Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Camera, and Video Player--International Version with Warranty

Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Camera, and Video Player--International Version with WarrantyThis phone is fantastic. It takes care of all my needs (phoning, scheduling, keeping track of people & data, etc.) while traveling around the world. It's sturdy and doesn't damage easily or initiate functions by accident. Easy to use and fun to use.

I love it, and this is the second Razr V3 that I've owned.

My only complaint is that it creates a completely different entry in the phone book for different phone numbers for the same contact. My old Razr V3t kept them all in the same line.

This was purchased for my husband who doesn't want anything that's difficult to operate. He likes it. Good clarity of sound and easy to use.

I've had this phone for almost a year and really did like it in the beginning. The sound was excellent, the button placement and size made dialing and texting fairly easy. I was very happy with it. Then it started to fall apart... the connections from the screen to the "base" started to go wonky. The screen just randomly goes black and seems to like to stay that way. If I squeeze and push the screen in just the right way I can get the picture to return, but that seems to be working less and less. Most of the time I am unable to see who is calling, what a text message says and I can't hardly use it to text to anyone. The rest of the phone is in great condition, but what good is all that when you can't even see it... :(

great phone even in a market where 2 years makes the last model seem laughable. i have yet to find a phone that has such a good feel to it, -not too small to use comfortably, yet still nice and thin. i only wish that the ringer could be turned up a little louder.

Sony DVC Cleaning Tape

Sony DVC Cleaning TapeI was really angry when my Sony mini DV player stoped working after only a couple of months. It seemed unlikely that the heads could have gotten so dirty so quickly. Turns out I ran into trouble because I bought some cheap DV tapes at salvage store. Acording to the blogosphere different tape brands use different chemicals which when mixed gets you into trouble. Much to my reliefe a few runs with the cleaning tape and it was back to taping my baby girl.

I have two different MiniDV cameras that both came up with errors for "dew" and "head needs cleaning" respectively. I bought this tape, popped it in, ran play for 10 seconds, popped it out.

Messages gone. Cameras work perfectly.

Couldn't be simpler.

There's really not much that can be said about a head cleaner, but I wanted to pass on that this particular one worked well for me. After the first cleaning, I had a noticeable difference in clarity on my video work. This tape is good for multiple uses and stays in my camera bag to called upon on short notice.

A month ago my Canon camcorder had these blocky lines going across the view finder. I use my camcorder ALOT and had this ZR500 for over two years. I thought it was malfunctioning due to my high usage and it's age. So I brought a new one but when I stuck one of my old tapes in the new one those same old lines would show up again. NOW WAIT A MINUTE! THIS IS A NEW CAMCORDER! Since the camcorder was new I was eligible for free tech support. When I called Canon they told me that the type I used was contaminated from the old one and I needed a MiniDV cassette cleaner. They had one to sell me for over $35. No thank! So I did some research on amazon.com and saw the great reviews on this Sony cassette for half the price.

I just used it last week on both camcorders and now they both record and play back fine. Here's the caution........... all tapes that were used in the dirty camcorder prior to cleaning need to be thrown away. I noticed that when I tried to transfer the date from the miniDV to my computer the thick lines were back. So after trail and error I regrettably had to throw all the contaminated MiniDVs away. Once I cleaned the old camcorder again with this Sony cassette I used new MiniDV tapes afterwards and never tried to reply any old ones. I am happy to say that it's working good as new. Now I have two camcorders when I could have just cleaned the first one. But I learned a valuable lesson and hope others will learn from my mistake.

This tape is TOP NOTCH!

Dell Axim X5 300 MHz Pocket PC

Dell Axim X5 300 MHz Pocket PCI worried and read every review available before getting the AXIM, so I'll share those things I most wanted to know before the purchase.

I purchased the AXIM X-5 300 on 11-26 with a ship date of 12-18. I received it on 12-9, a very pleasant surprise. The case is sturdy silver plastic with rubberized sides. I've had the AXIM in my hand for as long as 4 hours and, because of the size, shape and rubberized gripping surfaces, I have experienced no cramping or muscle tension. Very good human factors design in this instance. Most importantly, the unit feels secure in my hand with no sensation that it's slipping or that I'm about to drop it. With the screen setting as bright as it will go (and it is very, very bright and clear), I have used the AXIM for 16 total hours on it's original charge and have 40% of the battery remaining. This is not gaming, but does include about 1 hour of Media Player to watch video (excellent!). With the backup battery I have no fear of taking it until it shuts down. The stylus is OK, all metal except for the point, and better than those little round plastic styli. The Navigator button does not have an "enter" feature, but it does scroll appropriately. To see the real potential of the button it should be used in Excel. The speaker is limited, but there is a headphone jack (I have not used this yet). Otherwise, everything is sturdy and functional.

The synch software installed with no difficulty (HP laptop, P-III, w/XP) and I am very pleased with the Pocket PC interface and applications. It appears to be a very full-featured software package. At the entry-level price I have money left over to purchase some software I might really want (but it is such a good package, I have no clue what else I should buy. Look at your MS Office and Explorer and think "I can do all of this on a handheld").

This is my first venture into Pocket PC, and I made the appropriate choice with the AXIM X-5. I have the potential of my laptop and desktop in an extremely portable package. Don't worry about the size and weight of the AXIM; to me it is a non-issue. I cannot fairly compare the AXIM to other Pocket PC's, but it is almost exactly the same size as my Palm III-XE. As for weight, it's light enough. All of the other Pocket PCs I've seen and hefted are too big and too heavy. All of them. Everyone wants a matchbook size computer that throws out an 11X14 holographic screen that we can navigate through telepathically, and that weighs only 4 grams. Even at that size and weight people would carp that it's too big and heavy to be an earring. The AXIM is as light as a feather compared to any laptop. On a budget, it is outstanding. If budget were no limit, I say get a Winnebago to carry your servers, satellite uplinks, wet bar, and Jacuzzi.

...Unless you really loathe inserting a CF card (it just slips in the top), connectivity is a non-issue. Memory: CF, or Secure Digital cards that slip in the side (so you can have boat loads of memory). In the box: The AXIM; CD-ROM software; USB cable; charger; sturdy carry case; ubiquitous manual, quick start guide, warranty, etc.

First, if you don't have a PDA or not familiar with them, learn about them. You will be amazed how easy they are to use and with only a few options, the convenience they provide will save you a tremendous amount of time. They are becoming as natural and common us as the cell phone. If you know nothing about computers, this system is so easy you will feel smart!

Knowing the Dell's Axim X5 400 MHz is available, I didn't think that the 300 MHz was worth buying knowing that a more advanced version was already available. However, conversations with engineers more knowledgeable than I reminded me that I am buying a PDA not a server and that 300MHz is all the processor I would need. Also, the DELL AXIM X5 was one of three models that was always recommended. After doing my own research I had to agree. I purchased the Dell X5 300 MHz and buyers remorse set in. I thought I wasn't going to get as much use out it that I originally thought. I was wrong. Now, before I go anywhere, I pick up my PDA before my cell phone and keys.

Using the Dell provided software, installing activesync was very easy and the set up was effortless with my Microsoft Outlook. Dell and Microsoft made this install so easy I thought I did it wrong! I have the PDA synced to my Sony laptop and my Dell desktops. Remember, to disable your firewall protection before using the activesync. After the system has sync and you have exchanged files, enable you firewall. McAfee will disconnect your sync.

After just one week using my PDA, I bought a second PDA (same DELL 300 MHz) for my wife knowing we can share the accessories I bought. I packaged an extra battery, stylus, and screen protectors as well as additional memory, the wireless phone and camera. My only disappointment is the protective cases that I bought. I have both the leather and the hard case, neither have a belt option. I had to make a belt clip from a few cell phone parts. Hopefully Dell will offer a case that can be worn and has room for a money clip. I strongly recommend you take the time to learn about the PDA world. PDAs will replace your cell phone and provide a tremendous amount of assistance to you.

Buy Dell Axim X5 300 MHz Pocket PC Now

I've had my Axim for a few months now and I still love it. No troubles at all except when I enable WEP on my wireless card; I have to restart after inserting the card to recognize the network. I suspect this is related ot my no-name wireless card and not Dell's fault.

Only disadvantages are the size (it is much larger than other handhelds). I knew this going into it and I find the size comfortable to hold, though it doesn't fit into all of my pockets. The other disadvantage is the Dell support. I haven't had to deal with them since I know a bit about computers, however I ordered my PDA from Dell and was going away in 2 weeks. Their estemated delivery time was one week so I thought I was good. Turns out their site doesn't update daily and the unit was on back order. I had to argue with supervisors for 4 days before I finally got someone who got the situation resolved. All the others would say they will make sure it will ship today, then they 'forget' about it.

As long as you order from Amazon that shouoldn't be an issue. The fact is that only 25% of the service reps at Dell speak english without a THICK accent, and only 25% of those people really care about their job enough to go out of their way to help customers.

What it comes down to is I love the PDA, but hate Dell and can't recomend this product to anyone who can't troubleshoot software issues with the device.

P.S. Dell shipping and handling is a KILLER! If you are planning on buying accesories make sure Amazon or another retailer has what you need or you will end up paying $7 shipping on screen protectors that weigh nearly nothing.

I purchased my 300 MHz Axim X5 from Dell in mid December and it arrived about 2 weeks later. This is my very first pocket PC, although I did have a Palm V about 2 years ago. This thing just amazes me. The screen is nice and bright... the style is very comfortable to hold (rubber sides).

My choices for pocket PCs were the Toshiba e740, the HP IPAQ 1910, and the Dell Axim X5 mainly because they were all under $... after rebates. The 300 MHz Axim is by far the cheapest and the best value since it has dual expansion slots (SD and CF). I am currently using a Netgear CF Wireless adaper card to surf the internet anywhere in my home.

Bottom line... the Axim is the best PDA for the best price. I love mine!

I highly recomend these handheld, i had a iPAQ before which I bought, these device is one third of the price and has everithing built in with out the hassle of carring a lot of ad-ons. But among all the reasons i can find to recomend this device is the promt support and extended warranty of 3 years from Dell wich I have experienced for many years now.

I bought it from dell on-line store.

Sony DCRTRV33 MiniDV 1megapixel Camcorder with 2.5" LCD, Color Viewfinder & Memory Stick capabiliti

Sony DCRTRV33 MiniDV 1megapixel Camcorder with 2.5' LCD, Color Viewfinder & Memory Stick capabilitiesI would like to give my opinion and view on Sony TRV33 model. I know how important a review of a product

is. After a month of research on camcorders, I had two options Canon ZR70MC or a Sony TRV33. Both of these

models had their own good and bad points. But ultimately I bought the TRV33 because of the following

reasons which I think clearly surpassed Canon.

Pros:

1. Clear, crisp and detailed video.

2. Best Image quality when compared to Canon.

3. Excellent low-light performance when compared to Canon.

4. Mind blowing Nightshot in total darkness, though in Greenish tint.

5. Carl Zeiss Lens definitely has proved its name and quality.

6. Image quality when downloaded on PC using a USB 2.0 was "excellent" both indoors and outdoors.

7. The 1.0 MB still pictures are OK but not fair, best for sending an email.

Cons:

1. 10x Optical, but I did not get a chance to use beyond 10x. Technically anything beyond 15x Optical

would produce shaky video unless on a tripod.

... If price is a constraint, I would request my readers to also check the TRV22, but

purchase with a long term perspective and image quality and optics matter a lot when deciding on a

camcorder. Sony truly shines in that aspect.

Good camcorder hunting !

I've owned a number of Sony digicams (most recently the PC110) and decided to upgrade for some new features like analog pass-through (hook a VCR up to the camcorder to capture directly to your computer). I first tried the TRV70, but returned it and got this one instead. The 70 is a very different camera...considerably larger and with much better stills, but more expensive. I decided to go with the 33 because I wanted something smaller. The digital stills from most camcorders aren't going to be anywhere as good as from a halfway decent digital camera, so not a reason to pay a lot more. I got the same size LCD touch screen (a nice new feature!) and one thing I like about this model over the 70 is that the zoom is not so fast! The 70 has the same kind of zoom control, but it's very touchy and it's very hard to do a gradual zoom. The 33 allows much better control. Well, unless you have a need to do really fast zooms. I prefer to have one that does not. I find this is particularly important if you want other people to use the camera...anytime I gave someone the 110 to use, they had problems with that touchy zoom! This is an issue on a lot of Sony camcorders, I really wish they would correct it across the board.

Image quality is good and I personally don't have problems with motor noise, it's pretty typical for camcorders this size. The 10x zoom is decent, I looked at the Canons that were 20X zooms, but their image quality was not as good. The touch screen is great for features like spot focus and metering. I find it a lot easier to use than the myriad of buttons all over the camera that most models use.

Another new feature is the ability to quickly check the battery life on the camera without powering it up. I've sometimes thought it was charged when it was not and missed being able to film as a result, so this will be a lifesaver! The Sonys are great about telling you how much time is left on the battery and the tape.

Overall, an excellent camera I would highly recommend.

I read all of the reviews here and went through exhaustive research before I purchased the TRV33.

First, the infamous buzzing noise. This had me very nervous since it appeared to be the one constant complaint in these reviews. Yes when you operate the camera there is camera noise. There also has been camera operating noise on every other camcorder I have owned over 15 years. It is no different from any other camcorder. As far as recording noise goes, if your footage is in a dead silent environment, then yes, the noise is slightly audible. Not annoying, not a "loud buzzing", just slight mechanical noise. If there is any amount of background noise in your footage, the "buzzing" is not noticeable at all. As a matter of fact, I edit footage in Final Cut Express on a Mac, and the noise in so slight that it doesn't even register on the audio meter.

Having said that, I will let you know that the features are fantastic, the camera is easy to use (I shot footage and transferred to my Mac through Firewire without even reading the directions) and the video footage is great. The LCD Touch Screen is fantastic as well.

The only negative thing I noticed so far is that when the footage was captured to the Mac it seemed to lose some of its clarity. When I hooked it up to my TV via composite video and played directly from the camera it rivaled DVD quality. But when I captured it to the Mac it seemed to be more jaggy and the colors we darker. I haven't burned a DVD yet to see how the final product looks, and there may be some settings I can change as well but other than that this is one fantastic camera!

If you are reading this review and are shopping for a MiniDV camcorder you are in the learning mode for shopping. Isn't Amazon.com a great place to learn about electronics such as this. I will be happy to share my experience with this camcorder so far. This review is all about money and how I decided finally that with consumer level electronics you do usually get what you pay for. The camcorder that we origionally purchases when we were ready to buy a MiniDv camcorder was by Sharp. It was about half the cost of the Canon and Sony models that were being sold by its side. I took notice that there were often large rebates for Sharp camcorders that hammered the price down to a very low price that was just too good to pass up. Due to numerous unfortunate issues with this camera our memories that were recorded were trashed due to what I can say was just poor build quality. So the rule is don't buy a KIA and expect it to provide you with the memorable experience of a Honda/Toyota etc. Right???

Here is the good stuff. This camera is worth every dime that Sony is asking for it. After reading some reviews the only negative thing that you may read is that you can hear the motor working when recording or playing back a tape. I say that but you really would have to be listening for this to hear it. My DVD player makes more noise than this unit. So some folks really need to get a grip. More sound insulation in the area that houses the motor for the camcorder would cure this but there is really no room for anything else to be stuffed in there. This in NO WAY means that this noise is at all recorded on your tape. Anything that Sony makes in Japan seems to keep with the origional high standards that this company is known for. This camera is made in Japan and everything from the quality of construction to the quality of the images that you will see on the TV screen will just amaze you. The colors are just perfect and the sound is more than what I expected from a compact recorder. Enjoy the TRV33 if it is the final choice that you make in this search for a good camcorder. If it is a bit high for your budget then check out the TRV19 and the TRV22. The TRV19 may be the best buy that I have seen in the MiniDV world yet.

All in all this camera is compact, efficient and it is ergonimically perfect when it is held in your hand. After you purchase the Camcorder register it with Sony online. After you have done so they will most likely send you a 20% off coupon in your email to buy upgrades for the new product that you have purchased. WIth this cupon go ahead and upgrade the battery for the camcorder to at least the FM50. The FM30 that is included is just not sufficient to be the main battery. It will be a nice backup for you in a pinch but should not be relied on. The FM50 should have been standard issue IMO. Happy shopping!

Want Sony DCRTRV33 MiniDV 1megapixel Camcorder with 2.5" LCD, Color Viewfinder & Memory Stick capabiliti Discount?

One of the major considerations for me in buying a camcorder was the size. My family has owned several camcorders and they've been bulky enough that after a few months when the "new electronics" glow has worn off, nobody wants to lug it around on vacations, to amusement parks, camping, etc. It's just too much of a hassle.

I've purchased a DCRTRV33 and LOVE this thing! The PC interface through firewire (IEEE 1394) is flawless--I just plugged it in and it worked beautifully with Pinnacle Studio 8. It's packed with features, has a great picture and sound.

I've read other comments about the noisy motor and it's true that the motor is a little louder than I thought it would be. However, after indoor recording in quiet rooms for testing, I haven't been able to hear the motor during playback on my computer or TV. I think it's a negligible problem that wouldn't deter me from a purchase of this otherwise amazing piece of technology.

8 Functions Jumbo Universal Remote Control TV VCR Cable DVD Satellite

8 Functions Jumbo Universal Remote Control TV VCR Cable DVD SatelliteI already had what appeared to be the same remote that I bought locally (it was the ONLY one they had!), and this one looked like the same one. But once I got it I discovered that the number of brands it has codes for is VERY LIMITED and does not include a lot of major brands!! Even when I tried using the codes from the booklet in my other remote all I can get to work is the TV function. My DVD player, stereo, CD player etc are all less than a year old (my cable box is older though...) and are all major brands, and this remote doesn't have the capability of operating ANY of them. I have spent about 4 hours using the Code Search function to try every code in it on them, and still have control of ONLY my 8 year old television!! While it LOOKS exactly like several others (including one that operates everything) it definitely is NOT as versatile as others!!! My ONLY complaints are about the remote itself, the seller shipped it quickly and did everything required of them.

Bought this remote for a new TV so my wife could have her own remote with larger buttons. The remote works well but it was a learning experience about remotes in general and the complexity of a television's on screen menu's that an inexpensive remote must work with.

The problem I did have using this remote was I may hit a menu controlling button on the remote by accident when I only wanted to change channels. This mistake would take me into the TV's menu with no way to control or back out of the menu with this remote. Again it's not this remote but the complexity of the new TV menus and having all of these buttons on a remote that does not have all of the manufactures function programmed into it.

May solution was to buy a remote with just the basic buttons large enough for my wife to see.

The other thing I learned is I need to get a extra remote from the manufacturer that function properly incase I break the one that came with the TV. A more expensive learning remote may also be a solution.

VIZIO 3D Blu-ray player with Wireless Internet Apps, VBR333

VIZIO 3D Blu-ray player with Wireless Internet Apps, VBR333
  • The ultimate movie experience with Full HD Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and VIZIO Internet Apps
  • Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity with Internet Apps for access to Netflix, VUDU HD movies, Pandora internet radio, and more
  • Enjoy up to 7.1 channels of 100% lossless digital audio output via HDMI with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio technology
  • Plays Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray Discs for full, high-definition 3D and 1080p video playback
  • Upscales your existing DVD library to 1080p quality; plays audio CDs as well as MP3s/JPEGs via USB for added versatility

I see a lot of bad ratings about this Blu-Ray player. The only thing bad about this player is the remote control. The complaint you've heard about it being clunky is true. As far as the Blu-Ray player is concerned it can't be any better. The quality and speed is quick and precise. The complaints about the menu being confusing is just not so. It is on par with the sony and samsung players I have had. The quality and video streaming is quick and accurate. It has no problems holding the HD steam. The Roku Box I have does seem a tad quicker in locking on to the movie and starting the stream. But once the Vizio locks on I have no problems watching standard or HD movies on netflix. This player is definitely the best player for under $200.00. The base is deeper and the quality is cleaner compared to the Samsung BDP-1500 I had in the past. If you can put up with a clunky remote this player is definitely excellent quality. Highly recommended.

Buy VIZIO 3D Blu-ray player with Wireless Internet Apps, VBR333 Now

Bought this at Wallyworld on sale yesterday cheaper than Amazon offered which is a first for me! We brought it home, took all of about 4 minutes from box to start-up. It found our router easily and logged on securely within a minute or two. Updated the firmware and came up with additional TV aps that were not on it out of the box. Pandora, VUDU and Netflix stream wonderfully, and our router is in a room 30+ feet away and through three walls. This unit even programmed the weather App to our location on it's own, which I still have not figured out how it did that. The Blu-ray picture is awesome on our older JVC 30" CRT HDTV Model AV-30w777, and the Apps are a bonus. We look forward to upgrading to a Vizio LED 3D TV eventually and this will be the first piece in place.

We just returned a Magnavox with WIFI Built in Model#: MBP5130/F7 because it was horrible with WIFI reception and took forever to spin up. The Vizio makes that one look like it came from the Flinstone's era.

While yes the Vizio remote is a bit clunky as others have said, it works just fine for my big hands, and having to press hard on the buttons is no big deal, especially when we were programming the wireless WIFI authenification code. The front panel operating controls are touch sensitive vice buttons, which is not only pretty cool but leaves less buttons to wear out in the future. Overall a wonderful product, great picture and excellent deal when you can find one! Great Job Vizio!!!

Panavise 809 Camera Window Suction-Cup Mount

Panavise 809 Camera Window Suction-Cup MountDue to the low price and generally good reviews, I bought this item. The suction grip is very strong; there seems to be no risk that this will fall off a window even with a small camcorder attached. Mine did not come with the extension arm, so my camcorder had to be mounted upside down on the windshield. The image can easily be rotated 180 degrees within Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 editing software, so being upside down is not a problem for me. Furthermore, having an extension arm might likely result in less stability, so it's probably best to use the shortest/sturdiest mount possible. (I haven't tested that claim so it might not be true.) My camcorder, with optical image stabilization, zoomed all the way out for the widest view (also the least sensitive to vibration), and driving on a reasonably smooth paved road even as slow as 20mph exhibited very noticeable vibration. The vibration is too great to use the video. Much smoother video is obtained by hand holding a camcorder in a moving vehicle; your body and arms act as shock absorbers and dampen vibration preventing it from reaching the camera. With this mount, small vibrations from the moving vehicle are transmitted directly to the camcorder and it seems to be amplified by the time it gets there. Furthermore, my high-definition camcorder, with a CMOS image sensor (which uses a "rolling shutter"), exhibits noticeable skewing artifacts from frame to frame as a result of the vibration, so there are not just blurred frames and jittery motion, but distorted frames as well. Consequently, even using a motion stabilization algorithm during post production won't produce acceptable results.

This mount should be excellent for situations where there is no vibration and no need to pan or otherwise modify the camera settings or view during exposure, but seems useless from a moving vehicle unless it's moving very slowly on smooth pavement.

---------IMPORTANT UPDATE -----------

I just noticed a few recent reviews that mentioned they received a knock-off, rather than a genuine Panavise 809. After studying the Panavise picture on this page very closely, I see that my unit is not a genuine Panavise 809, either. (There is no manufacturer or product ID on my unit or on the packaging, so I have no idea who manufactured it or what its true model name is.) I purchased my unit from Vangoddy through amazon.com. Perhaps that explains why so many other reviews are so good (especially the video review left by Thomas which shows, though at slow speed, how good his unit works) and my results are so bad -and I mean BAAAD, truly unusable. There is no comparison between the results I obtained and those that Thomas showed in his video.

This clearly is designed to be a CCTV mount. As such, with most CCTV cameras having top mounted attachment, I have no doubt that it works flawlessly. It is very well constructed and does indeed have amazing suction power and solid construction without any "wriggles".

I bought it hoping that I could use it on the fairly steeply raked windshield of a late model Civic to film driving routes with my digital camera. Even though I have a low profile "ultracompact" digital camera, there was not enough room between the windshield and the mount to allow me to mount the camera unless I mounted it upside down, which I obviously could not do because of the inability to rotate the resulting movie.

FORTUNATELY I discovered that the Civic has a flat non-porous ( i.e. plastic ) top gauge cover, and was able to mount it on that. But the vast majority of cars have curved top gauge covers, so I don't think this will be suitable for any but a few car models for the purpose I'm using it for.

If Panavise could come up with the same assembly and a U shaped holder for mounting a camera with a standard tripod screw thread from the bottom, BELOW the mount now that would be far more useful.

The product is really awesome.

The only thing you need to be careful is the extension arm.

If you have an oversized camera or a camcorder, you'll definetely

need an extension arm which originally doesn't come with the product.

Please see my user photos after January 8th, 2010.

The user photos showing the extension arm are a little confusing.

I bought a geniune one directly from the Amazon, and it doesn't have

the extesion arm which I later got directly from PanaVise. The guys

over there are terrific, and extremely helpful. They said the model

with the extension arm should be called as 809-X.

The video was recorded with Xacti 1010

I passed over two railroad crossings (at 1:44 and 3:33), the road

was terrible. The vibration and shaking is acceptable.

When I first got into highway videography, I purchased a small Aiptek camera Aiptek IS-DV2.4Blue MPEG-4 Digital Camcorder with Video Stabilization (Blue) and I was looking for a windshield mounting option. I purchased this unit but the angle of the mounting arm made it unusuable with my truck windshield. So I sent it back to Amazon and opted for a Sunpak Clik n Stick mount Flexpod Click N' Stick Suction-cup Monopod. I recently upgraded to a Panasonic SDR-H40 videocam Panasonic SDR-H40 40GB Hard Drive Camcorder with 42x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and needed something a little more substantial to hold the bigger, heavier camera. I originally thought that this unit, attached to one of those GPS friction mount pads that can be placed on the dashboard, would be perfect, but then I found out that Panvise now includes a mounting arm extension with this unit. (See the customer photo that shows the extension arm and a camcorder mounted in a car). So I bought another one. This appears to be just the solution for mounting a video camcorder in a vehicle. If you order one and the extension arm isn't included, just contact Panavise directly and they will send you the extension arm for free. No instructions for installing the mounting arm extension were included, but it's pretty easy to figure out how to install it. This unit holds tightly and seems to be pretty stout and secure. The mounting arm extension Panavise now includes makes all the difference in the world. I think the company realized that there is now a market for sturdy vehicle camcorder mounts. I recommend this highly! Can't wait to try out this setup and see how it works!

Purpose brought: Used to make mounted vehicular videocam.

Pros: When set properly, this device sticks like glue!

Cons: Small swing arm limits mounting positions.

The suction seal is very strong and after two weeks I still can't physically remove it unless I use the pressure release lever.

The small arm limits the placement and use of a camera (ie: camera is inverted when mounting on a windshield), but it is perfect for holding small camcorders and digital cameras on a smooth, non-porous upright surface.

If you already have a small handheld videocam and wish to use it as a vehicle cam, Use this and a 90mm mounting pad mounted on top of the dashboard as a cheap alternative to buying a dedicated vehicle camera.

Great product but only 4 stars due to the small swing arm.

TosLink to Mini Optical Cable, 2m

TosLink to Mini Optical Cable, 2mAcer Ferrari newbook wouldn't tell me from customer service but THIS is the proper cable to get digital audio output over to my outboad DAC. My little netbook now has place of pride in a second small but very "high end" audio system in my study. The tip of this headphone jack cable has a hidden fibre optic wire to send digital out of the Acer using spdif-optical. The other end is your typical optical fibre optic spdif plug for audio "in."

Supersonic MP3/CD Player with iPod Docking, USB/SD/AUX Inputs, Cassette Recorder & AM/FM Radio

Really did not believe it would sound this good at this price. Absolutely the best buy I have made in a long time. Will definitely be adding an extended Square Trade Warranty soon. We leave it on a dresser, turn it on, change tracks, change input, adjust volume, all by remote. This remote does everything except have a timer to turn it off after you fall asleep. Works and sounds great. Might have to buy a back-up at this price, just to be on the safe side.

Buy Supersonic MP3/CD Player with iPod Docking, USB/SD/AUX Inputs, Cassette Recorder & AM/FM Radio Now

It's not easy to find a cassette recorder / cd player anymore. This offers both, and has a quiet, discreet design that actually looks good on a shelf (not the garish overblown monster design of other units). I'm not embarrassed to have this sitting on my shelf where people can see it.

The USB slot is a great addition it offers hours of music that you customized yourself!

The frequency response is narrower than higher-priced units like the $350 Yamaha shelf system, but the sound is clear and crisp from the cd. We've enjoyed listening to it. The radio tuner is weak. We live in town, and all the stations have a strong signal, and this thing always had the distortion that comes from being slightly off-signal. That's disappointing, but at this price you have to accept that it's a good cd player, probably a good USB player, but a poor radio.

Sony makes better cd / cassettes. USB players are available without the older technology. This brings it all together in one package, though with some poor results. Other reviews say this will fail in a few months. I'll write another reveiw in a while and report on its condition then.

The volume knob was broken off out of the box. I went to glue it back on but it was obvious that a piece of the post had completely broken off. No sign of the piece anywhere making me wonder if it was knowingly shipped that way. My son threw away the box so I guess he is stuck using the remote for volume control.

I bought this little "boombox" (with detatchable speakers) to use at band rehearsals when we want to listen to previous recordings of songs we're "covering," whether on CD or audio cassette or mp3 files. The quality is adequate to hear the essentials, although I wouldn't use the unit for careful study of important recordings. The controls are largely cheaply-made mechanical buttons, etc., but that's what I expected at this price.

Q-See QS558-493-1 8-Channel Full D1 DVR with 3 High-Resolution Cameras, 1 Pan-Tilt Camera and Pre-I

Q-See QS558-493-1 8-Channel Full D1 DVR with 3 High-Resolution Cameras, 1 Pan-Tilt Camera and Pre-Installed 1 TB Hard DriveThe Q-See QS558-493-1 8-Channel Full D1 DVR is an example of how far technology has advanced in the past 10 years. Video surveillance systems used to be the exclusive toys of the mega rich and military for use in monitoring property for signs of intrusion. Now consumers like me can use these systems and get much better image quality than anyone had just 10 years ago!

Please note that this is a kit which requires you to mount and connect cables to various pieces of electronics.

The key factor for me in choosing this system was the claim it could record 30FPS @ 704x480 for each of its eight video channels. Before installing this system, my home used a GeoVision GV-650B in a full size desktop computer to record 4 channels of video. The problem with the GeoVision cards is that they will not record at full 30FPS even with high performance SSD SATA hard drives! As a result, the camera video was always choppy and would often miss fast moving objects. The Q-See QS558-493-1 records all this detail and in my opinion adds a whole other dimension to my security recording because I can now choose from 30 frames every second to pinpoint a license plate or face.

Installing this system was rather simple for me because I already have four video surveillance cameras and the wiring installed in my home. I simply disconnected my large computer and plugged in the cables to the back of the DVR box and each of the video channels came up right away on my 24" monitor in 1080P. Each of the cameras come with plenty of cable to run through your wall into the ceiling and outside for outdoor surveillance needs. Most importantly, the Pan-Tilt camera also comes with the special control cables as well.

The Pan-Tilt camera is really the ultimate way to use a video surveillance system. For years at my home, I have wished for the ability to control the viewing angles on my fixed cameras because it takes at least 15 minutes of running in an out of my home to fine tune them. You will want to put this special camera in a high traffic observation area at your home or office to get the most potential out of it.

The 3 bullet video cameras that come with this system are 600TVL and good enough to show facial features from 30ft away at night. The Pan-Tilt camera offers 650TVL and the video really does seem to be more in focus at night but still 30ft is your maximum for facial clarity. Over the past ten years, I have also installed several LED Infrared Illuminators in key areas of my yard that the video cameras are recording. You may want to do the same if theft or your personal safety is a concern.

The DVR unit has a 1Tb hard drive in it. After all my cameras were hooked together, there were a total of 5 video streams recording full time. The hard drive filled up quite fast in this mode and seems to have about 20 days of storage ability. Like other video surveillance systems, it will recycle the recorded video by deleting the oldest first to make room. Please note that I was able to place a 120Gb Intel 520 series SSD inside this DVR and it worked. You should be able to place larger hard drives in this DVR if you ever have the need.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this video surveillance kit from Q-See. You get everything you need to begin recording video in almost any accessible location up to 50ft away in your home or office. For those of you who already have a video surveillance system, I still believe this is a worthwhile purchase for the Pan-Tilt Camera and impressive DVR unit which gives you remote access options for the iPhone.

I wanted a system that would record video and not just allow me to have a live feed. This is the perfect system.

Setup was relatively easy. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. My biggest complaint with the setup is the screen. I set it up using my TV (42" plasma) and found that I could not see the "Start" button (or any of the other buttons). Also, during the setup if I walked away for more than 2 minutes, the screen closed and disappeared--I could only get it back by restarting the system (which includes are loud annoying beep on startup). Once I was finally able to speed through setup, I had no issues. I did find that the PTZ camera is defaulted to be in the camera 1 position, so if you try to put it on one of the other camera ports, it will not work.

My biggest complaint is the iPad app. I use an iPad mini and the app is a mess. It has to be in portrait mode to start or it doesn't seem to work. And if you try to turn it to landscape and then back, it freezes again. I kept trying to touch the "buttons," but nothing registered. It was beyond frustrating.

Overall, this is a great system with nice clear pictures in both day and night. The PTZ is a huge bonus to cover large areas. As usual, the most frustrating part of installation is the mounting of cameras since they are wired and need power, but it is no more complicated than any other hardware mounting with power. A great way to have comfort knowing what is going on at your home or business while away.

Buy Q-See QS558-493-1 8-Channel Full D1 DVR with 3 High-Resolution Cameras, 1 Pan-Tilt Camera and Pre-I Now

This is my first foray into higher-end home security systems. I'm used to single cameras costing less than a Benjamin which try to let you view remotely via an iPhone app, but they're night and day in terms of capability and quality.

I was curious how I'd like a more robust (and expensive) system such as this and I now understand that this system is actually a pretty strong value. The pan/tilt camera in particular may not look like much in the photo, but is a grapefruit-sized, metal-constructed, hefty unit that has a box almost as big as the others combined. I was expecting a cheap, plastic-encased number (like my other cheapo cameras), but instead you could practically use the thing as a kettlebell. SOLID construction.

Installation isn't quite as bad as I feared (some cameras can use AC adapters instead of having to fiddle with bare wires) and there's a wealth of modular Q-See parts online if, for example, the included cable isn't long enough to reach your DVR from where you placed the camera.

The feature set of this is pretty fantastic, too. The ability to view multiple cameras remotely is something definitely lacking from lesser systems, and weatherproof cameras make the setup much more than the nanny-cams I'm accustomed to. I'm not overly enthusiastic about the DVR (it would almost certainly be stolen itself in case of a break in), but I suppose motion-tripped email alerts with photos help preserve an intruder's face even without a DVR.

Overall a well-constructed, remarkably modular system that's a step above what I've experienced in the past.

I used my Q-See Security Camera kit for my local business. It was set up by a professional because no, I am not handy and would not trust myself with mounting it myself. It was quickly tested when I was called away on an emergency and needed to access my store. Everything you have read, is true. It's an incredible system and a breeze to use. I think the feature I enjoy the most is panning in even when it is DVR'd. Whoever thought technology would be here at this price? It's an incredible value! Solid 5 stars no second thoughts at all.

Want Q-See QS558-493-1 8-Channel Full D1 DVR with 3 High-Resolution Cameras, 1 Pan-Tilt Camera and Pre-I Discount?

I have a small business and this system is perfect. I installed the system myselft, not recommended for anyone. The hard part was the physical part of it; mounting the cameras and the wiring. The system itself worked like a charm once all the part were installed. I didn't really have any high expectation of this system, so I was quite impressed with the video quality and the DVR features. The only bad, i guess would be, is that there's only 1 tilt camera. I wish all were tilt cameras. But, the quality of video is good enough to recognize the face. I like how i can monitor my business from outside the office. I like that i can monitor my employees while out. I really like the recording feature. During working hours, i have it recroding the whole time, at night, i put it on motion detection.

Panasonic RQSW44V Shockwave Personal AM/FM Cassette Player (Yellow)

Panasonic RQSW44V Shockwave Personal AM/FM Cassette Player
  • Water resistant with rubber-cushioned body and twist lock
  • Large LCD display
  • AM/FM digital tuner with 20 presets (10 AM, 10 FM)
  • Up to 25 hours' playback on a single AA battery
  • Includes lightweight headphones, 4 AA batteries, and a detachable belt clip

I bought this puppy about three months ago and haven't stopped using it since I took it out of the package. Aside from it's sporty yet stylish aesthetic, it functions like a dream! The digital "hold" button is my favorite feature (it's great to be able to toss it into a backpack and not have to worry about having the radio turned on after a little bit of josteling).

The only reason it didn't get a five-star rating from me is because the headphones that come with the Shockwave leave something to be desired. During my morning run I was constantly forced to reposition them; the headband kept slipping off or an ear piece would wriggle out. Maybe it's just the shape of my head. . . . Still, I love the Shockwave and would highly reccommend it.

I have owned one for four months. I have mixed feeling

about it. It is a very durable walkman. I accidentally dropped it twice on concrete and there was no damage. Everything

worked fine on the walkman. My battery and cassette did not fly out upon impact. I am rough on my walkmans, which is

why I brought this Panasonic. The battery compartment is inside the cassette compartment, which prevents the battery

from coming out upon impact. The cassette lid locks securely. The FM reception switch works well. It helps prevent

interference from stronger stations. It's now time for the negatives. Panasonic should have equipped this walkman with

good, conventional headphones. These "in ear" type headphones come loose often. When I ride my bike on a bumpy

road, I have to re-adjust the headphones too often. I suspect joggers have the same problem. This Panasonic model has

the weakest super bass (they call it XBS) I have heard. The bass is too light. Panasonic's own RQ-CR15V delivers more bass. The sound quality is decent, but it needs more bass. The FM reception switch

is located inside the cassette compartment, which is inconvenient to operate when riding a bicycle. The play time (tape)

with one battery is good, but it's not 25 hours. If you have the XBS on and the volume is high, you can expect about 17

hours of play time. I suspect that is why Panasonic gives you four batteries. And last, this walkman is design to play

normal position (type 1) tapes only. You won't benefit from playing high bias (Type II) tapes. Type II tapes are generally

superior to type I. On this walkman, normal position (type I) tapes sound better. If you invested in a lot of high bias tapes,

look for a walkman that has a switch for normal position (type I) and high bias (type II) tapes. That is something I

neglected to do. Overall, I am a little disappointed with the Panasonic RQ-SW44V, but it is very durable.

I really am enjoying this walkman. It is great quality and looks nice too. I gave it only 4 stars because there was an armband promised with it and there isn't one. The hand grip, lap counter, and sound is great. I am getting one for my mom. I definitely recommend it.

The quality of the cassette player itself is very, very good. It is extremely durable.

But, as other reviewers have indicated, the headphones are terrible. They are hard unyielding plastic and flat out hurt.

If you buy this player, plan on buying some other headphone. I bought PHILLIPS #sbcHS303 for $10.00 at Target. They are 3-way flexible and adjustable to your ear. The sound is very good and they are comfortable.

Samsung HMX-H100 HD Flash Memory Camcorder with10x Optical Zoom

Samsung HMX-H100 HD Flash Memory Camcorder with10x Optical ZoomI actually bought this camera from another store that had a huge sale and saved a ton of money even with a 2 year warranty. I'm actually a college student majoring in visual communications. This camera easily transfers data from the camcorder or just using the SDHC cards directly inserted to any PC. The editing software is basic and not thrilling by any means. If your an average individual looking to slice and dice footage this camcorder is perfect for you. The files are saved as compressed .MP4s. If your looking for another level of editing such as myself using Premiere Pro or Final Cut, you must convert the files. Easiest way to achieve this is taking the .MP4s and upload them into Quick Time Pro 7 (can be downloaded for Macs or PCs). From Quick Time you have to save the files as .MOVs. If you do not do this loading the files in an editing program you will only be able to get the audio. As well Quick Time is 30 bucks and no need for expensive converting programs out there. As far as the audio is concerned it is excellent as the picture is. Wind can give you some trouble even with the wind screen, but what condensed internal mic doesn't? Comes with a nice touch screen and limited push buttons. Menu use is very easy and self explanatory. Fast hand movements do get a bit choppy if your recording in HD from the refresh rate. 8GB SDHC cards will give you approximately 61 minutes of record time on the highest settings. Charge time is very fast and on a full charge you will get about 75 minutes of straight recording time. You can also get some great Transcend SDHC cards for very cheap as well there is a very nice package deal for extra batteries and clothes. Like in the other reviews the only difference between this camcorder and the others in the HMX product line is the size of internal memory. So it's up to you if its worth getting a higher series that only carries more internal memory. That is about all I can think of discussing this camcorder. This is a great consumer camcorder and totally worth the 500+ you will be dishing out.

For the price of those nasty, digital-zoom, throw-away Flip cameras you can instead get this excellent camcorder with a surprising number of features and smooth 10x optical zoom. My observations exclude most of what other reviewers have already mentioned.

You can set most optical settings manually, like exposure, aperture, shutter, and focus. Processing-wise you can adjust white balance, resolution, and quality manually. If you just want to point-and-shoot you can press the "Easy Q" button and the camera will set these up for you. It even decides whether to turn on the anti-shake feature if you want it to. The anti-shake feature is the best I have ever seen and you're going to need it because this camera is so light there isn't enough weight ballast to steady your hand.

The camera does not move smoothly between lighting levels. I'm not sure if this is the aperture or the light sensitivity setting of the camera's sensor. You'll see the light level click up and down on scenes that subtly change brightness. If you're worried you can always set the aperture, exposure, and shutter speed manually and "fix it in post" as they say.

A word about the video format. The video files are standard MOV/MP4 files in H.264 with AAC audio. The 1080i videos play on anything fast enough to decode them, but remember, if your computer isn't fast enough to decode them, it's not going to work well. This camera uses many optional but highly CPU-intensive features of the MPEG-4 AVC H.264 specification like CABAC, VBSMC, QPEL, and more. Your computer has to be really fast and have enough memory to handle these features and your software must be able to decode these features, too. For example, The KMPlayer on MS Windows has trouble with videos produced by this camera because it doesn't implement some of these features correctly. However, Windows Media Player plays them perfectly. Similar problems happen on MacOS simply because these optional H.264 features aren't tested well there. You can try using a lower resolution or setting the "quality" of the recording to a lower setting where some of these features are omitted or used with less CPU-intensive parameters.

For storage, this camera only uses SDHC cards for storage so you're going to need a fast card. The camera comes with a "Class 6" card, therefore that should probably be a safe choice for any use. I have not yet run into problems with an HP-branded "Class 4" card I once bought by mistake with a huge discount. I expect that I will run into a problem in high-detail, high-action videos with a fast shutter speed, or in some situations that the "Easy Q" feature selects data-heavy modes for me. The user manual says that the camera will warn you if your card is too slow (the Class) and suggest to use a lower resolution. The camera is also, somehow, able to detect singleand multi-cell cards which I interpret to mean that some cards have one memory chip and others have two. I don't know how you discover this when shopping for cards. The manual says that if it finds a multi-cell card it says it restricts the speed but doesn't really say what happens. Likewise, if it finds a slow card (the "class") it will warn you to reduce the resolution, but the manual does not say what "Class" you're supposed to buy.

There are quite a few of these cameras in the refurbished market. My camera has no flaws and these are probably store returns from people whose home computers cannot play back the 1920x1080i videos that this camera, like other high-feature MPEG-4 AVC H.264 cameras, can create.

**EDIT** After a few months and several hours of recording this camera is still excellent. I still record everything at 1920x1080i and to edit that effectively it really means that I need a new computer. This isn't a knock on the camera, of course, but it's the only major complaint that I have.

The one minor complaint is that you have to essentially "restart" the camera to exchange SDHC cards--opening the door to change cards turns the camera completely off, so you probably want to get an SDHC card reader and use that instead of the camera to manage your SDHC cards.

Also, the SDHC cards must be formatted *by the camera* before they can be used. It only takes a few seconds but it does erase the card. It places two 20 megabyte files named "VIDEO0.IDX" and "VIDEO1.IDX" in the MISC directory which I believe is used for the quick access to review videos on the card from the camera's screen.

Finally, I did encounter a SDHC card that is multi-level cell. It is a Class 6, 8-gigabyte Patriot SDHC card. The camera warns me to switch to a lower resolution when using this card. Note that this is a Class 6 card, and the reason it's not fast enough is because it is a multi-level cell card. I have cheap Class 4 cards that work perfectly so this could be a potential problem when shopping for cards. I don't know how to identify multi-level cell cards at the point of sale but I do have one such card that won't work with this camera.

First, I want to put a few things clear before making this review.

In consumer digital camera world we have to understand the two different technologies used in picking the video image. They are CCD and CMOS. They stand for Charge Coupled Device and Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor respectively. How they work is not relevant but the pros and cons of each one is.

CCDs are being used in digital cameras for a long time. They are very sensitive to light but they are difficult to manufacture and therefore expensive. In the other hand we have CMOS, they are cheap to manufacture but they are less sensitive to light and have higher noise figures than CCDs.

Now that we have a clear understanding of CCDs vs CMOS, I can talk about the Samsung HMX-H100.

I like to call it "in a class by itself" because in the $449 price range there is no other camera with such features, quality in construction and performance. It have a very good 10x optical zoom with optical image stabilization , nice color rendering, Good picture definition, and acceptable battery life. Of course you could have slight improvement in low light performance in a CMOS Canon or Sony but you have to spend another $300 to $400 to get it. Or if you want the top in low light picture quality, be ready to say good bye to over $2000 out of your wallet for a 3CCDs Canon, Sony or JVC Pro Grade camcorder

Battery life is good for some 55 to 65 minutes of full HD 1080i recording. So an extra battery is a must.

With memory prices going down by the week, it is not a problem to get a good deal on a couple of 16gb SDHC Class 4 cards. One 16gb SDHC is good for over two hours of recording in full 1080i super fine HD.

Another interesting thing about it, is that it carries a copy Samsung Intelli-Studio editing software inside it. Just connect the camcorder via USB to any Windows PC and it ask for software installation. No more software CDs getting lost in your desk, camera bag or laptop case. Its already inside the camcorder!

In conclusion. There are lot of good to excellent consumer camcorders out there. But in the $449 price range IMHO there is only one... the Samsung HMX-H100

I picked this camera up at Fry's, but a model with built-in SSD, to shoot my sister's wedding last minute.

My favorite things, after trying a fistful of HD camcorders:

Fantastic image. Quality of video rivals Canon.

Hands down the BEST anti-shake feature I've seen in this price range. Canon isn't even remotely close.

Easy to use

The bad:

Small internal battery, one size only. OK lifespan, but I prefer something external like Canon's, you can buy a bigger size and clip it on still.

It doesn't handle low light. Very few of these do well in indoors or low light, though. My sister's wedding was at sunset, once the sun was down, the video was bad. The best low-light performance I've seen was in a Sanyo, but the video quality was terrible in comparison.

While the screen menu is easy to use (touchscreen a nice bonus), some features, like activating a backlit mode, you don't want to have to dig through a menu to get to.

Focus speed was slower than I like, but perhaps that was due to the low light.

Samsung advertised that this could do 1080 60i or 30p, that is a flat out lie. There is no 30p feature on this machine, at least not at 1080.

If you need something easy, handy, that produces great images, and you don't need all the features a Canon can offer, this is it!

I have been using the Samsung HMX H100 for about a month now, and it performs quite well. Very easy to use with touch screen menus and controls that are very intuitive. It has a number of manual controls, but using it as a point and shoot camcorder yields excellent results. Optical stabilization works well, 10X zoom is clear, as is the macro mode. One big surprise to me was how detailed the time lapse video can be-really amazing! Auto focus is a bit slow at times, but so far has not been an issue when recording video even in a sailplane flying at 80 knots, where the focus can change often.

I am very pleased at the quality of the video this small camcorder can produce. I have been using Cyberlink PowerDirector Ultra video editing program to load, edit, and record to DVD using an old DVD burner I have had in my computer for about 5 years. It also allows auto uploads to You Tube. With the Cyberlink software there is no need to convert the native files the H100 produces. I have tried most if not all of the popular editing programs, and only Corel Video Studio Pro X2 required a conversion to load. Intelli-Studio, a "lite" type editing program, that comes with the H100, easily converted the H.264 files to a usable format.

If you are not a videophile needing a top of the line HD Camcorder for professional use, the Samsung HMX H100 will probably suit your needs. I am very pleased with the quality of the videos this small camcorder can produce.
