While I've seen some note having problems with this item, I've found it to be trouble free. Have recorded a 50 minute lecture I had to give and was then able to edit the audio to pair with a PowerPoint for a video podcast for my English class. One note, when using with the XtremeMac base unit, there is no need to change the source setting unlike the directions say. Both the flexible microphone and this use the same setting!

Though advertised as working with iPods, this does not work with the 6th-gen (multitouch) iPod Nano other headsets with mics do work fine with it. It's galling that the box claims the manufacturer to be "The iPod Experts". Also, though advertised as new I received a used, open-box item.

I am a secondary school educator and I use this lapel mic to attach to my MicroMemo to record my lectures into my iPod for my LD kids who cannot take notes. I don't podcast the lectures, although that would be possible, too. I am going to be teaching my kids how to record into their iPods so they can provide narrations and soundtracks to their presentations and PowerPoints, as well. Hands down the best use of technology in my possession so far!

I own both the Griffin iTalk and the XtremeMac Micromemo. I also purchased the MemoMic. Strangely, I am unable to get the MemoMic to work w/the MicroMemo. I do have the switch set correctly; however, recording is simply background hiss. I AM able to get it to work w/the Griffin iTalk. iPod 2g nano plays back fine w/this workaround. Although I'm less than thrilled w/this arrangement, at least it works w/the iTalk. Very strange!

At first I didn't know what a pouch of black powder was for until I put the mick on and found it bare. It was an extra fiber cap. So far, the sound isn't near as clear as my flip video. I don't like making purchases where I have to make a second to fix it.
