfectly, if anything my Tivo seems a bit more responsive to remote commands. This remote is a metallic grayish=silver not the black as pictures.

This was a great value @ $9.99 compaired to prices double that and more on Ebay at the time.

I ordered this "replacement remote" for my Tivo....but it doesn't work. You can't read the numbers on it and even though it listed it to be in good condition, it most definately wasn't. Guess I learned a valuable lesson...ask for better pictures!

My husband uses these DVD's to save our recordings of our daughter, and found that they are a decent, economical alternative to buying the Sony brand mini-DVD's. We have to record on the highest quality setting, and there is slight graininess compared to the Sony product, but is negligible considering the price difference. Would recommend to those looking for a good (but not perfect) quality DVD to store a high volume of recordings.

If that's what you're planning on using them for, they work... kind of. Not great, not reliably, but they do technically work. Just, be sure to buy extra to account for mistakes, and to use decent software for burning, the first few programs I tried all choked on the write speed, defaulting to one that either the disk didn't support, or the game can't run at.

Laser POT adjustment is a non-issue, though.

This woks as well as the original Sony mini DVD's on my Sony camcorder only is does give me a message saying this is not original use original sony media but still after that msg it works well with out paying for the Sony name brand. I got no coasters.

These are good discs. I noticed my burner didn't stop me from burning an over-size image, so make sure what you want to burn will fit. Cases and sleeves are hard to find cheap.
