The two big pluses are being able to use built-in batteries for long periods of use, without the inconvenience of phantom power, and the inherent viability of single-point stereo miking, which, as has been demonstrated for decades now, can result in a very pleasing stereo image.
The only "negative", which one would expect in this price range, is that, no, it's not fully up to the kind of quality you can get from large diaphragm, tubed, condensor microphones (such as the Neumann and its brethren). One would expect that. But this is a great 'starter' mic, a big step up from the super-cheapies, and a convenient mic for location recording, so long as you're not expecting 100% professional quality.
Very highly recommended, and I've had no problems or issues using this microphone at all.

Good sound, nice features. I use it with a Tascam field recorder, unfortunatly the mic's gain is a little low so I have to push the gain up and end up with some noise. I have not seen this on my VS 2480 mixer so I assume the mic is pretty clean and the problem with the Tascam's preamp. I am on my second mic, the first one suddenly developed a nasty buzz on one side. Overall a good mic for the money.Read Best Reviews of TASCAM TMSTPRO Condenser Microphone - Cardioid Here
I first used this mic for a men's barbershop quartet, then used it for a horn playing band, then to mic a small choir. It does amazing things that other condensor mics can't because it is stereo. I even pushed monitors pretty hard with no feedback so it is very stable in the live mix. I haven't used it to record but I'm certain it would be great. It can run on phnatom power or if that isn't available it can be powered by a battery so that is a plus. Next I will use it for a vocal group playing banjo/guitars or maybe to capture a drum kit. If you are a sound man and want a special mic this one can do a lot of things and the price I paid made it sweeter.
