Targus BUS0057 Wired Laser Pack Notebook Bundle

Targus BUS0057 Wired Laser Pack Notebook BundleThe product description is somewhat confusing, but this Targus Wired Laser Pack Notebook Bundle is a handy kit for notebook PC users that includes the following items:

USB numeric keypad with two USB 1.1 ports

Mini laser mouse with retractable cable

USB compact hub with four USB 2.0 ports

Two AC line filters to provide basic surge protection

This particular USB numeric keypad has comfortable low-profile keys that are perfect for those who frequently need to work with spreadsheets or financial applications, the "number cruncher" among us. Plus it doubles up as a handy 2-port USB hub. Note: as one reader pointed out, the USB ports on the keypad are of the 1.1 variety, and good for devices like a USB mouse, etc.

The optical laser mouse has a nice feel, and stows away easily due to it's handy retractable USB cable. The mouse movements feel quite precise.

The compact USB hub has four 2.0 ports. This may seem a bit of overkill considering that the numeric keypad has two ports, but for those of us with digital cameras and USB memory devices, it's exceptionally handy.

Probably the most overlooked devices are the two mobile surge protectors that are included with this kit. One is designed for 2-wire power cords, and the other is made for 3-wire (grounded) power cords. These are small and lightweight, and eliminate the need for carrying full-size surge suppressors with your notebook computer.

No matter how you look at it, this bundle provides all of the right accessories for many of us with notebook and laptop computers.

This product works quite well. At our AARP Taxaide site, we formerly used wireless keypads for use with our laptops, but that used one of the USB ports, which are at a premium. This product eliminates that problem, since it serves as a USB hub with its built-in ports, plus even includes plug-in surge suppressors and a very good laser mouse. And all of this for a very reasonable price.

Aiptek A-HD+ 1080p HD High Definition Camcorder - 5MP Still Camera - Media Recorder / Player - Black

Aiptek A-HD+ 1080p HD High Definition Camcorder - 5MP Still Camera - Media Recorder / Player - BlackThis is my second camera. I had the first one for years when it finally gave out. I went looking for the same model and found it. I love this little piece of work.

This camcorder makes some pretty good video (up to full HD 1080p) if you tweak the settings on it like white balance and lighting exposure. The weak point this camcorder has is the microphone that is built in to it. It sounds distorted even with quiet sounds. Unfortunately you can't plug a external mic into it.

But, it works fine for what I bought it for and is a good camcorder on a budget price.

Buy Aiptek A-HD+ 1080p HD High Definition Camcorder - 5MP Still Camera - Media Recorder / Player - Black Now

I bought this with the sole intention of using it to rip videos and other media off various forms of entertainment into MOVs for future editing. It works GREAT at this. As far as a camera and its functions, for the price a really well rounded option. The sound and picture are sub-par without a modest lighting accompaniment. Still great option for the price and worth the investment for any At-Home recording lovers.

Philips SpeechMike Air

Philips SpeechMike AirThis microphone is a joke. I bought this expecting it to work with the built-in Bluetooth on my laptop for use with Dragon. It does NOT work with the built-in Bluetooth, but requires a stupid dongle hanging off your USB port! That means every time I move my laptop, I risk breaking the dongle or have to disconnect it.

Worse, the dongle is tied to only 1 instance of the software, so you can't even share this microphone with more than 1 computer!

Returned this immediately upon finding this out. Shame on you, Philips. You need to make a true Bluetooth dictation microphone that will work with any Bluetooth computer, not this joke.

There are two other reviews of the Phillips SpeechMike Air at the time of the writing of this review. I just bought this microphone, used, at a significant discount, and it works terrifically. I find that the recognition accuracy is better than my old wired USB Philips SpeechMike Pro, which I have used for probably five or six years. In fact, the recognition accuracy is simply terrific.

The freedom to be able to walk around my office with a wireless microphone, and dictate as I move around is wonderful. I had an extension cord on my old wired USB mic (and perhaps that was some of the reason for decreased recognition accuracy), but an extension cord is just not as good a solution as wireless.

Right out-of-the-box, it has worked perfectly. Setup was incredibly easy although I will mention that I am a long-time user of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and I am very familiar with the program.

One of the other reviewers criticized the use of a dongle instead of a straight USB connection, and certainly, if you plan to use the wireless microphone on a laptop, the dongle will certainly be less advantageous. But, for the tremendous recognition accuracy that this microphone provides, I certainly would be willing to try it on my laptop. My thought is that the improved recognition accuracy would be worth the inconvenience of the dongle. I dictate usually only on my desktop machine at work.

All in all this is a terrific microphone, probably the best I have used in 20 years with DragonDictate and then Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

I will try to check back six months from now and report on how well it continues to work at that point in time.

Buy Philips SpeechMike Air Now

I used the SpeechMike Air at my desktop for six months and was happy with its performance with Dragon Naturally Speaking software though it's not as good as a wired microphone. At 6 months, some of it's functions died and I tried to get support. Philip's website has support options but none of them led me to a person. Their internet support was a waste of my time. I next tried the vendor I bought it from and was told that the product has a 90 day warrenty...not much given the cost of the product. I don't think Philips thinks much of it either! All the usual fixes-uninstalling, reinstalling, changing batteries, plugging the base into a different port, did not solve this. While I like the cord-free idea a lot (I am always tripping over microphone cords)I would not buy another product from Philips unless their services are radically improved.

Taiyo Yuden 4.7 GB 16x Thermal printable silver DVD-R (value line), 100 pack

Taiyo Yuden 4.7 GB 16x Thermal printable silver DVD-R, 100 packExcellent media have burnt 45 of 100, so far no coasters. Stated 4x but burns up to 8x no problems.

God bless Internet forums. I heard about this brand of recordable DVDs from one, and after using them for over a month have yet to make a single coaster with my Panasonic dmr-es15 recorder.

Sure the packaging is dodgy-looking, but hey jewel cases, CD/DVD albums, sleeves and other media storage can be had very cheaply in bulk online. The key is reliability and compatibility with a wide range of different DVD players aside from one's recorder...on both counts, these Taiyo Yudens have been spectacular.

Buy Taiyo Yuden 4.7 GB 16x Thermal printable silver DVD-R (value line), 100 pack Now

I'm so happy to have finally finding the Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 4x DVDs. They are the only brand my manufacturer (Toshiba) recommends for my DVD recorder. Previously I'd purchased another brand, hoping that they'd work anyway even thought they weren't specifically recommended. Unfortunately, although we could use them with the recorder ourselves, we weren't able to finalized the DVDs, so we couldn't transfer anything to our computer or send them to anybody else to view.

The packaging doesn't bother me at all. Jewel cases take up to much room in my option and I've got lots of paper cd/dvd envelopes that work just great. I've used quite a few of the DVDs in both my recorder as well as my iMac and haven't found a coaster yet!

I bought these DVD's mostly to burn in my Toshiba DVD video recorder. So far I have had no problems burning from my TV receiver to these blank DVD's. I get 8 hours of programming on the super long play and have not had any bad discs so far. I almost did not buy them because so many people had problems with them. All I can say is that so far I have not had any problems. I am very happy with this purchase and the price was very reasonable.

512MB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory Card (Bulk)

512MB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory CardWorks perfectly. Seems to be the max. capacity for this camera. More than fast enough. Good price!

This memory card size is great for the use with Fanuc controls. This memory size is large enough to hold plenty of data. This memory size is small enough that the control allows the use of this memory card. I have been told that if you use to large of a memory card on Fanuc controls the card will not work. This card used with the adapter SanDisk SDAD-38-A10 CF to PC Card Adapter will work well on a Fanuc cnc machine tool controls.

Buy 512MB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory Card (Bulk) Now

I got this for use with my old digital camera on a tripod for taking pictures of my years of journals -hundreds of pictures. I found it took a good two or three seconds longer to write each image to the card than my older card does.

Read Best Reviews of 512MB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory Card (Bulk) Here

This 512 memory card is very hard to find in local stores, now that all new cameras and video products require much larger MB capacity, like gigabyte + actually. While I am still using my digital Nikon camera that only has 5 megapixel capacity, the camera will not accept memory cards with more than the 512MB. I found out when I put a 4 gigabyte card in the slot...got a no memory alert. You simply cannot use large memory in many of the former cameras. I was very glad to dilscover that Amazon had the smaller cards available online. I plan to get a few more, just until I purchase a newer camera, with say, 14 + megapixel.

Want 512MB Sandisk Compact Flash Memory Card (Bulk) Discount?

I bought this for my SLR Digital camera. I have had one 512 MB Flash Memory Card since 2005. I figured it was time to get a new one. When I saw it was offered on Amazon, I was glad it was the same one I have. I tried it out and it is perfect and no problems with anything. My camera has excellent resolution and a backup Flash Memory Card was just what I needed. Now I do not have to run out and buy a new camera because I can capture more images on the new disk. I can lock it as well since it has a slide lock on the side. Follow the directions when inserting as some cameras need to have it placed in the camera white side facing rear. Until my next camera upgrade, this will do the trick for my needs.

bulls-i ETK-B3500 2 Channel HD Vehicle Drive Recorder w/Full Touch LCD - Car Black Box

bulls-i ETK-B3500 2 Channel HD Vehicle Drive Recorder w/Full Touch LCD - Car Black Box
  • 2 Channel Series (Front Camera and Rear Camera) can be recorded at once!
  • Excellent quallity video up to 720P HD Resolution!
  • Live preview and playback via 2.4" Full Touch LCD!
  • GPS, speed tracking, route location recording, voice guidance and more!
  • Easy to set its configuration!

I will proudly be the first to review this product! First off, I must say, I heard about this product while I was in South Korea. I noticed that everyone had a bulls-i or some kind of camera in their car, and I had never seen them before. I therefore bought one, because I figured video evidence for my own liability while driving was not a bad idea...

Why I chose this one of all the others?

As of early October is was a brand new release!I am that kind of shopper.

I wanted HD quality with at least a front and back camera.

I wanted to use it as a back up camera for my SUV, when pulling of out the driveway. (The LCD display lets you do that)

The MAIN reason I chose this bullsi was simply because of how much more production power they have compared to all the other manufacturers of these "Car Black Box Cameras". Like I said, when I was in Korea, car cameras were very popular and there was a lot of different options. However, bulls-i was by far the most common one, and there is no doubt for the reason why. These car cameras are manufactured by a Korean Software Company called Ether Technology. Which is actually a huge software company over there that makes software for mobile cell phones. Thus, it was apparent to me that these guys were not only able to but were producing a very quality product. They seem to be moving slightly from cell phones and focusing on these car cameras that they are having a lot of success with. Overseas they harp on how low their unit failure rate is because it is all run by the Micro SD card, which leaves a really slim chance for a camera (that records 24/7)to fully fail. Plus, in the future they are promising a Wifi unit to be streamed live to a cell phone. Very impressive stuff.

After I bought it what do i think?

This unit is a little larger than i would like.

I do actually use the LCD display for backing up.

It works, VERY maintenance free. Don't even have to touch it. Even records when the car is off.

Good looking HD quality video. You can check it out on the bulls-i.com home page. They have a video of it there.

The software it comes with is pretty cool. I can play back both front and the back videos are the same time, look at the speed, google maps locations and zoom in for license plate numbers.

Overall, I am very satisfied. Eventually these things are going to be huge in the United States when people realize the capability and reason for these things. I have a younger daughter and she is an AWFUL driver! And now you know exactly what she is getting for christmas!

YesI am banking on these cameras saving me money in the future.

Esky C5900 White H.264 Wireless DDNS WiFI IR-cut IP Camera Pan/Tilt 2-ways Audio LED night vision C

Esky C5900 White H.264 Wireless DDNS WiFI IR-cut IP Camera Pan/Tilt 2-ways Audio LED night vision CCTV security monitor built-in microphone and speaker Mobile Viewing Support Micro SD Card Slot Store VideoI am a novice to security cameras but decided to give this a try because it had all the features I wanted. The directions for wired setup were good and the camera gives a very clear picture, decent audio and the panning/tilt works good. However, I need to be able to view this remotely and wirelessly. The ability is there, but it has taken me several tries to almost have it working. I have some networking experience but this is a little above me. The net book I wanted to receive the signal does not have a powerful enough adapter to pick up the signal from the router so I had to use a notebook I wasn't planning on tying up. Possibly my lask of experience is the problem, but I would recommend having someone set this up that knew what they were doing.

The Esky C5900 camera has a lot of potential.

Pro: You can remotely view the camera with your smart phone (I am using a Samsung Galaxy S2) and you can rotate the camera with your phone. It will also send you emails when motion is detected. I also put in t 32G sd card and that works well. I have set the camera up in different locations (using wifi) and it works.

Con: I emailed into Esky for assistance and have never received a reply. One big problem is about once a day the camera needs to be rebooted i.e. un-plugged and plugged back in, and you can not do this remotely.

Buy Esky C5900 White H.264 Wireless DDNS WiFI IR-cut IP Camera Pan/Tilt 2-ways Audio LED night vision C Now

Update: Well it looks like despite, my 5 star review, they didn't send out whichever free gift they were promising. So I won't be able to share what exactly they were bribing reviews with. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these H.264 pieces of junk. Your maximum character limit for a password on one of these devices is 7 characters. If you enter more than that, you'll have to reset your camera to be able to access it again.

>Warning, I'd really rate this cam a 2 star but read comments below to find out why I put 5 stars.

Let's see... I guess it depends on how you want to use this. It works fine in IE and with it's included software. If you intend to view this on an Android phone, think again. Ipcam viewer Lite/Pro can't use the send audio feature on this cam, and receiving audio is only in the Pro(paid) version. Worse, if your app can't use the rtsp stream (H.264) than you will be using the HTTP stream which seems to get less that 1/fps. Google it, many people are having this problem (it doesn't matter if it's connected wireless or wired, on the local lan or over the web). TinyCam Monitor Pro can't receive audio or send audio and you will have to find a camera profile that uses a similar HTTP feed. Again, you will get less than 1/fps since these programs cannot access the rtsp stream.

Esky does have an android app that is not on the market, you have to download it from their link. I haven't tried it because they force you to register for an account with them and I don't believe there app will work with my other 3 cameras (non-Esky) that I have in the house. I do not want to use 2 different apps on my phone to access all of my cameras.

Blue Iris can access the rtsp stream and gets up to 30fps. I was able to use the PTZ functionality of the cam but the commands seemed to lag. The audio functions would not work.

Now here is the best part. In my box, there was a card for a "rewards" program. If I put up a five star review on Amazon or Ebay, they will send me a free gift "I'm sure to like". Bribes? I googled and could not find out what the "reward" is.

Also, I have updated the firmware to the latest one available. The cam seems to reset itself alot and when I have it hooked up wirelessly, the framerates from the the other cams on my network (both wireless and wired) seem to drop very low whenever I access this cam's http stream. My network is a 1000mbps network with 1 router, 1 x 1 gigabit switch.

Bottom line, most apps are not compatible with the new H.264 cams. If you want to be a beta tester and wait for this functionality to be implemented in other applications then get this cam. If you only need one cam in your home and you don't mind using IE to access your cams features, this cam will work for your needs as well.

Sony AC-E30A Worldwide AC Power Adaptor with Folding Plug Blade

Sony AC-E30A Worldwide AC Power Adaptor with Folding Plug BladeI am very happy with this adaptor...it turned my portable cd player/radio into an electric appliance saving on battery use. I purchased small speakers so i can use it when I do tai chi, dance or cook. It can also be used worldwide. The price and service are excellent. Thanks.

I use this AC Power Adaptor for my Sony tape recorder and it's a perfect fit. The price is right and I especially like the compact size that doesn't take up more than one space on the power strip. I was happy to find a Sony OEM at such a reasonable cost.

Have an old Sony Walkman and this adapter is a good match, works fine. The instructions on the package say not to use with a radio due to interference/static. WTF I said to myself, It was listed by Sony as the model for my radio. Well, I get no static except with AM stations. FM stations are clean. This was a good price and I'd buy it again but forget AM stations on the radio.

Eyecast Cloud Vault - Online Video Surveillance Backup (includes 1 year of service)

Eyecast Cloud Vault - Online Video Surveillance BackupMy company just installed these Eyecast Cloud Vaults in our office. They work amazingly well. I can view the office in real time from my computer and iPhone 24 hours per day with excellent resolution and refresh rate, and all of the playback, archiving, and exporting is done online and can be performed remotely. We replaced our hard drive based DVR storage system with these devices (the existing cameras plug right in) and the upgrade was tremendous. Further, if anything happened to the actual old DVRs (theft, fire, flood, power surge, etc.), all of the stored data / recordings would be lost. This system, since it is cloud based, prevents the loss of any data due to DVR damage / loss. Also you can expand the storage service online with Eyecast, so it is very flexible. The owners and representatives of Eyecast are also very personable and will address any questions immediately. Very satisfied with this product and service. Highly recommend the company and product.

A-514 Ac Adapter

A-514 Ac Adapter
  • Charge devices with USB charge function via USB cable without computer
  • Includes 4 connectors: Europe, UK, Japan & US, Australia

INTRO: We bought the Olympus A514 unit to power and/or charge the superb Olympus DM-520 voice recorder that I bought for my mate. After some initial difficulty inserting the correct wall jack adapter (they include the most common 4 types), the unit has performed as expected and posed no problem after 2 months of daily use.

DESCRIPTION: The charger is the fairly common USB power brick design providing 5 volts to USB powered and/or charged devices connected by a USB cable that *YOU* provide and insert into the power block's full sized USB female jack. The all black, all plastic block is much smaller than older style dedicated power units but much larger than the tiny iPod charger block.

PACKAGING: The packaging consists of a compact glossy cardboard box containing 5 items: The main power block (without any wall plug) and 4 wall jack adapter plugs one of which you slide into the side of the power block. The mating of the adapters is where the unit loses credits. No USB cable is provided in this package.

OLYMPUS-SPECIFIC FEATURES: When used with an Olympus device like the superb DM-520 voice recorder, this power unit allows you to power the recorder and charge the batteries at the same time or power the recorder only to avoid unneeded recharging. See your Olympus recorder manual for a section on selecting the mode. On theDM-520, you press and hold the STOP button when inserting the USB cable to place it into power with charge mode. Not doing so defaults to power only. Remember, all rechargeable batteries have a finite number of recharges so it behooves you to NOT charge your batteries constantly.

WORK FLOW: We use the unit to power and charge our DM-520 voice recorder as follows. My mate plugs the unit in without holding STOP so it defaults to power only mode. Once every 1-2 weeks, I will re-mate it with the STOP button pressed to initiate the power + charge mode. That should maintain the life of the batteries for a few years and ensure there is always a charge when it is needed to operate the unit naked in the field without a charger.

PROBLEMS: Each wall jack adapter plug slides into a shoe on one side of the power block very similar to how a camera's flash unit male mounting "tongue" slides into the female "hot shoe" on the top of the camera. The problem is that the edges of the included adapters as well as the retaining edge rails on the block's recessed "shoe" area are plastic, simply molded without "rounds" or "fillets", and provides minimal clearance without any features to ease sliding and mating. So, you have to squint a little, line up an adapter, push it in fairly hard and hope there is minimal "flashing" or other plastic defects on the plastic forms so that it will mate completely.

BOTTOM LINE: If you only need to mate the unit to a single wall jack style and carefully insert the adapter correctly, you should be fine and have no aftertaste. We have forgotten the problems and view the unit simply as a power adapter that works. On the other hand, if you need to use different adapters for foreign travel, I'd re-mate all adapters several times to wear any plastic edges or flashing and ensure they work as required.

OUR RATING: We would have given the unit 4.5 stars were it not for the cheaply designed adapter plug plates. However, since they do work after a little playing around, we reduced the rating only by 1 star to 3.5. Since we cannot enter a ½ and it is clearly not 4 stars, we entered 3 stars.

If your looking for a DVD player that can play AVI's this will work fine. I had no problems playing AVI's through a USB Drive but couldnt get anything to work with an SD Card. I also couldnt get MP4's to work. I didnt really try much else. I bought it for an upcoming roadtrip to Canada with my 4mo old and 2yr old so I really needed something to keep my 2yr olds attention. The strap for the back of the seat wouldve worked fine but was made of cheap material no big deal though. The kicker was if you barely touch the screen you could see distortion, and the whole thing felt like cheap plastic. Not something that could withstand a toddler. Also, the instructions were HORRIBLY translated and made it sound like a death machine which im sure it isnt. The picture looked great, the sound was great and there was no problem playing dvds (even ones i had burned) or AVI's though USB.

This Pyle Portable DVD player, has good volume and will play both NTSC and PAL format DVDS from any numbered region. That is enough reason for me to enjoy it. However the picture, despite adjuments, is not as sharp as I would like. No I'm not saying it's bad. It would be great if it were a bit sharper. I bought this player mostly to watch music concerts from around the world. Because of the sound, I'm happy with it. Because of the picture I must give it four stars instead of five.

I would give this item 5 stars if it weren't for the crappy battery life and the fact that I received it with a broken charger. If you are going for sound this is one is pretty good, but don't get it for battery life.

Sony ECM-CS10 Tie-Clip-Style Omnidirectional Business Microphone

Sony ECM-CS10 Tie-Clip-Style Omnidirectional Business Microphone
  • Lavalier styling -- includes a clip to attach to clothing; permits convenient, hands-free recording
  • Small, inconspicuous -- makes the recording process more natural and less obtrusive
  • Integrated clip for maximum simplicity & ease of use
  • Omni-directional pattern -- picks up voices from all directions; ideal for meetings and lectures
  • 2-way power supply -- plug-in power with select Sony portable recorders -- battery power for use with all other recorders (not supplied)

I've been using Sony's ECM-MS907 for more than 5 years now and have loved it; so two weeks ago I ordered the Sony ECM-CS10 to use for audio journal keeping while on the road. When it arrived just a few days ago, I compared the audio quality of its recordings to that of my existing Sony microphone. In spite of its pleasing aesthetics, I found it to be a sad disappointment!!! The ECM-CS10 is a very noisy microphone with an audio quality far inferior of what I would expect from a Sony mic. (I wonder whether this is because it is a plug-in-power mic).

Frankly, I think I'm probably going to return it and look for something else. I've purchased a number of microphones on eBay and have only been satisfied with one other type of compact mic. Microsound makes it; and its a mic with a cable lead about three inches long. I'm not in any way affiliated with them, but I would recommend their product.

With all of this said, I think I still might spring for Sony's top-of-the-line lapel microphone, just to see whether it's any good.

I have used the ECM-CS10 stereo microphone with my laptop for recording speech for audio embedded web pages. This is a very clear low noise stereo mic. It has a good high frequency response. It is not as loud/sensitive as the omni mics I have tried. But this unit records voice very well and with low noise. It is certainly not as boomy as many of the consumer grade omnidirectional single channel mics I have tried. In the laptop recording mode I use the mic with Sonic Stage audio recording software. It produces nice clean recordings. For top-notch speech sound and to increase the signal/noise ratio I even clip on BOTH the ECM-CS10 stereo mic and an omni microphone. I run them both into a 2:1 adaptor plug which then plugs into the laptop. There is no battery box needed with the laptop audio set up. The laptop supplies its own bias voltage/phantom power to the mic. I have also used this mic with button style battery boxes to feed audio into a Canon GL2 camcorder. It gives good results. Every camcorder needs an external mic or two mics for studio set-ups. These 1/8th inch prosumer mics do the job well without breaking your budget. XLR mic set-ups and wireless microphone systems can cost many hundreds of dollars. I was glad to find ways to use these moderately priced business mics in a smart way in order to get very good audio for web pages and videoed interviews. It is not just the quality of equipment or the cost. it is how you use it. Getting your mic as close to the source is the key to getting good video. Lavaliers like this get the job done well and they do it simply and economically.

While the specs above say:

2-Way power supply offers plug-in power with selected Sony or Aiwa portable recorders; battery power for use with all other recorders

This is NOT TRUE. There is no battery unit shipped with this device; you can see it in the instructions, but it isn't in the package. So, unless you are using it with a "selected Sony or Aiwa" device, DON'T BUY THIS. It won't work.

BTW, I am a slow learner. When I bought the first one of these, I thought it was defective because it didn't have the battery pack. I returned it and got another one, which was absolutely unopened -guess what! THERE IS NO BATTERY PACK IN THE BLISTERPACK.

The Sony ECM-CS10 is reasonably priced for a stereo mic. I have used it for recording auido lectures and it works well to pick up all comments in a small classroom. If clipped to a lapel, it is crystal clear. I also have used it for recording my band with little distortion and fairly equal levels for drum kit, vocals, and guitar amps...solid mic with little frill for these purposes.

It clearly catches vocals and sound with stereo input to the recorder. It is a powerful microphone which also picks up ambient sound. The tie clip is adjustable to a specific direction desired by the user and may be made to stand on a table with the retractable support.

Panasonic PlayPak PV-P1 VHS/VHS-C Adaptor

Panasonic PlayPak PV-P1 VHS/VHS-C AdaptorProduct did not work for me but I gave 5 stars so as not to penalize the overall product status since it appears to work for those who actually bought it for the correct cartridge type. I was looking for a product which would allow me to view my 8mm video catridges, without the camcorder, and a search directed me to this product. For whatever reason , it wasn't clear that there is no product for the 8mm video cartridges except a camcorder. While Amazon was terrific about the return procedure, I discovered I am not the only one who has made this mistake. It may save buyers time, and sellers money, if the seller made it clear what cartridges can not be played in this handy gadget. I learned what the "C" stood for only after the product did not work. In looking at the product advertisement again, it is not clear that the "C" indicates a specific type of cartridge. It is easily interpreted as part of the name of the product. I am satisfied with policies for return and how that was all carried out. Thank you.

This adapter is much better than the ones which don't take a battery. The difference is the other type manually pulls out the tape with a set of rollers when it's closed, and that can screw the tape up. The battery model I believe is also better at rewinding, the manual ones always drag down my VCR when I've tried it in the adapter.

For the reviewer below, they don't make 8mm adapters. Vhs-C is nothing more than a small-scale VHS tape, which is why they can make these adapters. The best way to get 8mm tapes copied on VHS tapes is to use the camcorder as a tape deck and connect it to a VCR's input, and record it from there.

Very good quality, been around for a long time and never lost its nich. Recommmend for small vhc tapes and the price was low if not the best. Other websites will sell this for more money, but this is the most effective and inexpensive item. Highly recommend if hesitant.

I have a VHS and CD machine and all my old tapes from my old camera are VHS, so I really need this adapter. Best Buy had a cheap copy that I bought and it didn't work at all...Bernies didn't have it or know where to purchase one. I then thought of Amazon and was delighted to find just what I wanted shippped directly to my house and it worked just the way the old one did....just remember to take the battery out if you don't plan on using it for a while....that's what happened to me and the battery caroded in the battery compartment.....

If you need a playpack dont settle for anything other than this. The ONLY reason i've had to replace mine is because my cat knocked it off a high shelf. Before that I had dropped it plenty of times. It workes flawlessly and is, of all things, durable.

Very worth the money.

CiragoTV Platinum Network HD Multimedia Center with 1 TB HD CMC3000 - Black

CiragoTV Platinum Network HD Multimedia Center with 1 TB HD CMC3000 - BlackThis Item it came in handy, because I need it to be able to record from the Direct Tv DVR, that has a USB but but not activate in order to copy the videos recorded. It is easy to use. The only thing is that I wished it could work like the directv dvr, when recording you do not need to put the channel on, because the dvr does it, but with the Cirago I need to leave the channel on the DVR in able to record the movie, but I like the CiragoTV Platinum Network HD Multimedia Center with 1 TB HD CMC3000. I recomended as an alternative in order to back up all the video on the directv DVR.

You won't find a better network media player. Plays all file formats and no digital artifacts. NAS storage and access is handy from the network, but copying over the network to it can be very slow at 5 Mb/s. This is very similar network write speed as the WD TV Live Media Hub. However, can load up movies via local USB access to hard disk, or just use it as a network media player off a NAS unit, which is how I use it, and you won't be sorry!!

Buy CiragoTV Platinum Network HD Multimedia Center with 1 TB HD CMC3000 - Black Now

I bought the CMC3000 about 1 year ago and I shutter to think what I would do without it. It connected all my networked devices with no probs (except using WiFi, I use Ethernet). You are best served to buy Cirago's USB N wireless for $20.00 as the supported adapters are limited and nearly unknown. Supposedly Realtek 8187 chipset will work I couldn't find anything on the web to support this. The copy speed isn't bad at all. IT is a little slow but no slower than my other networked devices. Copies to and from a PC via Ethernet just as fast as PC to PC and USB speed is great provided you have USB 2.0 and an SATA drive in the external HDD. Performance is faster if you use a router instead of a switch.I had a little recording trouble with it after about 10 months but I performed the built in format and the problem went away. It play almost any format you throw at it. Only Google's VP8 wouldn't play so far. One of the other reviewers for Cirago is correct. Their support is poor at best but they were going to replace my unit. The issue is they expected me to print and fax the RMA rather than do it electronically. After a couple weeks of email ping pong they provided me with an electronic RMA.

(Not everyone has a printer and a FAX)

All in all, the device is great and does more than other media centers I have researched.

At present, I am saving up for a 2nd one for my living room so I would definitely recommend this little gem.

P.S. Get at least a 1TB drive. You will wish you had. Also, the 3000 does not support anything over a 2TB USB drive, 3TB will not work (Cirago's own support)

This device seems to be more reliable than the server I have holding its videos. Out of the box it was able to pull videos from the Windows server as easily as a computer would. Little configuration was required since I put "everyone" as having access in the NTFS privileges. I would recommend this to anyone considering purchasing a Media Center PC to consider this lightweight (and far cheaper) alternative

This is a very nice and quality product. I have almost used all different brand of Multimedia players and found this one the best. The only feature which is missing is playing online channel (Youtube, etc.) from the player. You can only play them by buy Playon service.

Supersonic SC-709 Portable MP3/CD Player with Cassette Recorder, AM/FM Radio & USB Input

Supersonic SC-709 Portable MP3/CD Player with Cassette Recorder, AM/FM Radio & USB Input
  • Built-in USB Input
  • Plays MP3/CD/CD-R/CD-RW
  • Records From CD and Radio
  • Remote Control Included

I purchased this MP3/CD boombox because no retailer in my city of about one million people seemed to have such a boombox available; including Best-Buy and Walmart; their employees did not even know what I was talking about when I requested this item. So I ordered it from an Amazon.com Marketplace seller and hoped it would not get broken in transit. Well the seller sent it over 2,000 miles UPS and it arrived in perfect condition. I don't know much about electronics, but I am very pleased with this boombox. It is attractive and appears well made and durable to me. The radio, cassette recorder/player, CD player (which also plays CDs in MP3 format--such as talking book--I have one CD in MP3 format which contains the entire Old Testament in narration) all play and sound great to me. The cassette player will record from either the radio or CD player. As you can see, I am pleased with this item. Perhaps you will be to, if you decide to take a chance and order it. Of course, you can always return it if you don't like it; but that is such an inconvenience.

Sound quality for the 'Supersonic SC-709 Portable MP3/CD w/ Cassette Recorder, AM/FM Radio & USB Input is really good. Nice appearance. Poor design for CD/MP3 hood----does not open wide enough causing mishandling of the CD/MP3. Buttons to operate Cassettes should be labeled with words----markings are barely visible. Nice radio. Too bad Remote does not operate cassettes, radio,& On/Off feature as well. Written Instructions for operation of machine not clear enough.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He wanted a small, portable radio that plays CD's, tapes and has a radio.

This CD player does all of that. It is cute and compact. The sound is a pretty good quality.

Price is very good for what you get.

Highly recommend!

This is my first time review since I ordered from Amazon.

I need USB player because I want to listen my class recorded lectures.

I do not like to use headphone long time.

When I listen to the sound, it likes to be the same Sound in my class!

I only worry about turn off switch because one of review writer said,

there is no turn off switch with low rating. This is wrong information.

This player has turn off switch button = tape band selection button!

Also, this unit has headphone jack, it really need to listen at library.

I bought brand name NAXA player in Frys but I returned it. There are no headphone jack.

everybody must be fair.

Do not expect very expensive player vs. this good price player.

I satisfied this player, sound is good too.

This is good value, compare price I paid only $45.

There is AUX jack for external player.

I have small sony recorder, I can hook up with this aux jack, I can hear without USB recording. It's very convenient.

There are not DC power Jack thus I can not use in the car.

But I can use rechargeable "C" battery.

I still give five star!^^

After searching for a portable product that would play MP3 CDs, and cassettes, and with a USB input port, I found a huge range of prices. I read available reviews online, and found nothing to discourage me from trying this, the lowest-priced unit I could find.

So perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised to open the box and see a shiny, plastic-y, very tacky looking unit. I read the instruction leaflet before unpacking the player, still thinking I might want to return it. It appears to do all the things it was advertised to do. I tried a MP3 CD that I had burned, and it worked fine. Tried a commercial CD, also great. The sound is a little lightweight and tinny, but it will be playing audiobooks 99% of the time, and not trying to sound like an orchestra.

My first complaint is that there is no Power On/Power Off button! Can you believe it? The instructions say I should unplug it from the wall socket!

After I used it to play one commercially-produced cassette, front and back, it stopped playing cassettes.

After I used it to play approximately 10 CDs (a combination of commercially-produced and MP3 CDs burned on my computer), it stopped playing CDs.

Mama always said "You get what you pay for," and she must be laughing at me now. I will try to return this unit and cough up the money for a Sony player, which (I know) is what I should've done in the first place.

I finally purchased a WINN Mini DV and it works much better. And, the instructions are in English.

Works great, and the built in usb connector is a big advantage over all the others that have to use a usb cable. And a dab of soap on the light keeps it nice and stealthy, but still lets you see which mode you are in(video/photo).

Marantz SR4023 Stereo Receiver

Marantz SR4023 Stereo Receiver
  • Large EI core transformer
  • Pre-out/Main-in terminals
  • Speaker A/B switching
  • MM Phono preamplifier
  • 80 Watts x 2

After owning higher end units before, I purchased this due to financial necessity and a desire to simplify my life. I did not want to go with a manufacturer known mostly for their home theater gear, so I went with Marantz due to their fine reputation on the more musical side of things. Plus, they were the only company that had the right combination of quality gear with the features I wanted at a price I could afford.

This nice receiver has all the features any audio buff could want and then some, including pre-out/main-in jacks and a subwoofer output. Sound quality is also excellent, although I remember being used to a little warmer sound. The 80 watts P/C is more than enough for most rooms, and this unit can handle 4 Ohm speakers with ease. It barely got warm during a listening session with my speakers.

The phono stage isn't the last word in performance, but gets the job done. It audibly buzzs a bit past -30 on the volume control while, but this was mostly unnoticeable while playing vinyl. Also, I heard no outside interference coming through unlike a so-called higher end unit I once owned. A metal screw, rather then the plastic one they used for the ground wire would have been preferred, especially at this price.

The remote is well thought out an easy to use, but it looks a bit similar from both ends. Also, I would have preferred an old fashioned rotating volume nob, with a little indicator light over the goofy -50 to +50 digital volume control, which is confusing and meaningless to most old school people like myself.

The tuner's performance is very good for the money, although I've never had anything much better to compare. An old feature this unit has allowing you to put a station that doesn't come in very well to mono for better sound quality is a welcome return for me. ALL receivers/tuners should have this (are you listening you modern A/V producers???).

Build quality is excellent, although past receivers had full metal face plates. I'm not fooled by Marantz' attempts to justify their cost cutting by hyping it up as "aluminum/resin enforced front panel", although their design is more cleaner and attractive than the older flat panels.

All in all, this may be the best stereo receiver available at the moment from a major manufacturer (the few that are available), and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to go that route that needs a decent phono stage and doesn't care about multi-channel. The Marantz SR-4023 doesn't do anything extra-ordinarily spectacular, but it doesn't do anything wrong either!

I owned a 2252B in late 70's early 80's. loved the sound but sold it when I got tired of neighbors, police, landlords, and having to move so many times! I just could not resist cranking it. Over the years I have bought at least ten receivers trying to find THE SOUND I LOVED SO MUCH. Clean, clear bass, mids and treble that were lifelike and not too bright or shrill. WOW DO I LOVE THIS RECEIVER! More than enough power. SOUNDS FANTASTIC! I wanted old school stereo, as if the band is in front of me. I have it hooked to two yamaha YST-SW315 subs and Polk LSi9's. If you want to be the envy of all who hear this setup don't waste a ton of money, This is all you need, Just add DVR and OPPO Blu-ray Player. I also had my Marantz 6300 turntable restored and added a Grado platinum cart. I'm set for life. Oh ya, don't forget room treatments.

Toshiba SD-3990 Progressive Scan DVD Player

Toshiba SD-3990 Progressive Scan DVD Player
  • Slim-profile, single-disc multiformat DVD player; measures 16.9 x 1.65 x 8.2 inches (WxHxD)
  • Compatibility with DVD movie, CD audio,CD-R/CD-RW, DVD-R/RW, and VCD discs; DivX, JPEG, MP3 and WMA files
  • 3:2 pulldown detection adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps progressive scan video
  • Outputs: 1 composite, 1 S-Video, 1 component
  • DVD offer Dolby Digital/DTS decoding; coaxial digital audio output

First of all, let me say that this unit is very well worth the money. As "just a DVD player" I give it FIVE over FIVE points (or ten/ten if you wish).

The unit comes as Region Free DVD Player. Professionally modified to play any region out of the box. This feature makes it most versatile player as this player can play any region 1,2,3,4,5,6 PAL or NTSC on regular American TV just out of the Box It just works.

Good things:

it can play NTSC and PAL DVD, VCD. and when it plays PAL VCD, it will fit the image so that the image is not out of proper aspect ratio. You can even easily choose the left or right audio channel which is typical of VCD. Further, this DVD player can play DivX, MPG, mp3, jpg. It can play DivX with subtitles. When fast forwarding, it can go up to 30x and 100x (seems like not 100x but maybe 50x). When you step frame by frame, it works flawlessly. It's a great player for the price, considering all the media it plays (ours played DVD+RW too) and the quality of sound and picture it produces.

As a straight DVD player, this player excels. It has an absolutely brilliant progressive picture, with rich colors, and no prog-scan artifacts whatsoever. There are also a couple of nice digital touch-up controls, sharpness and brightness which can come in handy to boost dark images.

As a DIVX/Xvid player, also excellent. Highly compatible with divx 4/5 and vxid, not at all with divx 3.11 or ms mp4 v2 according to my testing. plays ac3 audio on these files too. Interesting problem with divx subtitles. Very compatible, yet places them in the middle of the screen, which is weird, but oddly workable. The menu system for avi files is intuitive, but only captures the first 16 characters of the filename.

As a dvd-r player, it's also solid. It has played all media I've thrown at it (-r, -rw). The only problem is that it's picky about flaws. In fact, I have dozens of labeled dvd-r's which will break-up and not play past a certain point. unfortunate, but after I removed the labels (not an easy process) they played to the end.

Now for my favorite feature, the coup de grace: auto aspect-ratio. I have a 16:9 set. When I enable this feature (default), anamorphic titles will fill the screen, 4:3 titles will be in the middle (though zoomed in ever-so-slightly) and non-anamorphic letterbox titles will be zoomed in to fill the width of the 16:9. It makes this adjustment for dvd and divx content. And it gets it right 95% of the time the other 5% you can adjust manually.

This is a very nice small, cheap, functional Toshiba DVD player that has been modified to play PAL and NTSC dvds irrespective of their region encoding. It does all these things perfectly, and produces high quality output. A very useful product if you want to play Asian or European discs in the US.

This is a solid DVD player without all the bells and whistles. I purchased it specifically for its multi-region capabilities. There are websites a plenty that tell you the secrets to unlocking the codes on almost any DVD player, however you do this at your own peril as I rendered my previous player completely useless by trying a hack. This player has been modified by a third party to achieve multi region and comes with its own guaranty. Simply, it works. Pop any DVD in from any region and it accepts and plays it.

The Toshiba Sd-3990 appears to be a replacement for the Toshiba Sd-3980, with the same great feature set, small cosmetic changes, and a reduced MSRP. The picture and sound are both excellent, and the progressive scan via component jacks looks amazing on my 32" Sharp Aquos. It has been very reliable so far (and I've never had a problem with Toshiba products before), and it's played everything I've tried on it. It has all the proven features I wanted, without some of the questionable features found on some more expensive players. It blows away my previous player, which cost me more than this 4 years ago and had half the features at twice the physical size. Plays every Disc I have from Region 2, and 5 Plays PAL on NTSC TV like Charm.

Great Buy ++++++++

I will give 9.5 out of 10 ++

For three months this DVD player worked fine. It's made by Toshiba but modified by a 3rd party in this case, Northstar Electronics. They modify it so it will play all regions. In the first 90 days we used the player about a dozen times when it suddenly ceased to operate for no reason whatsoever. I tried to use it one afternoon and it just wouldn't work anymore. The player turns on, and the drawer can be opened and closed, but otherwise it will not play any disc from any region, nor will it play CDs. After some research I discovered that faulty modifications often result in this kind of problem with a player. I cannot recommend this product or Northstar Electronics. I suggest spending more and getting a player that has not been modified in-house, but instead was manufactured specifically to play multiple region DVDs.
