Small footprint, basic operation, easy set up 5 minute hook up plug into outlet, connect hdmi from player to tv that's it.

Plays all NTSC (US formatted) dvds (+,-,rw, etc),with no problems. No skipping, lag, or freezing up.

I also like that although it comes with a remote, there are also control buttons on the unit itself. This is just a laziness issue, but if you walk over to the player to retrieve or insert a disc without having the remote in hand, you can still operate the player without having to go back and get the remote.

Note that this also has usb port in front for flash drives but realize that it will not read an external hard drive just flash (thumb) drives.

I didn't need it to play dvd's from overseas, but if this is a consideration for you, note that the specs do not show that it plays PAL formatted dvds.

Also note that although it comes with audio/video cables and a remote, it does not include batteries (for the remote) or an hdmi cable. Small issue especially considering the price, but just something to know ahead of time so you'll have these on hand when you're ready to hook it up and not have to make a special trip out to get them.

Very, very happy with this purchase. I initially bought one for our flat screen, but was so pleased with it and the price, I bought a second one for our older model tv that is in our exercise room. No hdmi on that tv, but hook up was just as easy with the included audio/video cables.

Highly recommend this for anyone wanting a basic dvd player.

I bought this specifically for the usb port, I download a lot from the internet and now it's so easy to watch movies on my tv. I just put them on a flashdrive and stick it in the usb port and enjoy movies on the tv. I would recommend this.

I basically got this dvd player because it has a usb port on it. I was very pleased with how it worked. There was one small problem but it was easy to fix. When I let the dvd player go into screen saver mode after about 10 minutes the picture would start rolling and I had to turn it off and start over again. I almost sent it back then I thought maybe if I just went into the setup under misc.and just turn off the screen saver mode maybe it would stop doing it and it did. One other thing was the usb would only seem to take avi. file movies but that was okay because most of my movies were avi. files anyway. All in all it was a great value at 30 bucks. EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. I WANTED SOMETHING WITHOUT ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. EASY TO HOOK UP. I DID IT MYSELF IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES. WORKS PERFECTLY.

I've had no problems with this Sylvania DVD player after 2.5 months of daily use. I'm using a HDMI cable to connect DVD player to HDTV. Playing rock music DVDs, I Get to view a great clear upconverted digital signal, showing a great picture and amazing audio. This is great machine for price so i'll knock on wood that this Sylvania DVD player continues to perform excellent for me!
