We bought one of these a few weeks ago and were quite disappointed. The battery only lasted about 7-8 minutes, and YES, I refreshed and fully charged it and did everything I was supposed to. I don't know if it was a bad battery or if someone had used up it's life and returned it, but I have yet to get a response from the company about it. The picture quality was very grainy as well. It is a cheap camcorder, but in my opinion you don't get even get $200 worth out of this one. I took it back and bought a Sony TRV 280 for a little more and it is AWESOME! Long battery life and great picture quality. Well worth the extra $50!

It was not clear that the item was reconditioned and did not come with any instructions, battery or lens cover.

RCA VR5330R 2GB USB Digital Voice Recorder

The RCA VR5330R 2GB Digital Voice Recorder is a good device overall and can carry you throughout a day of studying with no problem. It takes time to get use to the controls which can be confusing, but the sound quality is good and clear. The unit comes with it's own software that allows you to listen to the recording on your computer. THe file format however, is proprietary so you cannot download it to your iPod (There are some software on the market to convert this type of format if so you chose). Be sure to transfer the recorded files to your computer prior to listening. The RCA VR5330R is a one power-hungry beast and can go through batteries pretty fast. My suggestion would be to use rechargeable batteries. It is more environmental friendly and can save you money.

Sound quality is good and usb connection is convenient, but I was disappointed that it does not record in MP3 format, but in some other goofy proprietary format.

I bought two of these to replace our aging Olympus recorders (actually... I bought them to replace our replacements, but that's another story). I bought these for ghost hunting, and I chose this model because it records in WAV format where most recorders seem to be moving toward MP3. However it only records in WAV when recording in HQ (High Quality) mode, which is fine for me because that's all I use. In the lower quality modes it records in VOC format.

Recording time depends on what mode you're using. LP (Long Play) gives you a whopping 808 hours of recording time, though the quality is very low. SP (Standard Play) gives you about 140 hours of recording time and is suitable for most users. HQ will give you about 68 hours, which is more than enough for what we need it for.

The microphone sensitivity is adjustable, and those familiar with other audio recorders should be aware that Dictation Mode is comparable to the Low setting, while Conference Mode is comparable to High.

The quality of construction is very good and it appears that these will last us for some time. We only hope that they last as long as our old Olympus recorders which have seen over 100 investigations over seven years, and have seen plenty of abuse and are still going strong. To help make that happen, the carrying case included with this item is nice. It's well-padded, well-made and durable, and should help keep our recorders in good condition for a very long time.

I ordered this from Amazon via Hassle-Free Cell on Monday and had the phone Friday using standard shipping. It was new and even had a fresh battery (manufacture date 8/2008); although manufactured for SE Asia the default language was English and everything works great. I liked my old Razr V3 but it was a little bulky; I loved my moto Pebl but it bit the dust after a nasty fall. The K1 combines the best of both those phones, plus adds a music player. It has a nice solid feel with a rubberized back and a very crisp, high-contrast display like the Pebl and unlike the Razr. One of the things I like about Motorola phones is that accessories using mini-USB work for all their phones, as far as I know. This includes Phone Tools software, stereo earbuds, chargers, etc. so I didn't have to buy all that stuff over again. Call volume and quality is very good and the music player sounds great, although it is a bit quirky and limited and doesn't have external music player control buttons like the CDMA version. The player doesn't recognize a lot of the MP3s I loaded on a 2 gig card, but maybe I just need to wipe it and try again. Like the other Motos I mentioned, the soft keys can be programmed so that there is ready to access to the things I frequently use, like the calendar and alarms. In picking a phone I didn't really care about the voice recognition feature, but it works so well that I use it all the time now. I don't have or need a data plan, so I can't speak to the browser feature, which is no doubt very primitive compared to a smart phone. Overall this an excellent phone for calling, and at a very reasonable price.

The phone came without US mms settings but were easily downloaded from the Moto site..It now works great on the ATT network.

The phone came with a foreign charger and the wrong US adapter. After contacting Amazon, they immediately sent me the same thing for exchange.

I ordered a charger from Ebay and am very happy.

The phone is chargable from the mini usb port so I was able to use it until the charger arrived.

I would give it a 5 star if not for this problem. Also hope I don't need the warranty.

Nice phone and, thus far, seems to work quite well. The operating manual, though, was in Italian and so I had to go online to look for a manual in English.

1. Very bad key pad design. Guys with big fingers wouldn't operate it properly. Around the ring pad, there are six keys squeezed together, so very difficult to work on them.

I purchased this mp3 player because it looks so adorable online and in writing it sounded just like what I needed. I wanted to use it with my FM transmitter as well as when I am working out. I also wanted to spend the least out of pocket and when I read about this product I thought I was getting a STEAL!! Boy was I ever wrong.

First of all, the product is pink, does come with the items described, and can be used with an FM transmitter. But what they don't tell you is that you need a Ph.d to be able to use the darn thing. You MUST use the larger booklet that comes with it to figure out how to operate this thing, because of course its not logical with what's on the buttons. I was very frustrated using it to begin with, and after a few weeks I am able to work it. Some of the menus though require you to turn the thing completely off just to be able to get out of that screen because warning messages flash and there is no way to get rid of them.

The battery life is a joke so prepare to recharge it after EVERY use. When you turn it on don't think that it will still be saved with the last sone you listened to, you have to start from the beginning of the list after each power on and there is no quick way to get through the list, you must read through every song. There is a shuffle feature though that can get you to different places within the list if you don't feel like hunting through 2GB worth of music.

There isn't a clip or anything that helps you keep it held around your neck, so if you're working out you'll have to hold it or since I'm a female I slip it inside my sports bra strap to keep it held in place.

The pros of this item is that the sound quality isn't bad at all. That's it!!

The feel of it is Extremely light and almost rubbery, it's definitely a peanut of an MP3 player.

All in all I say that if you can get yourself a Sansa for a good price by all means save yourself the headaches of this product because the only thing that makes it worth it to me is that my total ended up being $4.99 after gift certs. Oh and by the way, if you do get the product and don't like it, be prepared to pay a "Restocking Fee" if you decide to return it to the seller.

We bought one for our son and I use it more than he does. With a SD card installed this camera has worked great for us. Have to have a still hand when snapping the shots so I would recommend some kinda tripod, big or small. The hole for the tripod mounting is plastic so it will strip out on you after awhile. I also recommend some rechargeable batteries. With the right lighting and a still hand youll enjoy this camera.

Logitech Harmony 550 Universal Remote Control

Well, my Sima SUR-20 remote finally died after 5 years, so I had to find a replacement. I decided that I wanted a true universal/learning remote that had more than just a touchscreen. I started my search with Harmony because I have heard a lot of good things about them. My criteria included: learning, full macros, configurable, easy to use for less technologically advanced people, good button lay out, and no rechargeable batteries. This pretty much ruled out the 880, 720, and 890. Honestly, I'm not that big a fan of the peanut shape anyhow. So, my real choices became the 520 and 550. Not too much difference, mainly button layout and device limitations. In the end, I like the 550 layout best.

I installed the software fairly easily. I made sure NOT to install the additional software that checks for updates, and I removed the software from the startup menu. Next I collected all the device model numbers. 10 minutes later I had the first iteration of my remote up and running. I spent the next hour tweaking the labels and layout of the buttons in my activities.

The result is that all my devices are setup perfectly (TV, DVD, Home Theater, Cable Box/DVR, Roomba, and my HP Laptop). The 550 does a great job of switching inputs on my TV and Receiver. Actually, I have more functionality with this remote than on the remote that came with my dvr (skip forward)!

I had equal ease of setup with my laptop and roomba. The only real negative is the speed, or lack thereof, of the software. The program is slow and it occasionally freezes for a couple minutes at a time. However, since you only need to use it when you setup a new device, it's not a deal breaker for me.

The remote is intuitive enough for most anyone. The help button easily walks you through any issues you might have when turning on or switching between activities. The activities are easy to configure and I was even able to set it up to leave my DVR on all the time.

All in all, the remote is great. I think that it is important to compare it to other universal remotes before complaining about it. It may not be as quick as entering a couple of codes, but the benefits are extremely worth it!

I'll preface this short review by saying that I manage a group at work tasked with making human / computer interfaces work well. So I have a decent amount of experience in this area (but I'm also picky caveat emptor). Having said that, I found that Logitech tried very hard to get things right, but are still missing the mark in a few areas.

I started by not installing the Logitech software from the disk (based on suggestions I had read here), but instead downloaded the software from the Logitech site. No installation problems, and my firewall software recognized and allowed the Logitech software to pass through without incident. I plugged the 550 into a USB port and XP recognized it and I was transported to the Logitech setup software. Good start.

The first part where I had issue was in telling the software what devices I had. You have to type in the name of your model numbers after selecting the manufacturer, and there is no real indication as to whether the software recognized the device or not. It would have been much better to select the device from a list.

After the devices are set up, you then tell the software what activities you want it to memorize. This is very powerful, a wizard-based method of macro programming. I soon had it programmed to perform the four activities I wanted (watch tv, watch dvd, listen to iPod, listen to music). I then downloaded the commands to the remote and tested it out.

This is where the issues started. Seems that some of the commands weren't recognized, and I was forced to endure an hours-long process of training the remote some of my specific commands. In most cases I believe that the software recognized the brand of my device, but not necessarily the particular model (I have Philips, Denon, and Sony devices not really off-brand). Thus there were some generic commands that weren't right for my particular model. So I had to slowly discover which buttons worked and which did not, then go back and teach the unlearned commands to the remote. While this was not completely unexpected, it was very time-consuming and almost negated the value of the setup wizard.

The final issue that I had was in properly setting up activities. This takes a lot of trial and error. Additionally, there is no easy way to map device commands to activity commands. For example, I had to write down the TV remote commands down on a spare envelope and then manually input them into the activity commands section.

I can not properly express the joy I felt when, after hours of frustration, I finally had everything mapped out properly. The device works like a charm, and I am very satisfied with it overall. I'm sure that I'll completely love it after the setup fiasco has faded a bit.

So in summary, I would rate the device itself "5 out of 5", and the setup software "3 out of 5". Anyone with a fair degree of sophistication will be able to get it up and running, and behaving exactly the way they want it. But it may take several hours to do so.

I have owned one of the orginal Harmony remotes for three years, and just upgraded to the new 550.

Other reviewers describe the effectiveness of Harmony's "activities" based set up, and it truly is a great solution for the complicated "many remotes on the coffee table" problem. I'd like to address how easy it was to upgrade from an older model to the 550.

I spent about 45 minutes perfecting my first Harmony using the online programming interface, and found it to be easy to use and comprehensive. When I unpacked my new 550, all I had to do was plug the remote into my computer's USB port, install the updated software (5 minutes), and download all of my existing programming (another 5 minutes). It worked perfectly!

Great new features:

The rubberized plastic back of the 550 makes it much less likely to slip off a table and fall to the floor.

The backlit LCD display is much easier to read.

Slimmer, more appealing styling.

Keys, while a bit small, are indented which provides much better tactile feel and response than the older model.

I am very pleased with this upgrade, and recommend it to anyone would like to easily control a variety of components with an intuitive, easy to use, single remote control. Well worth the investment!

After doing a lot of research, and finally reading slick045's and Justin's review below (the icing on the cake), I decided to go with the 550. I was looking for a simple, cool looking, rectangular remote that could control all of my devices (without breaking the bank). Within an hour, I had the remote working exactly how I wanted (actually, in 10 minutes I had the first iteration of it going). I was suprised that it even had my remote control lights in the online database (3BM, which is not a common brand). I know a lot of people say the software is difficult, but once you spend 15 minutes playing around with it you will figure it out. I am technically savvy but I don't think you need to be with this remote's software...in fact, I was glad it had so much programming flexibility. The only "major" tweak I had to do was remove the delay on the 550 remote for my Scientific Atlanta cable box as there was a noticeable pause when entering channel numbers. I did this by going to "Adjust the delays" for the device and changing the "Inter-Device Delay" from 1000ms to 0ms and walla it was as quick as the original cable remote. I was also impressed how easy it was to set up the activities to do multiple commands at once. Bottom line, definitely a smart buy. As this is my first day with the remote, I will be sure to update if things change, but I really don't think they will. I am a happy customer down from 6 remotes to 1!

Like other people with several pieces of electronics, I had become frustrated by having to set up and use different control units. Of course, one can sometime get an individual control unit to control more than one piece of equiment (e.g., control your TV off of a DVD control). I had tried to do this when I bought a new Toshiba HD-DVD unit and wanted to set up the DVD controller so that it could control my Sony TV. The problem was, however, that there were about 30 codes you had to choose from listed in the DVD manual to control a Sony TV with no sense which one might work. I mentioned to someone I knew after getting through about half of the list of codes and he suggested I look at getting a Harmony unit.

The Harmony unit is great!! It took about 15 minutes to set up and essentially get all of my common tasks such as playing a DVD, watching a TV show, listening to the radio, watching a video, etc all onto one easy-to-use control. In setting up the control, you link to your computer (and I have a Mac, which offered no problems) and simply enter the model numbers of each piece of equipment you have. You then do through simple menus to set up various tasks such as watching DVDs. The software will ask you some basic questions (i..e, which input on your TV does your DVD unit feed into) and then sets things up so that the one control takes the place of all of the others.

Instead of turning a TV on with one control, then turning your AV unit with another and the DVD player with the third, you simply click one of the activities listed on the screen such as watch a DVD. The appropriate units turn on just as if you had used the three separate controls and the Harmony unit becomes your DVD controller with all of the functions built into it. If you then want to watch a TV show instead, you click the button next to "watch TV" and the DVD player shuts off and the Harmony becomes a TV contoller.

I have found this to be a great product with a lot of nice features, both in terms of hardware and software. Other reviewers have described many of these, but one thing that has impressed me is the "glow" button that lets you light up the various buttons and screen so you can easily use the controller in a dark room. On the software front, it is very easy to make changes in the settings on your controller (e.g., if you switch jacks into which audio sources will feed) -the inetrfaces are very nicely designed and efficient.

I have never said that a product deserves 6 stars, but this one does. It really helps to clear "control clutter" and makes it a simple task to manuever your way around you home theatre/audio system.

This has many features and is a very good product for the price. The DVD and CD players are good. I send the sound to my home theater receiver and it sounds wonderful. The VHS portion plays better than my other stand-alone SONY VCR. What I really liked is that this unit has Quasi-S Playback so I can play my S-VHS tapes. The picture is good. What I found amazing was that the EP record mode (6 hour) looked better than the SP (2 hour). I played some EP recordings made on this unit on my parents' JVC and the picture was outstanding. You can also view CD ROM (JPEGS, etc.) images with this unit on your TV. My only complaint with this unit is that the remote is too small and too "busy" with all the buttons very close together. If you want to watch DVDs, record and play VHS tapes without going beyond that I would recommend this SONY unit as a possible choice if you are in the market for a combination unit.

I have been looking for a unit that will play both DVDs and VHS tapes. I have a pretty good-sized collection of DVDs and pre-recorded VHS tapes. This SONY unit fits the bill. I can play everything with this single unit. I can still record tapes off the cable too if I wish. One remote handles everything. I can also hook this unit to my TV using an RF cable or RCA type cables if I wish. You do not get that option with a stand-alone DVD player. So far I am very pleased with this unit. All my tapes look very good and the Fast Forward and Rewind is very fast. The price is right to.

The remote control might drive you batty. You have to point it directly at whatever it's controlling in order for it to work. Besides the obvious, this means that unless you've memorized the buttons and can feel which is which, you must hold the remote level and then lean forward to read its labels and press its buttons.

Otherwise, the thing is nice. I like the fact that its remote is actually a universal remote that can control channel, volume, and power to many makes & models of TV, including my 15-year-old Panasonic. We're finally able to use a single remote for the TV and its media player while still having full access to the media player's features, such as "subtitles on/off".

The value you get for the price of this tv is second to none. I just recently put this tv in my house replacing an old rear projection tv and i am amazed at its color accuracy. I did find my self making a few tweeks from the factory settings but once you get it to where you like the picture you'll fall in love. Sports and movies shine on this set. I preferred the plasma over the lcd because the movement on the tv was much more natural than the 120hz lcd displays. I sell T.V.s at sears and after being around both for a while I find the plasma image much easier and natural to look at. I chose Panasonic because they seem to have mastered the plasma technology and even a Samsung rep told me that he preferred Panasonic's plasma to Samsungs plasma. I will admit to liking some of the new Sony's coming out and the new LED tv is really cool but you cant touch those televisions at this price point. I kind of wish I had waited for the G10 seeing as it came in at such a close price difference but I cant complain I love this tv and it is a few hundred dollars cheaper. I should also note that the anti-glare filter works really well I wouldn't be worried about glare issues. If anyone got through this review my advice to you is to buy this or the step up G10.

I decided on the P50S1 after about 250 hours of daily HDTV research for the past 3 or 4 months, in which I debated everything from plasma vs. LCD to screen size to features to ease of use to durability.

The 2009 Panasonic plasmas use the new "Neo-PDP" panels, which I can tell you personally having lifted both are much lighter than an equal size 2008 model plasma. The manual prudently warns against a single person lifting the set, but I did so myself with no problem.

This model was initially sold on Amazon at the initial MSRP of $1799, but has now dropped to a street price of under $1400 one month after being released. Placed my order on Wednesday the 8th, scheduled delivery for the following Wednesday the 15th. Was very surprised to get a phone call from Amazon's freight carrier, CEVA, asking if they could deliver the TV on the 11th. Four days early, and on a Saturday no less. The CEVA driver carried the box into my apartment, unpacked it, let me inspect the TV, assembled the stand, put the TV on the stand, and let me hook up the power and HDMI connection to turn the TV on, all before I signed for it.

Picture quality in the Cinema preset is already outstanding to my eyes. However I'm sure color accuracy will improve once I tweak some settings as posted at [..]. The Panasonic 2009 S series, G10 series, and V10 series all use the same physical panels, so the only differences between them are software/firmware, and extras like the VGA input and VieraCast on the other series. If you don't need the extras and are willing to tweak your picture settings, the S series is the best value for money out there.

If I really nitpick, the only negative I can come up with is the glossy black finish shows dust very easily, but that is true of most any HDTV currently sold.

This tv is great! I have been researching tvs for over a year to find the right one. I read all of the professional reviews (cnet) and this is the tv that I decided on. I was on a budget, I am a college student who does a lot of gaming and blu-ray watching. I am extremely picky about picture quality and this tv delivers an amazing picture! This blows nearly all LCD tv's out of the water. I was not going to get a plasma to begin with because of the supposed "image retention" which I have yet to notice. I am extremely glad that I got a Panasonic Plasma. The blacks are so deep, it almost looks as though the tv is off when the screen is black. The deep blacks make the colors pop! I have watched a number of blu-rays and played a couple of hours of games and I am in love already. I highly recommend this tv to everyone. It is an extremely good deal. Any LCD for this size would be much more expensive and have a much lower picture quality. Also for those of you deciding between the G10 and this tv I would recommend this one. I went to the local Best Buy and compared the two next to each other and I could not notice any difference between the two. Save yourself some money. My current TV was a Toshiba DLP, which was going through $ bulbs once a year ! So i went looking for a new lcd or plasma. First, i don't see how anyone will be very impressed with the standard picture setting ? It's a dingy, dull screen. However on "Cinema" or "Custom" setup, this picture is night and day brighter and more colorful. Maybe too much so. But at these settings, this tv easily rivals anything out there.

Here are CNET's calibrated settings, which i was'nt impressed with at first, but am using now.

On your remote click "menu", then click "picture" to get into these adjustments. Use the "arrow buttons" to navigate and change settings. Click the "return" button to get back out.

Use a quality HDMI cable, and give it about 3-4 weeks to break in. These settings really work well after some break in.

For best picture and easiest setup, use a quality HDMI (digital) cables instead of Component (analog) cables. They don't have to be $150 monster cables. I ended up using a $9.00 HDMIKing HDMI cable. Component cables will provide HD, but you won't get as sharp of picture as HDMI.

I got into it with Charter because they had given me a HD box that was component cable only, and they would'nt swap my box out for a HDMI box. I ended up switching to Dish Network, and am glad i did.

In 1983 i paid $750.00 for a 27" Toshiba flatscreen, picture tube. 4 years ago my 46" 720p DLP cost me $. This 50" 1080p Plasma was under $ !

Out of the box, this TV is nowhere near it's potential. With some time and setup it it has a very good picture. I still compare it to more expensive LCD's and i still feel i made the right choice.

I've been using the S1 for almost a month now and absolutely love it. It has a beautiful, realistic picture that is perfect for video gaming and Blurays. It may not have quite the 'pop' of an LCD, but I much prefer the look of a plasma with it's improved accuracy and uniform picture. I'm coming from a 34" Sony XBR970 which itself is a very accurate set but this Panasonic has made me a convert. It's plasma from here on out (or as long as they keep making them I suppose).

Of course one of my concerns before purchasing this set was burn in. I do a large amount of gaming and letterboxed movie watching, and I didn't want to have to be constantly worrying about damaging my set. Well, I've been gaming on this thing since day 1 many of which have static HUDs and I have yet to see even the mere hint of image retention. Same goes for letterboxes, they leave absolutely no lingering image. I play 360 and PS3 on the Game picture setting and movies on Cinema both of which have their contrast set around 80.

Regardless, I have been running break-in images while I'm not using the set. I'd say it's getting on average about 15 hours of use a day for the past few weeks. Not necessarily because I'm worried about image retention any more, but more as a stress test because I figure if anything is going to break down it'll be in the beginning. I'd also like it broke in for proper calibration as well.

The blacks are very black but not pure black. There's a bit of brightness still there, but it's more than acceptable. In my opinion still better than any LCD I've seen, and even more important more uniform.

The remote is pretty awful, so maybe plan on replacing that with a Harmony or something.

SD signals are what they are SD. They tend to look a little worse on this plasma than they did before on the Sony, but I think a large part of that is just because of the bigger screen. Flaws and static are more readily apparent at 50".

I'm no videophile, so personally I'm not seeing any sort of green push. Sometimes I *think* I see it, but I can't totally convince myself it's not just the source because 99% of the time the picture looks great. I'm still looking to get it professionally calibrated down the road though, so I'll be curious to see what difference that makes.

This appears to be the lowest priced Realtek 1185 based player I've ever seen. Micca is not a big brand like Western Digital but I've seen their name mentioned on forums so they are at least "known". My AIOS player died and I wanted a replacement that also used the 1185. I don't have a 3D TV yet so the additional cost of upgrading to the Realtek 1186 was not worth it to me.

Unlike the AIOS, the Micca doesn't have an internal drive bay. I never actually installed a drive in the AIOS, but those who really want an internal drive bay should look at a different player. I stream my videos directly from my computer, and sometimes use a USB drive, and for that the EP100 is plenty good. Even though the LAN connection is 100mbps rather than full gigabit, local streaming worked like a champ and I had no issues streaming anything. Since the 1185 chipset is so mature, there were no surprises with the EP100, everything works in a familiar fashion, which is to say that everything plays and plays well. The remote control has great angle/range and the player's interface is simple and responsive. Like all Realtek network players, there are some Internet content links, but they are not really worth exploring. It would be far more productive to setup something like PlayOn DNLA server on the computer and use the EP100 to stream from that.

Build quality is great, like a solid hunk of aluminum, it feels very solid. The remote feels a tad light, but the buttons feel good. In all I don't see any quality sacrifices for the low price. I've played with it for a few nights now after receiving it earlier last week and I can be pretty confidently say that it's a great player that's powerful, well made, and stable.

I needed something that i could play my movies that were in avi mov mp4 divx etc. formats. And this truly delivered. It is so simple our 5 year old can use it. It is quick and easy, just a plug and play. It has other functions that I haven't used yet like a browser and Netflix. I bought this bc my ps3 or xbox 360 wouldn't play from external hard drives that are hundreds of gigabytes let alone the 1 TB passport i have. I think this goes up to 2 TB for external drives. It has 2 USB ports and the capability to copy and paste files in between drives (aka transfer files). For this price it is a deal hard to pass up. Extremely satisfied!

Arnova 10 501714 10.1-Inch Android Internet Tablet - Black

I have been messing with my Arnova for over a week now. I have talked to Amazon and Overdrive Media Console tech support to determine why it will not run the Amazon Appstore, Kindle or OMC app's. I bought this machine thinking I would have a reader that also acted as a tablet. Right now, I have a tablet that plays music and allows me to surf the net but it will not run any of the Amazon apps and I cannot get it to run OMC so you can download free books from the library. These are 2 of the most important reasons I bought the machine and they are not working.

The enclosed documentation is minimal, little more than a diagram of the controls. I have contacted Arnova twice via their automated support line and received no response even though it says you will hear from them within 2 business days. The device seems to start lagging once it has been on for a while, a shutdown and reboot brings it back but it is a pain. Public wifi is a headache but that could be the wifi too. Documentation is so bad you have to guess what is going on, for example, I keep dragging icons from the app screen to the home screen and have not been able to remove them.

In short, this is a device with a lot of kinks. If you are willing to work through them on your own the bargain is worth it. If not, get something else.

I recently purchased this item because it was on sale at an unbelievable price. I knew that I was not buying an iPad and that it would be somewhat limited by Android 2.1. However, I wanted something other than my iPod touch to travel with and felt like this would fit the bill. If I didn't like it I would give it to a family member. I just returned from my first trip with it. I purchased a case that included a tablet keyboard and stylus (the keyboard was smart move). First thing I must say is this: charge it up over night before attempting to use it. Once it gets the initial full charge you should be in business. Like a kid I plugged it in and started trying to use it...FRUSTRATING! Second, realize that this has a resistive screen meaning that you are going to have to press it harder than you would an iPod touch for instance. Get a stylus...it helps tremendously in this regard. For what I purchased it to do it works great. I use it to check email, surf the web for news sites, stocks, other sites of interest where I will not be using video. I am not a person who watches video much on web...I usually choose to read the news rather than watch it. Personal preference but I am writing about this as it fits my needs. It functions great. I was on a three day trip. Turned it on and off several times. Used it for 30-45 minutes at a time and it is still half charged (I forgot to take charger with me). The screen size and resolution is fine for me. I downloaded an app to write documents and it works great. I did purchase an SD card to use in it. I did attempt to watch a video just for the sake of trying it out and this was a little frustrating in the sense that I was not pleased with its performance. But again, not what I got it for so I am not upset. Just wanted to know what it would do. I have found a host of apps that fit what I want to use this thing to do. It functioned great other than the one time when it was updating the app library, I didn't notice that it was and attempted to do something that caused it to freeze. I just wait the 30 seconds for it to run thru its update when I turn it on and have had no problems.

IF...IF...you understand what this can do I think it can be very useful and inexpensive for a lot of people. If you think you are getting a cheaper iPad then save money for a real one. If you can live with what this machine was intended for then it can be a smart purchase.

I bought this tablet from JR.com via Amazon. When I got it, I spent a few hours on: checking responsiveness of the touch screen, installing apps, and testing speed. I have a HTC Evo 4G with android 2.2. So I compare this tablet with the performance with my cell phone.

Touch screen: the responsiveness is fairly under expectation. I kept getting missing letters when typing. Slow response when click a link in web browser. Comparing with my cell phone, this tablet is unacceptable.

Apps: I tried to install two apps which I installed on my cellphone. Those two apps worked perfectly on my HTC phone. However, both apps kept crashing on this tablet. No built in app store preinstalled on it. Not convenient.

Speed: I used three devices with the same WiFi hotspot to test web browsing speed. Laptop, cellphone, and tablet. This tablet is way too slow comparing with the other two devices when loading an average page, not image intensive. It is more like a 6+ year old laptop speed.

After looking at these three key aspects, I decided to spend some more dollars to get a solid tablet. Not this one.

My Arnova 10 arrived yesterday. Upon turning it on, the 1st thing it did was start calibration for the touch sensitivity. This is important because if you have a heavy touch, the screen will scratch. I'm being very careful about that.

This computer is solidly built. I had my mom up here helping me set up a hot spot for the wireless connection and she tripped over the charge cord dragging the tablet off of the table crashing to the floor. Considering I had JUST gotten it three hours before, I thought I was going to cry! But it was fine! I couldn't believe it!

One of the early things I did was uninstall some of the apps that I knew I had no interest in, like Eurosports. Nope. Don't need that. We went to start installing a couple apps like Angry Birds and the Kindle app for android. Angry Birds went on easy but didn't play well at 1st. It was REALLY laggy. But this morning I discovered how to turn off the background on the game and now it plays MUCH better.

I wish I could say the same for the kindle app. It was a bear to find a site that would actually download it. I kept going to the android marketplace to get it and everytime I would try to get it, the screen would just refresh and leave me sitting there staring at the same thing. No download. We finally managed to pull it down and install it off another site. So we went to Amazon and picked up a couple free kindle books there. Those two books are sitting on the archives on amazon right now. I try to bring them down to the device and it tells me something went wrong, to delete them and bring them back down from the archives. I don't know what's with that. So we went to project gutenberg and manually downloaded to the desktop a book. Hooked the tablet up to the desktop via USB and dragged the book to the tablet and into the kindle app. It runs like a dream that way.

If at 1st you don't succeed, try try again I suppose.

Yes, this is my 1st droid. I'm slowly getting the hang of using it. I don't believe this tablet would be for someone without at least some technical knowledge of computers. But for those people who know a lot of work-arounds, this tablet can be a lot of fun.

My Archos Arnova 10 is a keeper! Performs better than I expected. All for less than $200 including the shipping. It worked right out of the box. This is my first Android device, so I am learning as I go. Primary use is for reading the news and general light Internet surfing at home, coffee shops, and the library (similar to how I use my ipod touch only Arnova has a 10 inch screen). Plays Internet radio audio and videos, but doesn't appear to have flash player installed (I'm looking into that). No plans to use it for video games. Tablet is running Android 2.1 OS.

It has 4 GB internal storage vs only 2 GB for the generic tablets I compared it against. Plus the Arnova 10 accepts the micro sd cards for additional storage!

The screen is resistive (not a problem for me). The larger 10 inch screen makes it easier for me to use with no problems. If you really want the other type (capacitive screen) you could spend another $90 for the next model up.

Over all I'd say good job Archos with the Arnova 10! You have a great product I was looking for and purchased for under $200. Very pleased with the online merchant and shipper. I got my tablet in about 2 days!

Denon DNC615 Pro Rack Mount CD Player with Digital Output

A review on Amazon of another CD player, the Teac CD-P1250, said that it was the only single-disc CD player on the market. Nope, there's two. Well, one and a half anyway.

The Denon DN-C615 isn't exactly consumer gear, but it isn't exactly pro gear, either. It's got rack ears and pitch adjustment, and it's set up for a wired remote and output cascading, but the outputs are unbalanced RCA plus SPDIF. It has auto cuing and audible manual cuing within a track, but doesn't allow you to save cue points. So I think "semi-pro" is a pretty good description.

It's aimed at DJs, community radio stations, and sound reinforcement applications, and it wouldn't be out of place in a small studio for applications like sampling. And, what matters to my family, it drops right in to a home stereo system, so long as your cabinet can manage the rack ears (which don't look like they're removable except with a hacksaw).

The sound (even before break-in) is typical Denon: clear and airy, with both good definition and satisfactory thump in the bass, free of noticeable spurious harmonics. The controls and displays are easy to use and understand and don't have any immediately obvious ergonomic problems or bugs. It plays CD-Rs fine, both audio CD-Rs and MP3 CDs, and it allegedly plays CD-RWs, but I probably won't find out because CD-RWs and my computers don't get along.

MP3 files sound as good on the DN-C615 as I've ever heard them. You don't need to burn a special MP3 CD: it'll take plain data CDs with MP3 files on them and even lets you navigate through folders. But if you do give it a disc that's been burned as an MP3 CD, it'll run the playlist in order, which is a big improvement over my DVD player which plays MP3 files in some strange order I have yet to figure out. And I have to admit, seeing the song titles change as it plays is positively decadent.

The price is a little higher than I'd have liked, and unless you want to build a wired remote or have your chair real close to the player, you'll need a special remote (another US$40). But I do like the player so far.

I am not an audiophile but merely a lowly radio show host. I have been using this cd player at wwuh 91.3fm at the University of Hartford for the past year and have nothing but good to say about it. We use three cd players in our air studio and this one has withstood the test of time. Others have come, gone pfsst, and gone bye bye while this one remains. It is easy to use and functions flawlessly. We broadcast 24/7 so the equipment gets used relentlessly and sometimes ruthlessly. If you can tolerate a single cd player this one is great. The only flaw I find is the lag time between pushing play and getting output signal but I think that relates more to its integration to our control board rather than it being an idiosyncrasy of the unit.

Kind of expensive just for a CD player, but this unit is well built, rack mountable, easy to use and, best of all, sounds great. I bought a previously well reviewed CD player from Amazon a couple of years ago and, while still being used, pales in comparison. The sound that comes out of the Denon is "warmer" but much more transparent than the older one. You hear more throughout the frequency range (perhaps, less distortion) with better spatial depth. The Denon is heavier, so I assume its heavier case and better power supply contribute to a better base for the mechanical and electronic innards. All of a sudden, the price is very reasonable.

The sound quality on this Denon upholds the company's long-standing history of crystal-clear reproduction. I'd had my first CD player--an old Denon--for approximately 30 years, and had been nursing it along until it would no longer play a CD. I did this because I'd heard other brands over the years, name brands that had muddy or anemic sound quality, and I knew that I would be disappointed to downgrade from concert-hall reproduction to anything less. I can't express how happy I am to have a unit that is, if anything, even clearer than my old Denon.

The other reason that I held off so long on this purchase was that I'd read numerous reviews of other Denon units, and those reviews were very bad. Evidently, other players in the Denon line are not high quality; I cannot say from experience, mind you, only from what other purchasers have said. But this one is not like those. It is hefty and solid, not lightweight like so many others I've tested over the years. It loads and plays CDs without a hitch (other models evidently do what my ancient model did: fail to read the CD, and then refuse to open the drawer and let it go). The sound quality, as I've already said, is everything that one expects from Denon.

There are a couple of things that a purchaser should know in advance, however. First, this is a single-CD unit, not a changer. If you want a carousel style, this isn't it. Second, it does not come with a remote control. However, the remote from my old Denon works with this one--and it's 30 years old! So there's a chance that the remote from your old unit might work on this one. (I believe there is a separate remote available.) Finally, the case itself is normal size, but it has the rack-mounting "ears" sticking out on the front at either side. They add roughly 1-1/2 to 2 inches in width; that could be a concern if your space is restricted.

The $300 price tag is admittedly a shocker--especially for a single-CD player with no remote control. But you're paying for the very solid construction and the incomparable sound quality. If that's what you're looking for, you won't regret the expenditure.

Stanton is promoting this turntable to the mixing/scratching set. However, if you're an old coot like me who just wants a good quality turntable that will play your LP's, 45's and 78's, this is the one to get.

The STR8-150 is solidly built; the entire thing weighs about 36 pounds. The platter is a little lighter than some other turntables I've seen, but there's just no rumble at all. There are both analogue and digital outputs that allow you to hook up the turntable to practically any stereo, home theater system or computer (no special phono-level inputs required).

A bonus feature of this turntable is the variable speed control that allows you to actually play records as low as 16 rpm (used for some special use records) or up to 90 rpm (used on many early acoustic "78's").

A good quality Stanton cartridge comes with the turntable and a 78 stylus is available for it.

The only thing missing is a dust cover or an option to buy one as an accessory.

I had been studing this turntable for almost two years testing it against other tables in it's class and using it side by side with the Technics 1200. It has proven itself to me a very powerful piece of equipment. The torque instantly improved my skills as a turntablist. The stabilty amazed me, as I'm been scratching for about a combined 10 hours and it hasn't skipped yet. The 680Hp cartridges are excellent at holding their groove and the sound quality is also beautiful. The only two things that I found as a downside were the weight (36 pounds) and the Hyper White LED light is plug in and not pop-up. Being a mobile Dj it is a good thing to have a lot of weight when you are playing but bad when you are moving.

A common problem is hum. I solved my hum problem by putting a 2-prong adapter on the 3-prong power cord. That completely eliminated a very loud hum. The turntable is now as quiet as all the other components I have connected.

Solutions seem to vary.

Hum can also be avoided by ONLY connecting the digital coax and using that; but then, I was having an occasional dropout problem. Solving the hum problem now seems the better way and I suspect may have also fixed the dropout problem.

I haven't tried the phono output.

First of all a great advantage no extra AC power needed that is exactly what we understand as a super slim portable drive. An AC power supply is even not included in the box and it comes just with Y-USB cable. I have IBM X61s laptop, equipped with 3 x USB 2.0 and the NU drive works perfectly on it. They say it is compatible both to USB 1.1 and 2.0, I guess that is why they provided Y-USB cable for more power on older machines. The NU is cheaper than similar drives provided by TARGUS. About the software compatibility I can say it is plug and play, no problems. I burned few CDs and DVDs, everything was just fine. They were readable on other machines. It comes with NERO 8.0 some OEM version, but works great. The finish of this product is pretty good and the design is sleek. I think that is enough I love it.

I bought this DVD Burner for my ASUS Eee PC with Windows XP and it works great. It just plug and play as advertised. No need to load included driver. It's very slim and light and powers off from USB Y-cable which makes perfect for traveling. It comes with very simple instruction manual and Nero software. It burns and plays CDs and DVDs and the price is very cheap.

I also use the drive with my other computer, SONY VAIO occasionally, and it works great with it, too.

I've purchased a different DVD Burner, NU ESW846PRO, from NUI Digital. The product works great and I had a great experiencing purchasing from NUI Digital. So, I bought this one for my friend's birthday gift and she also loves it. She's not a computer savvy, but she said it's very easy to use, just plug and go. She also travels a lot and said the driver is so small and compact, it is easy to carry. Great buy!

External DVD burner doesn't work with windows media player, and Nero software demands me to buy a special plug in or pay for an upgrade for a full version Nero. It's an extortion.

It is not possible to use it without paying additional money and it doesn't work with iTunes or Windows media player, only with Nero. Partial version of Nero they supplied with DVD Burner crashes. Don't buy.

PEAK 4X STAND

When you take a picture in bright sun it is impossible to see the results without finding a shady place. I looked at several makers of this product, all with a higher price. I was not disappointed with this product. It does magnify the picture which some people don't want but I have found that the magnification allows me to see the sharpness better. It works great for me. The picture shows a white or fogged part of the device which some might think would let in light and defeat the purpose. However, that piece is removable. Haven't quite figured out why someone would use that part but who cares the point is this is a good product for a fair price. Received it in two days.

This is a wonderful product that preformes as expected. It in excellent for seeing your photos on viewscreen in the field.

I've recently installed three TV's using this mounting method. (What can I say...I'm a neat freak...I don't want to see wires.)

1. A 32" LED TV: The mounting hole pattern on this TV worked with the basic bracket no need to use the adapters.

2. A 42" Plasma: The mounting pattern on this TV did require the adapters. I had no trouble locating which way to install the adapters so I could attach it all to my TV.

3. A 55" Plasma: This one also needed the adapters. Again, no trouble with the installation of the Wall Mount Kit.

PRO's:

1. Installation to the back of the TV is simple.

2. Easy to hang onto the wall bracket. I was worried about how hard it might be to align to the hooks, you know...while you're actually CARRYING the TV, but it was much easier than I had anticipated. (There were two of us one on each end.)

3. Amazingly clean appearance. (We installed an electrical outlet and a cable outlet behind the TV, so that we did not have cables running up the wall. You do need to make sure you know where the wall mount will be placed on the wall, so that you know where the outlets can be without being blocked by the bracket.)

CON's:

1. None so far.

Observations:

1. I highly recommend putting your cable box into the wall mount, making the connections to the TV, and then routing the power & cable wires so that they exit the bottom (or sides) prior to hanging it up on the wall. It's much easier to arrange the "stuffing" while it's lying on a table, and you have access to the entire back side!

2. My remote controls (that came with the cable boxes) work well with all three installations. I did not need the "remote extender."

3. I thought we would need a lot of tilt for the bedroom TV, because the TV is high on the wall, and we'd be viewing from a reclined position. So we used the extension link to achieve the maximum angle. Wow...that's a lot of tilt angle! We had to take the extension link out, and actually set it up so that it's fully closed at the bottom, and fully open at the top...but without the extra link. This brings me to my next observation...

4. If you need to adjust the tilt angle of a heavy TV...take it off the wall first! We thought it would be easier to do while it was hanging on the wall...with one of us holding it in position, and one of us removing & re-installing the screws. It's NOT easier!

I bought this for a way to play my avi movies on the bedroom TV. The dvd player in the bedroom only plays dvd's it won't play avi movies or anything. I also have alot of stuff, mainly anime that's in RMVB format and was looking for a way to watch it on the TV versus a computer screen. I could have hooked the computer up to the HDTV in the living room but I'm lazy and didn't want to have to get up after each episode to start the new one. This little box does the trick. It does exactly what it says, plays several formats of files right on your tv. You can hook it up to a SDTV with the red/white/yellow cables of hook it to an HDTV with component cables, both are included. I only hooked to to my HDTV for a few min just to test it out. The picture quality was pretty good. It's going to be hooked up on my SDTV and the picture quality is just fine on it too. There's no bells or whistles on this thing just the basic functions which is all I need. The menu is pretty simplistic too. A screen to select what you want to play and it does have a preview window which is nice. It's very small and lightweight, about the size of a portable hard drive which is good if you need to bring it in the car or on a trip. One major thing to note, which almost pissed me off because I thought the thing wasn't working right..... The default setting is PAL and when you first hook it up the video will be all messed up. All you have to do is press the AV button on the remote and set it to NTSC. After that your set to go. Another thing to note is the default volume is set to mute so make sure you turn the volume up on the player before you get mad about no sound. Once you have those to things set it will keep you settings even if you turn it off or unplug it. Overall I am very happy with this unit. It does what it is supposed to do and for $25 it's a great value. I'd recommend this unit to anyone.

I bought this product for use with an SDTV because I have the Micca HD which does not work well with SDTVs. This is in the same category; it is not very compatible with regular TVs. The images were terrible, and then the product started freezing. Eventually, the light on the hard drive I had connected to the product started blinking and wouldn't work so I promptly repackaged the product and shipped it back. In all I played with the product for about 2 hours and it performed poorly. I was very disappointed.

I requested this for Christmas and received it as a present; big mistake. Nothing about this device is sturdy at all. The remote only worked about half the time, and when it did if often did so incorrectly. It claims to support a multitude of file formates but would only play a portion of my DIVx files--if they played, I had picture but no sound. It was the same with AVI files; some would play and others a message would come up saying that the file was not compatible with the unit. As all files play correctly on my laptop, I know that they are not corrupt. It's fine for viewing pictures, but the whole reason I wanted this was to view video files. To add insult to injury, when I went to unplug the AV cord from the outlet, it completely fell apart. The prongs separated from the power box, exposing and pulling free the wires from the circuit board inside.

I am hoping that this can be returned, but I won't be holding my breath.

I have ordered hundreds of items through Amazon and this is the first one I am returning, there is nothing good I can say about this product. The remote is barely functional, you have to mash down on the buttons and hold it down for at least a second before it responds. Scrolling through menus it jumps ahead or back making it very difficult to select what you want. The music has no random mode what so ever which baffles me entirely, combined with the garbage remote listening to music would be a nightmare and aggravating. I stopped there and sent it back, I didn't need to try it with movies because if it cannot handle music why bother? Even with using a powered hard drive every folder and file said zero bytes.

I guess you get what you pay for and to be honest I would keep it just because returning it will cost enough as it is but it's that bad. Sorry Amazon, I do not like returning products but you should stop selling this piece of garbage. Do not waste your time on this thing.
