Verbatim CompactFlash 2GB Memory Card (47012)

Verbatim CompactFlash 2GB Memory CardHow many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Verbatim 2GB CompactFlash Memory Card, like most 2000MB cards, will store on average 2275 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 1706 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 1024 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 819 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 640 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

One last thing to consider when buying a 2000MB card. Do not necessarily choose the least expensive card available. A 2000MB card should be an investment. You need to consider quality, reliability, and speed with a card of this capacity. Worse case scenario would be you taking this card (and only this card) on vacation with you overseas and for some reason it gets corrupted. Then what do you do? Purchasing a high capacity card changes the game a little, just be mindful of that before you hit the buy button.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

iriver IFP-180T 128 MB Flash MP3 Player

iriver IFP-180T 128 MB Flash MP3 Player
  • Integrated digital FM tuner with presets
  • Exclusive Record from FM feature lets you store and play back special radio programming
  • Supports MP3, WMA and ASF music files
  • Up to 20 hours playback on a single AA battery
  • Built-in Voice Recorder

It's at an amazing price since it's being phased out, yet I would recommend getting it. The sound quality is excellent, particularly the quality of the voice recordings, which are amazing -far better than on any non-iRiver units. If you want to use it to capture class or meeting notes, you'll be able to strain less and hear more with this unit.

Yes, capacity is limited, but I don't care, since I just need enough variety to get through a workout, and I fill it with songs I love anyway. Will it start to break in 2-3 years as others suggest? Probably, but if so, it's been a great player for $1.50 a month. Come on...after two years, the new players will be so much better that you'll put this in a drawer even if it's still working perfectly!

This is my first MP3 player and I did not know what to expect. All I can say is "AWESOME"! It is very tiny, light weight and has great fidelity. The controls are a little intimidating at first, but are no problem once you go through the instructions a time or two. The earphones are fine, no need to throw these away like on so many other units. The FM works great. I am getting stations from 50-75 miles away. The FM sound quality is outstanding as is the MP3 player. I also found that the memory storage is adequate, at least for me. I can load about 30 songs or about 2 hours of music. That is more than I would care to listen to at one time. Since the software is easy to use, it is a piece of cake to load the new music for variety. I have had a few problems with the software on Windows 98 SE.

Iriver stays on top of their software and are constantly updating. The firmware is updateable so your unit will stay up with any changes or improvements. You also get a one year warranty while many of the MP3 players only get 90 days.

I am more than pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it. It looks great, sounds great and the price is great!

I have owned this mp3 palyer for over a year now and would like to say this I am happy with it. There are a few problems but if you are willing to overlook those, then it's a great little product.

Pros Great Sound. Good battery life. Can store approximately 20-23 (128 kbps encoded) mp3 files. Plays .wma and .asf files too. Has built in equilizer settings and you can create your own eq settings as well. Backlit display is good. FM tuner is good and you can record from it. Built-in voice recorder is a great feature. I can record upto 2 hours and the quality is great. You can also convert whatever you record into mp3 files using the iRiver Music Manager. For Windows XP users, you can download a UMS driver for this which will make it appear as another drive on your system and then you can use it like any other USB storage device.

Cons Do not use this while exercising. A slight shock will open up the battery cover and the battery will slip out. This usually happens over a period of time. There are many features and navigating through all can take some time. The display is very small.

I purchased this player about 2 years ago. It has stood up to all the abuse I have put it through. It has unbelievable sound, and cannot be beat.

A nice buy, considering the price and quality sound. Overall I became a big fan of iRiver players after this and bought a higher memory size. Highly recommend it for budget buyers.

As for Cons the USB cable is a drag. I have a creative Muvo also and it can be plugged straight into the USB jack. Organizing play lists needs to get better.

Safety Technology HC-STICK Stick Hidden Camera with Built-in DVR and Audio

Safety Technology HC-STICK Stick Hidden Camera with Built-in DVR and AudioI am still not sure enough as of yet and still trying out. The size is slim and small like a remote. The little I did tape worked well. The instructions were a little hard to follow and not large print or a easy read. The price was great. I may order another item like it, that I can do more with. You need to be able to film outdoors and inside but not have it be noticed. If your trying to catch someone doing something they should not be or hidden security. Amazon the place to look. They are nifty that way.

This DVD player system is a good deal for the money. We have used it on several trips with no issues.

Some drawbacks are needing to take it out of the headrest mount to change disks and a shared Video In/Out.

I would recommend this system to someone wanting a system for occasional use.

I'm still amazed its working. My daughter has had it for 3 years now and it still works fine. She had dropped it a number of times, the face is scratched, BUT it still works. We bought it for her first plane ride when she was 18 months and now she is four and still loves to use it in the car or on her lap. Going to buy another one soon since she has a little brother now and you can hook them together in the car.

Got what I paid for and more!

I read the reviews of the other Coby products but thought since this was a newer version that the kinks would have been worked out. I took it out of the box and plugged it in to the wall. It worked fine that time. Then I hooked it up in my car, and the second monitor wouldn't work. There was only sound and no picture. I'm going to spend the extra money and get a better brand. We bought this to use on vacation for the kids and I'm so glad I got it in time to check it out before we left! I won't bother with anymore Coby products.

DIGITAL PERIPHERAL SOLUTIONS Q-SEE 8CH H.264 DVR CIF/D1 REC PERP MAC OS COMP 1TB HDD SUPP(2) 2TB HDDI spent 30 hours testing all the features. This thing is great. Alarm, snaps, audio, backup, configurable motion zones, email, dynamic dns, works through firewall as DMZ, Android support is awesome although I hope it gets upgraded to D1 eventually. Scheduling is very flexible, customizable recording quality. Easy firmware upgraded. I put this thing through the paces and it never crashed, exactly the what I would expect from a security device. Was a bit overkill actually, 30 fps for D1 running 24/7 will not sustainable.

Mini Gadgets Inc. CL640 Covert Calculator Camera with DVR

Mini Gadgets Inc. CL640 Covert Calculator Camera with DVRI ordered this unit several weeks ago it was delivered in good time, package contained calculator, USB cord, battery and an absolutely useless user manual, I contacted seller and he offered to exchange unit or give me a refund, but what I really wanted was a readable operators manual. I finally came across a video on this same unit which gave wonderful direction: The unit works as described and i am now satisfied.

I ordered a new one and this one has marks on the inside were the battery goes. It looks like someone tried to get the battery out with a screw driver. Also the directions suck and are so nonspecific that the only way to figure it out is to play around with it. This is not cool.

Impecca 2GB MP3 Player with Digital Voice Recorder - MP1202FK - Black

Impecca 2GB MP3 Player with Digital Voice Recorder - MP1202FK - Black
  • In the Box - MP3 Player, Earphones, USB Cable, 1 AAA BatteryFeatures
  • Easy Access Voice Recording Button
  • WMA/MP3 Format Support
  • Hold Button
  • 7 Preset EQ Selections/7 Repeat Functions

I got this for work so I could make audio notes The recorder quality is easily 5/5, but the buttons are hard to handle. You have to push very hard and in the correct order. There are only two buttons and you have to press them in a strange order to get the proper action; it took me awhile to get the rhythm down.

They're also supposed to send a battery with it, but the one I received was crusty and the seller never responded to my email. Not a big deal, but I was a little frustrated. The quality for recording is great, but I don't really think it's much of an mp3 player.

You are better off humming to yourself than buying this MP3 player. This piece of trash has already stolen too much of my time, so I'm just going to list my complaints.

Unit requires a AAA battery that it shipped with. It's a shame that battery was correded when I opened the package.

The battery I DID put in was a new Duracell which lasted less than 24 hours. Yes, dead as a doornail Christmas morning. Yes, I am smart enough to have turned the unit off before wrapping it.

The unit identified itself to Windows Media player but then wouldn't play the songs in the "format" they transfered in. Turns out that "format" meant the folders the Impecca created to store the music.

The unit only allowed me to move the files one at a time from the /artis/album_name folders it created to the main menu. I could not delete the folders and start over until I deleted all the contents. Again, bulk delete would not work. Once it became obvious I would have to delete every song one at a time I decided to just move them, one at a time, to the main index.

Once you are in 'voice record' mode you are stuck. There is no option to go back to the main menu. Removing the battery for a minute or so and then restoring was the only option I could find.

I think that's it . . .

This is really a piece of junk. It is as if the makers failed to program it as none of the TWO buttons on the whole thing seem to do anything you want it to. I loaded it and put some songs on it and took it on a run to listen. I could not get it to play into the tracks, it just kept going to voice recorder.

It is a piece of junk in my kitchen junk drawer now. Not to mention it needs battries.

I went to Circuit City yesterday to purchase the Panasonic DMP-BD30K Blu-Ray Player. As the salesman showed me where the Blu-Ray players were located in the store I told him I was interested in the DMP-BD30K. His response was that I should consider the new Sony BDP-S350 instead. He claimed that the BDP-S350 had received great reviews and is a better player than the Panasonic DMP-BD30K. Usually I don't listen to anything the sales people at Circuit City say, but this time I decided to see if he knew what he was talking about. I did some quick research online, while in the store, and discovered that he was correct about the Sony receiving decent reviews. I had my mind set on the Panasonic DMP-BD30K after months of research and waiting until the price dropped below $300, so the prospect of the Sony BDP-S350 through me for a loop. I decided to purchase both players, try then both out, and then return the looser.

I have to admit that the results surprised me. As I said before I had my heart set on the Panasonic DMP-BD30K, but after installing the 2 players and carefully comparing their image quality and features the Sony BDP-S350 is the clear winner in my opinion.

Panasonic DMP-BD30K: (Profile 1.1)

The start up time was respectable (as the reviews I had read indicated) and the menu interface was straight forward and relatively easy to navigate. After setting up the player, my first test was to compare its ability to upconvert standard definition DVDs with my now obsolete Toshiba HD-A20 HD-DVD player. I had read online that the DMP-BD30K's upscaling abilities had something to be desired and my tests confirmed this. To be honest the results were a little disappointing. Next, I decided to move through the players setup menu and change a few settings. At this point I made another disappointing discovery. If for any reason you need to access the players setup menu while you are watching DVD or Blu-Ray disc the player will not remember where you left off. When you exit the menu and resume play, the disc will start playing from the beginning of the disc. Although accessing the setup menu looses your place on the disc the Panasonic does remember where you left off if the DVD is stopped or the the player is shut down and then turned on again. Other than these criticisms the DMP-BD30K is a very nice player that yields excellent results using Blu-Ray discs, but doesn't do a great job with SD DVDs.

Sony BDP-S350: (Profile 1.1, but soon to be updated via firmware to 2.0)

The Sony player was a pleasant surprise. The start up time was very respectable, and was comparable to the Panasonic DMP-BD30K. After setting up the player I proceeded to run the same tests that I ran on the Panasonic. I had read online that people were impressed with the BDP-S350's upconvertion abilities, but having owned multiple Oppo DVD players (in my opinion, some of the best out there) I was skeptical. I put in a SD DVD and could immediately see the improvement over the Panasonic. Although the image is a little softer compared to my obsolete Toshiba HD-A20 HD-DVD player, and my other Oppo DVD players, it was still excellent. It made the Panasonic's upscaling abilities seem unrefined and outdated. Next, I then jumped into the players setup menu and changed the players output resolution. What really amazed me was that when I exited the menu the player began playing my disc where I had left off. Finally, I tried powering the BDP-S350 down while in the middle of a DVD. When I powered the player back on it remembered where I had left off and began to play the disc. The Sony BDP-S350 seems the winner in my opinion due to its superior upconversion and disc playback memory.

Finally, I wanted to add that I read a review comparing the Sony BDP-S350 to the new Panasonic DMP-BD50K that declares the DMP-BD50K the winner (http://hdguru.com/first-review-of-sonys-latest-blu-ray-player-exclusive-sony-bdp-s350-vspanasonic-dmp-bd50/256/). This may be true, but the almost $300 price difference makes me feel that this is an unfair comparison. In my opinion, the Sony BDP-S350 is currently one of the best deals out there.

I take my home theater hobby pretty seriously, that's why when it came time to invest in a Blu-Ray player (finally the wait is over!!!), I did a ridiculously great amount of research. I was willing to spend much more money on a blu-ray player, but the prices have come down so much, you don't have to! I narrowed down my extensive search for the right player to the Panasonic DMP-BD35K and the Sony BDP-S350. **I BOUGHT THEM BOTH AND DID A "SIDE-BY-SIDE" TEST!**

I have some nice equipment, so I feel that the test was an excellent representation of the capabilities of these two players. My equipment includes a 100-inch Stewart screen with a 1080p Sony Pearl front projector, an Integra 9.8 DTC processor (with all the latest surround sound goodies), an NAD amp, 7 Paradigm Signature speakers, and a dual M&K subwoofer (for full 7.1 surround sound).

I do understand electronics, but the Sony manual was really hard to follow. After only one call to Sony, I eventually got the player set up properly. After I set up the Panasonic, everything became much clearer. The Panasonic manual is so much better. But, who really cares about manuals? How do these two players perform side by side?

Audio for BOTH Blu-ray discs and standard DVDs: The Panasonic unquestionably has better audio. Compared to the Sony, the highs were much clearer. The 7.1 surround sound put me right in the middle of the "explosion" (my first test blu-ray disc was National Treasure I) when the Charlotte blew up. The biggest Audio difference was the bass. The bass in the Panasonic was so much better than the Sony. In fact, my old Sony standard-DVD player had better audio than the Sony BDP-S350. I'd give the Sony 3 stars with the audio. The Panasonic had outstanding treble, bass, and surround: 5-star audio!

Video for BOTH Blu-ray discs and standard DVDs: The Sony's video was ok, but the Panasonic's video was fantastic. The skin tones were more realistic and the colors were more vibrant with the Panasonic. The Sony seemed to have a thin gray film over everything -like looking through a filmy-dirty window. The Sony had 4-star video, the Panasonic and its upscaling gets an easy 5 stars!

Both my wife and I did the "side-by-side" test by going back and forth between Blu-Ray discs and standard DVDs. We didn't discuss any of our thoughts until we each independently formed our own conclusions. After seeing and hearing both players, we were both in complete agreement that in every way the Panasonic DMP-BD35K was superior to the Sony BDP-S350.

By the way, the card slot on the Sony for BD-Live is very hard to get to. I do like Sony as a brand for some things, but not Blu-Ray players.

Also, to save you some research time, I've already checked out all of the professional reviews including the ones on CNet.com: The Sony is considered ok, and CNet liked the Panasonic so much that it is the first Blu-Ray player EVER to receive CNet's "Editor's Choice Award."

I have to go to the store now and return the Sony player that I bought. I'm keeping the Panasonic!! :-)

Hopefully you found this review helpful!

My previous Blu-ray player was a Sony until late last year when I purchased a Panasonic DMP-BD30 which had all the latest profile upgrades. The biggest problem with the Sony was its slow loading time.

With the BDP-S350, this has all changed for the better. Load time have vastly improved and it is a Profile 2.0 player. Picture quality is stunning, but most Blu-ray players display this picture.

One of the best features of this player is its size. Sony has been able to reduce the size of the player to just over a 2" height and only 8-3/4" deep. Sony's previous model was nearly 15" deep and just over 3" high.

Finally Sony adds a remaining time function to the display. Previous models only had a elapsed and total time display, so you had to do the remaining time in your head. Most Sony DVD players always had this function, but this is a first for their Blu-ray players.

Main complaint I have with this unit (a minor one) is that you cannot turn off Sony's GUI control panel (Xross Media Bar) over the desktop pattern--it is always on unless you are playing a disc. I use this player with a front projector and it looks tacky for guests seeing my control panel over the desktop. Sony didn't do this with their DVD players, so why do it with this new technology? About the only time you even need to use the GUI is when you are setting up the unit or add new equipment to the player.

All in all, Sony did a great job with this player. It's easy to set up and offers an outstanding picture.

Want Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Discount?

I purchased my BDP-S350 from Sony Style web site. This is my first BD player. I was waiting for the format war to end once it did I read a column by David Pouge in the New York Times that said you might consider waiting to making the jump to BD until the next generation of players to come out on the market.

This one loads pretty fast. From what I read it is much faster then older models. I was upgrading coming from a Sony 5 disc up converting DVD player and that thing was slow so I'm very satisfied. The picture is awesome and the audio is great too. I don't even have it connected to a amp that does Dolby Tru-HD or DTS-MA. That will be my next purchase.

There is only one thing that I'm disappointed with the player has the Bravia Theater Sync feature. Which works great with my Sony amp. But for some reason the DVD remote will only control the volume for the TV not the amp. So I still have to use a second remote for volume on my Sony amp. This makes no sense to me.

We watched Batman Begins, Mission Impossible III, and the Bucket List on BD so far. Batman Begins was jaw dropping good from an audio and picture quality issue. My wife said she had no clue that a DVD could look that good.

I also watched Stop Loss on a SD DVD and that look pretty good too.

The DVD player has a slot in the back for a USB drive and it also has a ethernet port so it can connect to the net for firmware updates and to access bonus features.

There is another model the S-550 due out in the fall it will cost more but it decodes all the audio inside the player.

Overall a week in I'm happy with the purchase and I'm happy I waited for this model.

Ok,my HD player of choice was HD DVD. I own about 100 HD DVD disks. These players were far less expensive than Sony Blu Ray. The movies were generally less expensive than Blu Ray. HD DVD had more features, easy to update on line, less expensive...easy choice. The dreaded evil Sony corporation was not going to get my business.

When Toshiba pulled their product after the major studios dropped them, I was shocked and annoyed. What did evil Sony do to get the others to drop them?

After the demise, Sony showed no signs of putting out a good player at a reasonable cost. I didn't want a bulky Playstation. There was plenty of HD DVD movies out there, and at bargain prices.

Then last month a crazy thing happened. Sony released the BDP-S350 to rave reviews. I held out no longer and bought mine from Amazon for 344, no tax, free shipping. I got it within a week.

I just set it up. Took about 15 minutes. It would have taken less but the audio set up confused me a bit. God forbid I read the instructions.

Anyway, I bought a single BluRay disk and played it.

The picture and sound were nothing short of wonderful. I'll buy a few disks as they are still way too expensive, and rent from Netflix or Blockbuster. I am very impressed with the quality of this unit, and consider me a convert.

I recommend this machine highly, and congratulations to Sony for finally waking up!

Update: I bought a Yamaha RX663 so I can enjoy the Tru HD and Master HD sound. Yamaha only recognizes Bitstream signals. The S-350 audio choices are PCM or Direct, no Bitstream. The solution is to choose direct, and Voila, it works! You will not get the uncompressed sound unless you do this! I hope this helps.

Sanyo VWM-900 4-Head HI-FI Stereo VCR with Remote

Sanyo VWM-900 4-Head HI-FI Stereo VCR with RemoteI have had this VCR since 2005, and it still gives me reliable service. Programming it is easy, the menus make sense, and the video/audio quality are good. I use it to record several shows a week and it shows no signs of giving up. DVRs have their advantages, but you can't beat VCRs for economy. They are cheap to buy (at least when you could buy them) and cheap to operate. No silly monthly fees. Too bad Comcast instituted those DTA boxes. Makes it harder to use my VCR because the DTA does the tuning instead of the VCR.

I ordered this unit based on the Sanyo name and the price. I should have known you get what you pay for. Not even 60 days after receiving it, and with very light use probably about 40 hours total, it conked out. It just shut down when we tried to rewind a tape (nothing wrong with the tape) and would not stay turned on after that. No rewind, no play, no eject nothing. You pushed the ON switch, the wheels moved the tape about six inches, and then the power cycled off. On-off, on-off. The tape was locked inside, and I had to take off the top of the housing to retrieve it. Wow how much plastic can you put in a VCR? I think Sanyo was going for a record. Very few metal parts, and lots of thin plastic ones, just waiting to break. I had to pry the cassette out of the holder I couldn't even make the retention mechanism "let go". We decided to simply throw this one out, and go purchase something that is designed to last a while. What a piece of junk!

Nokia C5-03 Unlocked GSM Phone with 5 MP Camera and Ovi Maps Navigation Optimized for AT&T--U.S. Ve

Nokia C5-03 Unlocked GSM Phone with 5 MP Camera and Ovi Maps Navigation Optimized for AT&T--U.S. Version with WarrantyThru the years I found Nokia to make some of the best phones and this one is not an exception. I bought it because it is a 4 band (world) unlocked GSM, very light and small indeed, full touchscreen, responsive, quick and accurate typing, overall the phone works fast, has a bit slow GPS (when not assisted) with free maps and nice voice navigation, good WiFi, working radio, good loud speaker and call quality, decent email (old style) and normal camera, also the battery supposed to last longer. Overall, it does well what it supposed to do for the price of $180. There is one important thing, the US model has UMTS (3G bands) 900/1900/2100, so the 1900 works with AT&T, but no 850 AT&T or 1700 T-mobile. Strange, but the box label and some of the Amazon description are both wrong as they show 1700. I confirmed that with Nokia as well and the phone is working fast on AT&T 3G on 1900. The phone is made in Mexico, that's fine. It has the plastic look, but it is the simple clean design and the cute shape that makes it look neat too. I am not sure why there is no variety of colors on the US market like elsewhere, that is rather frustrating. The operating system is the typical Nokia, no news there.

I bought this phone despite of certain reviews that claimed the product was defective or hard to operate and had a very hard to control touch screen. I received the phone this weekend exactly on time for Christmas. It is unlocked and works internationally (currently it is working in Costa Rica the country where I live in). Touch screen is harder to control than others but nothing out of this world way better than an LG touchscreen if you ask me. As far as the model is concerned (since I read a few reviews saying this one was the Nokia C5-04) the model IS the Nokia C5-03 and there IS no such thing as the C5-04. The model does work with wi-fi I tried it out already and apps work beautifully (so far I have tried facebook mobile, facebook chat, skype and whatsapp). As far as the product box is concerned (one review from Costa Rica claimed the box arrived open) it was fine, the box is opened to inspect the contents of it but the phone arrived in perfect conditions and worked perfectly. I rate this phone (even though its from 2010 a 4.5 star rating, shame Amazon will only let me rate it 4 or 5) but it is a great phone with a perfect operational system and specs for the price it has. A must buy if you want a really great phone at a great price!

If you have any questions message me :)

It is a telephone, compact but heavy, that gives a strength sensation him. All the applications that unload of OVI, in their majority are gratuitous and allows to improve the applications of the telephone.

I have compared it with the N8 and the only difference this in the pixels of the camera that in the N8 is of 12 and in the C6-01 is of 8.

I recommend it to the 100%.

I own this phone for over 11 months.

The good:

Cute phone

Nice call quality

Great Wifi reception

Pre-installed Nokia Maps

Good speakers (sound is loud and clear than other high end smart phones)

Camera 5MP (I made lot of videos with this and they came out to be of good quality)

Microsoft Exchange

Chat client (Yahoo/google/hotmail)

Not good:

The screen size of 3.2 inch (should have been 3.5 inch). This makes browsing hard.

Internal memory is very less (my phone always runs under 15MB) and hence cannot use microsoft exchange for office mails (If I use Exchange email, phone complains of low memory and close few open applications)

Touch screen is sometimes hard to operate

With all the above pros and cons.. I could use this phone for

Voice and text

Basic internet browsing over wifi

Take photos and videos

If that is all what you plan to do with this phone.. go for it..

Sony DCR-SR46 40GB Hard Drive Handycam Camcorder with 40x Optical Zoom

Sony DCR-SR46 40GB Hard Drive Handycam Camcorder with 40x Optical ZoomI used the camera to film parts of my cross country road trip to San Francisco. It was terrific on the road -holding battery charge, taking great, colorful pictures, and was even pretty steady on a bumpy moving truck. A great purchase.

This is a GREAT camera. I especially like the night-vision function. It is easy to learn (anybody with a facebook account can probably throw the manual away) and always has good quality. Shot HOURS of footage with this, and never a disappointment. Battery life is about 2 hrs, maybe more.

Well I was hoping to get a good camcorder to video stuff as an improvement over my Canon camera. Well this camcorder was priced well at about $180 but actually gave worst video quality than my camera! I would stay away from this camera if you want anything you are filming to look good. The camera also sucks in low and high light situations.

SanDisk 128 MB SmartMedia Card

SanDisk 128 MB SmartMedia CardYou can't go wrong with SanDisk cards! I use my memory cards under heavy heavy usage for digital imagery and audio. My cards get beaten on as they get pulled out of and pushed into many different devices. Oftentimes, I don't bother to turn off power. I've never had a single SanDisk card go bad ever! I now buy them exclusively.

My negative review is based on one experience with one card with one manufacturer. Since this was my first experience with digital photography, I am hoping I was just unlucky and that this will not prove to be a regular experience.

I purchased the Sandisk 128MB card with my Olympus 2040 camera in November and took both on a vacation to Italy. The camera worked out great, but I noticed a problem with this Sandisk card on the third photo. I knew photo #3 was lost but assumed my other photos would be okay. On my return home I tried to transfer my 240 photos to my computer, but got disk errors. I called Sandisk and the customer service rep informed me that the only way to save my photos was to send the disk to a data recovery service. I found some services on the internet, and discovered that this is a growing industry. Recovery of my photos would cost $300 more than I am willing to pay.

I asked the Sandisk customer service rep if disk failure was a common problem. To my horror, he said yes, this happens all the time. So my advise to aspiring digital photographers is to take great care with your memory cards, test them out before important events, and always keep a backup card on hand. I have since purchased a Viking 128MB card and it has worked flawlessly. But, for the foreseeable future I will rely on my old faithful Nikon SLR as my primary way to preserve important photo memories.

Buy SanDisk 128 MB SmartMedia Card Now

What more can I say except that they work flawlessly with my Fuji 2600 camera ?

The card has never given me any problem for last 2 months. I have used it to its full capacity couple of times. And its worth its price since the 64MB also costs a similar price.

Sandisk has a 5 year warranty on the card, which I think should be sufficient given the way the memory cards have been increasing in their capacity and the increase in MP's of digicams.

If are using a Sandisk rebate offer, they do have a rebate phone line to call & inquire about your status. I haven't got mine back yet but beleive that I will. ... So you can count on the rebate offer to lower your price....

Also there have been some concerns with using a 128MB card in place of 32 or 64 makes your camera slower ? Well as far I have observed, the camera is sligthly slower when starting the review for pictures on the camera. Other than this (expected) slowness, there's none to it. The smartmedia cards of all sizes have same speeds, unlike compact flash cards.

Update : I got the rebate back from Sandisk, so you can count on it !

I recently received a Fuji Finepix F601 as a gift; the giver, a professional photographer, included a Fuji 128MB Smart Media Card as a matter of course. Thank goodness he knew what he was doing in terms of storage needs, at least -the 601 only comes with a 16MB card, which on the 601 is only enough for 5 images at the highest recording level. If you're getting a compatible Fuji, Olympus, or other-brand camera, you really need the highest storage card possible.

But it turns out these cards are fragile, and fingerprints can short them out or cause problems with the camera or reader being able to access their contents. So the best way to keep them around forever is to get a 128 MB card and never remove it! Ideally, then, this should be a solution coupled with the purchase or ownership of a camera which interfaces directly (USB or firewire) with the PC, so there won't be a need to remove the card. Ever. That security, and the ability to store over a hundred 8x10 print-quality pix on one wafer-thin card, makes the bigger sized card easily worth the extra cost if you're getting a Fuji or other-brand digital camera.

As for brand...well, after trying a Fuji and a Viking card, and checking the wiring stats on both, it turns out the brand names of Smart Cards have almost nothing to do with quality -these are, for all intents and purposes, interchangable -so buying the cheapest one out there is the best bet. And, with rebates, the Viking card IS the cheapest Smart Media brand on the market -by a factor of about 10% or more. With no complaints and lots of joyful picture taking happening in my house, I therefore give SanDisk five stars for the basic product, then...but take away one star for a higher cost. Sorry, SanDisk.

Want SanDisk 128 MB SmartMedia Card Discount?

I had purchased an 128MB Olympus card (at premium price) along with my Olympus C3000 camera. But recently, I got a deal so good (at Costco), I could not pass up the opportunity to get another card.

This SanDisk product worked as expected, no problems storing, downloading, etc. Only drawback is that the "panorama" feature of the camera does not work with this memory card (but that is why I paid the higher price for the Olympus card).

Now, I have enough memory not to worry about running out during a week-long trip.

We bought this made in Thailand DVD player about 2 months ago...so happy with it we would buy the same one as a gift. It's simple to hook up and understand, and very easy to use. However, one annoying quirk is the power LED indicator. It works in the opposite fashion as one would think: glows red when powered down and off when playing a DVD.

SPRINT SAMSUNG IP-830W CELL PHONE

SPRINT SAMSUNG IP-830W CELL PHONEWhile it is a pretty big phone I really don't mind it much because it has so much functionality and I am able to comfortably surf the web and check my web mail and send text messages. The world clock is kinda useless, it doesn't have too many cities listed and I typically don't have it on display. As this has a Microsoft operating system be prepared to reboot about 2x a week on average. Also the VoiceSignal program is really terrible, it never gets my voice command right and is totally useless. Other than that, the sliding keyboard is great and while it's hard to use it with one hand after a while I was able to train myself to do so. The PDF viewer is amazing, very cool application. The battery life is not that great, and the extended battery practically doubles the weight of the phone, so keep a charger with you where you go of course it was impossible to find a spare charger for this phone and I searched high and low before I found a car charger that was compatible. Overall, its a fun phone and keeps me well connected.

I obtained this phone last December when my company changed wireless providers from Verizon to Sprint. Because my job requires me to travel on a global basis, they selected the IP-830 phone for me.

After being a faithful Treo user for years, I was curious to see how the Windows Mobile platform would compare. I've been very pleased with the phone. It's easy to use, fairly intuitive, and is a great travel companion. Because of the Windows Mobile package and the ability to receive email, I am often able to leave my laptop behind for short business trips.

It's global functionality is very simple. Change the band to International and it's good to go. On my first trip overseas with it, I got off the plane in Brussels, turned on my phone and received a text message from Sprint International telling me how to make calls back to the US. Nice job sprint.

The slide down keyboard is nice, although it is not as tight as I would prefer it to be. The screen is easy to use with the stylus and is my preferred method of use. Sound quality is good, not great, but not bad.

My only gripes about the phone are it is a little top heavy and when using the extended life battery. I would recommend you keep both of them fully charged if you are going to use it as much as I use mine. (Probably over 2000 minutes per month, plus over 1500 text messages) Also, don't try to use aftermarket chargers, they simply won't work. I've through three of them and had to come back to the OEM charger. Don't waste your time trying any others.

Text messages are very easy with the onscreen or drop down keyboard. We're in the process of begining to use them as a modem for our laptops, I'll report back on how that goes.

Web brousing is very easy to do, and with the ability to change the screen from portrait to landscape, easy to view websites as they are on an actual computer. It's quite iphone-ish in that sense.

I have yet to find a decent bluetooth headset for the phone that doesn't sound like I'm a thunderstorm or cave.

Overall I think this is terrific phone and if you travel overseas it is the ideal mix of phone and data coverage.

Buy SPRINT SAMSUNG IP-830W CELL PHONE Now

Now let me just start by saying that I've been with Sprint Nextel for 4 years now, mostly because the company I work for switched wireless provider and I get associate discount. Anyway I've had almost every single PDA, Smartphone, MIT Sprint has to offer. My first phone was the Treo 650 with Palm OS. I prefer larger, bulkier devices rather than the small Blackberry Pearl or Palm Centro. Which were my last 2 phones. So to fix the problem I got this Samsung IP-830w. I've seen it before but because of the pricey tag of $500 (with contract extension) I was not able to get it. Yes, it's quite big compared to newer devices but it also has more features than most. This mobile intelligent terminal is loaded with Windows mobile 5.4. Atleast mine was. There's an update available from the home page of the Internet Explorer to 6.1 and you can also update live search, MSNBC, MSN live, so on. There's also the Picsel browser which I think is one of the best apps this device has to offer. Browsing the web is easier and so much fun. Picsel doubles as a document viewer. The device is Navigation compatible and various apps are available to download at different prices. Like with most smart devices Sprint Navigation is not compatible, but trust me, you won't miss it. Just buy a better one from the store app. Handmark Pocket Express is amazing on this device and provides you with free accurate maps, news, weather and so much more. The devices screen is large and displays an ok resolution. Nothing to get exited about really, the screen is fairly larger than most. The device itself has no video capabilities, atleast not out of the box. If you like streaming videos from YouTube mobile then you can buy a video streamer from the apps store. Once that's set you'll be ready to watch your vids in high res full screen. As far as the phone quality goes, I've got no complaint. It's not superb but better than the Palm Centros. As far as international features, which are the main attraction, the ability to control the settings with such ease makes this device better than most international blackberrys. The device also supports expandable memory. A mini SD card. Which is pretty good considering you can swap cards from other devices like your digital camera to view them or share media on the go. Up to 2gb are supported. With such a big size I wonder why there isn't a camera. It's not a big deal because I carry my Nikon and most smart devices now don't have a camera powerfull enough to replace a real one. So if your looking for a Blackberry alternative or you travel outside the US then this device is a must try. To sweeten the deal you can get this for less than what it was going for when it first came out.

Sony DCRTRV19 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5" LCD and Remote

Sony DCRTRV19 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5' LCD and Remotethe trv19 is the lowest priced camcorder in the trv19/22/33 family. still, this is a camcorder that has a very nice feature set.

pros:

compact design, light weight.

larger size CCD should provides better low-light performance.

miniDV media is widely supported.

great connectivity options: firewire, USB, S-video, headphone, mic input, etc.

carl zeiss lens.

intelligent accessory shoe.

steady shot and night shot.

progressive shutter system.

supports exif 2.2.

cons:

it would have been nice to get a bigger 3.5" LCD.

you can only record stills at 640 x 480 on tape; memory stick not supported!

no pop-up flash for taking stills and no built in video light but you can get a flash/video combo light for less than a hundred bucks.

black and white viewfinder.

as with most sony products, you pay a premium, pushing up the price.

if you're looking for a camcorder and still capability is not important, this camcorder should be on your short list. if you want still capability, skip this camcorder and consider the trv33, pc-105, or the panasonic gs70 (top pick for me).

i myself have a dedicated digital camera to complement my camcorder but i still want still capability of at least 1 megapixel. you just never know when you might need to take a still picture and you've left your digital camera back in the car/hotel room/house. capturing still pics on DV tape just does not cut it unless all you want to do is post it on the web. if you want to print out your picture, you'll be disappointed.

all in all, the trv19 is a nice camcorder. just don't expect it to do what it wasn't designed to. cheers.

I was looking for a MiniDV camcorder that was small, easy to hold, with the best image and sound quality I could afford. I didn't want still picture recording, MPEG recording, a memory stick, or any of that other stuff that a digital still camera does better, and which just jacks up the camcorder's price.

After trying low-end JVC, Panasonic, Sharp, and Sony models, I settled on the Sony TRV19: it has the best image quality by far of all the low-end MiniDV cameras, and meets my other criteria as well. Only thing that's less than stellar is the sound: the stereo separation is good, but I hear camera motor noise occasionally on playback. This is endemic to low-end cameras, and no worse in the Sony than others I've tried, so I'm OK with it. This model has a hotshoe for an external mic, so I have an out if I need it.

I've shot about 6 hours so far, all handheld, and I'm very happy with this model.

Buy Sony DCRTRV19 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5" LCD and Remote Now

Extremely well done top to bottom.

NOTE for Macintosh Users: Cannot interface via USB. But no worries, a FireWire cable makes the camcorder totally Mac-compatible. Must get a "4-to-6-pin Thin FireWire cable" and use the iLink DV interface on camcorder. After you have this $8 cable, everything is pretty easy. An hour later we were editing video clips in iMovie. (The included USB cable is useless for Macintosh.)

I'm not an aspiring director. I don't want to edit my films, or make stunning documentaries, and I have a digital camera so I don't care if my camcorder takes still pictures. All I want to do is take it with me on vacation and get some good video to rememeber my trips by. This Sony is great for this type of thing. There aren't many bells and whistles, but it takes good pictures indoors and out (unlike the Cannon that I returned which shot grainy pictures indoors.) Its really small so you don't have to leave it behind. It fits easily in a fanny pack with your map and guide book. If you are looking to be the next big Hollywood director, go shell out some more cash for a different camera, but if you just want good home movies, this is your best bet.

Want Sony DCRTRV19 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5" LCD and Remote Discount?

The first thing I moticed when taking this camcorder out of the box was it's size. It's soooooo small!! And light weight too...which means for those of us who tire of wighty hand-held video cameras....no problem here. You barely even know it is in your hand. Picture quality is good for a single chip, entry level MiniDV....audio is standard built in stereo mic quality. For a while it was a toss up between this camcorder and the JVC line. But I have always liked what Sony produces...and they always come out ahead in low light tests.

The one thing I am still not 100% comfortable with is the fact the menu is a touch screen on the LCD. I still prefer to have actual buttons...but it does save space on the unit. I have always been one to never touch the LCD screen if I don't have to. Now I have too!! Maybe I will use a dull object to do so. Don't want oils from my skin marring the image on the LCD.

Speaking of the LCD...it is great indoors but outdoors difficult to see the image as well...hoping to be able to compensate with the brightness control.

All the opearting controls are right where they need to be when the camcorder is in your hand. It is comfortable and easy to use...right out of the box...thanks to factory defaults settings. Cost is a bit more than others at this level, but I think in the end it is a good choice.

Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone

Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone
  • Side-address studio condenser with USB digital output (Windows and Mac compatible)
  • Crystal-clear, natural sound for podcasting, home studio recording, field recording, and voiceover use
  • Custom-engineered low-mass diaphragm provides extended frequency response and superior transient response
  • Cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of desired sound source
  • Low self-noise-perfectly suited for sophisticated digital recording equipment

This is my video review of the AT2020 USB microphone from Audio-Technica. USB Microphones are made to be plugged in directly to a laptop or desktop. I connected this to a Vista 64 laptop during filming and did the voice over on a Macbook Pro.

Text review:

I give this product a 5 star rating. It is easy to use, high quality and very competitively priced. This is a great desktop mic to use for making podcasts or recording music.

I am not a musician so I am not able to speak to that aspect of the microphones ability. I did use it to make several voice over videos and it performed perfectly. Never a hick-up or any spurious noises heard at all.

I did not include specs into my video review because it would add to the file size and be too small to read here on Amazon's video player.

Regular readers of my reviews know I try to supply specs when necessary.

Here are the specs:

Element: Fixed-charge back plate permanently polarized condenser

Polar pattern: Cardioid

Frequency Response: 20Hz-16,000Hz

Power Requirements: USB power (+5VDC)

Bit depth: 16

Sample Rate: 44,000 kHz

Weight: 374g (13.2 oz)

Dimensions: 162.0 mm (6.38") long

52.0mm max body diameter (2.05")

Output connector: USB type

Accessories: Pivoting stand for 5/8"-27 threaded stands, 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, soft protective pouch, tripod desk stand; 3.1m 10' USB cable

System Reqs: Mac OSX, USB 1.0 or 2.0 64MB RAM minimum. Windows XP Home or professional USB 1.0 or 2.0 64MB RAM minimum.

So for a great USB microphone I recommend this highly!

About the video: After uploading I noticed that Amazon's codec (video compressor) has made the video quality sub-par. I will try to reupload it again with a different codec.

Thank you for watching!

I've had this condenser microphone for about a month now and it has suited my purposes very well. I needed something to record podcasts with and do some voiceover work as well. I do my recording with Audacity, and the microphone was imediately recognized and easily installed as my primary microphone for Audacity. It is a very sensitive mic, and I had to build a small "porta-booth" ()to reduce the echo in the room where I record, but was able to get good clear recording after that. I recomend using a pop filter with this microphone to help reduce "S" & "P" sybillance. All in all, a very good microphone for the price.

I was looking for the pre Amp for my microphone to do do voice over video and found this USB microphone from Audio technica. So I did not have to buy the preamp . Just plug it to the USB port then you go. It was very easy to use and noise floor very quiet, it does not record the fan noise from your computer or the background noise in the recording room, very happy with the purchase.

Want Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone Discount?

This here is truly one of those hidden gem type products that you just don't really get to appreciate unless you have one for yourself. This is a great investment for anyone looking to do ANY type of recording on the casual level, vocals in particular. But why buy, you might ask?

1) This mic is USB powered. This is pretty much the prime reason that this is the perfect mic for the casual/beginning level user. If you were to buy a regular condenseor mic, or even the regular version of the AT Condenser Mic, you would have to have additional equiptment to power it. For those who, like me, know very little about audio equipment, you would end up paying for far more then you originally expected to spend and most likely been all kinds of confused about how to use it. Being USB powered is truely a God-sent, because all you need to do to make it work is plug it in. Theres no program to load, no instructions to follow, and best of all no sweat to break. As soon as you plug it in, the computer acknowledges it just like any other UBS device and you go on with your buesiness. You dont even need to sit and "safely" eject the thing, just yank it out and your done. No damage done to you computer or your mic. Best of all, the UBS cord is pretty standard, so you can easily replace it if the one that comes with it gets damaged.

2) The price. A lot of professional level condenser mics are pretty expensive, like around three hundred dollars at the cheapest level. Granted, that's a somewhat random number, but again, for the casual user, that's not exactly wallet friendly. I got mine in a music store for one fifty. I wish I had looked online for one a little cheaper, but it was still a wise investment. Thus far I haven't seen another mic this good for this cheap.

3) Durability. If you have any experience with audio equipment, mics in particular, you know that you need to be gentle with it when handling. I got my mic a good year and a half ago, and it's traveled with me a lot, sometimes in less gentle conditions then I would like. Its been bumped, dropped, and even sat on, yet it still runs strong. The only fragile thing this thing has on it is the legs that prop it up.

4) Sound Quality. Ok I lied, THIS is the best reason to get this mic. I started out doing vocals with a regular stage mic and one thing I can honestly say is that the quality was absolutely terrible. It was grainy, smothered, and I had to almost whisper to make sure my levels didn't peak while recording. The purpose of a condenser mic is to pretty much rectify all that. This one does it over and over again. My recordings come out crisp and professional sounding, and thus far, no one has been able to tell that I did all the recording my my basement with nothing but the mic, my laptop, and some quite time.

So if you looking for great quality for a affordable price, look no further then

Audio Technica AT2020USB. I have yet to find something I don't like about this thing. I am a very satisfied customer, and I can almost guarantee you will be too if you decide to get one too.

I recorded this song with the mic to put on my youtube channel (rhyeleee at YouTube). Needless to say, the quality is great for the price.

The only reason why I put 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's not very good at accepting very loud sound.
