I got this as a backup for a 3' optical cable i purchased in the same order, and i haven't needed to break it out yet. Considering that i got two cables (a 12' and 3') for under $10 and that a similar cable from Monster would have costed me over $30, i don't consider it a waste. Some customers have complained of high shipping costs when compared to the cost of the items shipped. This is only the case when buying one or two items at a time. If you buy multiple items (i purchased 2 optical cables, 2 s-video, a dvi cable, and a plethora of rca cables), it is worth it.

Before getting this product, I requested Belkin more information if this product works fine with PC output thru HDMI. However I got no respond, so I went with the risk of not getting a perfect picture.

After connecting my PC-DVI (Graphics Card GForce8800 GTX) to my Samsung HDMI, the quality is superb. Pictures, games, High Definition playback were all great on my HDTV LCD 52' screen. Even the DVD playback is better than my DVD player.

Cable arrived in a timely manner as described. While not a vendor or product defect problem, you should know DVI cables only transmit video hence the name DV(video)I, so don't expect them to transmit audio; you'll need rca, optical cable, or some other type of cabling solution for your audio. Bought because our country neighborhood has some of the busiest dead end streets I've ever seen. I'm fairly handy with tools and computers, so installation was straightforward for me (attic crawling was a pain though)--if computers are scary then have your computer nerd friend help out.

PROS:

-After searching several online reviews, SVAT seems to have higher resolution cameras, which was important to me. Capable of D1 resolution (pretty close to DVD) at 7 fps. CIF resolution didn't seem very useful to identify faces unless they were really close. Night vision works but the light cone of the LEDs is smaller than the camera field of view, so center up what you really want to monitor.

-Lots of independent controls for each camera that let you specify privacy areas, record on-off times, motion record on-off times, masks to prevent motion detection, resolutions and frame rate. Check out the manual from the SVAT webste, but you can probably do anything you want.

-Email feature is nice (older SVAT reviews had problems, but mine works flawlessly with Gmail if you follow instructions). It typically picks up the UPS truck in the driveway (start of motion) and not the face of the UPS guy. Be ready to get a lot of emails in a day on a windy/rainy/partially cloudy day even on lowest sensitivity settings if you place the cameras outdoors.

-iOS app to view remotely works as advertised... recommend you get a DynDNS or similar account if you do not have a static IP address.

-Computer interface much faster and easier to use than remote/mouse off the TV -but you may need your computer nerd friend to help set it up.

CONS:

-Can only playback 4 channels at a time, but you can go 8x speed which helps make up for this minor inconvenience.

-Don't expect to do a ton of reviewing off-site through your internet connection; remember you have 8 cameras possibly recording at DVD video quality at about 1/3 the speed. Your home/business internet has to upload all that data to the remote location, and upload speeds are typically 1/10th your download speed. To put it another way, imagine you are streaming 3 Netflix movies simultaneously but your internet is 10% as fast as you have now. The good news is you can download the video segments using an button on the web interface for later viewing using software available at the SVAT website... I'll be using that a lot overnight. An when connected the the same WiFi as the DVR, speed is not an issue.

ISSUES:

-One camera did not have the rubber friction piece that secures the adjustable hood, allowing it to slide freely. A $0.35 stick-on furniture pad worked nicely, not a big deal.

-DVR hard drive failed quickly on mine (after a few days of continuous recording to test system). Dropped it from 5 to 4 stars because I had to fuss with a return. Some previous reviews had this problem also.

-Definitely call the SVAT customer support number during business hours to set up a return--I tried contacting the seller, but they needed me to return all the cameras as well (I was not going to undo all that work) just to act as the middle man. SVAT send me a new DVR and an RMA right away, when they receive old defective unit my card should be reimbursed for the new DVR. Set me back shipping, but I much prefer that to waiting weeks for someone to verify the hard drive was toast.

OVERALL:

-For the money, and compared to DVRs at the big box stores, I think I got better outdoor-recording value for my $$$ from SVAT than competitors... even with a return.

I am still in the process of installing this system...installing cameras on brick is not easy. Crawling through the attic to pull 8 power/signal cables takes time. All eight cameras (3 inside and 5 outside are physically installed and four (3 inside and 1 outside) have cables pulled to the DVD and the quality on monitor is great. I have yet to go to system and do the settings. I will use a wireless usb system to send wireless video to a hidden 2TB stand alone drive. A thief steals my exposed DVD, I still have recordings. Good luck on finding the hidden 2TB HD.

I've got the package today, I was so glad it made it in time. The box was ok, intact, same as picture but inside I've found another camera with no Infrared LEDs and also with the plastic scratched. In the picture it shows the lights and it is also in product description: "8-LED Infared Light For Night Vision". Rest of the specs seamed ok: 1080p, supports 32 GB card, motion activated.

I've tried to see how it works. Motion activaion works great. Image it is ok until it gets to a darker place, like after sunset. So no kind of night vision on what I've got.

I'm going to return it and maybe get something else.

I'll admit it up front: the camera watch is tons of cool, but it's expensive and you may not use it as much as you'd think. Of course, it's a watch with alarms, so at least you are not spending your hard-earned money on a gadget you would use only once every 6 months. As a watch it's pretty basic and accurate, but also pretty large, so if you have small wrists, this product will look ridiculous and ridiculously bulky on you. In other words, this is a gadget for grown men with big wrists.

Of course, the reason you'd buy this product is the built-in digital camera, which sports a resolution of 120x120. This isn't much in today's world with 6 megapixel cameras, but we are not talking a professional camera here, or even a prosumer one. 120x120 is not too bad when you remember that most webcams have native resolutions of about 170x140, so this is just a bit less refined than webcams, in a package 1/5 the size or smaller. You can take up to 100 pictures, which you'd then transfer via the built-in IR to a PC. Unfortunately, you'll need to buy a separate IR sensor and upload software kit to do this, although some online shops give this away for free.

How's the image quality? Obviously you have to keep your expectations reasonable. After all, this is a cool gadget, not the digital camera to bring when you go on exotic trips. You need plenty of light, I think it's rated at 100 lux minimum. You also need to learn not to move the watch when you press the shutter button, or the picture will come out blurry. It's a focus-free camera, so everything will be in focus as long as you are at least 1 foot away from the subject (or is it object?). Finally, be sure not to take pictures of people from an angle that's too low, because most of us don't look great with our chin in the most prominent part of the picture.

Since it doesn't have flash, you can rule out taking pictures in a bar or club; besides, do you really want to snap the moment when you are drunk and look ridiculous? Not really, in my experience. So you'll probably use the camera only occasionally. For me, I caught a few heart-breaking moments on mine on Sept. 11, when the World Trade Center collapsed. Those blurry pictures caught the frenzy moment of a country in crisis, as well as the heroic efforts of New York's bravest and finest. Of course, you can't (and don't want to) expect to run into crises like this, so you can probably use the camera to spy on that cutie in your office (don't over do it!), or catch your friends in awkward manners (and risk losing their friendship!). Anyway, you can be creative, and that's what's ultimately cool about this gadget which you can carry everywhere, even in bed.

I bought my Casio Wristcamera Watch back in Dec. 2001 at WalMart (retail price of $200.00 W/O TAX). TriVision NC-316W Wi-fi wireless Waterproof Outdoor Ip Camera With 45 Feet Infrared Night Vision +

I purchased several of the TriVision NC-107W (appears to be similar to the Sharx Security SCNC2607), TriVision NC-107WF (similar to the Sharx Security SCNC2700), and TriVision NC-306W (this unit, appears to be similar to the Sharx Security SCNC3605N) wireless IP security cameras over the course of the last month. All three TriVision camera models provided very good first impressions, but of the three models, this is the only camera that worked without issue (once assigned a static IP address).

Positives:

* Very well written manual, the same manual supplied with the other cameras.

* Very stable in operation cameras recently survived a day of 96F heat with some of the cameras in direct sunlight.

* 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second is likely higher resolution than old style CCTV type DVRs solutions (the resolution may be set to a lower value and the sound quality is adjustable).

* Video is recorded in Apple QuickTime standard format, which is viewable by the Windows 7 Windows Media Player (but not the Vista version of that program) and the video format is compatible with the Windows Live Movie Maker application (free from Microsoft).

* Includes MultiLive software that allows simultaneous connection to as many as 36 TriVision cameras per computer. The MultiLive software features motion detection, with automatic recording to a specified file location (this capability was tested for a week with a single camera, motion detection works but was slower to activate than the motion detection built into the camera, and the Windows 7 color scheme automatically changed to Basic when the MultiLive software was running).

* Includes an automatically downloaded ActiveX control that allows viewing live video from a camera.

* Includes a NC Setup utility which quickly locates Trivision cameras on the network (all cameras send a full broadcast packet to port 22330 roughly every 3 seconds the NC Setup utility sometimes fails to see any network attached cameras, even if a Wireshark packet capture shows the full broadcast packets).

* Automatic light intensity adjustment, automatically switching to black and white night vision if the automatic infrared lights are enabled.

* Two-level user access security to the camera for administrators and regular users.

* Allows download of video from the optional integrated storage media, so that the video may be played back on a connected computer once the download completes.

* Allows defining four motion detection sensitivity areas on the camera so that motion in one or more areas of the camera picture does not trigger video capture.

* Allows periodic (for example once every 30 minutes) of the camera picture to an FTP server or email.

* Recorded video may be broken up into 60 second intervals (configurable between 10 and 600 seconds) to make certain that the video is transferred quickly to a FTP server recording will continue for a user specified duration after motion detection ends. Continuous recording is also possible, but only to the optional internal memory card.

* Supports mobile devices (iPad, Android, BlackBerry) through third party software, as outlined in the manual (tested to work OK with the "IP Cam Basic" app on a Motorola Xoom when setting the camera manufacturer to Sharx).

* The mounting stand, with a three inch diameter round base, works well for mounting the camera to the sides of buildings. Overhead mounting is also possible with the included male-female extender nut (one of these nuts snapped during installation due to over-torqueing).

* Configuration is not terribly difficult, but is a bit time consuming when multiple cameras need to be configured.

* Cameras are able to automatically synchronize with external time sources (NTP servers found on the Internet, however the time on the cameras tends to drift a bit more than what is acceptable).

* Capable to connecting to an external amplified speaker system to support two way audio (not tested).

* The power supply included with the camera has a very long cord (roughly eight to ten feet) which helps with installation. The cable extending from the back of the camera is a usable length for routing inside a building, although an extra foot of length probably would have made installation a little easier for two of the camera installations.

Negatives:

* 640 x 480 resolution is decent if the subject captured by the camera is within about 15 feet of the camera; however the need for high definition video capture is quite clear after watching several thousand video clips created by the cameras.

* While the camera probably is capable of 30 frames per second at 640 x 480 resolution, motion in recorded videos is often accompanied by several short pauses in the motion.

* Viewing the cameras using the MultiLive software seems to temporarily disable the built-in video capture and FTP uploading capability (the same is true when the Synology DiskStation Surveillance Station is connected to a camera).

* The live web-based video stream of the camera is only compatible with Internet Explorer, and the video stream does not scale down if a smaller zoom percentage is specified in Internet Explorer, although the edges of the video stream will be cropped at smaller zoom percentages. The restriction of only working with Internet Explorer means that, for instance, a Motorola Xoom tablet cannot be used to watch live streams of video from the cameras through a web browser.

* The NC Setup utility seems to be a bit unreliable, intermittently not able to see cameras from one computer, while the software works fine from another computer at the same time; the broadcast packets sent by the cameras, which is used by the NC Setup utility, cannot be disabled.

* Retrieval of video from the internal memory card is often a slow process.

* There are two options for taking still frames when motion is detected and uploading those videos to an FTP server one of those options does not honor the specified destination directory setting.

* Motion detection seems to still need a bit of development. Moving an object (a person or a car, for instance) directly toward the camera may not trigger motion detection until the object is within 10 to 15 feet of the camera. Motion detection seems to work well when the object is moving from one side of the picture to the other side, often triggering in a second or less. On a windy day with a couple of cameras pointed through windows, it is not uncommon to see 500+ one minute videos of tree branches swaying in the wind during a 10 hour time period.

* The cable extending from the camera does not route through the stand, so that cable will be directly exposed to tampering. The end of the cable is roughly 5/8 inches in diameter, while the cable itself is about 3/8 inches in diameter that makes for a somewhat sloppy installation. A nearly waterproof enclosure is included for connecting the camera to the power cable, optional network cable and third party alarm system.

* Long term durability of the cameras is still a significant unknown, but at the $300 offering price the camera is a good value even if it fails after a couple of years.

Description of the Attached Video:

The video shows several video clips that were triggered by the cameras' motion capture capabilities; a variety of day and nighttime clips are included so that image quality and sound capture capabilities may be judged appropriately. The video clips were imported into the Windows Live Movie Maker application where subtitles were added, and the video was output as a 640 x 480 resolution WMV video file with no apparent video or sound quality loss the occasional pauses in the video were present in the MOV files recorded by the cameras. The timestamp at the top-left of the video was added automatically by the cameras during recording.

Update December 30, 2012

All of the NC-306W cameras continue to function well, although the falling snow and rain contribute to excessive motion detection recordings. The cameras have provided police with video evidence on two occasions.

That said, I ordered two additional TriVision NC-306W cameras on December 11, 2012 to give to a family member as a Christmas gift. The seller, ATC LLC, sent two TriVision NC-316W cameras rather than the model that I ordered. The NC-316W cameras shipped with firmware version 5.26 (build 20121110). While the cameras appear to be physically identical to the NC-306W cameras, the configuration interface for managing video recording and uploading is very different; a new user reading the manual likely will not have much difficulty setting up the cameras, but the changes are significant enough to cause confusion for people who have worked with the older TriVision NC-306W, TriVision NC-107W, and TriVision NC-107WF cameras.

Specific problems with the NC-316W cameras:

* On two occasions the cameras automatically set their clocks to a date in 1970. Disabling the NTP (network time protocol) auto-time adjustment stopped this behavior.

* Both cameras have a tendency to stop uploading video to a Synology FTP server after 2 to 5.5 hours. When the cameras stop uploading video, they also stop recording video to the installed memory card. Rebooting the camera will allow it to start recording video again and send that video to the FTP server for an additional 2 to 5.5 hours; all video that should have been recorded during the problem period is lost.

* When it was determined that FTP transfers were problematic (after trying various FTP keep-alive settings), the cameras were reconfigured to write to a Synology NAS share. Both of the cameras stopped writing to the NAS after 4 to 5.5 hours, requiring the cameras to be rebooted again to correct.

* Shortly before one of the cameras completely stops recording to the FTP server or NAS, the camera recorded video clips contain only audio, with no picture. This audio without picture recording seems to always happen just before (possibly a half hour before) the camera stops transmitting the recorded video clips to the FTP server or NAS.

The included MultiLive software works fine with the cameras, even when the cameras fail to record video to their memory cards, the FTP server, or NAS share. Motion detection on the NC-316W cameras seems to be as accurate as the motion detection on the NC-306W.

While the NC-306W camera deserves a 5 out of 5 rating, the NC-316W currently deserves a 2 out of 5 rating due to the problems mentioned above.

There is essentially one supplier of the Trivision security camera, ATC LLC, so I thought that I would also provide a comment on the supplier in this review. Individual orders of the NC-107W and NC-107WF security cameras shipped quickly through U.S. mail, with the camera enclosed in a thin cardboard box inside a large plastic mailing envelope. A larger order of four NC-107WF and NC-306W cameras shipped by FedEx, arriving the day after shipment except that the four NC-306W cameras were not included in the box and no packing material was included in the larger box to prevent the smaller boxes from shifting position in the larger box. At 6 AM the morning after the package arrived, I received a somewhat frantic email from the supplier stating that they mistakenly shipped eight of the NC-306W cameras, rather than the four that were ordered due to a "system's issue", with a request that I either return the four extra cameras (prepaid return shipping was offered) or pay a discounted rate for the extra four cameras (thoughts of toner pirates were dancing through my head as I read the email). An hour after the supplier's email was sent I returned a replying email requesting tracking numbers for the eight NC-306W cameras, since none were included in the package that was received. 24 hours after the original email I received a response from the supplier stating that due to a "system bug", none of the NC-306W cameras shipped four of the NC-306W cameras arrived the next day. While this shipment resulted in a bit of panic, I am willing to consider this problem to be caused by a computer glitch and not a case of a supplier attempting to over-ship a product and then expect the recipient to pay for the over-shipment (one of the methods employed by a toner pirate). In all orders, the cameras were shipped without shipping charges.

If I needed to sum this review up in one word, it would be impressive.

I'll start out by saying that this review is not about what it can do wirelessly or with streaming, just with a hard drive plugged into it. I have not, and will probably not test the wireless/streaming functions, though this does have both wireles and wired internet abilities.

The way I use my media player is to run my hard drive off of it to watch movies and shows.

I am not usually a fan of people who use their reviews to talk about other products, but I have to really quick.

I got the WDTV Live, WDTV Live Streaming, and I have another WDTV product. I am a big fan of the WDTV's. The problem I ran into is that when I moved from first a 500gb, to a 1TB (1000GB) to a 1.5TB and then to a 2TB and 4TB hard drive, my WDTV couldn't keep up. The WDTV worked fine with less than 2TB hard drives. They put out a firmware update so that you can use the larger ones, but the WDTV doesn't "see" the drives after you power it down the first time, because they shut down and maybe take too long to spool up and the WDTV doesn't register them anymore.

So I tried the KDLINKS HD680, basically because it said it played most every format, and there wasn't really much info about the limit of the hard drive you could use. And the fact that I couldn't find any other player that would do everything I wanted it to (play amazon video on demand AND all the formats that I needed). So I decided to take the risk and give it a try.

I have to say I'm very impressed with the KDLINKS. It's played every format i've tried, including

MP4, MKV, AVI, TSO, M2TS. It did have an issue with resuming play after fast forwarding or rewinding the .MKV format, but it did play it fine. It would freeze up and not start replay though, and have to be shut down. NOT all formats, just the MKV one.

Most importantly for me, it would recognize the 4TB hard drive, even after it had been shut down. Just start it up and wait about 15 seconds and it's good to go. Then you don't have to wait until it reads it all, just start navigating.

Also, FYI, it does show thumbnails (pictures you put in the movie folder), and you can navigate by folder (ie. you see the foldes as they are on your hard drive and can open them) off of the hard drive (2 biggies for me that I wasn't sure of before hand.)

The only real bad I have is. 1. the MKV and 2. the remote control seems a little weak. It has trouble picking up the box from about 20 feet away (ie. my couch). but it does work, and it has a ton of options on it.

I highly recommend it. The few marks against it aren't enough for me to dock a star. I'm very excited to have something that works with the 4TB hard drive (actual 4TB, not 2-2TB discs) without giving me any issues.

I had been using an XBox 360 for streaming media content to our hdtv, but the file type limitations have been a real bother. I tried a WD TV-plus but that was buggy (especially with audio-synch issues) and didn't have built-in wifi support. Needless to say I was excited to see this product under the tree!

The packaging and presentation were top notch, but to my dismay the unit I received had a video output issue. I could not get video and I contacted the kdLinks support email on Christmas morning. Within a few hours I had a personal response! Pleasant and helpful we attempted to trouble shoot the issue. When it persisted they immediately and with no hassle agreed to send me a replacement unit and return waybill for the defective unit! The responses were prompt, friendly and very honest and straight forward! A pleasure to deal with!

I received the replacement unit less than a week later (the only delay being these kind folks knew a firmware upgrade was due, and delayed shipping a day to ensure I had the latest!) I hooked up the new unit and it worked like a dream!

I have 2, 1-TB external HDD hooked to the unit with video, audio and pictures of all formats and resolutions and the kdLinks HD680 played all of them wonderfully. Subtitle files were seamless and the audio was perfect. The 1080p output is perfect!

The wifi found my network in a remote corner of the house that most devices fail to receive and it maintained a strong enough link to play 720p MKV flawlessly from UPNP networked PC. The online apps such as Youtube worked very well. I was floored by the versatility and quality of the play.

The one-touch music feature is one I plan on exploring more but seems to work flawlessly with both my mp3 and flac recordings.

I can't speak highly enough about my experience and the quality of this product. If you are looking for a low cost, high quality STB that handles all of your many video format needs, the kdLinks HD680 is it.

The main reason I got this was because it said it could handle almost any format I threw at it. And unlike other people in other reviews of other products like this, I only use a few types of files to play. Mainly wmv, mp3, avi and mp4. And since it said it could play all that plus had built in wifi and a Ethernet connection, AND could handle HD, I decided to go for it.

I got it very quickly, faster than they said it would arrive, and right out of the box it was extremely simple to setup. Like all electronics to do with television, everything is color coded, came with regular A/V cable and component cables. It doesn't come with an HDMI cable so you have to buy it separately, which I did and amazingly I'm still waiting for that. It can handle a USB flash drive easily, can connect directly to a hard drive without an enclosure if you don't have one but I haven't tried it yet, I do have an enclosure and it works great.

All the files I've thrown at it have worked, even swf movies I have saved up work fine. The one weird thing I've found is that flash video is one it doesn't like, but instead of just skipping to the next working movie, the thing shuts down and restarts. I found that weird but since that was just a test file and I don't have any actual movies of that type, that's no big deal.

It has great audio output, used it on our stereo system and it just rocked the house. I've noticed also that I've seen other products with reviews saying "product overheats" or "overheats, has to restart" or "overheating causes sluggish video" or something along those lines. Well I'm pleased to say that this thing barely gets warm. I ran it for a 2 hour movie, you can almost feel it warm in the back, but not anywhere near alarmingly warm.

The remote seems tough, LOT'S of buttons and options for you to endlessly change and it's main menu is simple. Want music...select music, all music you've connected to in your USB drive or network shows up. The search option is a LIFESAVER when you have a lot of music or media that you don't want to go thru folder after folder. Plus, you can mark files as favorites and go straight to them without having to search.

In closing I should say I've this is my first media player, I have nothing to compare it to except the reviews I was seeing on the others. Simply put, it's a great buy, I'm glad I got it over another one I was looking at.

Oh, I forget to mention, if you have or plan on DVD or BLu Ray player of some kind, instead of buying a full on player, just buy a USB drive of that version, plug it into this and this will act as DVD or Blu Ray player, fully supporting it with menus and such. I was actually thinking of getting a Blu Ray player, but then when I learned you could use this as one, I'd rather get a cheaper (-$100) USB player than a $200+ blu ray player.

Upon finally getting a wifi network at my house, I set up this to connect to it....SOOOOO EASY and no hassle whatsoever. But since I've had it for so long I figured by now that they might have had a update to the firmware...I'm a nerdy tech person so I want everything up to date. Theres only like one or two things buggy with the original firmware but they don't bother me simply because I don't play/have those types of files to play. But I used Google to look for firmware, of course it took me straight here first and upon looking on this page to find a link, I realized they changed it. Now it's white with control buttons on the front, while mine is black with only the power button. I figured I'd update this so people know and there is firmware for both...black and white...but they're different. I nearly downloaded the firmware of the white version for my black one.

I'm sure the white one they've tweaked things and made things better. I mean the black one is great and I still use and love it, so if they've changed it I'm sure it's even better than I can think. This media player is amazing. Love the features: built in wifi, interface, apps, the ability to adjust the location of where the subtitles goes (and size I believe). It has played every type of file I've thrown at it and it stays cool during long hours of usage. The wireless remote could be improved though. Sometimes the device does not receive the signal or there may be a slight delay. Overall, it is the most powerful player I've ever owned. Highly recommended!

The Product: I am rating this primarily on the use of connecting to my Network and my NAS or other network devices. I do not use internet TV or other movie sites to stream. If any product can stream my 20GB MKV movies, then it'll be more than capable of streaming regular Netflix or HULU sites. HOwever, this product is not capable.

Good:

Can play or decode any movie or subtitle I have and that's a huge accomplishment because I have just about every format type of movie out there.

OK WIFI if you can connect to it

OK GUI, not best organized or user friendly as my Sony WIFI Media Player

Bad:

No way to connect to my security enabled router. I have the new CISCO E4200 which is a beast and pushes 300Megs at 2.4GHZ and 450Megs at 5GHZ. My NAS is direct connected to my router via GIGAbit cable. This Media player can only connect if I add the MAC address to my filter and enable SSID broadcasting. AND the worst part, it will only connect through WPS. That means everytime I turn it on, I have to log into my router and then click on the WPS button on the HD680 and on my router. Then wait for them to find each other, communicate and connect. No other way to connect to a router with any type of security. If you have ANY security, no matter how small, it can't connect. Just no mether to connect. You can't put in any SSID, PassPhrase or anything. When you connect via WIFI all you do is type in the SSID and go to next screen to connect. No security input, no band selection, NOTHING. So either connect via WPS which is a pain if your router is in a different room, or connect to your router but disable ALL security. How can a great product have horrible WIFI methods!

Because it can't connect to my router with all my security enabled, I have to log into my NAS everytime. So boot up, connect to my router/network via WPS, and log into my NAS. A HUGE hassle everytime. My Sony media can connected via SSID and PassPhrase so it connects to my network immediately upon powering on. AND because it's connect to my network (not via WPS (guest)) I don't have to log into my NAS. And it saves all my info. The HD680 doesn't save your settings. It has a mind of it's own. Some settings it saves, but when i set back to factory all my old settings are there after it reboots.

GUI is not the greatest. Sometimes it jumps two icons or selections over with one push of remote, sometimes it does nothing.

Remote is pretty bad too. Sometimes sensitive and jumps, sometimes does nothing when a button is pushed.

DO NOT attempt to play huge files or large MKV bluray or HD files. This thing really struggles and will make you dizzy within 10 seconds. It's like watching a movie and someone hits the pause and play button every 3 seconds.

Does not keep any of your files (movie or music in same order as it's saved on your computer or NAS). All my files are in alphabet order and sorted by folder name. When it connected to my NAS, the folders are out of order and when I go into a folder, all the files are out of order. May not be a big deal for most, but if you have 100 songs or movies in one folder and you try to find one of them. Now multiply that by 50 folders and it takes 30 minutes just to find a file you want to play.

I've been looking for a product like this for months. With it's awesome range of file types it's capable of playing and it's "fast wifi" and "play 1080P". How can you advertise high speed wifi and 1080p streaming if you can't even have the capability to connect to 5GHZ bands and play so slow over WIFI? I have 2 other TV's, a Desktop and a Laptop hitting my NAS at one time and none of them struggle like the HD680. I can play a different movie, or the same movie on all my TV's and devices at the same time, NO lags or issues. Even with all my devices turned off, the HD680 struggles to stream MKV or large movies. I really wanted to like this media player, but the WIFI killed it for me. Not worth $99. Sony's $49 media player is much better and streams without hesitation or lag.

ok, so i recieved this unit last night, hooked it up today and was soo not impressed.. the hook up was fairly easy. the easy link was also painless. than came the volume omg! the unit that this was replacing was a philips 300 watt unit. that thing rumped, you could feel the bass and the action from a movie. this thing was soo weak when it came to bass and full volume that at a 100 fully cranked there is zero distortion, so check the specs and it says speakers combined 1000 watts and reciever output 75w?? Gotcha!!!. Im always happy with my amazon purchases, but this got returned within the hour of getting it back in the box. thanks Amazon for the painless return process and Great Customer Service.

I bought this unit with the intent of copying my VHS collection and using this recorder in place of my VCR. After reading reviews from various sources, I bought this model over the next closest Philips. (By the way, what's up with few brands providing black cabinetry?)

This unit is very easy to use. To get the most out of the unit READ THE MANUAL! One of the best features is the flexible record, allowing optimum recording for those more-than-2 hour-programs. This feature provides the highest quality recording available for the time that you desire to record. Unlike the VCR, where you'd have to record on the LP (or SLP) mode if a program is more than 2 hours, this option will give you the best picture it can in the disc-space provided. To my eye, programs of 2:20 look no worse than if it was recorded on SP.

Of course, some of my prerecorded VHS tapes are copyrighted (but not all) and can't be recorded this was expected.

There is some concern regarding DVD-R playback on other machines. (Don't forget to FINALIZE. This is all covered in the manual.) IF you have problems, try various brands of media. My JVC player had no problem with Verbatim, Memorex or TDK. However, only the TDK would playback on my Toshiba player. I loaned all three brands to a friend and all 3 played on his Philips and Panasonic players.

My only complaints are:

Can't record on DVD-RW.

No (audio) digital input (no brands I could find had it)

I had considred buying a PC-based DVD recorder, but based on the complaints of various friends who have PC-based DVD recorders, I made the better choice by buying this product MUCH easier. Now my friends are considering buying a DMR-E50.

The wife & I decided to hold off on buying a DVD player until they could record, and those units were more affordable. To the DMR-E50K I can only ask: "Where have you been all my life?!?"

This is a great concept and a wonderful machine.

I currently have 2 VCR's slaved to one another then channeled through this unit, the satellite receiver and either the DVD player from my home theater, my camcorder or my digital camera connected to this machine. It is not an overstatement to say that this device is the workhorse of our Media Center. And it's up to the job.

Until I brought this out of the box, my wife was recording her craft shows to video tapes. Twenty-some of them, to be exact. This means that on a 6 hour tape, there might be 30-40 minutes of stuff she wants to save for future reference. Now, she can use the timer to record the whole show, but edit out the stuff she doesn't want to keep. Also, all those tapes will, someday, have the parts she wants to keep transfered to DVD.

As other reviews have noted, I am also transfering my old video tapes to DVD and simply based on the space I'm clearing up, this machine is worth the price.

The only media problem I've ever encountered was when I bought the wrong format. Other than that, all the media I've used have worked well.

If you're looking for a DVD Recorder to transfer over non-copyrighted material, Panasonic's DMR-E50K does the job without a hitch!

If you're new to DVD, I wouldn't recommend this as your first player. The instruction manual is a little confusing if you're not already familiar with wiring and general setup. Recording a DVD is similar to recording a CD-R in a CD Recorder. You must finalize the DVD-R before it's playable on (most) other DVD Players. If you don't, it won't play on any other machine other than the DMR-E50K.

The picture and sound is very good. Recording time varies from 1, 2, 4 or 6 hours on a single sided 4.7 GB DVD. The top two speeds (XP & SP) look great! The two low speeds (LP & EP) really looks like the VHS equivalent.

After reading other reviews and specifications with other DVD Recorders, my main concerns were disc and player compatability. The DMR-E50K works with Panasonic's DVD-RAM (playable only in the DMR-E50K), and offers editing and re-recording on the same disc over and over again. As for DVD-Rs, the DMR-E50K has no problems recording with TDK brand DVD-Rs. I have 3 DVD Players (not including the DMR-E50K) and after finalizing a DVD-R, the finished DVD worked on all of them: Audiovox, Panasonic (different model), and a high end McIntosh.

The Panasonic DMR-E50K does exactly what I expected it to do. It offers Progressive Scan, S-Video, Composite video, DTS Output, Dolby Digital 5.1 playback (on pre-recorded discs), and the convenience of recording over and over again on a single DVD-RAM disc.

On the negative side, it only records in Dolby Digital two channel stereo (Pro-Logic compatible), and only offers an optical digital output (not coaxial).

I wouldn't consider this player to the "causal" viewer. However, if you're into DVD and want recording capability, Panasonic's DMR-E50K may just be what you're looking for.

I brought this from Amazon a month ago and it works just as easy as a VHS recorder. All you need is a blank disk and tell it when to record and it will record with it's built in timer. I have been using several brands of DVD-R disk and only have problems with the cheap ones(i.e. no name brands). The problems only happen rarely. For example, the recording will stop and go to recovery mode. But don't worry if goes to recovery mode, previous recordings are not destroy. However, you can't record anymore to that disk. The recorder also uses DVD-RAM disk and this is my most favorite type of disk. It treats a DVD-RAM disk like a hard drive. There is no recovery mode or hiccups that I have seen happen to a DVD-RAM disk yet. ...

I've recorded over 200 movies on this recorder, and the results are usually excellent, but sometimes there are disasters.

This recorder is not for everybody because sometimes it's glitchy, even with Panasonic's disks. If the recording passes the first 111 seconds, it usually will continue, but don't count on it. When it reaches that magic moment, it will sometimes bomb, meaning the laser lens is dirty, or the disk quality is not to the recorder's liking, or the power is too spiky, or it's the wrong day of the week. Maybe this touchy behavior is unique to my recorder, but I missed getting a few treasured movies off the cable. Who knows when those will be aired again. Recordings of broadcast t.v. are not nearly as good as those on digital cable, but sometimes the network presentations have good quality broadcasts almost worthy of DVD recording.

Sometimes the recorder mistracks, getting the temporal sequencing out of order. That's annoying. However, if the recording is ripped to the PC, then the re-recording can smooth out this problem and a few others such as stuttering and pixelation madness.

It's touchy. Sometimes DVD players have trouble playing the finalized disks. Frequent cleaning of the recorder's laser lens is necessary to prevent the problems given above.

I suppose this glitchy nature is because of the power in the laser. Lower power increases the lifetime of the burner, but the disks being burned have to have a perfect surface and disk opacity has to be very high so the low burn power of the laser doesn't pass through the disk but gets concentrated. I'm not sure this is best explanation for the recorder's malfunction with other manufacturer's disks, and occasionally with Panasonic's. The 50-cent disks from other manufacturers will work most of the time, but expect a few failures.

When it records timed events, most of the time the final product is excellent. However, it would be nice to have a keyboard to type in the titles. Using the telephone-like keypad is inconvenient. What was Panasonic thinking? An infrared keyboard would be a big help.

While the DVD-RAM disks can be edited, using the keypad makes editing inconvenient. In order to make RAM recordings watchable on DVD players, I had to purchase Panasonic's inexpensive and versatile player that can read RAM disks. Playing the RAMs on the player makes DVD mastering possible with the DVD recorder.

I wish Panasonic had software that would allow editing of recordings prior to finalizing. That would make things more convenient.

When I buy my next recorder, I'm going to be looking for greater ease of use and for features that address the problems I've had. I don't want to mislead anyone, because this unit has many good features.

Should people buy this machine? Yes, oh yes! Low price, high quality. It is very good most of the time, but you should know the things I and the other reviewers have to say, so you know what to expect, and so you won't be as disappointed and frustrated as I was initially. Keep the laser clean and most of the time it will behave well.

While superb recordings can be made with the SP (standard play setting), the LP (long play)setting is perfect for most recordings. The recording quality of LP is very good. That lowers the cost of recordings, so the more expensive Panasonic DVD-R disks are more affordable. The same cannot be said for EP (extended play), but even EP recordings are remarkably good.

This blueray player seemed to have a lot of potential for a 70 dollar price tag. Unfortunately, the player stopped reading bluerays shortly after set-up. I would avoid at all cost.

The player works great, but there is just one issue. I bought a refurbished model, and when I power the player off, the disc drawer opens up. No matter what I do, I can't get the disc door to stay closed, unless I completely unplug it. So far, I'm 0-for-2 on Blu-Ray players purchased. Anyone else have this issue?

ION Profile LP Vinyl-to-MP3 Turntable

This turntable made a great replacement for the 20 year old one I had been using. The turntable itself was very easy to set up; the included manual outlined the entire process. I did have an issue with the attached RCA cable being very short, only about 3 feet in length. I had to extend it using another RCA cable. The power cord is much longer though, and should reach the nearest outlet easily. The sound is very clear, even on my age-old system. I was, however unaware that the turntable has a pre-amp installed in it, so I was unable to hook it up to the Phono Input in my home theater system; I had to use one of the Aux/CD/Video imports.

I used Audacity to digitally record my albums on a Dell Inspiron running Windows 7, and the device was recognized and configured instantly. PLEASE NOTE that some of the settings may need to be altered, depending on what system you are running (the set-up guide explains this in detail). Other than a couple nuisances, this device was an excellent buy.

I had to download the installation file from their website rather than from the CD (outdated) but once that was installed, I was golden. I wasn't prepared for the mp3's to sound as good as they did. Very, very easy to record songs & they sound great!

The turntable works great and is so easy to use. Plug in the power, plug in the USB cable, install the software on the CD, push record and start playing and it records the music. Then comes the slow part, the conversion. It takes forever to convert after you're done recording so be patient!

One nice feature is the automatic new track sensor. The software can tell when one track stops and another starts and will automatically start recording a new track for you. After recording, you only have to type the artist and album names once, then you just type in the track names and bam it goes in your iTunes all nice and organized. Sound quality is as good as you can expect from vinyl.

This thing works great except it comes with a saphire tip stylus. My recommendation is to order the ict04rs 2 diamond tip replacement stylus' at the same time, it will cost about 30 bucks and this definitely is not wasted money. Trash the saphire tip. Audacity as a recording tool works fine. If you really want perfect conversions go to Kagi.com and get Denoise and ClickRepair and you enjoy your music till your last day here.

I ordered this turntable to replace an old one because the price was right and the software sounded user-friendly. True in both cases, and the audio quality is genuinely good. I was very pleased with the purchase, until, about two months after purchase, it started malfunctioning. I would go to play a record, and as I was moving the arm to the record (there is no "start" button, only a "stop" one-a definite issue that I wish I'd been aware of), I would feel something catch and it would push the arm back to the cradle. Time after time, it would keep pushing the arm back to the cradle, over and over, no matter if I lifted it high or low. It got, needless to say, very irritating. When I contacted the manufacturer, I was told that it was a mechanical issue and that I would have to return it to them for repair--on my dime, and which would take two to four weeks. Instead, I contacted good ol' Amazon, who of course sent a free replacement right away.

That one worked for about two weeks, until I started noticing a decreasing quality in the sound of my records-odd volume modulations, distortion, etc. At first I thought it was my speakers or receiver, but when I switched to radio or CD, they sounded great. Nope, it was my wonderful Ion turntable again.

I'm returning it for the second time, this time for just a refund, which I'm applying towards the purchase of a Sony. What a POS. You get what you pay for, guys.

When I first opened the package I was pretty excited. There were plenty of mount options and a few cables for charging as advertised. I took the camera out of the weatherproof case and it turned on and had a working touchscreen.

I then turned the unit off and put it back in the case (which I don't think is strictly waterproof it looked like there was a crack water can get into). I tried to turn the unit back on again via the buttons that are on the case, and it didn't work. Instead of the screen coming on after 3 seconds like the first time, the "busy" light turned on and then nothing else happened. After that, nothing I did would get the busy light to turn off or the screen to turn on.

I am returning this product and I don't recommend other people buy it.

This camera doesn't focus. The picture quality is very poor. The battery life is terrible. It only lasts about 15 minutes, maximum. Bad buy.

I bought this camera instead of the gopro at $300 and I can say that the video is very good and I like the fact that it has the lcd touch screen so you can actually see what your going to record as the gopro doesn't have that so it's a guess as to where your camera is pointing and the price is less than 1/3 of the gopro camera so all in all a great deal for the price.

The camera is awesome. Not sure why everyone is having these problems. After a full charge I recorded and took pictures for well over an hour and battery is still not dead. Picture quality isn't the most amazing but hey it was only 50 bucks including the accessories. Love the fact that it has a screen! A couple of my friends have GoPros and other than the picture quality I'd take this camera over that. Great alternative if you don't have 250+ for a GoPro.

V.I.O. POV.1 Point-of-View Video System

I've had one of these units for almost a year now and I love it. It took me a couple tries to get the aim right on my ski helmet but when I did it captured sick powder and took my tip eating falls in stride.

This spring I started using it for kayaking and I was super impressed with the image, no fog lens and waterproof nature of the whole unit. I took several gnarly swims and the camera captured everything.

Some hints for success:

1) Trust the double sticky Velcro that comes with the unit. It really does work

2) Spend time with it, get used to it and know how to aim it before trying to capture the "must have footage". I think it took 2 or 3 tries per helmet to get the aim perfect.

3) When using the remote, set the audio "beep" as high as it will go so you can hear it.

4) Keep the unit in your jacket pocket not in your backpack for warmth.

5) Zip ties Use them and love them. One of the best features of the POV is that you can mount base plates on all your sporting helmets and leave them there while the camera c-clamp slides on to whatever you're doing that day. Once you have your aim dialed in, zip tie the hell out of the plate and you'll never have to mess with it.

6) Purchase a set of AA rechargeable batteries They are great for 90% of your usage; It saves money and the earth. On long trips without recharge options I use the Lithium batteries and take lots of sets; 5 sets for a Grand Canyon trip and 5 2G cards.

Well I can't say enough about the POV.1. I purchased three of the units in August and until then I have never heard of VIO, Inc. I purchased them under the assumption that they will work for me. It was not until I got back to Afghanistan after being home on R&R Leave that I realized just how good these units are. The video is DVD Movie quantity and I used the system in my HUMVEE to record our missions. I attached the unit to my helmet and my weapon and yet again got great video. I put the units through some really hot days and they stood the test and captured the video. When I recently came home I decided to use these cameras in my civilian career as both a Firefighter and Instructor and an avid rock climber. There is no better system out there then this. For the price of the system and the new recording times (up to 8hrs) NO one can go wrong with the POV.1.

After several attempts to piece together a workable helmet cam for paintball, I broke down and bought the V.I.O. POV1 Point-of-View Video System. It's a very nice compact setup that works very well for my needs. The video quality is great at the 640x480x30fps setting; you can see paintballs in flight. Higher resolutions up to 720x480 are also available but record time drops a bit as file size increases. The heart of the system is the recorder; it's a seemingly rugged completely digital device with very handy LCD screen and audio built in for in the field playback. The size of the recorder fits a paint pod and carry is easy in a pod pack. (Besides the cost) the biggest down side had been the wireless remote control. The intent is you can start and stop the recorder without having to unpack it from a pack. It's simple but has let me down a couple times resulting in some great missed footage. Unless you can monitor the recorder to make sure it starts, you're better off turning the recorder on and off directly. Over all we are very pleased with the camera and it's quality.

This camera is superior than others in having the lcd screen and small profile camera head, but don't be fooled into purchasing anything from V.I.O. or it may cost you.

Price: costs a LOT more than the competitors

Accessories: you will need them and WOW will you have to pay top dollar to get them. $90 just for a mounting kit.

Repairs: They don't do them. Something breaks, buy a new one.

Firmware updates: You have to BUY them too!

Professionalism: Ended up getting the wrong extension cord from their website because it was incorrectly labeled as compatible for my camera. Also took almost a week to get my email to customer service answered.

Design flaws: POV1.0 Camera head opened under normal use. Head can be easily unscrewed when removing the a/v cable because it is not fixed closed. (it is threaded to open for no apparent reason and attached to where the a/v cable attaches. If camera head twists open, the fixed wiring will pull away from components and render the camera head useless. ($200 replacement part). No warning in the instruction manual and they do not repair or have refurbished parts. Customer service first said the product was used improperly. When I disputed this and it was clear that it opened while used as directed, the supervisor intervened and stated that the user tampered with the product and voided the warranty. This design flaw was fixed for the POV1.5 when they created the tethered head, but they claim this change was done to "make the camera easier to use" not because of a design flaw.

Design Flaw #2: Camera will not stay secure in the mount on its own. I had to add tape around the body of the camera to secure it tighter in the mount so that it would stay fixed upright. Camera head would not stay upright on my helmet and video would be ruined because camera was shooting at a crooked angle.

There are plenty of helmet cameras out on the market for half the price. For the price of VIO cameras, there should be much better customer service. This is not the case.

I review products for motorcycle mags and I recently did 6 helmet cams for RIDER. I installed/tested some that were more expensive (XtremeRecall and ChaseCam) and some that were cheaper (think skateboard cams for your kids). The only one I kept personally was the POV. It's certainly, hands-down, the most convenient and durable. The 8-gig upgrade rocks....7 hours non-stop, very cool, indeed. Now with their new 12-volt conversion, I can hard wire and ride without worrying about batteries.

The web upload for vids is great as well....viewers don't have to download long files. (of course, you can't download vids even if you want to....one teeeny down side, I guess)) One cable, small recorder, on-the-fly viewing, wireless remote, excellent optics.

Their help staff is excellent. I'm thoroughly impressed by the quality and value of the POV. It's a keeper.

I've been using duplicators for the last eight years. They don't make them like they used to. I've tried produplicator and copystars brands and both have failed the test. They only duplicate certain types of CD-Rs. I use mainly Ridata brand media to duplicate onto. I was skeptical after purchasing four duplicators (2 from produplicator and 2 from copystars) which have cheaper price but don't do the job I need them to do.

After running the Vinpower for about a month now I will say I'm very satisfied with it's performance. I prefer to pay a little extra and have no worries or problems and this product delivers, at least for me.

Great turntable, also like the fact that it has a cassette player in it. Chances are if you have records, you probably also have cassette tapes, either pre recorded or ones that you recorded yourself. I like the slim design although it would have been nice if ion included some kind of drawstring bag or carry strap being that it runs on batteries as well as AC/USB. Now the cons. When I first played a tape it was slow and lots of wow and flutter. Then the next time I used it the noise dissapeared and has not returned since. I guess maybe it just had to be warmed up or something. The other issue is the stylus. It tends to skate a cross certain records at times. I discovered the problem. The needle that comes with it is a lower quality stylus than the replacement ones. So the best thing to do is order replacement stylus # 793-D7M. It replaces original needle on this table and various other models of ion even of crosley. Tip material is diamond, and the tip radius is 7 MI, and it tracks 3 to 5 grams. Might sound like a lot, but there are much less skating issues , and the sound is much clearer. Yes I would recommend this product to a friend.

I was really looking forward to this item, because I have a lot of older audio tapes that I haven't been able to listen to for years. But this unit was a severe disappointment, because it didn't even work. No matter which power configuration I used -and I was quite taken with the fact that there were several ways to power the device -nothing happened. I was able to get my computer to talk to it, but nothing would play or move. The turntable wouldn't turn, and the only button that worked with the tape deck was the eject button. I think the motor was simply dead. I may re-order and try again, but right now I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Ion products. I may just get a standard stereo tape deck instead and connect that to my computer.

The unit itself seemed nice in terms of construction and compactness, although many of its features are a little difficult to find right away (not labeled, not mentioned in the instructions, etc.) and none of them would actually work for me. Be warned that the instructions are next to useless (and only cover software problems, with no mention of how to deal with mechanical problems) and the software itself is grade z and forces you to immediately import your recordings into iTunes. (Get Audacity instead, if you can). For these reasons, I doubt I'll take a second chance with this product.

I thought about staying away from all ION turntables after my ION Quick Play LP turntable gave up on me, but when my ION Tape Express also died on me, I realized that I was really wrong! So, I got the ION Duo Deck as a replacement, and it works like a charm! It's basically a USB turntable with a built-in cassette deck. I also love the Duo Deck's built-in speakers, which allows me to use the Duo Deck as a standalone player, but the disadvantage is the requirement of four AA batteries. Instead of using the packaged EZ Vinyl and Tape Converter software, I used Audacity to digitize my family's old vinyl LP's and cassette tapes. I digitize the audio in 16-bit, 44.1 kHz for easy importing to iTunes. Of course, the vinyl LP's and cassette tapes plays at a slightly higher speed, but I managed to restore the albums to their original speed using Audacity's change speed filter. The digitized audio may sound a little off, but you can't go wrong with Audacity's high-pass filter. I use the click removal and repair filters to remove the pops and clicks from the digitized vinyl LP's. When I use the noise removal filter, I use these settings for my family's old vinyl LP's:

Noise Reduction: 12 dB

Sensitivity: 4 dB

Frequency Smoothing: 300 Hz

Attack/Decay Time: 0.25 seconds

As for cassette tapes, I use these noise removal settings:

Noise Reduction: 25 dB

Sensitivity: 5 dB

Frequency Smoothing: 2 kHz

Attack/Decay Time: 0.25 seconds

After normalizing the digitized recording, I split the albums into separate tracks, and then I save the tracks in 16-bit AIFF, so I can burn the digitized albums on CD's using iTunes. I also use iTunes to convert my digitized albums to 256 kbps AAC (iTunes Plus) for listening to on my iPod. I'd strongly recommend this USB turntable to those who are willing to digitize their collection of old vinyl LP's and cassette tapes. It's the best of both worlds!

I bought two Astar DVD-3200 units to play training DVDs produced in-house.

The Good: the 3200 has a nice sleek design and full function remote with zoom-in and volume control, and it automatically loops the program. It plays Hollywood DVDs well. It is amazing anyone could make this thing for $29.

The Bad: little things like 1972-style LED indicators (display says LOAd instead of LOAD or Load); big problem is that the in-house training DVD did not play well at first. It showed serious compression/decompression artifacts and audio skipping. Sometimes when I insert the DVD, the player thinks it is a DVD-R, so I remove and re-insert the disc a few times until it read correctly. After several power cycles, restarts, disc reloads, and maybe the 1+ hour burn-in period, the training DVD plays acceptably. To be fair, the problem could be the disc, but the same training disc played flawlessly in an Xbox and a Powerbook.

According to my video post-production expert, short-run DVDs produced in-house often have problems playing in older DVD players and it would seem in new cheap DVD players.

Fortunately I burned-in and tested this thing before the training meeting. If you need a perfect out-of-the-box experience playing in-house or non-Hollywood DVDs, you might want to test your disc before you buy, or spend a little more for a name brand.

I have the 3100 model of this DVD player that I got on sale for very cheep. It plays DVDs well, but that's it. My huge complaint about this DVD player is that you have to stand 3 feet directly in front (not at an angle) to get the remote to work. If you are off by even 30 degrees it won't work. My family bought two so I know it's not a one product problem.

I've purchased a variety of so-called "dash cams" in the last few months...the last two have fallen short of expectations (ie: short recording times, poor video quality, etc.) One dash cam I have tends to record video for random intervals, despite setting the camera to record in, say, 15 minute increments. I'm lucky if I can get it to record for longer than one minute, or 30 seconds, or two minutes...you get my drift.

This dash cam goes above & beyond my expectations. I recently tested this a few nights ago, and while it lacks night vision recording (the most likely culprit being the hardware itself not having low-light capability), it more than makes up for that with the superb picture quality, and the continuous recording settings. I tried this with loop recording turned OFF...and as long as the battery would hold up, I believe it would continue recording (although a cigarette lighter adapter would provide a steady power feed). My test video was about 10 minutes long of uninterrupted video. My next test will be a 2-hour drive to the nearest large city (Spokane, WA), and with a 32GB TF card holding nearly four hours of high-quality video, we'll see if it will provide a continuous 2-hour recording.

I just got my k6000 a couple of days ago. I spent weeks looking for a good car dvr. This one seemed to be the only one with no bad reviews, now I see why. The video quality is great, the camera is easy to set up and it has no problem with my 32gb class ten micro card. The only drawback would be no night vision. The camera does have two led lights to help see at night, though they just reflect off the windshield. This is easily fixed by turning on your headlights, the camera's image quality makes up for no night vision. In all though I am absolutly impressed with this camera.

This dashcam does a great job, easy to play back on your computer or TV. Very good video quality, okay audio quality... Small foot print on your windshield, the camera turns off and on automatically, records over old footage. The user's guide is weak, but if you can push a few buttons you can figure it out. First look : looks ok small and firm, a little bit light even 2AAA inserted the cap for microSD and USB are a littleplastic and not very firm no user manaul in paper.

Uses : I haven't use it much just record about 2 hours the batterry is still full sound quality is good if it's near the sound source, my purpose is to record the meeting and have my secretary retype. Haven't used for lecture yet.

I feel that this device operate a little bit slow espectially when you stop record it takes time before ready for a new task.

but as I said my first one, haven't compare with any other.

overall : very satitsfied for 30 usd with sound quality and computer connection and extra microsd slot

This is my first digital voice recorder, so my opinion may be of limited value, but I must say I'm happy with the purchase: it performs as advertised (after a month's use, anyway), and it's small & light. My only quibble is that the reverse button seems to require a too firm & accurate touch but as I said: it's only a quibble. I highly recommend this Panasonic DVR.
