Honestech Audio Recorder 2.0 Plus

Honestech Audio Recorder 2.0 Plus
  • Easy Music Player to PC Connection
  • Noise Reduction
  • Built-in Compressor/Limiter
  • Digital Amplifier
  • Organize Your Music
  • Add ID3 tag for artist, song and album titles.
  • Automatically separates multiple tracks.
  • Control audio volume with the built-in normalizer.
  • Reduce unwanted noise or static.
  • Works with most audio playback devices including cassette, LPs and 8-track players.

My husband has 40 years of old cassettes that he will no longer be able to listen to after this cassette player dies. Fortunately, it is a vintage cassette player from the early eighties and was a good one for that time so it'll probably last a while but who knows. This software and cable was so easy to use even I can use it. There are not a lot of editing options but it works well and the cd's sound great. I wish I had seen the honestech software that burns vhs as the reviews said it can also convert audio as well. I should have gotten that software as he has lots of old vhs tapes laying around and still has a player that works for now but probably not forever and they are getting harder to come by.

Buy Honestech Audio Recorder 2.0 Plus Now

If you want to transfer old tapes from an old cassette recorder and perform clean-up operations, you will do better with a full-featured audio editor like Magix Audio Cleaner which allows input from multiple sources. I bought this in addition to owning the Magix software because it came with a free USB cassette player. The cassette player is junky. The lid (the cover that opens to insert a tape) is flimsy and looks like it is easily broken. The auto-reverse (one time) did not work. This would be very useful if it did because you could set the total recording time and let the tape play/record both sides. Tech support advised me to set it on the permanent auto reverse (the player will keep reversing the tape until you stop it. There is a tape direction toggle but no indication of which way it changes direction. The "Play" button did not always work--kept popping up without catching.

After a few transfers from a tape deck to PC, the USB player started introducing a low frequency flutter-like rumble. Tech Support, which used to be good from Honestech with their VHS to DVD converter, has plummeted. Technician offered only simple obvious troubleshooting suggestions like trying a different USB cable or USB port, which I had already tried. Support seemed bound and determined to insist the probem was something on my computer. My original tapes played clean and transferred without the rumble using the Audio feature in the Honestech VHS to DVD program and converter, even though it was more cumbersome.

I finally sent support samples of tapes digitized with the Audio Recorder, with the VHS/DVD Audio app, and with Magix Audio Cleaner. Only the ones made with the Audio Recorder 2.0 Plus had the rumble. The technician replied that he could not detect the rumble, even though two witnesses here could hear it. I finally used Magix Audio Cleaner to remove the higher frequencies from a recording, leaving just the rumble and sent that. The Technician had to admit he could hear the rumble on this sample, but said if I returned it, they would determine whether it was something added by the product (as if I am wasting my time creating a fictitous noise or it is an electronic ghost?).

Support consists of returning the player for "Evaluation." The warranty specifies that your protection only extends to having the player repaired or replaced (with a re-manufactured player). In rare cases, they might agree to refund your purchase but this is solely at their option. And they will charge a $10 re-stocking fee. The tech said another option was for me to purchase a new one. My mistake was in buying direct, not through Amazon with some buyer protection.

COBRA DIGITAL DVC960 1-Touch Video Camera

COBRA DIGITAL DVC960 1-Touch Video CameraGot 2 from staples. Very good for this price. It is easy to use, easy to replace battery and SD card and small size. AVI format is good for almost every PC without any other code-decode media player, you can watch directly. Anyway, it is good for a "dummy" user with such price.

At Walgreens online, I purchased what is a different 'brand' called "Living Solutions" that appears exactly the same as the Cobra Digital Camera.

I got it on sale at Walgreens for even less, but for an inexpensive video camera, it is a good deal (at $49).

Pro: LOW COST

SO SIMPLE A CHILD COULD USE IT

DECENT QUALITY IMAGES

TOOK A 4GB MEMORY CARD AND WORKS FOR 1 AND A HALF HOURS OR MORE IN AVI FORMAT

HAS A DECENT SIZE SCREEN AND SPEAKER FOR IMMEDIATE VIEWING

Con: VERY CHEAP PRODUCT DON'T EXPECT QUALITY/DURABILITY (but it's ok).

AA BATTERIES RUN OUT FAST AND THERE IS NO WAY TO POWER IT VIA CHARGING CORD.

ZERO FOCUS/ZOOM/QUALITY OR ANY OTHER OPTIONS. IT'S RECORD AND STOP RECORD. THAT'S IT.

HAS A DECENT SIZE SCREEN WHICH DOES DRAIN THE BATTERIES FAST WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO RECORD W/SCREEN OFF.

It may not be the exact same product under a different 'brand' but I can not see any difference and it works as a very very simple (basic to the extreme) camcorder that takes decent sound videos.

Very easy to use compact nice sound Ok video great to have on hand but can easily be turned on by accident needs a different power button just a suggestion thanks Daryl

12 ft Premium S/PDIF Digital Toslink Optical Audio Cable w/ Protective Jacket TT-80C-12

12 ft Premium S/PDIF Digital Toslink Optical Audio Cable w/ Protective Jacket TT-80C-12This product works great. This replaced RCA cables from my TV to my stereo. The RCA cables hummed a lot when you turned up the sound. With this cable there is no hum only clear sound. The cable feels and looks nice. Almost a shame it is hidden. It clicked into place nicely.

I have three of these in my setup: One connecting my TV (for the ATSC tuner's audio output) to an optical switch, one connecting my computer to the switch, and one connecting the switch to my receiver.

They all work great in all modes (DD 5.1, DD 2ch, DTS 5.1, LPCM 2ch).

I bought this cable to connect my Logitech audio system to my computer. I got a perfect snap on both ends and great sound coming from my speakers.

The cable looks really elegant and high tech, so if run it were it will be visible you'll have a great plus there. I've been using it for several months without a problem.

Overall this is a high quality cable and I'm glad I purchased it.

Panasonic PV-GS59 MiniDV Camcorder with 30x Optical Zoom

Panasonic PV-GS59 MiniDV Camcorder with 30x Optical ZoomThe GOOD: digital audio 16-bit sound is great; 'zoom' sound level increase works well; love the joystick controls; manual adjustments are good. Outdoor video is good. Tiny battery. Very very lightweight. 30x zoom rocks WHEN you use a TRIPOD!

The BAD: No microphone jack. No S-Video jack. No earphone / headphone jack. Moderate to low light video is cr*p compared to my 8-year old Sony Hi8 camcorder.

The UGLY: There is no S-video jack, and the miniplug in front for external audio/video connections is very loose and you lose connection when moving the camera around, so you can't watch live video on an external monitor consistantly.

IF it had a better external video/audio connector and better medium/low light video, I would love this camcorder; but like I said, I bought this to replace my 8-year old Sony Hi8 camcorder but the old Sony works better indoors for the 'school play' than does this unit. Very dissapointed with the grainy digital artifacts at indoor lighting. If video indoor was better, and it had the external jacks, I would love the Pansonic PV-GS59. Too bad, as this unit had so much promise to be an outstanding camcorder other than lowlight issues and lack of external connectors. If I had to do it over again, I would shop for a new Sony Hi8 camcorder instead.

i'm totally satisfied with this camcorder. it fill every expectatives i could have about it. i don't agree with the complaints about the bad sound and bad video in low light. in fact, i'm amazed about the way it can film in very low light (more than i can hope). obviously the quality isn't perfect, it's a little grainy but, if you want perfection, then go for an expensive professional cam. the only problem i can detect in it is the difficult for keep it controlled in full zoom (which is amazing) without shaking but, consider that my girlfriend can keep it reasonably steady in full zoom, i think it must be my own fault.

otherwise here is a noticeable point i want to show and it is about the seller. i bought it from electronicsexpo and i have only good comments about they. they're totally professionals. my first cam came with a manufacture malfuction in the lcd. i told they and they inmediatly solved the problem properly. they send me a new cam in replace the damaged. they also were too friendly and comprehensive people with me. i definitely recomend this great camcorder and more definitely recomend electronicsexpo as an excellent seller.

please, sorry for my little english.

I'm not sure about Amazon's site. This is my third attempt at a review. It keeps disappearing as I type. The camera is decent for something I did not order. It was shipped as a substitute the day BEFORE it was supposed to arrive with the seller not asking first, if they may substitute. So it arrived late and was a surprise. Since I have a similar model which lasted a year (just past the guarantee) I find this model to be just as nice, but for durability you must ask me in a year!

The zoom is a great feature but doesn't make up for the HORRIBLE Audio and HORRIBLE video in low light. When I contacted Panasonic, basically the bottom line was too bad.

Want Panasonic PV-GS59 MiniDV Camcorder with 30x Optical Zoom Discount?

This camera has all of the options that you would want in a mini-dv camcorder 32x zoom, camera light, light weight, compact, very user friendly, good battery life, and great ease of use. However, all of these extras do not matter because the recorded video quality is horrible. My five year old Kodak digital camera which has a video record mode as a "bonus" provides better video quality. Panasonic needs to advance pass the video quality of the early 1980's to keep up with the competition this camera was immediately returned.

Q-See QSTD2408-500 8-Channel H.264 CIF Real-time Recording DVR with Mobile Phone Surveillance, Remo

Q-See QSTD2408-500 8-Channel H.264 CIF Real-time Recording DVR with Mobile Phone Surveillance, Remote Internet Monitoring and Pre-Installed 500GB HDDOverall this is a nice product. There are somethings that will make you want to run to the nearest medicine cabinet and pull out the asprin but overall the DVR works as advertised.

CONS:

1. Noisy, if you planned on placing this somewhere in the open plan on hearing it run, the fan is very noisy. Not a problem for my installation as it is in an area which I seldom enter.

2. Big. The unit is larger (Depth) than some others but again not a big issue if you have the room for it.

3. Manual. Ok, this will make you run and buy another bottle of asprin. The manual is written in an "interesting" fashion. You can download a copy of it from the Q-See website if your interesting in seeing it before you buy it. Most of the setup is easy, you may have some problems with the internet portion, but most teenagers should be able to get that hooked up for you in no time.

4. Mouse could be alot better quality than what they put, but with the cost of a good mouse being as low as they are not really a problem overall. Mouse is USB by the way.

PROS:

1. Handles the inputs of both PAL and NTSC without problems (yes, only one type at a time and you can not mix them but most people do not worry about that so pretty much a non issue).

2. Is 110/220 volt. Nice for those who may move around alot or live outside the USA.

3. Good quality recording, monitoring and overall video feed. The live view has a very slight delay but nothing to really worry about. The recording comes out a very good quality. Have not been able to test all 8 cameras at same time yet but will update when I can for now this comment is based on 5 cameras at once.

Overall I would give this a 4 as the item works exactly as advertised.

great product! our DVR died and as soon as we plug this in, it started working. excellent picture!!!

con: noise... not a problem if you put it under the table... however, if its on the table, it is noisy.

mouse came dead.. used a spare usb mouse

iphone driver needs to be downloaded from istore (for free though).

pro: easy interface, great picture, 500gb hd is awesome for about 2 weeks worth of recording. option to recycle hd automatically.

viewing option: 3x3,2x2,1x1

good remote control

ability to add extra sata harddrive easily via a server like slot

ability to add esata hd

internet viewing works great

Buy Q-See QSTD2408-500 8-Channel H.264 CIF Real-time Recording DVR with Mobile Phone Surveillance, Remo Now

I had a professional install the cameras, power supply and DVR. That's probably the way to go. The unit works very well. It is noisy, but I think they're probably all noisy. Install the unit in a room you don't sleep in.

Besides having a professional install the system, I recommend you make sure it's on a surge protector w/ some battery backup AND that the location to access the DVR is in a lockable/secure closet. The area probably also needs decent air circulation/cooling.

What I like:

1. It is reliable. Knock on wood... Q-see has worked through all kinds of stuff including a few power outages. It's on usually 24-7 and hasn't let me down yet.

2. It works well with a variety of cameras. I bought different types of cameras...the picture is as clear as I would expect etc. Only one camera caused problems, but it's the brand of camera...not the Q-see.

3. I can hook up the DVR to my projector or a variety of PC monitors. The DVR has many connections including the video connections via a "round" serial port, which a lot of "newer" machines do not have. But my projector (another rock solid purchase, knock on wood) was only 400 bucks five years ago at Home Depot, and it STILL works gang-busters. I'm not getting rid of it just because I need an new-fangled video connection.

4. "Programming" is easy Customizing the sensitivity and alarms for various motion triggers on the cameras is EZ! I am pleased with the features.

5. Internet access works You need to use IE, but viewing the cameras and recordings and setting features works well through the Activex interface. My only issue is the firewall at work...

To make setup even easier, Qsee's website now has port-forwarding instructions. Setting up the internet access is a little "trial and error" but that's the fault of firewalls and routers. The only teensy issue w/ Qsee itself is that I need to restart to have the port-changes "stick."

Great instruction booklet. Yep customer service is not "babysitting" but the DVR is well-designed and relatively simple to use, it's a non-issue for me.

I have gotten the product. It seem to do what it is suppose to do. The user interface design is something to be desired, but the product is functional and does what it says it does.

Mine has a few hardware problems. The remote does not work. The case fan is really loud. Channel 3 does not work must be a solder or component problem. Channel is a bit lose.

These should be minor problems to fix; however, since I have had no luck contacting support via phone or internet, I am a bit dissappointed. I would probably rate this a 4 if it had no problems or if support had been responsive.

Shipping from amazon was great! Price was great!

Sony GPS-CS3KA GPS Digital Imaging Accessory (White)

Sony GPS-CS3KA GPS Digital Imaging AccessoryThis makes geo-tagging easier.

I had a different GPS logger before which was Windows-only. It worked well but the software was a bit kludgy. It did things I didn't care about. All I want is the GPS coordinates in the photo's file. It was trying to be a photo-organizer. When I moved to a Mac I saw the Sony GPS logger and the fact that it doesn't require an OS and does everything on the fly and thought, "This is what I want it's just shy of actually having the camera do it but it's getting pretty close."

This GPS logger includes Windows software for organizing your photos and importing them and showing them on a map, etc. I haven't tried it.

Anyway, the basic deal is this: You synchronize your camera to the clock in the display of this device (which is better than my old one which didn't have a display you had to synchronize it at the computer or using a separate GPS or some other synchronized timepiece). You go out and take pictures and carry this logger with you. At the end of the day you slide your memory stick or SD card into this device and it will add the coordinates to each of the pictures. Nothing more you need to do. If you take those photos and load them onto Flickr then they'll show up on the map there.

Two annoying things:

You have to open/close the back cover when you insert your flash memory. The back-cover is more like a traditional batter cover but there is a little switch there that looks to see when the cover is open or not and the unit will not function if the cover is open. I suspect that this is to stop someone from pulling the flash memory when it's updating but it seems like a needless extra step.

It will only update photos in batches of 60. You leave the flash memory in the device (with the cover closed) and just cycle through multiple sets of 60 photos (it sees whether the photo already has the info and excludes it from the next batch). Still, kind of annoying that you can't just put the flash memory in and say, "do it!," and have it update the entire lot.

It uses a single AA battery which is nice as you can just take some rechargeable batteries with you and swap them out as needed and recharge them when you get home. My old GPS logger had a specialized internal battery, which worked fine, but I had to remember to bring something that would let me charge it each night (a USB mini-B cable and some kind of power source). With this I can just swap the batteries out when needed and, if I forget, I can just buy some AA batteries when I'm out.

The good:

Accuracy of position finding is very good

The bundled software is excellent

Battery life is very useful, 15 hours are easily reachable

Set-up and operation is very simple

Relatively short time to find satellites (usually around one minute after start up)

Small size

Display for set-up and operation data

Theoretical possibility to geo tag your photos without a computer

The bad:

Documentation is spartan you need to go on the internet to find additional information

Set-up of GMT is not intuitive you have to figure out the Daylight Savings Time settings first, which is not mentioned in the documentation

You have to absolutely set your camera time exactly in sync to the GPS time; the unit records a measurement every 15 seconds, so if you are off a few seconds and move your position quickly, like in a car or so, the tag will be a couple of hundred yards off; believe me, that happens more often than you think, and the only way to remedy this is to undertake a manual correction in the bundled PMB software which, thankfully, is very easy to do ...

The ugly:

You have to remove the cover to access the SD card slot ... what a boneheaded design decision ...

I use this unit extensively to geo tag my photos now bought it originally to have this functionality available for my blog ()

It took me a couple of (frustrating) days to figure out, why my photos were not tagged correctly at first: the device uses GMT as basic time and to set your local time, you have to figure in the effect of Daylight Savings Time ...

But after that hurdle was taken, the tagging worked great.

The in-device tagging functionality also works flawless but you have to remove the cover every time you want to insert a SD card. It also drains the battery more quickly.

Because the device will hold several hundred hours of geo logs, there really is no need to tag the files directly on the SD card. It is much more convenient to this via the bundled software, where you can correct single tags if you need to and believe me, the need will arise as soon as you are hooked, and you only will accept the most precise location data possible anymore ... :)

To sum it up:

The GPS functionality works great, battery life is great, the software is great, the position of the SD card slot is stupid. I am very happy with this little gadget.

This is a simple GPS data logger that does not need a computer. Thus no Windows vs Mac stuff. Set the time and time zone, strap it to your camera strap, and go. When you're ready, take the SD card (or silly Sony memory stick) from the camera, put it in the CS3KA, select "Match" and you're good. Geotag info is written to your photos. Then import them into iPhoto, or Google Earth, or whatever. No software needed, no computer needed. Just like much acclaimed Photofinder, but the GPS lock takes only seconds. The LCD screen is even readable in bright sunlight without back-lighting. My only complaint -it should come in black to match most cameras.

Read Best Reviews of Sony GPS-CS3KA GPS Digital Imaging Accessory (White) Here

This little GPS has solved a problem I've been working on for months: how to easily and quickly add geotag data to digital photos taken with my Nikon D60. There are lots of recommended solutions online, such as:

take one photo at each spot using your GPS-enabled iPhone, then upload from iPhone and camera and use iPhoto (yes, I'm a Mac) to copy the location data to other pics taken at the same spot (tedious, approximate, needs a PC)

carry a small GPS while taking photos, download the GPS track file to your PC, convert it to a compatible format, and merge it with the photo files (extremely tedious, needs a PC and special software)

buy a Nikon GP-1 and attach it to the flash shoe on the camera (bulky appendage on the camera, chews up battery life, doesn't work with D60)

I've tried the first two methods and they work but they're tedious, require a PC, or have other problems. You can also buy one of the few cameras with internal GPS, but that's expensive and doesn't help me with my D60.

This little Sony GPS-CS3KA sweeps away nearly all those drawbacks. I've only used it for a couple of days and have found it does exactly what it claims, quickly and easily. I shoot hi-res JPG, thus avoiding the non-Sony RAW problem mentioned elsewhere. (Somewhat understandable on Sony's part, since the various brands' RAW formats are so different.) Here's how it works:

You turn on the Sony GPS (insert one AA, press On button) and let it "triangulate", in the arcane terminology of the instruction booklet, meaning acquire the satellite signals.

Select the time zone you're in and set Daylight Savings if needed.

Sync your camera to the GPS' time. I found it easy to set my Nikon's time to within a couple of seconds of the GPS' time, which gave me excellent location accuracy.

Take photos all day, while keeping the little Sony in an outside pocket.

Slip the camera's SD card into the back of the GPS, select Match on the menu and wait a couple of minutes for the GPS data to be added to the photo files on the SD card. (It will only do 60 at a time, so you may need to repeat this step.)

That's all.

I drove around with the GPS lying on the dashboard, stopping to take pics of landmarks. After processing as above, I uploaded the pics to iPhoto and checked their locations in Places on iPhoto. All of the locations were strikingly accurate: within a few yards of where I took the photo. Keep in mind, of course, that the object or landmark in the photo may not be anywhere near that photo-taking spot; e.g., a photo of Mt Rainier taken from downtown Seattle.

Yes, the back cover is a little flimsy, but that didn't bother me, and I don't find it inconvenient to remove and replace it when inserting the memory card. I used the little wire loop inside the cover to add a camera-type wrist loop (not included) for safety.

All in all, I'm very pleased to have found this little item just before a trip to Asia, where those geotags will come in really handy. I'll update this review after the trip, and report how it held up under heavy daily use, tropical humidity, etc. Also whether it's a problem (time, battery life) to match the files in batches of 60, after a full day of shooting a few hundred pics.

Want Sony GPS-CS3KA GPS Digital Imaging Accessory (White) Discount?

When I first heard of this device I was super excited to get it. I take a lot of pictures and often go scouting looking for interesting areas. In the past I carried a GPS and took a picture of its screen to recall where I found interesting places I might want to see again.

Alas, as soon as I opened the manual (which is not written by someone whose first language is English, but it is usable) I realized it was only going to work on JPG files, not RAW files (except for some Sony cameras). Of course I only shoot in RAW. NUTS! I should have realized this before I bought it. It only makes sense it isn't going to be able to handle a bunch of proprietary RAW files.

If you don't know what I mean by RAW, this device will work nicely for you. For 95%+ of the people, this won't be an issue for you, but for those of you with a DSLR who are really serious about your pics and use RAW images, this GPS won't work.

Well, OK it won't work as sold.

I DID NOT want to give this device up because it would really make my life a lot easier when on a scouting expedition. So I did some looking around.

You can use the Sony GPS's software to upload its log file to your computer. You can then use free software called GEOSETTER to look at the GPS log and the dates on your RAW files and have it update the EXIF information in the RAW file. GEOSETTER probably doesn't support EVERY raw file, but it supports many and it supports DNG so you can always convert your camera's RAW file into DNG and then GEOCODE the DNG.

I suspect (but haven't had time to experiment), you could actually use GEOSETTER with any hiking GPS that allows you to grab tracks (the GPS log) and save to your computer.

Outside of that I probably don't have much to add others haven't said. It seems to be pretty well built, has a decent carrying case, and is intuitive. You really don't have to read the manual. The USB plug was VERY tight though. But I used my own mini USB cable that is always dangling free for all my various devices.

I'm giving this 3 stars because it doesn't work for my application. Had I used JPG files, it would get at least 4.

Postscript: since writing this review, I have learned to use Geosetter to extract GPS logs from this device, my hiking GPS, and my auto GPS. Most of the time I actually use the hiking or auto GPS to geocode pics because I'm already using them. However, on the occasion where I don't have either with me, this GPS is in my camera bag and I can turn it on and use it for geocoding the pics I take.

I'm looking forward to trying this out on this weekends' expedition.

Pros:

Cheap

Cons:

Does not record while charging

Instruction manual is worthless

I don't understand why this product will not record while plugged in charging. What is the point of cycle recording with a huge 32GB SD card if you are limited by the battery that does not charge while in use? Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but the instruction manual offers no help.

ARKON CMP205 Motorcycle and Bicycle Handle Bar Mount with 5 Inch flexible extension for Cameras wit

ARKON CMP205 Motorcycle and Bicycle Handle Bar Mount with 5 Inch flexible extension for Cameras with 1/4 20 screw threadTried this mount with a flipcam on a road bicycle. Probably not the right application for this product.

The clamp mount fit the top tube (which was the good news), however road vibration was too much for the mount to hold the camera steady at speed (the video was unusable).

Will try my luck with a non-flexible rigid handlebar mount next.

J

I have had several different camera holders mounted on my motorcycle over the years but this device does a better job than many more expensive models I have tried. It is simple to mount and simple to use and durable. One caution: Before mounting it on your motorcycle, take it apart and coat the threads on all bolts and screws with Loctite. Vibration will cause the none treated threads to loosen on a long road trip.

This mount lasted for only 3 rides and then it fell apart in my hands as I was trying to aim the camera and click a shot. Very flimsy and wobbly. Not good for video at all even if you have electronic stabilization. If you buy it, be sure to secure your camera so that it can't fall when the arm of this mount breaks on you. I was lucky I had the wrist strap interlocked around my rear view mirror. Otherwise it would have hit the pavement at 70 mph.

Mount World 1424x2 Tier Component Shelf Wall Mount -- New Creative Concepts DVD, DVR, Blue Ray Wall

Mount World 1424x2 Tier Component Shelf Wall Mount -- New Creative Concepts DVD, DVR, Blue Ray Wall Mountdon't waste your money. $40 for two bent pieces of aluminum. Also, the bolts are cheap and they broke.

I like the idea of this product, but the piece thats suppose to cover the cords would not stay on. It does not snap into place, it keeps popping off. Lucky for me I was able to hide some of the cords because my dvd player is about 3" thick. Covering the cords was the reason I bought this and the price was right. There is truth in, "you get what you pay for"!!! I would have sent them back, but now I have these holes in my wall so the shelves will have to stay there until I find the perfect wall mount unit. I don't know if its a defect and I didn't bother to call the seller. I would have given this 5 star if the cord cover had snapped into place and stayed...

Flip SlideHD Video Camera - White, 16 GB, 4 Hours

Flip SlideHD Video Camera - White, 16 GB, 4 HoursI made a rig to mount a Flip SlideHD, a Flip UltraHD, and a Flip MinoHD (2nd gen) on the same tripod, and display the video synchronized, side by side.

This review demonstrates the new features of the SlideHD, and gets down to the nuts and bolts of specs, video, and price comparisons that might cause you to choose one over the other.

The Slide adds a number of features that make viewing video on the camera itself easier and more pleasurable.

I have been a Flip camera user since they released the first gen. Flip Mino HD (not the new metallic model). I loved the camera. For what I needed it for it was everything I wanted. However like ever product not everyone is going to love it one hundred percent. I did find a few faults with the my Mino HD.

#1 I thought the camera was a little to small and felt very flimsy in my hand. My hand shaking seemed to be amplified by the very small flimsy feeling camera in my hand.

#2 The touch sensitive controls were not that sensitive and pressing the controls caused the camera to shake and jerk.

But for the most part loved the sound and thought the picture was great.

Soon the Flip Ultra HD came out and I had to have it. Selling points on this camera were more storage space, no touch sensitive controls, and it was bigger and felt much more durable in the hand. But just like the Mino I did have some complaints.

#1 The rechargable batteries sucked and when I tried to recharge them my camera kept getting hot, causing it to shut down or stop charging.

#2 The microphone on the camera I thought was not as good as the Mino. Me being a band director I find that at times it distorts when filming my drumlines and band playing, but it was only on initial loud hits and pops.

Other than that I loved this camera and I use this one most of the time. This one has a wider shot then the Mino. It doesn't have touch sensitive controls making zooming much smoother. The camera is much larger and when my hand shakes the camera (video) tends not to.

Recently Cisco came out with the Flip Slide HD and once again I had to have it. I bought it the day it came out and took it to WGI World Percussion Championships in Dayton Ohio for some testing.

At first I was a little skeptical about the touch screen since I was not a fan of the Mino HD's touch sensitive controls. I was not to worried about the size since I think the bigger the size the more control you have and the less shaky your footage will be.

I think this shoots the best footage of all Flip Cameras. It is crystal clear. I was real surprised by the touch screen. It is not as sensitive as I thought it was going to be. Actually it is like if I was using my Flip Ultra HD. I love the feel in the hand. I am not real picky about the Slide out screen. I think that it is a great idea/feature and used it a few times this past weekend. The slide bar is a little confusing at first but you do get the hang of it. Its really not that big of a deal, but some people find this frustrating and give the camera a poor rating. I don't understand that. I love that they put a headphone jack on the camera. In the past two models I felt that the video got very pixelated when the camera was zoomed. I don't see that as much with the Flip Slide Hd. The video stays pretty clear when zooming.

I have only one issue with the camera. The Flip Slide HD has an omnidirectional microphone which is great (I am pretty sure the others use a unidirectional microphone), but it is really sensitive. Being close to my drumline at World Championships caused the camera to distort big time (inaudible at times). When I moved back away from them it got better (moved back like 15 20 yards). I am hoping that this will get fixed maybe in a firmware update or something like this.

I do have to say that I am a little upset with Cisco. I thought the new Flip camera would at least have image stabilization and the so much talked about WiFi capabilities, but no such luck. This however will not turn me away from my beloved Flip Cameras.

I have used a number of other HD Cameras such as the Kodak Zi8, and I prefer the Flip.

In my opinion

Flip Mino HD Best Microphone

Flip Ultra HD Widest Angle for shooting, feels the best in the hand

Flip Slide HD Best Video Quality

Thanks

****UPDATE**** (June 7th, 2010)

I have finally gotten around to uploading some video to youtube that showcases the Flip SlideHD and the Flip Mino HD. (click the youtube video link at the bottom of this update) You will be able to see and hear the difference in quality. The first four clips of the video were shot with the Flip Slide HD. You can see that the microphone is very active and I am standing about 10 to 15 feet away when I am video taping. The 5th, 6th, and 7th clips in the video are shot using the Flip Mino HD. I switch because it started raining and the Mino is my older camera so I really didnt care to much about getting it wet. The very last clip of the video is with the Flip slide HD. It stopped raining so I got out the new one to do more tests, since I only had the camera for about 2 days. The video was made in Final Cut Studio so there has been some compression to the video.

Hope this video helps a little.

This is my first video camera of any kind, and I am totally in love. I'm a bit technologically challenged, and so was pleasantly surprised to discover that the "set up" of this camera was easier than setting the time on my sports watch, and consisted only of scrolling through the date and time. Within thirty seconds of turning on the camera, I was ready to begin shooting my first movie clip. Unlike the digital point-and-shoot cameras I have owned, the menu and functions on this camera are completely intuitive. In no time at all, I had figured out how to start, stop, delete, replay, and scroll through my first few movie clips. I also needed no direction to view and maneuver the clips in wide-screen playback mode, and could therefore offer instant gratification to my children, who eagerly awaited the opportunity to see and hear themselves on film. Transferring the files to my computer was equally self-explanatory: within a minute or two of plugging the camera into a USB port, the software was installed, and I had named, saved, and emailed myself my favorite of the movie clips I'd just created. The image quality was excellent, even on the full screen of my computer display.

If I had to identify any drawbacks to this camera, I would say that the somewhat limited zoom range makes close-up shots of moving images (like my children) a bit challenging at first, and that you need a somewhat steady hand to avoid creating bumpy images. However, after only a few practice runs, I found that I was able to minimize these issues to my satisfaction. Overall, the ease of use, crisp images, and user-friendliness of this camera make it an absolute asset for any number of different contexts. I couldn't be more pleased.

I bought this camera and have been using it for several days. To answer one comment quickly, it does have a zoom. However the touch screen interface leads much to be desired. I have to repeatedly touch the screen hard to get a response, and often it is not what I wanted. To get on screen controls for volume etc you are supposed to "hold" the screen, but to return to thumbnails, you just "touch" it. Unfortunately, it repeatedly goes to thumbnails when you don't want it to. The interface is not very intuitive and unlike most other digital cameras, you do have to read the instructions.

It has both a touch sensitive slider as well as the on screen interface, and they duplicate several functions. I'm not sure why it was designed this way.

Deleting a video is a little kludgey in that you have to push several on screen buttons in a very non-intuitive way. Because the touch screen is so difficult to use, I rate this barely acceptable.

The Flip software on the Mac is a little difficult to use. Importing movies from the Flip to the software is easy, but getting it into iTunes is ridiculously difficult and requires a work around.

The quality of the video is good, the sound is poor.

I am sorry I purchased the camera, and will be returning it. I think it needs much more work to make it a good or excellent camera.

First of all, I love the verb branding Flip, Slide which verb will they think of next?

This camera allows you to showcase your videos in an easy way. Its touch screen is neat, and you can toggle through videos by just sliding your finger. This model has touch screen buttons play/record/zoom and you're sure to be envied by your friends who still have to "push buttons."

The wow factor: the screen slides and pops up. It's fun and impressive, but not gimmicky. And it can hold up to FOUR HOURS of video amazing.

Flip camera has mastered appealing to an excellent range of customers. The Flip can be used by kids, by grandparents or by business professionals. And the SlideHD perpetuates this even further. I would feel comfortable showing videos with the SlideHD to clients during a lunch in a cafe or during a meeting in a more professional setting virtually anywhere. I'm looking forward to possibly a chrome version.

For my personal use, I still prefer the 2nd gen MinoHD, which is the BEST camera in its class. It's one that I would highly recommend to anyone: No frills, but high quality images and sound.

Ematic EMS004PN eSport Clip MP3 Video Player with Video Recorder

Ematic EMS004PN eSport Clip MP3 Video Player with Video Recorder
  • 4GB Flash Memory
  • 1.8 inches Color Display
  • 5MP Camera with LED flash and Video Recorder
  • Sports Clip
  • FM Radio

The easiest mp3 player I have used. It is really nice to be able to drag and drop files from my music folder to my mp3 player folder.

If you are buying a 4gb mp3 player with a camera and tuner for $22, you better bring your sense of humor with you. I bought my eSport for $30. Since I had my sense of humor handy, I decided to get the pink model. I like the color. I think it sets my dark running shorts off nicely.

When I plugged the player into my computer, it worked! It actually started to charge. To make things better, my Linux Mint operating system recognized it. I was so shocked my mouse hand went numb! I opened up a random music folder and dropped the whole thing into the mp3 folder and the player took it. When I looked at the folder, it contained both mp3 and ogg files. Ogg is the open source music format. Since it took the music so easily, I got cocky and drug an avi file over to see what would happen. To my surprise, all of the music played. As an added bonus, the Japanese music showed up on the display in Kanji. The video did not work because I did not resize it.

The music player worked. The buttons are extremely clunky but navigation is possible. The player comes with a cheap little speaker that works. It is kind of neat to clip it onto the back of my bike jersey and listen to poor quality music. When I am going up the side of a mountain, it is nice to have a tempo to help set a pace. I don't really listen to the music but the tempo is there. I listened to the player through some Bose headphones with satisfactory results. It was not like listening to the music from a PC with a $200 sound card but the sound was okay.

The video camera works. With 4gb of available memory, you can record for a while. The camera works. It has a flash but I am not sure it does anything. Half the time when I take a picture, I am not sure if I took the picture or not. ¾ of the time when I take a picture, I am not sure if I am in the camera mode. The pictures and video transfer to my computer by drag and drop.

I am currently using it as my car mp3 player. It has about 6 hours of battery use and still going strong. When I turn it off and back on, it remembers the track it was playing. Every time I throw it back into its hole for the trip, it changes the song from the touchy controls that are only sensitive when you don't want them to do anything.

Pros:

It is cheap

It works!

Very easy file transfer

Plays variable formats, mp3, wav and ogg. I did not feel like looking for Apple files to drag over.

Lots of memory storage

Expandable memory

Nice colors

Comes with a cool video about a rabbit

Cons:

It is cheap

It is slow

Navigation is frustrating

I can't figure out where the buttons are located

It is big

Final grade Pass

It is a $30 mp3 player. It does what I want and some extra stuff. It is easy enough to figure out. I did not read the instructions and managed just fine. The buttons do not work very well but they get the job done. I will not cry when it breaks. I bought a cheap mp3 player so I could sweat all over it and not cry when I get caught out in the rain. Remember your sense of humor when use something like this.

I bought this for my 9 year old daughters birthday so she would quit using my MP3 player. It is cute and has more features than my Sony does. The feel is a little cheap and plastic but everything works even after being dropped a few times already. The only complaint I can come up with is the battery life, it lasts about 2 1/2 to 3 hours and needs recharged again.

Want Ematic EMS004PN eSport Clip MP3 Video Player with Video Recorder Discount?

It is easy to load music on to this player however that is the only good thing about it. When you push a button it doesn't respond immediately, which is very frustrating. It's difficult to make play list or even to play all your music at random. I would not waste my money on this. Wish I had never bought it.

Worked for 10 minutes then it went dead never to play again. Even though the price is good as well as the stated specifications the product is like a child's toy.

JVC GRD750 MiniDV Camcorder with 34x Optical Zoom

JVC GRD750 MiniDV Camcorder with 34x Optical ZoomThis Camcorder offers high value for those needing a casual use camcorder. I find this light-weight cam is well made, delivering decent quality video, and is easy to operatewith both auto and manual modes. It does suffer from the limitations most, if not all, budget 1/6 CCD .68mp camcorders have. It struggles in low-light (bumping up the exposure and/or adjusting white balance helps), and playback on a high resolution or a big screen monitor with only .68mp isn't always flattering. Playback on more normal size screens (like my 27" set) are fine. Outdoors and in regular lighting situations this camera performs very well. Indoor quality suffers without enough light, and I usually use manual mode to improve things.

From the couple of other posts, there may be quality control issues. I have none and it seems to be well made. There are other sites with almost universally positive personal reviews, so hopefully JVC has addressed any issues.

It only has a firewire (no USB), so PC users must have a firewire port if they want to edit. I use a mac and have no issues using iMovie.

Likes: OIS, 34X zoom, 16x9 or 4x3 modes, battery life (about 2 hours), manual control, size, build quality, price.

Dislikes: No DV cable (does anybody include one?), no software, focus issues with low-light and occasionally at the long end of zooms, sub-par audio.

Overall I find the D750 to be a very predictable camcorder, offering good quality videos at an almost steal of a price. I'd recommend this camcorder to anyone, and think it would be a perfect learning tool for someone getting started, or those who travel frequently (small size) or perhaps have higher loss risks (low price).

I bought this in October. I just love it!! It's so easy to use and packed with features. The fader gives a professional quality look and feel to video footage. The video quality is fine for my needs(I'm an amatuer lol). The features are easy to access and a breeze to operate. I love the 34X zoom on this thing! I can stand on one side of the river and snap photos/shoot video in another country without any blur whatsoever. The images are crystal clear! They look as though all subjects are directly in front of me!!Downloading to PC is a breeze with the firewire cable(seperate purchase). If I had one complaint it would be that this model does'nt have a slot for a memory card but for the price I paid for mine it's no big loss. It's lightweight and so sleek looking. It performs relatively well in lower light situations. I'm very happy with the camcorder! I would (and have) recommend the JVC GRD750 to anyone in the market for a quality MiniDV camcorder. This is a purchase that gives a lot of bang without having to spend a lot of money. Thanks JVC!

I just love this camcorder. Its very easy to handle and operate. I just recorded my daughters band performance and it turned out just fine. I would recommend this camera to anyone. I also got this camera for only $179 at Circuit City that was a steal. I was able to get a bag and 3 tapes for only $11.99 on Wal-marts website.

I have owned this camera for nearly 3 years. Yet, in that time, the camera has been used for less than 6 hours. And I know that for sure because I bought three 2 hours tapes and have yet to use all three of them.

I am happy with the image it can capture. The 1 DVD I made using footage from this camera (of course imported through firewire at high quality setting of the capture software and burned at max. resolution) looks pretty good. Battery life is about 1 1/2 hours max.

However, this camera just died on me recently. It keeps telling me that the lens cap is on and won't record anything or show anything on the screen even though the lens cap is removed. The playback of previous recorded tapes are okay though. Anyway, I thought I got unlucky and started shopping for a new camcorder and I come to find out that JVC issued a recall on a slew of models because they had a bad CCD board. Don't believe me? Just google "JVC lens cap" or "JVC CCD". They have admitted this problem on over 20+ models. However, the internet is full of owners of JVC models not on this list with the same problem. The GR-D750 is not on the list, so when I called JVC for help, they told me my camera was not part of the recall and it would cost anywhere from $100-$200 to fix my camera.

Maybe the exact root cause is not the same, but the end result is so I was extremely dissatisfied with their response. So bottom line, I will be shopping for another brand and hope for better luck.

Want JVC GRD750 MiniDV Camcorder with 34x Optical Zoom Discount?

This camera takes professional quality video. It is so easy to upload if you have a decent graphic card. For the price this is great. This camera has almost zero noise from the motor unlike some canon models.

Thanks JVC.

Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick

Pinnacle TV for Mac HD StickI just unboxed this 15 mins ago and it's up and running and brilliant!

There aren't a whole lot of digital HD channels yet here in brooklyn, about 10 that I can pick up in fair quality, and about 4 in great quality.... but you can pick up all your regular analog channels too. NBC HD looks amazing and the color fidelity is more than I expected.

I have a macbook pro core2duo 2.2ghz. Receiving the NBC HD channel takes about 90% of 1 of the 2 cores of this processor on Activity Monitor -does not skip or jitter, no lag running other applications. I've posted a screenshot of it on this review also... but the small size doesn't do it justice. Native resolution is about 1420 x 800 in HD.

The software it comes with is also quite intelligent... eyeTV Lite.... and the remote is functional and almost has a Front Row kinda feel, appropriate for an apple device. Has tivo like controls built into the remote... you can pause live HD, and record-yes. I didn't think it would work so easily, but it works without configuration. Comes with a free subscription to TitanTV to receive your program guide info. You can also plug a cable box into it and use the titan TV software to get the cable guides..

The device itself is compact, and I expect it'll be easy to "pack your TV" along with you anywhere you go.

It also functions as a DV bridge and has inputs for S-video, yellow RCA video, and a headphone like line-in for audio (you'll need a RCA to mini patch cable if you wanna use RCA audio inputs)... so you can hook up your cable TV, VCR, playstation, xbox, anything that uses standard outputs -and use your computer screen as a TV replacement.

Overall I got much more than I expected. A+

Thanks.

The Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick is a nice compact product and comes complete with everything you need to watch television anywhere. With the included antenna, you can watch regular TV broadcast channels and HDTV as well. It can also take cable/sat TV as well. All you really do is insert the USB hookup with the antenna or cable TV line and install the software. Once installed and work with the setup, you are good to go.

The quality of the programs looks great in HD, and is a great alternative to purchasing a HD television. I use a Macbook (1st generation), and it meets all the requirements to view high definition programming.

One of the small issues is that when you set-up your channels, it does an auto scan. If you live in a place that has some difficulty getting reception, you might want to do your autoscan somewhere near a window where the antenna can lock-into the channels. Once autoscan is done, you should be OK. It took me a couple of tries to get all the channels that are available.

Buy Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick Now

I purchased this product to connect to my MBP to capture from VHS tape. The product works flawlessly. Audio & video sync perfectly and the integration with Toast is awesome. That makes it very simple to capture and convert to DVD. It allows conversion to different file formats (AVI MPG etc)in case you want to save a digital file rather than burn directly to DVD, which is nice for me because I like to keep an archive copy on a portable drive.

I took off 1 star because when you convert to AVI MPG DVD etc, you don't have much control over the output filesize. If you are capturing a 1.5+ hour long video, chances are you will not be able to fit the conversion to a standard DVD, you will need a dual layer burner.

The over the air HD reception is a neat feature, but wouldn't be and wasn't my primary reason for buying. It's tough to receive OTA HD signals from INSIDE so your channel selection will be limited without an external antenna.

Things to note:

1. You will need a 2 RCA to 3.5mm stereo audio patch cable to connect left and right audio from the source (like a VCR or DVD)

2. The package comes with a lite version of EyeTV. I highly recommend upgrading to the full product right away if you are planning to use this a a DVR. The lite version just doesn't cut it. Even if you choose not to upgrade go directly to EyeTV and download the latest lite version as the one on the disk is outdated.

The Pinnacle TV for Mac HD Stick provides broadcasts and recordings of television programs conveniently and simply. It's worth upgrading from the provided EyeTV lite to the EyeTV full application that enables scheduled program recording as well as burning recorded programs to discs or converting them to various formats, including the iPod. I have a 24-inch iMac and the HD stick turns my computer into a high-quality HD television and DVR (I use an external drive to archive the recorded programs). I highly recommend this tuner for its price and ease of use.

PYLE-PRO PPR80 Digital Portable Stereo Voice Recorder with Built-In 2 GB Flash Memory

PYLE-PRO PPR80 Digital Portable Stereo Voice Recorder with Built-In 2 GB Flash MemoryI needed a digital audio recorder with a Line Input connection. I have used the PPR80 for capturing MP3 files from old reel-to reel tapes and to record sermons at our church by connecting it to our sound board. It has worked well and provided clear audio every time. It looks like a toy but really works.

New note: the recorder quit working within the warranty period so I contacted the Pyle repair center and they had me send it to them for repair. That was in October, it is now January. I sent multiple emails and even mailed a hardcopy letter, but I have heard nothing at all. As long as they work they work well, but there is no support at all if you have a problem.

AWESOME!!! Being able to load the recordings on my laptop is so cool. The recorder picks up my acustic guitar and vocals very well, and the play back through the stereo sounds super clear. battery powered, so playing anywhere is easily done, quit an upgrade from my old hand held recorder, i like it!

Well.. I do like mine and I'd say it has been beneficial It was shipped very quickly which I appreciated., The bass player in our band is just learning to play and it really helps her for us to record what we did a few nights before. Actually it helps everyone. It is awesome that it is very compact and lightweight & wherever I take it we can load what we've done on anyone's computer. Has ample memory too.

But I do wish it was rechargeable somehow instead of having to buy batteries. And the recording quality isn't the best, it says something about recording delicate waves of sound in the advert and I don't think I'd go that far.

But for having only $100 to spend I dig mine!

I can record hours and hours of music with this little device. I also admire linking the recorder to my mixer to manage edits and any changes I'd like before loading my final draft. This works very well with a direct line to record, and also well from the microphone pickup. Very pleased with the recording and playback, it's very clear audio.

Build quality is not that cheap. Feature wise, there is more there than than I expected. I used a class 4 32GB micro-sd in an adapter, it gives me 16+ hours of record time at 9600k stereo. This is awesome! When I record myself playing acoustic guitar, it sounds great. When I play it back through a jam box, it sounds like I am playing the guitar live again. If you were outside the door, you wouldn't be able to tell the real from the recording. What more could you ask for? Love being able to put in new fresh AAs. Battery life was not as short as I expected, I am still on my original set, and have used the thing for recording and playback for several hours of run time. So far, it does what I hoped for, perfectly.

Sylvania 4 GB Video MP3/MP4/MP5 Player with 3.6-Inch Touch Screen (Expandable Memory Slot) Black

Sylvania 4 GB Video MP3/MP4/MP5 Player with 3.6-Inch Touch Screen Blackbefore i post my review, i want to say that i spent alot of time

going over various mp3 players with video, looking for something

that was around $50 or less, but with a decent screen size that

your eyes wouldn't fall out from staring constantly at.

with this product, the Sylvania 4 GB 3.6-Inch Touch Screen,

for the price, screen size, extra memory slot, its more than

a deal, its a steal, comparing to all the other players at this

price, and its a brand name most of us know.

the video aspect was my main reason for purchasing this player,

most reviews haven't really covered what it really can do, hopefully

i will be able to share some insight, i will list below what i was

able to achieve.

this player can play avi/wmv video @ any bitrate, and i mean

any bitrate, weather its 1000 or 5,000, the decoder on this player

streams it perfect, no stuttering, no lost of sync issues ive found.

the aspect ratio : i had to do a lot of research on this player,

since its not listed on the actual video size it can play, at 3'6 inches

i assume the playback would be 320x240 (which it does play this just fine

with no pixel loss) but i was able to encode bluray video source to

400x240 @ 2000kbps and it was beautiful, sharp, and in sync.

was able to have it play both avi & wmv in both those aspect/ratios

just fine in the player, ive read on some players aspect ratio is really

sticky because if its too big or too small, it just wont play, and people

usually spend hours trying to figure out what's the right size.

you can actually throw in 720x480 video (which i did test) there was some

slow playback, so i wouldn't suggest it, i would probably keep the video

at 400x240 just for the sake of having clear crisp quality.

i know this isn't an apple product, or even an Archos, but its pretty

impressive, video playback is always a big issue with people for those

who want something decent, and not worrying if it will play the right

format, sure it would be nice if this could decode .mp4, but im happy

with the avi/wmv format.

the encoders i tested are :

AVS-Video-Converter

Xilisoft Video Converter

Ultra video joiner

the package did not come with a disc, or any software to encode video,

which is fine, because usually those encoders are really bad, and they

dont let you tweak or set bitrates/frames/cropping to your liking, and

if you cannot afford a decent video encoder, there's alot of open source

ones found at video help.

i hope this review helps those who are on the fence about this player,

as for the music, i had no issues, playback, volume was fine, but the

video was my main reason for purchasing this product, and for the price,

screen size. you cannot find a better player on the market.

I got this player in black and it came with a USB charging cable and earphones as a gift i think it was December 2008. A couple months of using it and the on/off button broke. I was so disappointed.

Pros:

It's light

It was easy to use

The players case is soft, gel like, so it wont slip easy from your hands

I was able to read my books and save bookmarks for them

I had no problem loading media files through Windows Media Player or just drag and dropping them into the folder

The touchscreen was easy to calibrate

It has to headphone jacks

A hold button, so you can put it in your pocket and forget about it.

there is an expandable memory slot, I had 4gb micro sdhc that works as a separate memory

3.6" Full Color LCD Touch Screen, which is an ok size for viewing movies.

Supports MP3, WMA, JPEG and TXT files

Built-In Rechargeable Battery and speaker

Voice Recording, i never tried this out though

Cons:

As with most touchscreens, it needed a few taps to finally respond.

In sunlight it was hard to see the videos I was trying to watch

The extra memory slot did not combine with the memory from the player

I couldn't play some of the movies/tv shows I loaded, I'm not sure what type they were maybe I was loading the wrong type

The build in speaker was not loud enough so it made it hard to hear as I moved around the room

Like I said before it broke, I went to turn it off and the button broke inside and my friend tried to attach it but the copper strip was not working anymore.

All in all, for my first player it was great. I would still be using it if it hadn't broke.

Not too bad of a player and is easy to use and set up , but the touch screen doesn't always work so well even when you calibrate it.

But for the price and ability to add a SD micro card for more storage not a bad player. If the the touch screen were to work better I would give it a 5 star rating.

I bought this item back in july of 2011 for my 3yr old daughter. we're always in the car and Although we previously had a portable dvd player she always preferred my ipod since it was her size and she could hold it. I purchased this item because of the price. i've had no problems with it and my daughter totally loves it. The display is Nice; the sound quality isn't too great on its own but she always uses her headphones so its not really an issue; and It has a screen lock so she can't mess it up while i'm driving. it also comes in handy because i can fit about 7 movies onto 1 8gb micro sd card. Its been dropped; stepped on; spilled on; and played with and it still works. The only real negatives i have found with this product is the battery does die after 1 or 2 movies but i keep a usb charger in the car to fix that problem. All and all this item exceeded all my expectations and was excellent for the price.

PTC 20ft PREMIUM GOLD Series WHITE HDMI 1.3 CERTIFIED 24AWG CL2 rated cable for Blu-Ray, Cable and

PTC 20ft PREMIUM GOLD Series WHITE HDMI 1.3 CERTIFIED 24AWG CL2 rated cable for Blu-Ray, Cable and satellite boxes, X-box, PS3, HD-DVR...After 15', you may notice the selection for HDMI cables thins out a bit, especially if you don't want to break the bank. I got this cable to connect my computer to my television, and it works great. The only thing to note about it would have to be how hefty it isthis thing is very heavy duty. The cable is thick; about what your typical grounded type extension cord is like in terms of both circumference and flexibility! Don't let this deter you though, just be aware that this is not super flexible or discreet (depending on how you are going to use it), but it works great and seems quite sturdy.

I wanted a long HDMI cable so that I could run the cable from my laptop to our HD TV. In the stores, the only length available was 6 feet and I needed more. I found this cable on Amazon and ordered it. It has worked fabulous. I can run Netflix from my laptop to the TV and I can show family members things I'm viewing online. It's great. I'm really pleased with this purchase.

This is a good, high-quality cable. I don't have a bunch of experience with HDMI cables, but this one seemed extremely nice. It's thicker than my co-axial cable and seems to transmit the image and sound very well.

Bought it to connect my BenQ projector from the ceiling mount and it works perfectly. I don't have any connections problems with signal and the movie plays completely without any interruptions. The cable is not as flexible but it looks of a very good quality.

Daewoo DV6T811N DVD-VCR Combo

Daewoo DV6T811N DVD-VCR Combo
  • DVD player with 6-head, hi-fi VCR
  • Quasi S-VHS playback lets you enjoy S-VHS tapes recorded on other machines
  • DVD player reads DVD-Video, CD, and MP3 CD
  • Coaxial and optical digital-audio outputs for immersive surround sound with a compatible AV receiver
  • NTSC and PAL video outputs display overseas media

I've had an apex1500 (love it), and various VHS machines.

I wanted a machine that would play VHS, VCD, SVCD, DVD-R, and mp3s. This machine does all reasonably well. The picture quality

is good, not as great as sony or apex, but close. There are

occasional black square flashs on some disks, but nothing

annoying. I'd rate this a full 5, but the mp3 playback only

shows short (useless) filenames on the screen, which means

you have to label your disks, and remember whats on them

rather than read the screen. There is a macrovision and region

free option at vcdhelp.com.

You can't touch any dual deck that does all these formats

for less than $400. So this is a great value.

Over a 7 day period I searched the web for a replacement for the player that was inadvertently dropped and irreparably broken. Looking for the most features, highest reviews, and best dollar value I arrived at my top 3. The Daewoo DV6T811N was my first pick for reasons obvious as soon as I used it...It was easy to set up, the manual was clear and on a "user" level so it was playing "The Maxtrix" 15 minutes after I got home.

The only problem was that the DVD I played was rented and it was necessary to thoroughly clean the disk to get the picture to quit stuttering. After that though, I watched the entire movie trouble free, my family used the player (in DVD and VCR mode) several times with no problems either as I told them about cleaning first.....

I like anything I buy to last as long as possible so I usually end up spending more money for what I need. In this case I got the best as well as...more dollars left in my pocket! Spend more money if you need to get a particular brand, but if you want the best value get this one.

I've purchased this same item at Targets for 144.00 on sale. This is connected to a Daewoo 25" TV I've had since 1994.The matching daewoo set show better quality than most brand names that cost more. Deawoo has got my business from now on.

The average selling price NEW, in box, with the remote is over $179 in the stores that sell them still. Make sure you get the real remote when you buy this. It will save you the headaches of changing settings with a universal.

This is a great multi-format and multi-frequency player. One of the easiest to use that I've tried.

I have:

VCDs @ 15, 23.976, 25, 29.97, 29.99 fps

DVDs @ 23.976, 25, 29.97 fps

VHS @ 23.976, 25 fps

SVHS-HD @ 24.998, 29.97, 30, 50, 60 fps

This is a direct-decode unit. That means that the decoder inside actually outputs the audio and video at the exact frequency that the media specifies. Contrary to conversion output units that modify the video by squishing the video resolution to fit and over/under-syncing the FPS rate, that generally create sporadic and often undesirable results.

My only complaint is actually one of the gems of this unit. The menus do not allow any setting for changing the output resolution and frequency and resolution aside from some basic over-scan, pan-and-scan, and zoom features. That's because it's a directunit.

I noted that some people complained that this didn't play on PAL on NTSC TVs. You will need to have a monitor/TV capable of displaying at the output resolution and refresh rate.

You can use a modern LCD computer monitor with adjustable refresh rate. Most LCD and Plasma TVs that are labelled HD 1080p have multiple settings in the advanced menu to change the scan rates. That's because it's cheaper for manufactures who are already including high-end receivers and decoders to simply include everything in a unit. That way they can sell the same units all over the world.

You'll have to switch back and forth depending on what you're playing; but that's the only issue.

If you have the proper setup. This is a great unit.

This is not worth the price. It is not dependable. The picture quality is average at best. The media compartments are flimsy and sluggish in response. Look at other brands. For a few dollars more you can do much better (think Toshiba or Sony).
